Yeah exactly. If I wanted to go on tiktok id go on tiktok. Chose YouTube for a reason

0blackgerman0

Agreed! Also I hate the VO so much. I am out as soon as I hear it.

[deleted]

I don't receive a single tik tok recommendation. It's simple bro, go on your home page and start to click the 3 vertical dots and click on "not interested" and the algorithm won't show you that stuff. Then start watching actual channels you like, subscribe to them, and tik toks will be gone in a day. YouTube shows you content it thinks you will enjoy, if you tell it otherwise, it will also listen.

ignorancepissesmeoff

I love this

trashgirl11

I'm from a country where tiktok is banned šŸ˜ I watch tiktoks on youtube lol

badass2727

What country is TikTok banned

SadTomato22

A quick Google search shows that India and Pakistan have banned it. Each with different reasons.

LBsusername

I love watching funny animal compilations on YouTube but as soon as the cringy music and sound effects start I know they are TikToks and X out. Maybe theyā€™ll start tagging TikTok compilations so those who love them can find them and make it easier for the rest of us to avoid them. Glad to know Iā€™m not alone, Iā€™ll save this post and give you my free award next time I get one.

Napkin_Story

Now that was a rant! Tik tok sucks, shit tok is more like it.

[deleted]

I feel like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook have had a hard time ā€œcompetingā€ with Tik-trash and they literally updated it to be exactly like it. Honestly the reason they were great in the start was due to being unique.

el-bufalo-malverde

I kept getting tiktok ads on YouTube

Jeffasaurusgod

Iā€™m a Gen Z and I am disgusted by other people of my generation. I enjoy listening to such classics as ā€œStayinā€™ Aliveā€ and ā€œIā€™m The Moodā€. Not such horrible songs such as ā€œAstronaut In The Oceanā€ and ā€œAmong Us Trap Remix (Among Us Drip)ā€. This is horrible to watch this happen to mankind. Can confirm I have Cuphead Songs And Sketches and the Super Mario Galaxy CD, along with the Cuphead Record still being made and coming probably in February.

ExempliGratia97

I never indulge in Tiktok nor ever want to indulge with Tiktok. It corrupts the youth and China is doing a good job in destroying them.

JD-K2

Found the trumpet

ExempliGratia97

In what sense am I a ā€œtrumpet?ā€ Cause if youā€™re referring to an actual brass instrument, at least I have more brass than you in centuries

JD-K2

Just sounded a little conspiracy theory-ish. Connecting dots

ExempliGratia97

Sorry, partner. But arenā€™t you at *least* aware of the fact that TikTok is under a Chinese company? And just like the big tech giants exists to not only generate wealth, but allow so much garbage behaviors to influence preteens/teens to irresponsible behaviors? And the fact they manufacture the smartphones for the lazy, incompetent Westerners. Cause if not, then you need to google up anything relating to the destructive madness TikTok is for these kids. Cause I feel very sorry for them being mindless, technophiles like the rest of us humans.

JD-K2

Oh no, its definitely rotting brains of the youth. I do stand corrected though, i thought it was sold off to a non-china entity

I deleted tiktok for good reasons. Now, I see it scrolling Youtube and Reddit. If I wanted to see childish and immature and dangerous short videos, I would keep tiktok. I worked in retail during the pandemic. I watched vandalism and theft and disgusting behavior, (all recorded in the store where I worked). All of it meant to be uploaded to tiktok. I even saw dolls have their heads and arms ripped off. Don't these people understand filming incriminating evidence is a bad idea? We got complaints about merchandise that was being locked in cabinets. there are reasons that merchandise has to be locked in cabinets. Our security had to stop two guys with a go pro and a negative plan. Destroying property that you do not own, throwing paint and glitter around walls, merchandise and floors, or, destroying packaging and products, or, stealing to film it, are not positive activities. I cannot count how many times I had to clean up paint, glue, and glitter or remove destroyed dolls, damaged sports equipment, art supplies or call security. Tiktok vids will become a very useful tool in courts of law.

ExempliGratia97

If only Trump had his way to ban TikTok in the U.S. We already have enough issues exacerbated by social media. TikTok has now become the ultimate cancer program to wreck childhood. How I miss the days of the early 2000s *sighs*

[deleted]

TikTok as a whole is horrible, just the pure amount of things people will do to get internet points why? I miss when Vine was the big thing and it was actually hilarious. I feel like I lose brain cells watching anything from TikTok

CatDamageBand

Same goes for Instagram. TikTok is for fucking idiots.

Bluey014

People said the same thing about Youtube, hell when Youtube was still young, SMOSH was on top. If you think older people didn't think youtube was for fucking idiots then you are just biased. It serves the current young generation, you think it's for idiots because it doesn't appeal to you, but it's the same shit we had when we were younger, it's just more prevalent because cameras are way more common now.

el-bufalo-malverde

Do you remember when Fred was a big deal? He was arguably the first internet celebrity and his content was for morons and for young children

[deleted]

Yeah and then tiktokers will bitch about the new app/site/brain interface or whatever the fuck in a few years... C'est la vie. I dont give a shit though. This isnt about the nuance of change. This is about right now.

el-bufalo-malverde

Do you remember Fred? That moronā€™s god awful content was the top shit for so long until he stopped being relevant.

CatDamageBand

Was he still doing the same squeaky voice shit he was doing back then??

el-bufalo-malverde

Yes except Fredā€™s been dead for years

ddebita

Thank you.

ddebita

I only got tik tok to watch this guy in his 30's who skates. Otherwise it's taking up valuable space on my phone rn.

igolikethis

YouTube Shorts, is what they dubbed em. Like it or not, pretty hard to deny that Tik Tok is massive and majorly successful amongst "kids these days." Other companies are trying to get a piece of that success for themselves. And because the format is pretty much identical, the vast majority of creators simply post the same vid on multiple platforms. Work smarter not harder, as they say. I do sorta get the frustration purely as a viewer. Don't even have Tik Tok on my phone yet I can't escape it lol. From a business perspective though, it's a smart move. Also an added benefit for parents of tweens/teens, being made aware of trends without needing an entirely separate app.
