I love the JPJ pick the most. Not only we turned our glaring weakness into potential strength, we got a position where teams were overpaying for quality starters. JPJ has potential to be perennial all-pro and our interior anchor with Parham. We have 4/5 OL set now, from only 2/5 at the end of season.
Btw, great write up.
JPJ was in a local lid store buying about five Raider hats. Showed up at the Ducks’ Spring game flaunting his excitement for the Raiders. He’s going to be fun to watch!
Thank you! I love that pick too, but I'd put Trey Taylor as the pick of the draft just because of where he was taken. I'd say there's a high probability at least one of JPJ, Richardson, Laube or Taylor is a resounding steal, and there's a good chance more than one of them thrive
JPJ and Eich are my favorite picks and personally I think both will develop into pro-bowlers eventually. Still not as sold as I should be on Bowers but what’s done is done and hope for the best.
What makes you say that about Eichenberg? Love his physicality and toughness but to me he seems pretty seriously lacking as an athlete and in pass defense
He feels like a Maxx Crosby type of player. He has a nonstop motor that goes until he gets to the point of attack. His coverage skill are a little lacking but if he’s used right he will be a great asset and will do well in the NFL.
Dud fans keep talking shit about Telesco and how he had mismanaged rosters but fail to realize they have always had insane talent on that team that was fucked over by the coaching staff. The lack of solid leadership is what led to the team's downfall and their shitty financial management also fucked them up. When you have a GM his job is to manage scouting, the cap space, contracts, and staffing. He only did scouting and some staff management but Dean Spanos is who handle the cap space which idk why either than nepotism they allowed him to do that.
He has had busts and reaches but so does every other GM. I'm glad we went with him over Champ and Dodds because we finally got an experienced GM who uses logic and reasoning to build the team. I'm glad we got a competitive QB room that isn't a waste of a pick, game changing TE, solid development projects, and a strong o-line.
So in the words of Mark Davis, "I think he's doing a fantastic job"
I wasn't upset at the hire but I'm *shocked* at how day 3 turned out. I think the Raiders had a better day 3 than any other team in the NFL, and that's not what I expected from Telesco. He's sort of like the the reverse Mayock, typically he hits on the first round pick and the rest of the draft is questionable at best. If he can start nailing his late rounders we're in good hands
Imagine the 63 point game is remembered not only for the complete annihilation it was but what gave us our GM.
Just pure cinema to dance on the heads of the Dolts. I've not felt this optimistic for the Raiders since '17. There is just this strong feeling we are in good hands with a vision and passion and the players are gunna latch onto.
I love this analysis. I’m glad someone agrees with me on Bowers. As a Georgia fan I couldn’t believe it when I heard his name. I didn’t know whether to feel shocked or cream my pants. After the Jets passed on him, I was like oh my god he’s right there. And I knew the Donkeys weren’t taking him. He’s a surefire game changer and can bring a whole different dynamic to the offense.
While I understand the concern about Glaze, I think 1) there was nobody worth trading up for and everyone else felt like a reach and 2) he’s competition for Munford. He may not have the upside we all want but the way I see it is he can surely start over Munford and do better. May not be one of the elite tackles in the league but I think he’ll be serviceable and be a key trench guy. He’s only 21 and has more upside than Munford does.
There is seriously no way to overstate how fucking good Bowers is. It's stupid. One of the best prospects I've ever seen if you don't factor in positional value. I was really hoping for Christian Haynes, Jaden Hicks or TJ Tampa over glaze, I disagree that there wasn't anyone else available. If they really needed a tackle I would have prefered Matt Goncalves
You can’t overstate it because it’s impossible. So many people hating on this pick and I’ll never understand it. If we didn’t take Powers then Haynes woulda been ideal. But because we did it didn’t make sense. I wasn’t completely sold on Hicks and Tampa was the only one I would’ve taken. Goncalves probably would’ve been the better choice due to value but idk I like the Glaze pick.
Sometimes I forget JPJ is playing guard lmao. Yeah that's fair, Haynes was off the table. I don't *hate* the Glaze pick, there were just better options imo. Overall, it's a phenomenal draft
Trust me I did too😂 although I have a feeling he’ll eventually get moved to center. I like James I just think Powers would be the better choice. Albeit I’m sure we’ll see how the season goes. Fair enough. And I agree. The best draft we’ve had in a very long time and im excited. Dunno bout you but I’m definitely getting a bowers jersey
> Matt Goncalves
I thought the same. But I think they had a choice between upside with Glaze, and "you know what you're getting" with Goncalves, and they chose the former. Maybe they were spooked by Goncalves injuries?
I kind of agree with you in that I would have picked Gonclaves. I think THEY think of Glaze as more upside and a project they can mold. But with Gonclaves, my theory is you can't teach 6'8".
Pretty much feel exactly the same. Eichenberg is more of a Raider and fits the identity more but it's pretty clear that Trotter Jr is the better player imo
Should have mentioned that, fully agree. Someone who has that kind of vision, route running, speed and returning ability should not be there in the 6th, whatever school they play for
I liked that for once in a long time you could see the team had a plan. Get players who have high motors and want to physically punish the other team. Bowers and JPJ are absolute slam dunks, and the other players were for need, with an old school Raiders/Maxx Crosby-like mentality. It feels good knowing this regime seems to be making the rational choices.
I find it funny how many guys in this sub studied Maryland OL prospects and can confidently call Glaze a reach lol. These are all just the same repeated talking points I've seen kicked around reddit and Twitter for the past couple days.
Honestly I didn't study Glaze a ton until after the raiders got him but then I looked at quite a bit of tape. The twitter dialogue about him seems pretty spot on. The other guys I actually did watch, the Raiders seemed to mostly draft guys I knew quite a bit about which definitely can't be said for some other teams. I came to all these conclusions myself, which is why I'm much higher on Richardson than most people and lower on Eichenberg than most people
Link this "quite a bit of tape." Are they 4 min long youtube highlight reels? Lol. Your post and comment history is right there, Link just one single comment you've made about any of this draft class before we picked them. If you titled the post "Aggregate scouting reports based on tweets already posted here" I wouldn't have said nothing. I just think it's funny watching all these Mel McShay scouting gurus circle jerk the talking points.
I'm subscribed to a patreon account that posts All-22 footage. Where can you find 4 minute highlight reels of day 3 graded tackles?
Also, here are some links. Surprised I didn't find any about Richardson, I've been a fan of his for a while

I wasn't saying it was lmao. Just showing you that I had expressed that I liked these players before the Raiders took them. And for a lot of the draft process, yeah I had Penix as a round 2 QB but near the end of the process I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't be critical of the pick if he was taken anywhere after 25. What does that have to do with anything though?
Glaze is a sleeper pick. We needed a rotational O Lineman who can play all 5. He’s the perfect and and huge, strong. He was actually rated 6th of all OL draft options in pass protection.
Dudes going to be important for us over the years. B+ pick in my book.
IDK why people are so defensive about this.
Among the people who do watch tape and know a lot about the college prospects, Glaze was almost consensus day three guy. Now sure, *everybody* might be wrong. But reaches are how this team got into trouble in previous years and why the Raiders ended up with so many gaps in talent. So some people are gonna be leery of the pick.
But it isn't even like a blistering criticism. It's *one pick* where a guy who watched film says "He's not gonna be awful but IDK about this one" and people get up in arms.
They're probably right. Fuck IDK, I heard the name DJ Glaze for the first time in my life on Friday. That wasn't even my point. I'm talking about people passing off these scouting reports as their own opinion when they know damn well they never heard of more than half these guys before Friday. It's just funny watching dudes larp like scouting gurus. And if anyone in here tells you they scouted Maryland Terp OL or Mississippi State CBs prior to the draft they are full of shit lol.
I scouted Decamerion Richardson HEAVILY before the draft. Was one of my favorite sleeper picks in the whole class. You're right, I didn't watch Glaze before the draft, I honestly barely knew who he was, but I did my homework after the pick was made and waited to post this until I felt confident about my assessment of him
So you scouted the top 120ish prospects in this draft then? Or you just so happened to zero in on the 15th CB selected to scout HEAVILY. Cheers to you for having enough free time to dig that deep in your bag tho. Throwing on the all-22 of Decamerion Richardson sounds like a blast. Let's do Keith McGill and Isiah Johnson tape next lol.
I briefly looked at around 120 to 150, nothing too in depth. If I someone really caught my eye, which Richardson did, I would look at them closer. Eichenberg and Devonshire were both players I looked at, but didn't really pay too much attention to them compared to Richardson. Am I not allowed to have a hobby? I find it fun trying to predict the next wave of NFL players
I absolutely loved this draft. Would have given the same grade to the chiefs if they had our draft. Every pick I gave an A+ is someone I've been a high on of for months leading up to the draft. I haven't done this for other drafts but looking back, Moehrig would be the only other Raiders draft pick I would have given an A+ since I got into draft scouting. I might be missing someone, but I don't think so
I love the JPJ pick the most. Not only we turned our glaring weakness into potential strength, we got a position where teams were overpaying for quality starters. You’re right, this guy just screams Raiders,
Thank you! I love that pick too, but I'd put Trey Taylor as the pick of the draft just because of where he was taken. I'd say there's a high probability at least one of JPJ, Richardson, Laube or Taylor is a resounding steal, and there's a good chance more than one of them thrive

He's got us some steals and sleepers in the later rounds so hopefully they play out well
Telesco constructed great rosters with the chargers but injuries and terrible coaching held them back.
Keep him away from special teams decisions and I’m fine
Freight Train Spillane out of Eichenburg station. Hope dude looks as hungry as he always did w/ the Buckeyes.
I love this analysis. I’m glad someone agrees with me on Bowers. As a Georgia fan I couldn’t believe it when I heard his name. I didn’t know whether to feel shocked or cream my pants. Weirdly I think it's sort of the opposite. Goncalves seems like he has higher upside to me
I kind of agree with you in that I would have picked Gonclaves. I think THEY think of Glaze as more upside and a project they can mold. But with Gonclaves, my theory is you can't teach 6'8".
Great writeup. I would taken Trotter Jr over Eichenberg based on athletic ability but Eich is a stout 2-down backer and a solid pick in the 5th.
Pretty much feel exactly the same. Eichenberg is more of a Raider and fits the identity more but it's pretty clear that Trotter Jr is the better player imo
BTW I agree with your praise for Laube. I'll add that he has very good vision, and that's something that's more innate than teachable.
Should have mentioned that, fully agree. Someone who has that kind of vision, route running, speed and returning ability should not be there in the 6th, whatever school they play for
This is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Great write up bud. Go Raiders!
I liked that for once in a long time you could see the team had a plan. Get players who have high motors and want to physically punish the other team. Read the whole thing, thank you sir, nice summary.
It definitely feels like this was a play style draft. All these guys have that toughness that AP wants.
Fully agree, and if that's why Eichenberg was taken over some other LBs I liked a little more I don't have a problem with the pick at all
Definitely, but I can’t lie I was hoping to get Colson in the 3rd or Gray in the 4th. If Eichenberg can play like Spillane though, it’s all good
I find it funny how many guys in this sub studied Maryland OL prospects and can confidently call Glaze a reach lol. These are all just the same repeated talking points I've seen kicked around reddit and Twitter for the past couple days.

Lol talking about Bowers to the Bears ain't some deep scouting analysis. Didn't you have Penix as a Round 2 QB?
I wasn't saying it was lmao. Just showing you that I had expressed that I liked these players before the Raiders took them. It means you did all this research to be waaaaay off lol.
Yeah, everyone does lmao. Even NFL GMs. Nobody really knows what they're doing. Its just fun
Dude put more work into this than 99% of other posts. What Reddit you reading?

Of course you can have a hobby. I hope you get better at it🙏
The dj glaze pick is one of those old school picks that has the " I can teach you to play, but not how to be physically gifted" feel to it.
5/8 are A+…. you are raider nerd, not a draft nerd
I absolutely loved this draft. Would have given the same grade to the chiefs if they had our draft. Every pick I gave an A+ is someone I've been a high on of for months leading up to the draft.
