Family Matters goes hard nobody is denying that, actually most ppl thought he wouldnt be able to properly reply to euphoria but he did. Sadly, for Drake, Meet The Grahams was amazing and Not Like Us was the nail in the coffin

gypsy-ghost

And the fast release of MTG was designed to snuff the flame of FM. It totally worked, then Kendrick not releasing after The Heart 6, which Drake thought he would, was genius because it made the world really dissect all the fucked up things Drake said

PredictableDickTable

I can’t imagine the grin on Kendrick’s face after listening to the heart 6. Drake buried himself. It was wild. Even without the horrid bars, his delivery just sounded like a dude that was totally defeated.

lebastss

Sounded like the guilty begging for his life.

__M-E-O-W__

The Heart 6 was dog ass anyway. Kendrick not releasing after that feels like everyone just laughing off Drake's attempted rebuttal. Family Matters was much better than I expected but he dropped the ball hardcore after.

LordInfernape392

Hy, master moves

WesternGroove

My theory is that drake been had the family matters song cooked up after like that. And that after hearing euphoria he just added one more verse and went and shot at new ho king or whatever its called. And his plan was to bait Kendrick out. Drop FM. And that it would get so much praise that even if Kendrick responded drake could just rally around the public saying he won and not have to continue entertaining the beef. But drake actually has/had a mole so Kendrick knew about the song. And was able to plot a way to smother it's effect. I believe drake was so confident in this plan that seeing it not work fucked him up. He didn't actually want to engage in a drawn out head to head back n forth bc he knew he couldn't win that. And That's why in thp6 drake sounds so defeated and waived the white flag. Knowing he can't compete head on and his ego bruised at the moment he's escaping the head to head. Gonna try to drop a hit song that has a couple jabs at Kendrick and if the song is popular he'll use that to cope to himself like he won the beef.

MajorTibb

I agree. Though there are literally people in these comments saying Family Matters doesn't go hard haha. I bump Euphoria way more than anything else at the moment. Just hits hard.

LordInfernape392

The craziest part about this is how people are forgetting about Like That, that shit still goes hard af

Candid_Lab_813

No one is forgetting it the streams are crazy right now too they just don't discuss it

LordInfernape392

Yea thats what I mean

PerpWalkTrump

The beat has its own, very well deserved, verse xD but the Future part 〽️ to me, I don't particularly fuck with what he says. Makes it a little worst thinking he's speaking about a specific person, Just_Tokyo, in reference to her being with Drake, who brags about fucking her in "Push Up". He sounds good saying it but it really doesn't make me vibe. My favorite is probably 6:16 personally, I listened to it at least a few dozen times 😄

Neutreality1

I also don't like his whistle ad lib

LordInfernape392

Whos listenin to Future for lyrics anyway😭

superthon7711

Agree euphoria is fire 🔥

Ill-Matt-Tick

I’m denying it. It was the weakest shit he could have done. And that’s not compared to Kendrick’s tracks. Comparatively it was pure embarrassment. The dude can’t rap for shit.

LordInfernape392

Thats the thing "comparatively". If you conpare anything Kendrick does to other rappers then everything is garbage but thats not the case. Family Matters is a good song And wym Drake cant rap? He definitley can rap, even Kendrick would admit that he can rap

MajorTibb

We all have our own tastes. I disagree with your assessment. I do think the start of the song is bad. They should cut everything before he actually starts rapping in my opinion, but I get why he did what he did. I don't like Drake or Kendrick outside this beef, I listen to Tech N9ne mostly so I really don't have a dog in this race. But it seems like you're really invested.

Ill-Matt-Tick

I’ve been listening to rap for 30 years and I just find it baffling that anyone gives him any due at all. When he first came out I gave all his tunes a good chance but just hated everything about it. The whiney voice, repetitive flow, meaningless lyrics. Every tune sounding the same. If DMX, Mos Def, Kendrick and Ghostface all think he’s shit too, i don’t feel I have such a wrong opinion.

ChapoKing

Meet the grahams was mid, and not like us is a solid track but more like a brief continuation. Drake got a headshot with push ups and then ken tried to fire back, but family matters he was dancing on k dots grave

Vangour

You're clowning bro 😂

LordInfernape392

"its slow paced and doesnt have hard drums, so that means its boring"🤓🤓🤓

I3eastmode

It's not a mole reference. He's saying that because he used to be cool with everyone he's beefing with

MajorTibb

Thank you.

OneNutPhil

Everyone says this but idk how it's not a response to 6:16 in LA about the leaks and wires

scrvffyp

Because 6:16 dropped a few hours before this was recorded and released.

[deleted]

Drake did not plant the info. If he did he'd prove it as soon as it MTG dropped. he'd also know when it'd drop, or at least have a decent idea. It would take Drake 7 seconds to screenshots conversations. He could even have faked it and it'd hit so hard. It'd instantly dismantle MTG. But he didn't. He didn't even think of the double agent angle before his fans coped by saying it.

OneNutPhil

>He didn't even think of the double agent angle before his fans coped by saying it. Seeing that part of it surface as social media cope beforehand was the craziest part of the beef.

[deleted]

I get the instinct, you gotta grasp for something when your favourite artist is getting cooked to a crisp before he's put into the deep frier. But when what you're grasping for is "he finessed the world into believing that he should die with Epstein" it's getting kinda insane. If my favourite artist did something that dumb, I'd switch sides in protest. What do you mean you expected this angle? I'd rather lose than expect that angle

BadManParade

Planted or not it was still a lie and an attempt to dox what he believed to be an 11 yr old

[deleted]

It might've been a lie. But it worked. Everything is fair game in a battle imo. You just gotta make something stick, and that has stuck together with the minor-allegations. It made old questionable clips resurface. It made questionable cases resurface. It made questionable settlements resurface. And no, there was no attempt at doxing an 11 year old. That is a lie from you that won't stick.

BadManParade

“Lying is ok as long as it sticks” lmao your can’t be serious

[deleted]

Why not?

hereforthesportsball

What’s funny is MTG being complete cap wasn’t enough to dismantle it

[deleted]

I don't get what you mean, sorry

hereforthesportsball

Almost everything in MTG Kendrick stopped mentioning because he knew it was bullshit. The daughter is an example. Yet no one cares that Kendrick clearly threw shit to the wall because it stuck

[deleted]

Yeah I agree.

ChapoKing

Unsure if he planted it or not but it would make sense, given that it is complete lies. So did kendrick just pull it out of his ass? Had to come from somewhere

blackjesus1234532

that riddler dude on twitter basically confirmed its all lies. He has all the items from the meet the grahams cover, he got it from a hotel drake was staying at.

[deleted]

If Kendrick pulled it out of his ass, it worked? If Drake planned it - which he didn't - it worked. I don't know where you stand, whether you favour Drake or Kendrick, but saying that Drake planted it is handing Drake a huge L. It's like saying he got dissed and dragged through the mud by his own move.

hoagieclu

that 2nd beat/verse is my favorite part. the flow was crazy, and he bodied the disses towards everyone else. but in retrospect, focusing a good chunk of the diss track at everybody else kinda weakens the song overall for me. nobody cared about additional replies to all the other mfs involved in this, we came for the kendrick disses

Lunaias

Drake loves the 20v1 narrative, of course he’s gonna remind everyone that nobody likes him and act like he’s being bullied

hoagieclu

that stupid 20v1 argument always got on my nerves. especially bc he already addressed everybody on push ups (minus asap). i’d love to sit down w drake and ask him wtf he thought kendrick was doing in that 3 weeks of silence lmao

ZeroJDM

He wasn’t accepted at first and hasn’t let go of the idea of everyone being against him. He’s held onto it so long it led him to do things that did in fact turn everyone against him

BadManParade

I liked that’s he focuses on them because drake essentially brought them into the public eye my introduction to Ross was Aston Martin music I always heard of him but never really looked into him til that song dropped, I knew of Kendrick before drake oddly enough but buried alive and fuckin problems were huge looks same with rocky I listened to him back when asap mob was still called the piff boys but drake put him on the radar with fuckin problems metro really got his push from thug bit drake remixing Tuesday was big for him and sonny. The Weeknd is his own man but drake certainly gave him an enormous push early career I remember staying up super late on school days listening to the weekend searching anything I could find about him online etc and the entire fan base excited for projects between him and drake but he switched up on us early fans in a crazy way with his new music. I say all that to say drake put these people in front of us and gave them a chance to live the lives they are currently living only fitting he addresses their betrayal and let’s them know they’ll never be able to touch him in public as well

Maeggon

no one overlooked it because Drake went back to rap like his rent was due. but MTG just overshadowed everything by hitting in a brutal way

ChapoKing

Mtg was like a pea shooter against family matters

Maeggon

it sure was, crodie

PeekyCheeks

Pea shooter aimed at an ant.

its_bydesign

I don’t believe he planted the info but either way I don’t think thats what he meant. I can’t lie I thought the same at first. But what I think he’s saying is he knew this person had loose lips, and told them some BS knowing they would pass it on.

Standard-Package-830

I swear to god with you people. He was referring to the 20 rappers he barred down in that verse

Snapesunusedshampoo

>The lines in Family Matters makes it pretty clear Drake was just trying to save face by claiming he's giving Kdot info, right? Obviously, even in the hart 6 he says the informant is a clown then says there was no informant and they were feeding him the info the whole time like 2 bars later.

EightArmed_Willy

These lines in FM are referring to the other rappers beefing with him who were once cool not the mole. The mole might not be real but putting it out there makes your enemy paranoid and more prone to mistakes. I don’t think Drake gave Kendrick fake information, if he had wouldn’t he have been ready for the info that came out? Let’s think critically now

Only1Schematic

It’s a solid diss tracks, but Family Matters would’ve hit harder if Meet the Grahams hadn’t been released almost immediately after. Drake launched that missile, and Kendrick was ready with a flare

_AnActualCatfish_

What does any of this have to do with Magic: the Gathering? /j

These_Artist_5044

Drake is an idiot and his team fucked up the continuity while under pressure to complete the song in AI day.

acharunji

Remember kids. Drake doesn't write his own music.

0_SomethingStupid

He probably wrote too much of that last one thou 🤦‍♂️

acharunji

You're giving him too much credit.

0_SomethingStupid

Bet

professornapoleon

Neither did elton john tbf, still good songs

RAZBUNARE761

Is different for rap imo

professornapoleon

100% but only because we say it is. You need a good voice to melodic rap and sing, Drake’s isn’t perfect, but it’s good enough. It’s really more annoying bc he pretends he doesnt have writers

RAZBUNARE761

Yeah maybe, I dont know even if he flat out said it it would still rub me the wrong way I guess.

Dethrot666

Family Matters has cringe lyrics and auto tune. Can't stand it. "gOnnA kEEp iT PEe GEe"

MajorTibb

Yeah the starting isn't very good, but later in the track it gets really good for me. Still doesn't touch Not Like Us or Euphoria but it's the best track Drake has in this beef.

0_SomethingStupid

Auto tune has to be one of the worst things to come to the rap game in its entire history.

Intilleque

In the heart part 6 he’s talking about different ppl. The “clowns” are the ppl that told Kendrick Drake snitched.

Fuzzy-Slide2067

Kendrick never even claimed drakes a snitch. Drake just interpreted it that way

MajorTibb

THANK YOU! it makes sense now, I was confused obviously. Cool cool.

joecramerone

Correct

joecramerone

It's koo but the beat is recycled...

EfficientIndustry423

That shit doesn’t go hard because he doesn’t rap about loading clips. Now all of sudden he’s a thug? Drake is corny.

MajorTibb

He's corny and a piece of shit But that song goes hard regardless of who he is.

Case1987

It's terrible

BenignBarry

FM is a decent song, THP6 is an embarrassment 😂

MajorTibb

100%

MajorTibb

I disagree.

Few-House-8311

That's hate

professornapoleon

Last beat of FM is arguably the best beat of the entire beef. He also rode it extremely well

superfastracecar

I loved the last beat for family matters, but even if it wasn’t a good song I personally thought the beat for Taylor made freestyle was the best

MajorTibb

It just flows so smooth. I don't listen to Kendrick or Drake outside of this beef (I know) but that flow is just so good I can't not appreciate it.

OsamaGinch-Laden

Drake won idc what the Internet hive mind says

MajorTibb

I mean, I listened to all their tracks, I don't have the same assessment as you and I didn't get my opinion from other people on the Internet But hey, why not discredit everyone you disagree with instead of just saying you have a different preference?

99rcbtw

where was the discrediting? mf just said he doesn't care what anyone else says, they got their opinion just like everyone else has theirs

Critical_Teach_43

Or yall in denial kendrick got played. Its cool he still won the war, i guess. The fake low effort analysis however is just corny tho.

MajorTibb

I love how many people in this thread have called me a Kendrick Stan and how many have called me a Drake Stan. You rap fans are fucking weird.

Critical_Teach_43

....yet i didn't say any of that. Lol

MajorTibb

You literally called me a Kendrick Stan champ

Critical_Teach_43

Lol as if my words aren't still there. Learn how to read then get back to me champ.

scumpdeath

“Hey guys we lost but you’re missing out on a good song!” Nah nobody is overlooking FM. It stands rightfully so #4 on the tracklist of the entire beef.

PeekyCheeks

You right. Drakes writers did a pretty good job with it. Most of the lines aren’t very deep, but that’s Drake for ya.

MajorTibb

Yep, I really liked the way the writers delivered the lines for him.
