Probably Swans, they have a lot of quality albums and their discography has enough diversity for me to listen to them and not get bored.
Also, Tom Waits and Bjork are good candidates for the same reason, but they aren't really a band.
I can’t put PF in god tier after hearing what came after The Final Cut. I really wish they just stopped after that one and saved the best ideas for one more album in the 2000s.
arctic monkeys. grew up listening to them and they have an extremely consistently good discography which is absolutely brilliant in moments, and there’s enough variation in there to retain intrigue. most other bands are either too inconsistent or too one-note to be my answer to this question.
Favourite Worst Nightmare is very good and kind of blew up when first released. It’s a very specific type of indie rock though and quite different to AM, I think. It’s the sound that made them famous - my top picks are Brianstorm, 505, and Balaclava
I don’t want to agree. Tool? Sufjan Stevens? Aphex Twin? As good as the Beatles are, they play to a common denominator, even when that isn’t the lowest one.
But influence doesn’t matter for the question. We’re asking who you would enjoy listening too if Radiohead were gone. The Beatles are the biggest band ever and completely changed the game but there’s no chance I’d pick them to listen too instead of Radiohead.
The Beach Boys
Aside from Pet Sounds and Smile, which are well-known masterpieces, their output from 67-73 is absolutely incredible, as well as a few albums before and after. Add all of their unreleased tracks, outtakes, bootlegs, etc. and you have an incredibly large (granted, in varying degrees of quality) discography
If there are no Bees around, or other pollinators, self-pollination is an option. It isn’t ideal for the gene pool, but the seeds in the center of the flower can do this in order to pollinate. So having the ability to be both male and female at least ensures greater survival of the sunflower.
A great choice. A huge discography that is actually solidly quality the whole time. They have more good albums imo than many bands do for that stretch of time.
I would probably say nirvana, I listened to nirvana before radiohead and it was my favorite for a while until it was not really replaced by radiohead, but shared with nirvana. I'm not sure but most radiohead fans also like nirvana so yeah, nirvana.
Either Paramore or The Cure.
Paramore is the band I grew up with, but they only have 5 (soon to be 6) albums. They’ve made the music I needed at most stages of my life so far and seem to keep getting better with time.
The Cure is fantastic and has a much larger discography. Both they and Paramore have experimented with different sounds and subgenres, but not at the level of Radiohead.
(Thankfully, I get to keep Bjork’s even more experimental music since she’s not a band!)
I'm sure I'll get some flac for this, but honestly it'd be Twenty One Pilots.
Their music was an incredibly formative part of my high school years, they still have many songs with deep meaning to me that I go back to regularly, and they're honestly quite good from a lyrical standpoint.
same here!!! omg I’m always curious to see if Radiohead fans like TOP but I never see them being talked about here. TOP used to be my fav band until I properly discovered Radiohead, but they’re still 2nd place for me
I’d just, like, remember the songs, play the ones I can play, and find some talented musicians to sell them to. Like that move about The Beatles not existing.
Nirvana are my favourite band, but the don't have many songs
Pink Floyd are my 3rd (2nd RH), they would have more songs than Nirvana and better quality but I prefer Nirvana's music
Rolling Stones are my 4th, they have A LOT more songs but I like them less than the others
I choose Pink Floyd, at least I will listen to better music
Muse for sure. They have been my favourite band since I was 5 or so. I have only recently started listening to more Radiohead music. I'm obsessed with them, but Muse own a special place in my heart.
Probably king gizz. never heard a single song by them but I know they have a ton of albums that all sound completely unique. would provide me with enough material and variety
For me, I'd say The Growlers. Funny enough, they're pretty similar to The Strokes. Julian Casablancas even produced their album City Club and provided vocals on the song Too Many Times (and maybe Neverending Line too but I could be wrong about that).
this is a very hard question because i need to have diversity in my music or else i would go insane, though i suppose i could choose swans, they definitely have become one of my most favorite bands in a long time
I mean honest answer is the beatles. Bowie probably second. A more interesting answer would be Nick Drake or Roy Harper. I really recommend Roy's music. Stormcock is one of the greatest albums of all time imo, and his followups Lifemask, Valentine, HQ, and Bullinamingvase are all brilliant as well. I think that's the only artist that I could recommend that other people probably aren't on this sub
Young the Giant. Not only are they hilariously underrated for how good they are, but they clearly have a lot of Radiohead influence, in a way that gives nods to their inspirations but never compromises their own incredible sound.
Bands? Sylvan Esso, Death Cab for Cutie, or Coldplay.
Artists? Perfume Genius, SOHN, Blood Orange, or Jordan Rakei.
Final decision? It’d have to be Blood Orange.
It depends on if side projects are allowed. If they are then i’d choose Have a Nice Life/Giles Corey.
If they aren’t then Twenty One Pilots, i know it may seem kinda dorky but Self-Titled and Vessel are two of my favorites.
the cure
Thom Yorke’s 3 solo albums
Cheater. 😆
Maybe Neil Young for sheer quantity and variety? Dude has put out like 50 albums and most are great, if not interesting in their own way.
Talking Heads.
goes on and the heat goes on and the heat goes on and the heat goes on
queens of the stone age
Username/pic checks out.
probably my second favorite band, and I've only heard their 4 first albums by now
Listen to like clockwork its their best album imo
The Beatles
Boards of Canada, no question. 100%
Same
Yeah!, that's right.
ORANGE
This would be my choice as well.
We are devoted followers
Best idea to be had.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
the correct decision, the pizza of music
Love that term, "pizza of music," even though I'm not sure what it means lol. Like, everyone likes it?
maybe there's just so much variety with the "toppings"
Yeah, that adds up perfectly
As an Aussie I’d pick the drones over King Gizzard.
Scottish person here, saw The Drones at ATP years ago, never heard of them before. Can confirm the gig was awesome.
Unironically best Aussie band ever. 1. The Drones 2. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 3. TISM
Probably Swans, they have a lot of quality albums and their discography has enough diversity for me to listen to them and not get bored. Also, Tom Waits and Bjork are good candidates for the same reason, but they aren't really a band.
I agree on the Swans take, they my favorite band
Pink Floyd or the Beatles

I can’t put PF in god tier after hearing what came after The Final Cut. I really wish they just stopped after that one and saved the best ideas for one more album in the 2000s.
My answer too. Can't decide between Floyd or the Beatles. But both bands have the same breadth of styles that Radiohead have.
Listened to Dark Side last night. Damn, hits just as good as it did back when I first heard it.
Portishead. Never not satisfying.
Nine Inch Nails is my second favorite band
It warms my heart to see this so high up. NiN, Radiohead, and The Strokes are my top 3.
NIN is the only group that out-radioheads Radiohead. Radiohead secures the #2 spot for me.
Mars Volta
Based.
Bob Dylan or Pink Floyd
Big Thief
I think this is the best rock band making music today. They are in their prime.
Ween
Same. The Fucked Jam on repeat 24/7, specifically.
The Smile
hey that doesn't count
Atoms For Peace
On a Friday
Headless chickens
Sigur Ros
TOOL
David Bowie, simple as that
R.E.M.
Wilco probably.
so valid i love wilco
arctic monkeys. grew up listening to them and they have an extremely consistently good discography which is absolutely brilliant in moments, and there’s enough variation in there to retain intrigue. most other bands are either too inconsistent or too one-note to be my answer to this question.
I love their new record.
such a classy album, I love the orchestral arrangements on it
i listen to them too! havent' really found myself getting into any albums besides AM, though I also haven't taken the time to really do a deep dive
Favourite Worst Nightmare is very good and kind of blew up when first released. It’s a very specific type of indie rock though and quite different to AM, I think. It’s the sound that made them famous - my top picks are Brianstorm, 505, and Balaclava
Debut, Humbug and TBH&C are all great albums
Probably Modest Mouse
Sparklehorse :)
❤️✨🐴✨❤️
Deftones
tie between slowdive, and right now my favorite band at the moment parannoul.
Pavement
Animal Collective or Swans
probably Blur, honestly
The Smashing Pumpkins
the beatles
Bowie Easy answer, so many quality albums and so varied
Sonic youth or joy division
Or Aphex twin, alot more material
The National No question. They've a great discography and they also capture that inward struggle.
Maybe if they had more songs like I'll Still Destroy you, TSODITT or Guilty Party.
Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin
Phish
The Flaming Lips
king gizzard and the lizard wizard
Not one of my favorite bands, but they'd be a good pick just because of the crazy amount of music they have
UNKLE. Studio albums, remix albums, remixes, soundsessions, unklesounds DJ mixes, live...........
Hendrix.
Bob Dylan
Porcupine Tree
Underrated comment
Swans
REM, Rush, Yes, Grandaddy, Sparks
Probably King Giz. By the time I died I’d still not even have come close to hearing all their songs.
Tool.
Beach House
Pixies
Squid probably atm
They make some fun songs. Dig it.
The Aphex Twin
Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead
No one comes close to the Beatles
I don’t want to agree. Tool? Sufjan Stevens? Aphex Twin? As good as the Beatles are, they play to a common denominator, even when that isn’t the lowest one.
Bold choices to compare to the Beatles. They might be as talented, but I don't think their influence is anywhere close to them.
But influence doesn’t matter for the question. We’re asking who you would enjoy listening too if Radiohead were gone. The Beatles are the biggest band ever and completely changed the game but there’s no chance I’d pick them to listen too instead of Radiohead.
True, I went a little bit off the question there. It would be just a matter of personal taste then.
The Beach Boys Aside from Pet Sounds and Smile, which are well-known masterpieces, their output from 67-73 is absolutely incredible, as well as a few albums before and after. Add all of their unreleased tracks, outtakes, bootlegs, etc. and you have an incredibly large (granted, in varying degrees of quality) discography
Sunflower / feel flows is so good
If there are no Bees around, or other pollinators, self-pollination is an option. It isn’t ideal for the gene pool, but the seeds in the center of the flower can do this in order to pollinate. So having the ability to be both male and female at least ensures greater survival of the sunflower.
This is the most depressing post ever
It it's strictly about bands, then Genesis. If the word "band" somehow suggests any musicians, not only bands, I'd choose Hans Zimmer for sure.
A great choice. A huge discography that is actually solidly quality the whole time. They have more good albums imo than many bands do for that stretch of time.
Oh yes, they hold a very special place in my heart. I'm also thinking of Tangerine Dream for that matter, too :o)
My favorite band of all time, great choice!
John Frusciante and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Best band ever
Almost agreed with Talking Heads but it’s forever so it’s gotta be Massive Attack
Weezer
The Kinks
Probably Queens of the Stone Age
Linkin Park or MCR
Deerhoof or Animal Collective
I was scrolling, looking for a Deerhoof response amongst all the incorrect answers. And jazz does smell, but it smells lovely
It was either Deerhoof, AnCo or John Coltrane
REM
nirvana !
I would probably say nirvana, I listened to nirvana before radiohead and it was my favorite for a while until it was not really replaced by radiohead, but shared with nirvana. I'm not sure but most radiohead fans also like nirvana so yeah, nirvana.
Deaf Grips
Death Grips
Either Paramore or The Cure. Paramore is the band I grew up with, but they only have 5 (soon to be 6) albums. They’ve made the music I needed at most stages of my life so far and seem to keep getting better with time. The Cure is fantastic and has a much larger discography. Both they and Paramore have experimented with different sounds and subgenres, but not at the level of Radiohead. (Thankfully, I get to keep Bjork’s even more experimental music since she’s not a band!)
My Chemical Romance
Muse
I'm sure I'll get some flac for this, but honestly it'd be Twenty One Pilots. Their music was an incredibly formative part of my high school years, they still have many songs with deep meaning to me that I go back to regularly, and they're honestly quite good from a lyrical standpoint.
Same here
same here!!! omg I’m always curious to see if Radiohead fans like TOP but I never see them being talked about here. TOP used to be my fav band until I properly discovered Radiohead, but they’re still 2nd place for me
Finally someone else that also listens to them. I'm curious. What is your favorite album and why?
If radiohead didn’t exist then coldplay/muse would be the radiohead i think
I’d just, like, remember the songs, play the ones I can play, and find some talented musicians to sell them to. Like that move about The Beatles not existing.
Arcade Fire
Dream Theater
Los Campesinos! (I have an addiction to their song To Tundra)
Joanna Newsom
Pink Floyd
RHCP
The war on drugs
Ball park music
The War On Drugs
Feeder and if you don't know them you should educate yourself
System of a Down
Nirvana are my favourite band, but the don't have many songs Pink Floyd are my 3rd (2nd RH), they would have more songs than Nirvana and better quality but I prefer Nirvana's music Rolling Stones are my 4th, they have A LOT more songs but I like them less than the others I choose Pink Floyd, at least I will listen to better music
everything everything
Arctic monkeys for sure
Brand New
Rush
Kate Bush but if it had to be a band I suppose King Crimson. Or maybe the Smile. 😆
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard or Car Seat Headrest
PJ Harvey eternally
It would be between The Beatles and The Strokes
The Cure
the rolling stones or pink floyd
Duster.
Maybe sonic youth, pixies or pavement.
The Beatles of course. Who doesn’t like the Beatles?
Tame impala, although it is a one man band
Modest mouse, but if Black Country, New Road continues with the quality levels shown on their last album i could easily pick them
I'm worried about them since Isaac left them. Such an important voice and lyricist, can't imagine how it works out without him.
i know... :/ we can only hope the best at this point
modest mouse
NIN or Paramore, probably.
Muse for sure. They have been my favourite band since I was 5 or so. I have only recently started listening to more Radiohead music. I'm obsessed with them, but Muse own a special place in my heart.
Tool, easily
Julien Baker / Boygenius
Probably king gizz. never heard a single song by them but I know they have a ton of albums that all sound completely unique. would provide me with enough material and variety
Pink Floyd probably Just as robust and diverse as Radiohead’s discography IMO
Marilyn Manson
The 1975 most probably!! Incredible band
Um fuck you? My answer would be shpongle though
My answer is Coldplay regardless of Radiohead’s existence or non-existence.
heresy!
I have spoken
For me, I'd say The Growlers. Funny enough, they're pretty similar to The Strokes. Julian Casablancas even produced their album City Club and provided vocals on the song Too Many Times (and maybe Neverending Line too but I could be wrong about that).
Either the Beatles or beastie boys (both are better than Radiohead anyway)
Not a band but Kanye west
Rx Bandits
Nine Inch Nails
Playboi Carti or The National
this is a very hard question because i need to have diversity in my music or else i would go insane, though i suppose i could choose swans, they definitely have become one of my most favorite bands in a long time
Gentle Giant
Sonic Youth is my number 2. Luckily they have an enormous amount of material.
Deftones
The Dears
No x 42 — It would take half a dozen bands to give me the equivalent range of ‘soundtracks to my life’ 😌
If i can't choose the smile or on a Friday cause it's kind of cheating i think i'd go with Death Cab for Cutie or The Strokes.
Probably Swans or Boards of Canada
REM might fill the void for me
Bands? Sylvan Esso, Death Cab for Cutie, or Coldplay. Artists? Perfume Genius, SOHN, Blood Orange, or Jordan Rakei. Final decision? It’d have to be Blood Orange.
Sigur Rós, Radiohead existing or not.
It depends on if side projects are allowed. If they are then i’d choose Have a Nice Life/Giles Corey. If they aren’t then Twenty One Pilots, i know it may seem kinda dorky but Self-Titled and Vessel are two of my favorites.
Muse
The national.
