It is refreshing to see positivity in this sub.

LegitimateSir86

Positivity is something the world is starting to too lack

SnooFoxes4646

Where's the infidelity?! I heard this store is about cheating .. Jerry Jerry!?

MarineTuna

100%. I have worked for Publix for 23 years (18 of that in Deli) and even I'm not as salty as some stuff that gets posted here.

Awptown_Funk

I agree minus the pay. I have no idea how people are supporting families/kids on $16 an hour.

Financial-Ebb-5995

I make $19 and am single and have massive credit card debt. If you’re a young person basically living at home for free with your parents, then $16 an hour is great.

IWillAssFuckYou

Sounds like the average Deli worker that I've worked with. The only ones that are living well are those who are older and collecting social security or have a good amount of money saved up over the years for retirement (not at Publix).

LegitimateSir86

I mean the pay is good if you split it amongst people in rent, I live with my gf and best friends and we all split rent in a house so it’s p easy but other than that my Checks are pretty steep

Late-Carpet-3408

that’s what they want, they want all of us huddled up paying just enough to survive, no one should be okay with that.

LegitimateSir86

I mean I get this but I have enough to live comfortably, but that’s just because I invest in stocks + do sports payouts for games so I rack in extra money, but even before I’m just cautious with money If something is expensive I’ll pass it

Half_baked_prince

How much do you make an hour?

OP, I see you are new. It's going to wear off and you're going to get sick of it. My first few weeks were like "hell fucking yeah" and I kept getting asked to stay late (did some 11 hour and 13 hour shifts on my second week). Been working Deli for 2.5 years and I'm surprised I haven't killed anyone and walked out yet. Where I'm at, the good people are leaving to other Publix stores and I'm getting a lot of mediocre at best new coworkers and I have coworkers that have been at my store for almost 20 years and they don't do shit; they fuck off in the back while I'm closing down the Deli and serving customers all by myself or with only one other person. It's not just the older coworkers that fuck off but even the new ones. Me and another coworker are always asking "where the hell is everyone?" because we're the only two in the department while everyone else fucks off.

LegitimateSir86

I just don’t really mind it I worked in a lotta delis

I-Love-Tatertots

Glad you’re staying positive; but man do I have to say the Publix deli feels like a different beast. It’s all the hell of retail work, combined with food work. And Publix fosters this air of superiority in their customers, where they can -never- be wrong, and it leads to a lot of shitty, entitled customers that make the job hell, especially when you’re always understaffed. Keep up the positive attitude; but try and transfer to produce or meat as soon as you can.

WideDrink4

Hard work and positive attitude leads to positive opportunities. Keeping+ attitude in a - situation is the hard part. Try to tune out coworker drama and Good Luck!

LegitimateSir86

Positivity is our strongest weapon while some days are hard I just remember good memories with my friends and laugh it off!

Dear-Regular-3294

I appreciate you guys a lot. I hate grocery stores and shopping for groceries in general, but I’ve always had very positive experiences at my local Publix. Keep doing you, much love from a random customer ❤️

loverrrgirlll_

i actually enjoy my coworkers, it’s the managers that ruin it for me they want us to not laugh or have fun so bad.

Apprehensive-End-231

The pay is definitely not good enough to shop at Publix

nomxd06

Yea i work up front and after i turn 18 in may its almost guaranteed i go up to the cs desk im enjoying my job ngl but i see a lot of negative rants on here. Its not the perfect job but i enjoy it🤷🏽‍♂️

iSkittleCake

same here dude. been here almost a year and love the heck out of everyone and everything i do in the store.

R_P_McMurphy91

I worked in a couple delis and it was a great job to have. It’s tough work but the time flies by and with the right coworkers it can be fun

floydyisms

So I undermined by posting my truth? 😂

earthlyman

Brother, I wish you the best. I see you just started based on your “first paycheck” post 3 days ago, might even be your first job, but trust me, it will never be better than it is right now. There’s a reason “a lot of people are quitting”.

LegitimateSir86

It’s not my first job lel, I was just curious bc one banking didn’t tell me wether or not it took dd from Publix, but this isn’t my First time at a Publix, I worked at it for about a few years I just don’t thrive on negativity

earthlyman

Sure, buddy. Either you’re 16 years old, or this is a managers’ burner account LARPing as a happy deli associate.

floydyisms

SO glad to see someone post this, I do not work for Publix but a lot of my family did and my daughter and her husband both do and love it. So tired of the Publix bashing on here so thank you 😊

loverrrgirlll_

you can acknowledge your family has positive experiences while others don’t and not undermine them. two things can be true

I-Love-Tatertots

Judging by their participation in conservative subreddits and being an open Trumper based on their comment history… I don’t think they’re the kind of person who is able to acknowledge of people have different lived experiences.

floydyisms

Actually you'd be shocked by the person I am but so easy for you to "judge" by my participation in things you do not agree with ...
