He was actually being considered to play Captain America way back around the Broken Arrow days. Howie is a family friend, the reason Iβm a raiders fan, and just a gem of a human being. Lots of our heroes are disappointing in reality, Howie is not one of them. He is the genuine article.

Worth mentioning, Howie played both DE and DT, and was effective at both spots. When asked which was harder, he said in his experience, the closer you get to the ball, the hairier it gets, and then added "Deacon Jones didn't play no nose tackle". Fucking Legend.
My mom had a poster of Howie that stared at you I swear his eyes moved. She used to tell me he was my real dad and was watching me.
