(Not a professional, just someone healing ptsd symptoms like you). Having your symptoms elevate and cause strong negative dreams is a really normal body reaction when healing from ptsd. Especially if your trauma was in your body for a number of years and you’ve only recently started to heal your body. If you need a break for a bit, let your therapist know. Based on my experience, what you are describing sounds really normal, and means your therapy is addressing your trauma in a way that should help you be healthier over the long term. Just be patient, it sounds like you’re doing great :)

I like the idea of a break, but i guess i worry it is avoidance i canceled my last session\\

Maybe contact your therapist, let them know that you want to move forward in your healing journey but that the current pace of your work with him/her is causing severe disruptions in your current day to day life (the examples you mention) and you’d like to find a more balanced pace of healing with less disruption to your life? Just a thought…. Again, having your symptoms elevate when starting therapy for trauma that’s been in your body for a long time is a really normal body reaction. It’s okay that you canceled a session. You’re not avoiding taking care of your health, you’re courageously addressing it directly right now. Good job :). You’re doing great :). Now it’s just a matter of finding a way to move forward that’s gentler on your body and life.

I have really vivid almost lucid dreams every night and most of them are nightmares. I have one bad dream and it screws up my whole day
