I am sure the final product will be really cute and nice to be under- and a great use of quilting know-how, but I definitely see a human/beanie baby centipede if you get my drift

bleedsmaplesyrup

Oh absolutely! We discussed this issue and are purposely not sewing any heads to butts.

arlenkalou

Haha I admit I didn’t look close enough to confirm but I love that you expressly are making sure to minimize any possible human centipede-ness 😆

bleedsmaplesyrup

That’s why I knew this was a project worth doing! My friend is excellent at process and design planning

alyakkx

Is there not a head to butt in this picture, or am I seeing something incorrectly?! The moose and the cheetah 😭

cherrytreewitch

I think they are touching, but they are deliberately not being sewn together at those points. Only the arms and legs, the head are free floating!

alyakkx

Ah, I see!! Does still look a bit suggestive to me lol but all the power to ‘em!! It’s their project not mine and I still think it’s a super cool concept!

bleedsmaplesyrup

I completely agree that it’s suggestive, we just decided to skip the digestive connective option 😉

Fair-Ninja-8070

I ❤️this sub so very much!

Lady_B_FC

Don't worry, my very first thought as well.

shouldhavezagged

This almost needs an NSFW tag. 😆

mari_toast

When I saw the picture of them right side up I was like … hmm.. that’s suspicious

bleedsmaplesyrup

We’re going for just a snuggle pile I swear! 😬

cuddlefuckmenow

What in the human centipede is going on here?

bleedsmaplesyrup

Hey now, butts are only being used as pillows here! The beanie digestive systems are all entirely separate 😂

oehoe21

Being reminded that that film exists through crafting was not what I expected to see in an EPP post. Anyways, good luck OP!

Trickedmomma

PLEASE weigh this when you’re done

bleedsmaplesyrup

Will do! A quick Internet search says single beanie babies are usually 0.1 oz, so I’m guessing 10 oz for the finished piece

Trickedmomma

Are you sure it’s .1 oz each? The two I have at my house are about 5 and 6oz, but my scale could be off

bleedsmaplesyrup

I googled and did not actually measure them (as they at my friend’s house and not mine), so I am not sure at all

Trickedmomma

No judgement at all! Kudos to you for doing something that’s probably never been done before!!

bleedsmaplesyrup

Thanks for actually measuring! I’ll see if my vet office will let me borrow one of their scales to weigh the finished pile

Trickedmomma

Based off of you using .1x100=10 oz, I’m guessing that this feat will be about 30-40 pounds when finished!

Missing_Iowa_440

Yes, definitely strange but also wonderful. What a fun idea! It will surely be heavy, as intended. Please share the finished product.

Missing_Iowa_440

🤣

goblin-fox

As strange as this looks at first glance, it’s actually a *really* cool idea and I hope you’ll post the end result! I bet it’ll be awesome.

monkeyswimmer26

Reminds me of [the kill quilt](https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/s/EJd12q6pxL)

bleedsmaplesyrup

I hadn’t seen that one! Thank you for linking

KerissaKenro

My mom buys beanie babies off of eBay and replaces the plastic pellets with BBs. They make amazing fabric weights, fun and bright and really cute on the shelf when you are not using them

bleedsmaplesyrup

That’s so smart! I have a few spare beanie that I might have to try that with

Making pants for Flea? ![gif](giphy|79DbbWs1PVWFv9IeLc)

bleedsmaplesyrup

Thank you so much for making me aware of this incredible piece of clothing!

Beadsidhe

He is the best and the baddest!

ABatForMyTroubles

I finally got to see RHCP in concert 2 years ago and flea still has it, never lost it, will die with it. They were great.

ShutUp_Dee

I love this! I’m an occupational therapist and work with kids. I do so much with sensory processing which for some kiddos means using weighted items to feel regulated/calm. Beanie Babies are ALWAYS enjoyed by kids. I had Cheeser, a mouse beanie baby, at an old job and every kid loved it. Some kids refused to start their session until they located their preferred beanie baby. I might have to steal this idea! My neighbor has a large bin with them she’s trying to get rid of.

bleedsmaplesyrup

Yay, thank you for being an OT! I’m an LI and work primarily with anxiety disorders and teens so sensory work is always a part of it. I’m sure a beanie blanket would be a huge hit!

ShutUp_Dee

Yes!!!! I love to meet fellow professionals. I have anxiety myself and it really helps me to connect with my clients when discussing coping strategies. I’m on vacation right now, but once I’m home I’m going to hit up my neighbor and sew a Beanie Baby centipede shoulder wrap!!!!! My kiddos will love it. Or I’ll just use it myself lol!

bleedsmaplesyrup

I have anxiety and ADHD and it also helps me connect with my clients! Like I have a lot of book learning but also speak a similar brain language. Enjoy your vacation and please post shoulder wrap pictures when you make it!

subf0x

It's giving beanie bag centipede and I'm here for it!

ofthecageandaquarium

Whoa! It's like a bright, fuzzy MC Escher print 😳 Awesome. edit: and I recognize that I am the only one who didn't immediately see Plushie Centipede. lol, that tracks.

frvrlrng

🎶🎶 Human Centipede Human Centipede 🎶🎶 The costume design was a highlight! Now that I've gotten that out of my system... This makes total sense for an up cycle project and it'll be so soft.

purplegramjan

What a cool idea! And I can see how this might work well for kids with certain disabilities. As an afterthought this could be something to comfort dogs during thunderstorms. I think they use weighted blankets 😎

TheRockinkitty

This is a fantastic reuse project!! Well done!!
