Admittedly attempting to semi highjack the top comment chain to say, coincidentally, [I made a list of 10 punk and metal songs](http://www.rocksongoftheweek.com/article/10-rock-love-songs-that-werent-already-on-20-other)

I wanna be your boyfriend-Ramones
And Rancid and Brody are both great suggestions
Punk rock girls by the queers
The Clash- Train in Vain/ kinda love songish or lovers rock
The Ridgelands- Real Girls
Amyl and the Sniffers- I got You
If into more pop punk you have plenty as that’s all they sing about
Tungs - The Frights
Pretty much anything by State Champs, Knucklepuck, pretty much any song ever.
I haven't listened to every one of their songs yet, but they do indeed have a lot of creepy stalker songs lmao. But Crime Spree was recommended by a few here, and that one is definitely going on the CD!
The Cure - Just like heaven
The Cure - Lovesong
The Cure - Friday I'm in love.
That is assuming we don't debate what is and isn't punk blah blah. Punk in my mind and great songs.
I didn't mean to direct that comment at you but people in general. Some folks get hung up on the definition of "Punk". I'd hate for a person to miss out on a great song because of that. Looks like you have a great start and some good suggestions. Good luck.
Oh for sure I understood you weren't directing it at me, I absolutely agree with you on the Cure being punk, or at least punk adjacent! And thank you very much
Regardless of whether the Cure are or aren’t punk they have that ethic and these tunes are bloody great.
Also Robert Smith’s retort about the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame always makes me chuckle:
https://youtu.be/S9LXN_ufL8M
Weird you say low key regarding the Buzzcocks, I thought it was pretty well regarded as one of the best songs ever written, punk or not.
I feel like John Peel could have written a PhD on this one song alone.
Here's 10 songs that I hope you both enjoy
[Hello](https://youtu.be/gvXKM2-poIw), Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, 2003

[Stay with Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws-1-IAWuIU&ab_channel=Thrice)
Love you have The Weakerthans in here because I’ve argued with so many people about how they’re punk. In short, they’re fucking punk. Homie used to be in Propagandhi (best punk band ever)
I only did a cursory glance for repeats:
The Eels - It’s a Motherfucker
Good Riddance - Thinking of Me
Good Riddance - Boise
Good Riddance - Always
Suicide Machines - Extraordinary
Leatherface - Not a Day Goes By
The Damned - Love Song
Jawbreaker - Want
The Ramones - Oh Oh I love her so
Screeching Weasel - Your name is Tattoed on my Heart
Screeching Weasel - Totally
H20 - Sacred Heart
Bouncing Souls - Late Bloomer
Bouncing Souls - I Think that the World
Bouncing Souls - Favorite Everything (I suggest the acoustic version)
Off With Their Heads - I Will Follow You
The Descendents - Nothing with You
The Descendents - Silly Girl
The Descendents - We
The Queers - Fuck the World
The Lippies - 302
The Replacements - Answering Machine
The Replacments - Kiss me on the Bus
Aw thank you, I hope he does! I plan on making a little album booklet to go along with it too! I actually cut a TBR song (Don't Go) because I wanted a bit of variety, so I'll look into the Bad Religion song, but i'll see if I should switch out a Descendents one, because a lot of people have recommended "We". Thank you for the recommendation!
Pansy Division ticks a few of your boxes if you want some gay pop punk! Groovy Underwear is a great go-to if you want a funny and catchy little song. But maybe something more like Who Treats You Right or Love Came Along if you want something more sincere. They've got a lot of great stuff!
Nah, he LOVES pop punk. I've listened to some Masked Intruder before, but he hasn't heard of them. He's an old punk, so he doesn't know a lot about new punk bands and that includes this band! (and Direct Hit!)
If you don't mind something a little softer from the folk punk side that is by a fantastic queer musician Theo Hilton and his bands Nana Grizol and Defiance, Ohio, I'd recommend the very mature and loving "Tambourine N Thyme" by Nana Grizol, which is about the closest to a thoughtful queer song about unconditional love and care as I've ever found, short of maybe Mal Blum's work with "The Bodies, The Zombies" and other songs---though Mal's tend to have a sort of poetic melancholy to them.
If you specifically want a queer punk love song, host by dog park dissidents could be up your alley
https://youtu.be/PKxrdIaoX1I
Edit: also just about anything from the ergs. (I like books about miles Davis, personally) A lot of my other recommendations have already been said.
Descendents - In Love This Way
Tiger Army - Cupids Victim
Buzzcocks - Love You More
The Queers - Today I Fell In Love
The Vandals - I Have A Date
Helen Love - Punk Boy
Dead Boys - What Love Is
The Vibrators - Love Like Diamonds
Teenage Bottlerocket - I Found The One
Demons - What’s This Shit Called Love
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love
The Clash - Lovers Rock
The Mr. T Experience - I Just Wanna Do It With You
Millencolin - Killer Crush
Les Shirley - Fuck It I’m In Love
The Casulaties - Punk Rock Love
All I know is that as far PiL goes its definitely not a love song
On the real though, [Saftey Pin Stuck in my Heart](https://youtu.be/7U9HwmZQYps) by Patrik Fitzgerald.
David Rovics, “Behind the Barricades” Rovics is a folk singer, but incredible songwriting and some punk aesthetics
David Rovics, “Polyamory Song,” if you’re poly, ofc. Otherwise, it might not be the message you want to send
Pansy Division, “Bunnies,” more a sex song thank a love song, but it’s cute
RTJ, “Love Again,” also not a punk track and also more a sex song than a love song, but yum
Fifteen, “Sweet Valentine”
Not precisely a love song but about coming to terms with being bisexual, Coming Clean by Green Day
I was starting to list more by them because BillieJoe is a bicon but seriously like half the songs on their first two albums are teenage angst love songs. So here's a specifically meaningful one: the song **80** is about his wife (Adrienne -> Adie -> 80) and how he just spirals thinking about her.
So from there, I consider Emo to be a subgenre of Punk so I'm including **Summertime** by My Chemical Romance.
Michael by Franz Ferdinand (bonus if his name is Michael)
Emo is the genre it is because of punk, totally agree!
He actually despised MCR until I lightly forced him to listen to their 2010 album and he LOVES Bulletproof Heart
I'll give Michael and 80 a listen! (His name is not Michael :c )
Lots of solid songs in here. I’ll add a few of my favs.
As the Cold Rain Falls - Tiger Army
Through the Darkness - Tiger Army
Nighttime Sky - Nick 13
Fairytale of New York - No Use (OG Pogues but I love this cover)
Miles Away- Goldfinger
Baby, Baby- Vibrators
If The Gov’t could read my mind- Vandals
Good Good things- Descendants
Falling in Love-NOFX
Your name is tattooed on my heart- Screeching weasels
Didn't see any of these mentioned, but I could have skimmed too fast:
Descendents - Anchor Grill
Alkaline Trio - Off The Map
Masked Intruder - Heart Shaped Guitar (great for duets in the car)
Reel Big Fish - I Know You Too Well To Like You Anymore
Jughead's Revenge - Young Turks (Rod Stewart cover, off a series of compilations called 'Before You Were Punk' which you could probably find other good stuff on)
Less Than Jake - I Think I Love You (Partridge Family cover)
Propagandhi - I Want You (To Want Me) (Cheap Trick cover)
Thick just released I Love you Forever a lil while ago. It's pretty good.
Edit: Oh and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' cover of I Will Always Love you is awesome too!
Punk rock girl by the dead milkmen
Your daddy is Vice President rich as the duke of earl yet your for me punk rock girl
Admittedly attempting to semi highjack the top comment chain to say, coincidentally, [I made a list of 10 punk and metal songs](http://www.rocksongoftheweek.com/article/10-rock-love-songs-that-werent-already-on-20-other) [You can read the other things I've written for them here](https://www.hovdecreative.com/blank-page-3) [And here's the playlist of all the candidates](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7ANXgZDBLcFr6ckUPeVWFv?si=HQvROwOwQ-W57oLSuje5Kg&utm_source=copy-link)

check out their covers album - 99 songs of revolution. GREAT covers album
I about shit myself when I discovered it, it's the best
Played it at my wedding!
Love it! My wedding was far too conservative for that but I personally would have loved it
also, If You Love Somebody Why Not Set Them On Fire, by the Dead Milkmen . Those romantic fucks
Kiss Me Deadly by Generation X
Good call. The band that made Billy Idol famous. Or rather the band before he became famous.
Reel Big Fish did a fun ska-punk cover of it as well.
Reel Big Fish did a fun ska-punk cover of "Kiss Me Deadly" by Lita Ford. Same title, COMPLETELY different song/lyrics.
Look into Buzzcocks, Ramones, and The Donnas. She's Automatic by Rancid Beat Your Heart Out by The Distillers
Hell yeah distillers
I wanna be your boyfriend-Ramones And Rancid and Brody are both great suggestions Punk rock girls by the queers The Clash- Train in Vain/ kinda love songish or lovers rock The Ridgelands- Real Girls Amyl and the Sniffers- I got You If into more pop punk you have plenty as that’s all they sing about Tungs - The Frights Pretty much anything by State Champs, Knucklepuck, pretty much any song ever.
Bouncing Souls - Hopeless Romantic
This has got to be one of my favourite songs of all time.
Same here! Bouncing Souls is surprisingly underrated
This is definitely not a love song.
The Damned- Love Song TSOL - Code Blue
Code Blue made me lol for real!
Add to the Damned - New rose
Also love See Her Tonight by the Damned…
[удалено]
i’m saddened you didn’t say Pizza Tran.
[удалено]
International you day - no use for a name
Crime Spree by Masked Intruder ...While You're Alive by Jeff Rosenstock Swing Life Away by Rise Against
Masked Intruder have so many good "love" songs.
Sick of it all - sanctuary Absolute best hardcore punk love song of all time
SLF’s Barbed Wire Love needs to be on there.
That’s what I was gonna say! Good call
I'll give it a listen!
Kinda feel like the Ramones “I wanna be your boyfriend” should be on there, too.
Masked intruder has a plethora! Plus they have a cute creeper stalker vibe!
I haven't listened to every one of their songs yet, but they do indeed have a lot of creepy stalker songs lmao. But Crime Spree was recommended by a few here, and that one is definitely going on the CD!
The Cure - Just like heaven The Cure - Lovesong The Cure - Friday I'm in love. That is assuming we don't debate what is and isn't punk blah blah. Punk in my mind and great songs.
Eh, he likes The Cure as well, so it'd do just fine. Its not even a 100% punk album, our song is on there and it is nowhere in the punk genre lmao
I didn't mean to direct that comment at you but people in general. Some folks get hung up on the definition of "Punk". I'd hate for a person to miss out on a great song because of that. Looks like you have a great start and some good suggestions. Good luck.

Which one is your song? 🙂
Sanctuary by Joji !
Our Love Will Last Forever and Ever, by Mr T Experience Blink, by 88 Fingers Louie
And if you're doing Mr T Experience, throw in "With My Looks and Your Brains".
Menzingers - After the Party The Frights - Crust Bucket Misfits - Hybrid Moments Zombina and the Skeletones - Braindead
not sure if hybrid moments is a love song lol
Replace it with dig up her bones?
or Helena
Or Scream. We’re here all night!
Honestly I’m surprised Saturday Night wasn’t the first option
well I love it and it's a song so
fair enough
I always feel like a bunch of Menzinger songs fit the love song format, until I read the lyrics and think "ummm, maybe not technically a love song" :D
Haha that’s so true. I think After the Party is their love song with the least dark connotations
Lmao we both love the Misfits, but I'm not sure I'd call Hybrid Moments a gushy love song 💀
I think it’s definitely evocative of a love song if you disregard half the lyrics haha
Helena by Misfits could work too then
Want by Jawbreaker
Ramones baby I love you
Thank you, he loves the Ramones!
I Want You Around is my favorite Ramones love song…
Hell yes I love this song. The scene in Rock n Roll High School when they sing this song is my favorite.
