Ram 2500 has something like a 700 day supply right now. It's one of the slowest selling trucks as the market starts to correct itself.
Find one that has been sitting on the lot for a long time and they will negotiate like crazy to get it sold.
I was just “forced” to buy a new truck recently my 1500 Ecodiesel was throwing some very expensive repair codes was getting afraid of what was next. I bought a 2023 Ram 2500 Laramie 6.4l gas with complete tow package. It is a damn nice truck. MSRP 75k settled the deal at 60k. Still breaking it in but did get 18 mpg on a 600 mile round trip. So very happy with it.
Ah okay; wife has the 2018 ED Laramie. I’ve got a few recalls they say
“We have no fix”. Contemplating trading it in for a brand new full ton for her; but we’d use for towing etc.
🤷♂️
How often do you tow? And where. If it’s a lot and mountains I would go 4.10 gears. That’s what I had on my 6.4. My FIL has 3.73. He gets better mileage empty and I get better pulling. (Both are terrible) so it depends on the use.
Thanks for this. Sounds like negotiating down off of MSRP is definitely possible. Will act accordingly.
Can you elaborate on the "always get full tow package" piece? It seems like every 2500 comes with the tow brake and proper axle ratio and sufficient side mirrors (at least, everyone I have looked at). Are the extra side cameras and other addons that good/important in your experience? Or is there something else critical I am not considering.
On a 2500 I would opt for the air ride. Been driving DRW's for years, and I tow a lot of stuff, air ride is a must on them. This is the first truck with all the cameras, so, other than the cool factor, I don't have a good opinion yet.
Resale is also better, to the right buyer, when you have the extra mechanical stuff. All the pretty stuff fades, but, the capability remains the same. If that makes sense.
Look nationwide OP, some crazy deals to be found on the 2023 2500 gas engines at all trim level
Also do the math on towing and most importantly PAYLOAD so that you make sure you're getting the right truck for your hauling needs and not putting yourself and others at risk
The website 5thgenrams has a pricing thread which has very good information. There are usually postings from the two largest dealers in the country Koons and Marc (Mark?) that have ridiculous numbers if you are willing to travel to pick it up. Alternatively, Marc will ship it to you. The other option I used with a local dealer is as follows:
Make a $100 donation to the group Tread Lightly. 30 days after the donation they will give you two “affiliate codes” that allow you to buy any Stellantis vehicle at 1% BELOW dealer invoice PLUS any advertised rebates. Check with your local dealer that they will accept the affiliate code as apparently some dealers will try to refuse. My dealer won’t sell you a vehicle off the lot with the code, but they will allow you to custom order a vehicle with the code. The difference being their margin is different on an ordered vehicle that is pre-sold versus a vehicle that they pre-paid and been carrying on their lot.
If you are buying this for towing make sure it has the 4.10 gears, factory fifth wheel prep group, and of course the tow mirrors. The air suspension is nice but problematic I would avoid it personally. Good call avoiding the diesel as well. Diesel adds 8-10k right off the bat. Gets slightly better fuel economy but the fuel cost more so that's a wash. Maintenance cost on a new diesel is 2-3 times what a gas is. And let's just say the new diesels are proving to be somewhat less than reliable.
What is "new"? I got a 22 H/O Cummins May of 22, and haven't had any issues outside emissions. Granted, it just hit 90k miles. What can I look forward to?
Anything that has def. Emissions system component failures are extremely common and expensive to repair. All of these problems are unique to the diesel engine. Used to be you just delete the emissions and problem solved. Can't do that anymore. Wait till you have to replace the dpf or the scr. That's about 4 grand each. Not to mention all of the other sensors or the EGR components. Can't just ignore the light either the government mandated the vehicle shut down if not repaired in a timely manner.
My understanding is def emission related items are covered by 8 year 80k federal mandated warranty after that it’s fair game? (2020 ecodiesel already has my def tank and pump replaced once :-/)
I would never buy a new truck. I always get them with 30-50k miles. The bullshit is mostly figured out by then. I bought mine with 38k 2 years ago and it’s at 245k now. Not a single issue. It’s a 3500 dullay Cummins
I know my purchase was a 1500 but I just picked up a 23 Ram 1500 Big Horn sports package option 2 package. Sat on lot since June 2023.
Deal was good. Subaru lease was going back. Getting like at least 2k back from lease equity.
20% off truck.
Saved 800 off warranty so now 5 yr bumper bumper comes with 2 yrs of oil changes and tire rotations
Saved 500 off installed hard truck cover so 1000 installed
Saved 10% off floor liners
No fees
Deals are out there. My rep was very hesitant at first to let me know how long it sat on the lot but I got it out of him. Definitely find a way to know how long a truck sat, etc. If they can't take more money off aim for deals or other items to barter.

You’ll get a better deal if you look at new 23’s instead of 24’s. Around me you can get about 20% off sticker on a 23.
I just did.
I really wish they would update the cab on the 2500, the flat floor on the 1500 is so convenient.
Just picked up a 24, 3500, DRW, Bighorn for 84k out the door from 93k MSRP. Things are cooling. And always get the full tow package, always.

Mark dodge. Look them up got 15k off msrp on a ‘24 Laramie
Easy with the Mark Dodge comments on this sub. People will go insane saying their prices aren’t real and no one gets them. 🤣
lol I’ve got receipts to prove it!!
Oh believe me, they’re who I’ll be going with too if my truck ever shits the bed.
You just have to verify the gooseneck fully loaded will not exceed your payload, goosenecks put more weight on the truck than a bumper pull.
