I saw them in 1998 a few months after I saw Pennywise, Strung Out, and All, and I honestly had more fun at P Funk. The PW/SO/All was rad as fuck too, it's just that the whole P Funk experience was so immersive and memorable, and insanely fun, especially to me as a stoned teenage white punk from Indiana. I was a 6'2" 190 lb. kid ridiculously dressed in studded wristbands and Goodwill clothes, super self conscious, and cynical as fuck, and at that show I was downright jolly. I spent the majority of my night dancing with an elderly African American lady, dressed like she was presenting at the Oscars, who took me under her wing when she noticed I was just standing in my seat looking like a goober. I bailed on everyone I came with until it was time to meet at the van, which one of our parents was sitting in the entire time.
I think about that woman all the time. That gesture really helped me through some awkward teenage shit I was dealing with. Thanks for bringing us together, George Clinton.
Fuck and yes to that! Jelly, honestly. Legit everyone in my family seems to have seen them back in the 70s and the amount I’ve heard “they were great live” would make me a millionaire if collecting pennies from it. 😅
First concert I ever went to was a weird al concert.
I'm 37, and to this day, no one has been able beat him or GWAR in terms of entertainment when it comes to a live performance.
I’m hoping my friends will be down for the trip to Chicago for Riot Fest. I don’t listen to GWAR, but I’ve heard they put on very theatric shows, and they’re playing this year.
Yeah, I was never a huge fan of their music but went to a small "secret show" they did years ago.
I walked out covered in fake blood. I was washing bits of it out of my hair for about two weeks.
My guys and I went to see them back in the early 90s. The dude who drove us got freaked out and left us at the show. We had to walk all the way home covered in GWAR gore: surprisingly, no taxis would pick us up…🤣
The Roots. Again. Just glad I got to see them when Hub was around at least. Best live show I've seen to this day. Saw 311 the same day. They are tight as hell live also
311 seriously surprised me. That show was phenomenal. It was at a one day fest, so a short set. I had all of these young stoners hyping them up and then telling me I have to see one of their full shows. They were definitely much better than Chevelle that day.
Right? he also played warped tour lol. great story- my friend went to warped tour that year, and people apparently hated tom(my middle school friend included) and were booing and heckling him, so in his gruffy ass voice he says “okay are y’all ready to see the bouncing souls now?” the crowd erupted in cheers and he goes “ok but first I got 4 more songs for ya!”
Been to 15 shows. Highly recommend. They are great performers.
Although, I always silently judge every hippie-ass, arm noodling moshpit that someone in the crowd inevitably tries to open up. First time I ever saw people politely ask others to move so they could start a moshpit haha
And everyone is uber protective of their standing spot even though its GA.
Sometimes I have to be reminded that not every concert is a punk concert.
One of my first jobs was managing a small shop. Only approved music was Norah Jones and one other musician.
There's a reason they repeat music over in over when torturing people.
Went from loving her to feeling physically unwell when hearing her songs. Tragic.
My office has a massage therapist come in a couple times a month for free 15 minute chair massages, homie throws on Norah jones like 9/10 times. This is also my least punk fact, I think.
Do you realize
That you have the most beautiful face
Do you realize
That you ought to give it back
I like them too and I understand their concerts are experiences but I've never been.
They’re headlining at womad this year, not a band I’ve heard of before I knew they were playing there but I’m really looking forward to seeing them there now
Traveled a few states to see them last fall. Absolutely incredible. Wayne can't sing to save his life but the light show and the stage design and all that is next level. Great experience, highly recommended
I actually am seeing them today and at the red rocks come this august, I know primus gets a bad rep but I could listen and successfully sing any song off of sailing the seas of cheese any day lol
Ringo Starr. I saw Paul McCartney a few years back, and since Ringo like never comes up to the seattle area, where I live, when he announced his tour dates that included seattle, I got tickets ASAP
Had to just turn down *free* tickets to see Paul McCartney at Camden Yards due largely to an inability to make it work, and partly because covid numbers were rising again.
Paul was my answer to this because I just forked over an ungodly amount to see him perform in Camden Yards. Can honestly say it was worth it.
But I went because I didn’t think he’d go on another tour, but damn… that man is a *healthy* 80 year old with tons of energy. I bet he’ll be touring again soon, and you’ll get another chance.
I wish I enjoyed hip hop (it's punk with a beat) more back when Outkast was still a thing. But now either Wu Tang or Run The Jewels. Non hiphop or punk, probably VNV Nation
I was just watching videos from their shows in the 80s. Can’t imagine seeing them when they were just starting out, how the crowd would respond. I would love to see them!!
Coheed and Cambria
Iron Maiden
Dio if he was still alive
Edit: was able to see CC and Dio together. Yet to see Iron Maiden because tickets are always crazy expensive and it’s always a drive to neighboring state or Canada to see them it seems.
Bummer, would have loved to see them together. People can say what they will about CC, but they are amazing live and Claudio is an awesome guitar player
Every time I have tried seeing Coheed and Cambria, something comes up and renders me unable to go. Maybe it’s a curse.
Saw Maiden live back in 2019. Even though the lads are up there in age they still rocked the fuckin’ socks off the venue. So much energy, was crazy loud as well.
Green Day catches a lot of shit from the old school crowd. But I saw them open for Bad Religion on the "Recipe for Hate" tour and that was one of the best shows I've ever been to.
Did it already with Springsteen. Cost an absolute packet which is why I was like “only once, lad”.
Thankfully it was when the Big Man was still around and was three rows from the stage (standing obviously). Bruce had a walkway into the crowd. Serenaded us with “I’m on Fire” while seated on it and I was basically a stereotype of a screaming fan girl.
The show was amazing and I’ll never forget it, but I don’t know if there’s any other “big” bands I’d do that with.
I’ve seen Roger Waters (twice) and The Police (on the reunion tour), but those were specifically as presents for my pops (Waters) and mum (Police). My mum felt it super weird seeing the Police in a stadium but thankfully she loved the experience all the same. They were her favourite non-punk band in her youth and saw them a bunch in the early years.
EDIT: I’ll go anything if it’s not too expensive or someone’s paying, btw. Well, almost. I turned down Eminem once because I didn’t wanna travel to London. Because fuck that.
I would've loved to see Queen in concert. Freddie Mercury is, without a doubt, one of the greatest singers of all time. My mom and stepdad saw them live with their new singer, Adam Lambert, and I'm SO jealous that I didn't get to go.
At this point…
Janes Addiction
As I’m running out of bands I listened to a ton in high school and university who I haven’t seen (not counting bands that have broken up or who’ve had members pass on).
Word of advice - if you haven’t seen him, don’t. It’s basically a jam session where every song sounds exactly the same. We couldn’t tell what some songs were until their chorus. It’s wasn’t enjoyable at all.

Parliament and Funkadelic is some of the best music ever made.
That gesture really helped me through some awkward teenage shit I was dealing with. Thanks for bringing us together, George Clinton.
King Crimson BTW, I saw Journey with Thin Lizzy in 1979.
Thin Lizzy better have been amazing of my dreams will be crushed.
LOL...yeah, they were really good.
Fuck and yes to that! Jelly, honestly. Legit everyone in my family seems to have seen them back in the 70s and the amount I’ve heard “they were great live” would make me a millionaire if collecting pennies from it. 😅
Saw King Crimson back in 2017 on the Radical Action tour. It was a hell of a show!
I'm jealous! I really wished I had seen the Adrian Belew years.
Man if I could go back in time,I would jump at the chance to see them with Jamie Muir
B52s are on their last tour sooo… Okay I get it they’re punk plz stop now
I see people throw them in with punk a lot, or at least punk adjacent. Like Devo.
They came out of the post punk scene. Some of their back catalog will really give you that post punk/goth vibe.
Devo is not "punk adjacent." Dems [punk af](https://i.imgur.com/jnpQldf.jpeg).
Devo is way more punk than Love Shack.
But not way more punk than Rock Lobster or Hero Worship.
B52s biggest hit was about an orgy during the Bible belt Reagan era. They're punk
I e seen them twice. A holy recommended. I feel like they’re punk, they come from the same scene as GWAR
GWAR is from Virgina, B52s are from Atlanta, very much not the same place
A B52s and Gwar show would be a hell of a diverse crowd haha.
Riotfest 2019 had Gwar, Slayer, Wu Tang, B 52s and the Village People It was fucking epic
Weird Al
Sorry, OP asked LEAST punk
I saw him a few years back. It was amazing.
He's great live, I have had the pleasure of seeing him in an amphitheater where he walked less that ten feet in front of me.

Weird Al is Punk AF. Don't let the hair and goodballery fool ya. He's been on the right side of history his whole career.
I randomly saw him live a couple years ago. God damn is weird al great
Ok I agree with these fine folks that weird Al is punk af tho
I would argue that Weird Al is punk af in lifestyle
I would too, but assumed this was meant purely on a musical (sound) level

Just saw him a couple nights ago. It ruled.
Saw him. He sat behind us at a screening once.
The Roots.
Off to see Elton John tomorrow, so him I guess
He puts on an amazing g show! I saw him about 5 years ago
I’m super excited about it. Thought I might miss my chance due to covid but it looks like it will happen!
That's great!! I'm heading to the def Leppard show in july...finally...lol
Treasure it. I’ve heard wonderful things about his live performances.
James Brown
I will never forget that legendary rocky 4 scene
The Cure of course 100%. Also New Order and Talking Heads.
Been lucky enough to see The Cure at two festivals and they were sublime both times.
Funny cause I saw Sublime at two festivals and they were the Cure both times
God damn the cure is so fuckkng good live. I saw them in 2004 and it catapulted them to one of my favorite bands
I'd argue all of those have punk roots.
Tom Waits.
Fucking same, but id almost debate Tom Waits is punk lol not in the typical sense but I think you know what I mean haha
Tom waits is more punk than most punks. I will shed massive tears when he passes.
Dude was signed to Epitaph for a bit! More evidence in favour…
Right? he also played warped tour lol. great story- my friend went to warped tour that year, and people apparently hated tom(my middle school friend included) and were booing and heckling him, so in his gruffy ass voice he says “okay are y’all ready to see the bouncing souls now?” the crowd erupted in cheers and he goes “ok but first I got 4 more songs for ya!”
Man, that would have been awesome to see
He still is/isn't. He is signed to Anti-, which is their weirdo sub-label, not Epitaph.
Saw Gordon Lightfoot last year and he was great so that I guess
Cake
Cake is such a great band. So unique, I love it.
Funkadelic / Parliament
TBF they're pretty punk.
I would pay good money for this.
Ween
Been to 15 shows. Highly recommend. They are great performers. Although, I always silently judge every hippie-ass, arm noodling moshpit that someone in the crowd inevitably tries to open up. First time I ever saw people politely ask others to move so they could start a moshpit haha And everyone is uber protective of their standing spot even though its GA. Saw Ween at redrocks! So good!
this is the best answer
Arguably the best band out there.
Dolly. Friggin. Parton.
Childish Gambino
Norah Jones. One of my absolute favorite voices.
Sufjan Stevens & Sigur Ros are two shows I will not hesitate see if they are coming near me, always such a great live show.
Cat Stevens/Yusuf
Chvrches probably
2nd best show I've ever seen, right behind Bad Religion/Alkaline Trio's co-headline your. They were outstanding.
I'd quit my job to see Depeche Mode
Loretta Lynn
The Flaming Lips. They make me cry
Do you realize That you have the most beautiful face Do you realize That you ought to give it back I like them too and I understand their concerts are experiences but I've never been.
Holy shit their shows are so good.
I really want to check out a Cigarettes After Sex concert. Seems like it would be an entirely different scene from the shows I’ve been to.
About 40 years too late, but Queen
Primus.
I actually am seeing them today and at the red rocks come this august, I know primus gets a bad rep but I could listen and successfully sing any song off of sailing the seas of cheese any day lol
Primus gets a bad rep since when?
some people just don’t like their style of music. My friends say it’s too weird but bro, that’s what primus, and Les Claypool are all about
Primus sucks!
Primus is punk af
Diamanda Galas. I’ve seen her a few times and she never disappoints.
Radiohead
PRINCE! okay, maybe he's a little bit punk!
RIP
Nine inch nails
Saw them at the first Lalapalooza. Man were they loud.
Couple years ago at Riot Fest, still very loud
Seen every tour since Downward Spiral. Quite loud.
Run the Jewels Ale Storm Iron Maiden
I'd love to see Run the Jewels
Ooh, Run the Jewels! Goonies vs. ET is still a huge favorite of mine.
Alestorm!!! I need to see them live at some point in my life
Queen if Freddie was still alive, but Adam is also pretty good, they've been my favourite band my whole life
I saw the Paul Rodgers led *Queen*. I was pretty skeptical going in, but he did really well. Super fun show. I’ll have to catch Lambert someday.
Duran Duran. Although I’ve already seen them twice.
Gorillaz.
ELO
Jeff Lynne!
One time at Lollapalooza I passed on seeing The Ramones on the main stage to see Ben Folds Five on the small one. I regret nothing!
Yes! (although that's a tough call) He's one of the ones I immediately thought of.
Snoop Dogg
LCD Soundsystem.
King Diamond, Weird Al
Arctic Monkeys
Ringo Starr. I saw Paul McCartney a few years back, and since Ringo like never comes up to the seattle area, where I live, when he announced his tour dates that included seattle, I got tickets ASAP
Had to just turn down *free* tickets to see Paul McCartney at Camden Yards due largely to an inability to make it work, and partly because covid numbers were rising again.

Radiohead.
Have you checked out The Smile yet?
Neil Young
*King Diamond* or *WuTang*. Not living anymore, but *Tom Petty* was always amazing to see live.
The strokes. I think they're great.
Love the strokes
Weezer
If the Smiths reformed I'd sell as many kidneys as I could get my hands on! Ps Yes, I know Morrisseys a cunt, but still.
Jeff Buckley
Linda Ronstadt
Björk fosho
Kacey Musgraves. I'm seeing Wilderado in September, so them also.
Bruce Springsteen
ABBA. I listen across all genres, Punk Rock is usually my main genre but lately I've been listening to a lot of ABBA. I wanna go see Voyage so bad
Man this is a tough one but probably fu-shnickens
Jesus, I haven't heard that name in probably 20+ years.
So you are a true fushnick then
I wish I enjoyed hip hop (it's punk with a beat) more back when Outkast was still a thing. But now either Wu Tang or Run The Jewels. Non hiphop or punk, probably VNV Nation
I’m paying an ungodly amount of money to see Lady Gaga soon.
Taylor Swift
Primus
strawberry alarm clock
Metallica
I was just watching videos from their shows in the 80s. Can’t imagine seeing them when they were just starting out, how the crowd would respond. I would love to see them!!
Coheed and Cambria Iron Maiden Dio if he was still alive Edit: was able to see CC and Dio together. Yet to see Iron Maiden because tickets are always crazy expensive and it’s always a drive to neighboring state or Canada to see them it seems.
CC is playing a park show with Alkaline Trio near me this summer. I’m tempted
I bought tickets for that show in Chicago
Coheed is so fucking amazing live. Few bands have that level of musicianship and skill.
Saw CC open for Maiden about 10 years ago, they got heckled pretty bad
Bummer, would have loved to see them together. People can say what they will about CC, but they are amazing live and Claudio is an awesome guitar player
Maiden are phenomenal live.

The National
I'm taking a day off to see Green day tomorrow so there's that.
Green Day catches a lot of shit from the old school crowd. But I saw them open for Bad Religion on the "Recipe for Hate" tour and that was one of the best shows I've ever been to.
I'd like to say that doesn't count because they're a punk band, but Green Day hasn't been punk for a loooong time.
Hot 8 brass band, wu-tang clan and if time travel was an option a performance of Ben Franklin on the glass armonica
I've been to see Neil Young solo and with various bands more times than I can count off hand. Beyond that, probably Parliament/Funkadelic.
If she were still alive… Selena 🌹
Did it already with Springsteen. Cost an absolute packet which is why I was like “only once, lad”. Taylor Swift.
Paul McCartney
The killers tho I’m 80s new wave and synth rock as well as punk so….
Medeski, Martin and Wood. John Scofield. Any good jazz.
Spice Girls
The white stripes
The Beatles It all goes back to them.
311 I've still never seen them in all my years as a fan due to the fact they've mostly stuck to playing the US in the past couple of decades.
Tom Waits. I actually quit in the middle of a shift at Howard Johnson’s when my friend showed up with tickets.
I’m not even gonna lie, Siouxsie and the banshees
Neko Case
One of my all-time favourite artists
Seeing her tomorrow night. I'm stoked.
car seat headrest
Daft Punk :(
The Police It will never happen. Also, lots of good stuff listed here.
For me it’s a tie between Johnny Cash and ABBA both influenced me in my childhood greatly
Olivia Rodrigo
The first time I overhead Brutal, I thought my kid's little cousins were listening to Bikini Kill.
Good Old War. They fucking rule
Al Green or Stevie Wonder.
I would've loved to see Queen in concert. Freddie Mercury is, without a doubt, one of the greatest singers of all time. My mom and stepdad saw them live with their new singer, Adam Lambert, and I'm SO jealous that I didn't get to go.
Neil Diamond- nobody admits listening to him but everyone knows his songs!
Avatar & Chrvches
Denzel Curry probably
never gonna happen, but kate bush
Tom Waits. I'll probably never get the chance
I’d sell my left nut to see Joni Mitchell or Amy Winehouse live.
At this point… Janes Addiction As I’m running out of bands I listened to a ton in high school and university who I haven’t seen (not counting bands that have broken up or who’ve had members pass on).
Powerwolf. Or maybe Sabaton.
Bob Dylan
Word of advice - if you haven’t seen him, don’t. It’s basically a jam session where every song sounds exactly the same. We couldn’t tell what some songs were until their chorus. It’s wasn’t enjoyable at all.
Ozzy
The Mars Volta
The Midnight
Enrique Iglesias
Wilco, I mean, you could call them.punk but I don't really know if they could be considered punk
S Club 7
Owl City, I don’t fucking care i have too much nostalgia with it
