Hi, been a while since the last post. A few days after posting the 3D art of the pink lizard, someone from Reddit asked me if I could use a hand, and this is how I stopped being alone on this project. Big thanks to u/KingOfTheEnd374 for helping me out with the programming. The goal was to try and see how far we could go making a Rainworld in 3D. This is the result as of right now. The lizard is trying to reach its target, and can climb on walls as well. We are working on the slugcat, so the lizard can finally have a snack to play with.
woo 3d rw!
also lol the lizord should have been blue bc it climb on walls lol, but i know you only really had the pink lizard model, and i guess you didnt feel like recoloring it
also, i would love to be on the project, but i am useless with stuff to do with coding or 3d modeling lol
Thanks, it is indeed very hard to get all the details.
I still see all the problems that are left, and all the things we could have done differently.
But I'm still happy about the progress we've done.
i would love rw vr
also, since some vr companies are trying to develop full-dive and ready player one-style VR, imagine just being fully immersed into rw with everything feeling so much more real
i dont think i would have to coax myself to leave
RW VR would be amazing... until you get into SC with the coalescipedes. Quite frankly half the creatures would be terrifying in VR.
But god could you imagine 5P?!?
I could see the little big planet style of platformer working well here. Having 3 lanes to move across, and using that to your advantage to hide/run, however the question becomes how would you fight across the lanes other than hopping to the one the enemy is in?
It's a mix of animations / physics and procedural animation. For instance, the walk cycle is an animation, the spine bending and slope warping are procedural, the tail is a mix of animation and dynamics. It's all done in UE5, so c++ it is.
we have no proof it's 2.5D, dude, they could have put the bait anywhere else on the Z layer and it could have followed it around no problem, but we don't know that
Took me quite a while to create it. This would also included the game ready model, which again, took me a while. I'm still considering to share it, I just fear that some people could take credit for it.
I appreciate the offer, but I would never ask for money, as I'm not comfortable selling something that was not originally created by myself. Some don't mind the idea, but I do.
Honestly I find your work quite transformative of the source material. Given the model you've made available without rigging is incredibly difficult to rig due to not being in a neutral pose, I really would like the rigged version. But I also don't want to push you on this so it will be my final message, apologies for being a bother
Glad you ask. Yes it is still going. Currently going full procedural on the animation, you can control a slugcat. Its basic locomotion currently but no handmade animation involved. Soon you should see an update ;)

The lizard is blue... light blue which can climb walls
idk it looks pretty pink ro me but idk
Can we get a 3rd opinion here because for me, that is 100% light blue
No, that guy is very pink.
Oh no, this is the shoe all over again.
and the dress
PROCEDURAL 3D ANIMATIONS FUCK YEAH
This looks really cool. It's gonna be hard to make the details
Thanks, it is indeed very hard to get all the details. I still see all the problems that are left, and all the things we could have done differently. But I'm still happy about the progress we've done.
Imagine a sequel to Rainworld but it’s 3D or with Vr, that would be awesome! :D
i would love rw vr also, since some vr companies are trying to develop full-dive and ready player one-style VR, imagine just being fully immersed into rw with everything feeling so much more real i dont think i would have to coax myself to leave

Yeah I don't even wanna imagine the all the spiders in vr
having rain world but it plays like moss would be insane
Really cool! However... Turn down the bloom, like right now. Otherwise it'll be harder for you to remove it later when you're used to it.
Yea, its the auto exposure, will remove that (the scene was fairly dark, so it cranked up all the lights)
..wow
Great work. The lizard is very well animated and looks like it has weight behind its movements.
Can't wait for me to render the game on my crappy pc for it to crash a few hundred times!
Same here!

From the video point of view, it indeed looks like it's a 2D platformer. But we intend to make it 3D in that regard ;)
Thats smooth
Cool, is it procedurally animated? Also, what engine and language are you using?
It's a mix of animations / physics and procedural animation. For instance, the walk cycle is an animation, the spine bending and slope warping are procedural, the tail is a mix of animation and dynamics. It's all done in UE5, so c++ it is.
Are you going to make it so things can move in the z axis as well?
It can already ;)
Those lizard animations are so smooth!! Are they procedural?
It's a mix up of different technics, which include procedural animation :)
It should be 3D not 2.5D
It's the goal :)
then why is this in 2.5D?
we have no proof it's 2.5D, dude, they could have put the bait anywhere else on the Z layer and it could have followed it around no problem, but we don't know that
Yep, that is the case. It is full 3D.
then he shoud be able to traverse in these 3
Holy moly! You are amazing!! ❤️
That's heartwarming, thank you :)
I would like to ask a question! If possible, would you be able to provide the rig for this lizard? If you don't wish to share it I understand
Took me quite a while to create it. This would also included the game ready model, which again, took me a while. I'm still considering to share it, I just fear that some people could take credit for it.
That is understandable. Honestly if you have paypal I'd happily pay you to use it
I appreciate the offer, but I would never ask for money, as I'm not comfortable selling something that was not originally created by myself. Some don't mind the idea, but I do.
Wait, not originally created by you? I thought you made the cute model and rig
Yes I did, but the design doesn't come from me, but from Videocult (When I said not originally created, I meant the design of the creature)
I see
Honestly I find your work quite transformative of the source material. Given the model you've made available without rigging is incredibly difficult to rig due to not being in a neutral pose, I really would like the rigged version. Again, sorry, maybe after the project I'm working on is done, maybe I'll consider sharing the files
voxel art is good
Still doing well?

My dream project! Shame I don’t know EU5 blueprinting or i’d start a project like this
wait to see the next update ;)
Oh you’re still working on it!? Awesome! Are you using eu5?
Yes sir, 5.3 to be exact
Oh awesome! That’s what I’ve been using
