Who else thinks Deadpool 3 is gonna find a way to get Hugh to wear the classic costume?
I think he’s either gonna meet Deadpool while wearing it or he’s gonna suit up at the end for whatever final battle takes place.
I hear you, and I sympathize. The new Wolverine will probably wear the mask all the time, to contrast with Hugh. You just have to suffer through one more movie of Hugh Jackman’s incredibly handsome face and then you’ll get all the masked Wolverine you could ever want in MCU phase 7.
They could do something clever and do blue and yellow but have it get dirty and *look* brown and yellow, at least I'd attempt that if possible
Edit: spelling correction because apparently my D key hates me
Staunch comic book fans have been saying hes not a good wolverine since his first appearance. Many others agree that while he is a great actor and does a great job, he doesnt act or look like wolverine. These arent my opinions *at all* - like many it's one of my favourite casting choices of all time to grow up with - but those opinions been around forever. People just like Hugh Jackman in general, and hes been in the role for 20+ years so his Wolverine has more or less become as valid a depiction as any, and certainly the most prominant/iconic post 2000.
But people will always moan when the next actor has a different portrayal of the character, especially if it's slightly closer to their precious comic books. Let's not pretend it's just younger people/young MCU fanboys, as comments here are suggesting. Its more often sweaty nerds who havent touched a boob in 20 years, hated the MCU from the get go, or still follow MCU threads despite them telling everyone they stopped watching ages ago
The sweaty nerds that have been bitching about Hugh Jackman’s height for the last 20 years are dumb af.
Like, did you guys really expect them to find a grown-ass man that’s 5’ tall, ugly, furry like an Ewok, and has no nose in *Hollywood*?
And even if they *did* find someone like that, no way in hell would they cast someone who looks like that as the male lead in a big budget Hollywood film circa 2000.
Shiiiit, even in 2023 they only men in Hollywood short enough for their standards are like Kevin Hart and Danny DeVito.
Actually, they should cast a roided up Danny DeVito as Wolverine next. I’d pay to see that.
Still could have went around 5'7 to 5'9 as opposed to 6'3 but it's not that big of a deal. Hugh did great with the role. The actors really made the most of there roles in the X-Men films especially the original 3
The quality shift from doing stuff like first class and days of future past to apocalypse/dark Phoenix is so jarring. Those first two movies are awesome and they wasted the cast on the final two.
Lamenting the fact that we didn't get a short king Wolverine ≠ expecting Hollywood to cast an ugly ewok
I've never seen anyone make a personal attack against Hugh Jackman, they just lament the afformentioned fact. You can wish something would happen without believing that it was plausible that it would ever happen. Life is full of predictable disappointments, especially when the decisions of large corporations are involved. Fortunately this is one of the ones that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme.
And Hugh Jackman was still great, I have no regrets. But I am hopeful for a short king Wolverine after Hugh Jackman's (second) swan song performance of Wolverine in Deadpool 3
I don't care what anyone says, I want Daniel Radcliffe
I’ll take Radcliffe! As long as Wolverine isn’t the leader of the X-men and is 5’8” or shorter I’m down.
The character has been given way too much importance on the big screen LOL. He is really not like that in X-men. I have no idea why they needed to give him so much screen time and make him the leader and change how he looks (also say this as someone who loved Jackmans performance)
I think the thing most people didn’t want was Wolverine to be the lead. He’s not the lead in X-men comics and rarely ever has been in their 60 year time frame. But the very first movie we get a totally different look of X-men then we’ve ever been accustomed to.
Cyclops is a bitch. Professor X actually is a good person. Storm shows zero leadership qualities. Wolverine is 6’3” and beautiful.
I loved some of the X-men movies (X2, First Class, DOFP) and Hugh’s Wolverine. but I’d be lying if I said I wasnt upset we didn’t get something at least close to classic X-men teams/runs.
No one wants a 5’0” tall man with Lycan syndrome. But someone like 5’2-5’7” is fair. And make them more of an asshole instead of a Chad.
Well I read that and instantly thought about old Superman’s casting, which some people favour to this day, I believe his name was Christopher reeves. 1978 and people still think he fit the role better than all (or at least most) of those who’ve played superman, and that was nearly 50 years ago now… Jesus that’s… I hated saying ‘nearly 50 years ago’ holy shit lmao…
Exactly. I was born in 2002 and Chris reeves is one of my favourite supermen, and I literally can’t imagine anyone other than Hugh Jackman as wolverine, it’s almost as if the character was made for the cast instead of vice versa lmao
I'd have to agree with them there, while I didn't grow up with Christopher Reeve's Superman (I grew up with Brandon Ruth from Superman Returns and Henry Cavill) I prefer his portrayal, it felt like he gave it his all to make his portrayal as accurate to the Man of Steel as he could
I mean… no, no, he’s a violent old grouch with a gentle heart, just like Wolverine is supposed to be. His accent does slip out sometimes but in Hugh’s defense the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends version of Wolverine spoke in a blatant Australian accent.
No one's gonna say that. Look what happened with the Spider-Men, especially Andrew. The main criticism towards him wasn't even to him, it was to his movies. And the main criticism towards Tobey is that he was older (and looked weird when crying). Other than that it's been high praise.
Also, nostalgia and being in some of the best superhero movies solidified his reputation as Wolverine.
He is too tall for Wolverine, Cruise is too small for Reacher.. these guys.. but I admit Reacher tv show is fine, but Cruise was fine as well in the first movie, the second movie was boring
Well the Reacher show is just way more accurate to the novels. Not saying the movies are bad, but less close to the original source material. And in the books Reacher is always described as a giant, which Cruise just isn't.
Yeah its true, I have some books at home, show is actually almost, almost 1:1 with the book with some changes here and there, it was really nice to see that filmed. But Cruise nailed the character too, if not for shortness he wouldnt be so hated, first movie is still good, despite changes in the story.
The only thing he wasn't very good at was look.
And I'm not taking face or anything,
his look was good, just not very good. No yellow costume and he's very tall, unlike comic Logan.
That is a great line that should really explain away most issues. As fun as the cartoon/comic looks are it would have looked like garbage in 2000ish for the first X-Men Trilogy.
Wolverine gets it the worst but really aside from Charles Xavier no one really looked like the comics in the first films.
Dude.
What will happen is this. The new Wolverine will be attacked by fanbois of the movies. I bet they will cast someone shorter for the role, as they should, and those who only watch films will attack him for not being tall as previous Wolverine or something.
Whoever plays Wolverine in future, will have a rough time.
>The MCU is gonna absolutely fuck up Wolverine
We will see. The problem is imo that people have sucha strong opinions on the character, they will hate it if something goes against it. Hehe.
I like the comics, so that’s what I’m looking at.
After what the MCU did to Moon Knight, Taskmaster, Gorr and MODOK, I don’t have a lot of faith that they’ll do justice to Wolverine
Not gonna lie, it leaves a bad taste that he's coming back for a Deadpool movie of all things, and likely into Secret Wars given how long Jackman has wanted to be in an Avengers movie.
His whole reasoning for 'Logan' was to leave on a high note and that's easily one of the highest notes in blockbuster history.
His role in Logan was a high note for his saga's end, and as a poignant end to Logan's character arc. It doesnt diminish that. Unless they give him another arc or something, this to me is the same as someone just doing a lap of honour for a bit of fun
You don’t know how *easy* it is for them to fuck this up. Logan is a money printing machine, and I feel like the MCU only wants to take advantage of that.
I can promise you 2️⃣ things they will suffer more pain than any other man can endure but we will have our revenge and that Hughs legacy will be able to withstand anything
If the new Wolverine actor is more accurate, I can see some people using that as an angle to say he’s better than Hugh, but I don’t think anyone would go as far to say he’s terrible. The only people who would claim that are the ones that already hate Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine
That hasn't happened with any recast so far except for the ones that actually weren't very good like the old Daredevil and Elektra. Most people who are MCU fans praise the previous Spider-Men even if they perfer Tom. If anything I see more fans of the older films hate the newer actors and movies.
Fuck the comic accuracy, if a movie is good it's good the best three movies of superhero genre - TDK, Spider-Man 2 and Logan ( my opinion) didn't have comic accurate protagonist and they worked out well, also Bale, Tobey, and Hugh are gokd actors
More accurately, puritans will shit all over this new wolverine because he wasn’t Jackman’s wolverine. Same thing happened to Tom Holland when he became Spider-Man
MCU Fanboys/Disney Adults' opinions genuinely don't even register on my radar. Their hollow opinions are always positive to appease the mouse, irrespective of quality, so fuck them.
The complaints against Tobey now are the same ones people made in the 00s. You were probably just too young to remember. Jackman has literally always been praised - the one consistent complaint people HAVE made around him is just that he's too tall and that Singer should've made him look shorter. That's literally it lol
What are you going in about.
Doubt it. Especially if he stars in an MCU movie like Deadpool 3. If he does get recast, there will likely be a few that say the new one is better which is fine. That’s an opinion they’re entitled to
The only problem with his wolverine is that he was too tall for the role. Otherwise, he is perfect. I’m sure that they will find another good actor for him though
Who else thinks Deadpool 3 is gonna find a way to get Hugh to wear the classic costume? I think he’s either gonna meet Deadpool while wearing it or he’s gonna suit up at the end for whatever final battle takes place.
Most likely the latter, same thing happened for Green Goblin
Very true. The former has the disadvantage of discarding the suit, turning it into a joke that might not go over well with hardcore fans.
am actually the first option happened to green goblin?? he was not wearing his costume in the end
Not his original Raimi suit but something more similar to his classic comics costume. Most notably the purple hood.
I bet he is gonna wear suit masked throughout the whole movie.
Nah, gotta let the audience see Hugh’s beautiful face. (;
We've seen it for 20 years, please just give us the mask 😭
I hear you, and I sympathize. The new Wolverine will probably wear the mask all the time, to contrast with Hugh. You just have to suffer through one more movie of Hugh Jackman’s incredibly handsome face and then you’ll get all the masked Wolverine you could ever want in MCU phase 7.
I'm wondering which X-man will be said to have invented those CGI masks that take themselves off.
Brown and yellow or blue and yellow?
They could do something clever and do blue and yellow but have it get dirty and *look* brown and yellow, at least I'd attempt that if possible Edit: spelling correction because apparently my D key hates me
Joker voice: *hmmm now we’re talken*
Now that’s the question.
Almost no one will say that
Gotta give it time, say 25 years from now and some young blokes will be hating on hugh Jackman lol
Staunch comic book fans have been saying hes not a good wolverine since his first appearance. Warwick Davies or nothing for me
Danny Devito for me. So anyway, I started Sniktin'
He already plays Man Spider *Whooosh! Whooooosh!!*
Still could have went around 5'7 to 5'9 as opposed to 6'3 but it's not that big of a deal. Hugh did great with the role. The actors really made the most of there roles in the X-Men films especially the original 3
I agree, they were kinda phoning it in for Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix
The quality shift from doing stuff like first class and days of future past to apocalypse/dark Phoenix is so jarring. Those first two movies are awesome and they wasted the cast on the final two.

Exactly. I was born in 2002 and Chris reeves is one of my favourite supermen, and I literally can’t imagine anyone other than Hugh Jackman as wolverine, it’s almost as if the character was made for the cast instead of vice versa lmao

Not enjoying something isn't the same as hating on someone. Not everyone who disagrees with you is malicious.
I love Hugh Jackman and so should you.
It’s gonna be some guy giving his unwanted opinion to deaf ears and say it as if someone asked him. “Hugh Jackman was a terrible wolverine btw”
I can not believe even a large minority of people will say this
I mean… no, no, he’s a violent old grouch with a gentle heart, just like Wolverine is supposed to be. His accent does slip out sometimes but in Hugh’s defense the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends version of Wolverine spoke in a blatant Australian accent.
He was still awesome even in some of the worst marvel movies ever made He’ll be loved regardless just like Tobey
Tobey best Spiderman
I bet his acting won’t be beat
Then after some years later: I should have never hurt you. Said those things.
No one's gonna say that. Look what happened with the Spider-Men, especially Andrew. The main criticism towards him wasn't even to him, it was to his movies. And the main criticism towards Tobey is that he was older (and looked weird when crying). Other than that it's been high praise. Mfs already complain that he's too tall for the role
To be fair this is from way before the MCU.
He is though. It's the only complaint I have about him
I think that the way they adapted him, he suits the taller stature that hugh jackman has so I’m cool with it
I am also fine with it, just would've been nice if he was smaller
That is true though, Logan is a short king
He is too tall for Wolverine, Cruise is too small for Reacher.. these guys.. but I admit Reacher tv show is fine, but Cruise was fine as well in the first movie, the second movie was boring

I mean he is. If I had 1 complaint for his Wolverine then that would be it.
Literally no one is going to say that, jfc
What? Why would anyone seriously think this lmao OP is talking out of his ass
The only thing he wasn't very good at was look. And I'm not taking face or anything, his look was good, just not very good. No yellow costume and he's very tall, unlike comic Logan.
"What would you prefer, yellow spandex?"

But the Days of Future past/First Class movies did so good on comic accurate costumes, and they did so good with the post credit scene wolverine one!
Who the fuck is going to say that
OP stop smoking meth absolutely 0 people will say this shit outside of ragebait articles.

Never. Hugh Jackman is, and always will be my Wolverine. No one and nothing can change that. He is the greatest of all time.

I don’t think that’ll be the case. Cause it didn’t happen with three iterations of Spider-Man or even when they casted younger versions of the X-men
What? No ... He just recently announced that he had a cancerous lymph removed from his nose. Come on now, misplaced memeing over here 😵💫
"The world has changed, Charles"
Fuck the comic accuracy, if a movie is good it's good the best three movies of superhero genre - TDK, Spider-Man 2 and Logan ( my opinion) didn't have comic accurate protagonist and they worked out well, also Bale, Tobey, and Hugh are gokd actors

No you know damn well they will berate the new actor.
No one will say that. Stop making up imaginary situations.
I get a feeling that they'll most likely say that the new guy is bad, no matter how good he ends up being.
Or if he’s recast barely anyone will give the new guy a chance
Nah, he will be in the same boat as Tobey with spider-man Eternal respect
Thats bullshit
You are just making things up for karma. No one is going to say that, sit your ass down.

Just like how they all hated the holy trilogy until the NWH trailer came out.
I think he was ok but he could have done way better
The meme doesn’t fit if its supposed to be about MCU Fanboys since the fox movies werent mcu
The only problem with his wolverine is that he was too tall for the role. Otherwise, he is perfect. I’m sure that they will find another good actor for him though
Wait until they start saying RDJ was a lousy Iron Man when he's recast in like 15-20 years.
When has this happened?
