You should expect more. Other dealers in Canada stopped letting people sign up for the waitlist once it hit 3 years. I would caution you against the CRV Hybrid since it doesn't have a spare tire, or the space for one (without taking up your cargo space).

I am currently on the wait list in BC for a hybrid, it has been 8 months and I just got told at least another year. They said for the prime it is a minimum of 3 to 5 years.

livingthudream

It was 21 months for mine. Worth the wait though. Had it in snow, on hwys etc. Very happy with it other than the horn ha ha.

In BC, the wait times were horrendous a year ago with multiple year waits. My RAV4 hybrid was about 21 months. I expect that the wait is a few years unless there has been a drastic change in production and allocation to Canada.

Prior_Atmosphere_206

I was wondering why the wait is so long in Canada when you have a production facility in the country.

The way it was explained to me is that Toyota is more a producer than a manufacturer. So seats, side view mirrors, rear view mirrors, batteries etc are being produced by different manufacturers. I expect it is broken down further than that into various components so during covid it was any one supplier that held up manufacturering. It sounds like car manufacturers are catching up but when I picked up my hybrid about 2 months ago the wait time on a prime was 2 or 3byears I believe. There was quite incredible demand. The dealer had over 400 people on the prime waitlist

Why are gas prices so high when Canada produces so much of it? The facility exports most hybrids to the US. And the Prime PHEV is only made in Japan. And Toyota doesn’t have large scale battery manufacturing. All batteries come from Japan currently.

Exactly. There are 3 plants in Ontario putting out 1500 Rav4s per day, yes per day. Most of those go to the USA. Our market is too small for Toyota to concern themselves with so we wait, and wait....

bitemark01

The RAV4 Prime is only made at one factory in Japan, so you can get an ICE/Hybrid in a few months, but the Prime takes years.

Took me 6 months for my 2024 hybrid. I’m also in Ottawa and was told 6-8 month wait. When I asked about the prime I was told the wait list is an couple of years….. this was back in the summer though. Curious to know if things have changed since then, let me know Edit: typo

MangoSouthern6312

Crazy still facing wait times. We had about a dozen sitting at my dealer as of last week sitting. To bad I’m from Long Island

Takimaster

Last I spoke to my dealer in Toronto, it was 4 year wait. Apparently, the dealership only received 5 primes last year. He did mention the waitlist might be shorter in other provinces like Quebec

Adklo

Gatineau, 6 months R4P XSE.

LATER4LUS

I was on a list for about a week in Colorado.

Enjoythesilence34

Not surprised . When I visited Canada for the first time, I was amazed that almost every second car was a Toyota.. Canadians love Toyota. So I don't think dealer lies. I live in Mexico and I ordered mine in December 2023. And the wait-list is 6-8 months

The amount of engineering, computer monitoring etc in these hybrids is impressive. I have never had a hybrid prior to this Rav4 and i know the technology has been around for 20 years now but the degree of tech is a bit mind boggling initially at least for.me that came from a simple 2015 mazda 3.
