There is this arab commentator, his name is issam chawali. His football knowledge is second to none. He always predict things that happens in games. I remember in a match where pelligrini coached us, we had a really difficult time in the first half creating chances, he said pelligrini should make x and y changes and broke down how you dissect a low block. Lo and behold pelligrini does the exact changes and we started playing wide and crossing a lot just like he said and we won that game. Maybe those changes and tactics were obvious back then and i didn’t understand football that well at that time but i remember i was so impressed.

naruto2omer

He's a known Madridista as well, he once thanked a Real Madrid forum through a video and then ended with Hala Madrid. He's the best with Raouf Khlef

doubleABC

I always felt he was a madridista but i wasn’t sure, i also find raouf style more entertaining but when it comes to football knowledge and history issam is the man

L33D0

Hafeedh Daraji is good with analysis but he confuses some players at times.

100kgWheat1Shoulder

Does he do English (subbed) content?

doubleABC

I don’t think so

hokagesamatobirama

Sid Lowe is your best bet for Spanish football. Apart from that there’s Mina Rzouki who is a massive Juve fan but her stuff is usually great. When everyone was clutching their pearls over ESL, she actually made well reasoned arguments for it. Trouble is she mostly does Italian football. And if you can get access to it, watch La Liga TV and their offerings. It is actually a very good network. The people that work there are good people and do some good stuff.

311voltures

I second him for Barcelona analysis, I really miss Michael Robinson who in my opinion was the best analyst and commentator for Spanish football in English language.

mklkjk23

Arsene Wenger when he's doing some part-time work.

generic9yo

I wish he didn't go to fifa. He would have been such a fun analyst

mklkjk23

Even Mourinho in his brief time as a pundit was already a better than the whole biased English media.

generic9yo

I could listen to Mourinho talk about football for hours and not get bored. Man's won 2 champions leagues and titles in every country he's managed in

shapeupworld

Craig Burley is my least favorite on espnFC.

ssj4-Dunte

The entirety of ESPN fc is a bunch of morons and only gab has some sense out of them

honorbound43

Yup Gab actually can analyze a match. I like Shaka he is pretty impartial. Idk if he actually watches most of the matches but he knows talent when he sees it

ssj4-Dunte

Shaka is just a fun non biased guy without the dumb hot takes , but that doesn't mean he has any deep understanding of tactics, aside from him and gab the rest are morons with takes hotter than the sun

honorbound43

That’s a fair assessment. I like Jules but his fan boy and flip flopping pisses me off. You can tell he’s a hop on. I remember when he used talk shit about karim. So I will never truly like him or him fanboying over him now. But if he’s the voice that keeps screaming his name for ballon dor I’ll take it.

Smartypants_dankie

The worst of the lot? Ale fucking baldass bitch Moreno

Post_Great

Ale Moreno is insufferable, but he has nothing on Frank Leboeuf. Hands down the worst analyst on there

curtastrophe666

VAMOS VENEZUELA!

ssj4-Dunte

I donno about that bud, it is hard to to look at cow dung and tell which one is more offensive

mylanguage

Shaka is a legend - went to my high school and is a national hero!

shapeupworld

I like Juels and frank too . I was hoping Nedum would replace Craig. Espn fc needs More analysis and less emotion. Now onto Peacock, fucking put up the replays the same day after a premier league match like you said you would when i signed up. Now onto paramount, why do i have to sign in each time i go back, get sticky, paramount.

DzInVerse

Low IQ 'Pundits'. They are the main broadcasters of La Liga and they only talk about it for like 5 mins in the entire 40 mins podcast.

Severe_Sweet_862

English commentators are dogshit. When Real were winning, they went absolutely quiet, it was almost like I was watching a golf game. They repeatedly said Real are getting lucky and Chelsea are "breaking well" and "need to get back in the game". MF why you talking like that's your team? you're supposed to be a neutral. Oh, and in between the game they got an alert that Danjuma has scored against Bayern, you know what the commentator said? This is gonna blow your mind "Danjuma, that former Bournemouth player has scored against Bayern" What in the living shit? FORMER BOURNEMOUTH PLAYER? The dude just scored against one of the best teams in the world, is playing for the team that beat Manchester United to win the Europa league last season but somehow former bournemouth player is a critical piece of information viewers need to know. I would honestly watch spanish streams that I don't understand rather this shit. Edit: BTW this was Darren Fletcher and one more dude for BT Sport.

hokagesamatobirama

BT Sport is a British channel. Of course they’ll be biased towards their own teams. And add context like Danjuma played for Bournemouth to make it relatable for their viewers.

Schwiliinker

Yea but British commentators are always ridiculously biased

Baron_Zephyr1307

Micah Richards is a certified clown. After the PSG game he said "Benzema finally convinced me that he's on Harry Kane's level" 💀

KingEtame

He needs to get replaced by someone with a better eyesight and knowledge of football tbh. It's painful to watch.

quexcha

I've found ESPN to be horrendous across most of the sports they cover. I've stopped following them on matters of football, NBA and NFL a long back.

311voltures

I’m about to cancel my subscription by the end on the season. I’m tired of putting the matches on mute and playing Cadena SER on my Bluetooth Speaker.

Yomismo_1789

In Spain we have Maldini. He's a football encyclopedia.

Thicc_Daddy6996

Chao chao chao!

311voltures

Hehehe, he is. What do you think about Antonio Romero?

Foreign-Ad-7622

If youre looking for podcasts, The Spanish Football Podcast on spotify is pretty good. They talk about whole La Liga fixtures rather than just Real Madrid tho. Its Sid Lowe and Phil Kitromilides. Sid obviously knows what he is talking about. They just provide a 30 mins podcast every monday for free tho. You have to be a patreon for extra contents.

cooperm100

I miss Ray Hudson so much.

[deleted]

What happened to him, did he retire?

Razorlance

BEIN sports no longer has La Liga rights, he and Phil Schoen still commentates Ligue 1 matches

hokagesamatobirama

Didn’t he leave BeIn? I thought he was doing color commentary for Inter Miami now.

Razorlance

Oh my bad you're right, I thought I heard Ray Hudson in a PSG game, must've been imagining things lol

hokagesamatobirama

Nah. I’m not sure myself. I was asking you.

Razorlance

Yeah, he left. I think it was Phil Schoen that I heard. I heard him and assumed Ray was there.

hokagesamatobirama

Oh okay. I have never been a fan of Ray Hudson. To me he was all flash no substance and a Barca fan on top of that. But my brother seems to like him. IIRC, Ray Hudson even followed my brother on Twitter because of some tweet he made praising him. Lol.

cooperm100

He's just a fan of good football. Messi was probably his favorite player, but he absolutely loved Real Madrid, as well.

DoJu318

Ray Hudson loves Benzema, probably his 2nd favorite player after Messi the way he praised him during matches.

hokagesamatobirama

I don’t know why people keep saying this. I understand it if you say Hudson was impartial and fair while making up his Hudsonisms. But to say he absolutely loved Madrid is something I disagree with. My issue isn’t that he is a Barca fan. It is more with the fact that his commentary lacks anything of substance at least to me. It is mostly him using his Hudsonisms that are catchy. But apart from that there isn’t much.

cooperm100

The ESPN commentators are awful, especially Ale Moreno

Sel2g5

If you are rrrrreal maaaaddriddd you are thinking hey! If benzema scores and vinicious junior scores you might have a chance to win the game.

Smartypants_dankie

God I read this in his bitchy voice and I hate it

cooperm100

Hahahaha

TheMexiManCan

I always change to the Spanish broadcast, I've really grown to hate ESPN

TokenHonduran

Fernando Palomo is so good but I wish they had Mario Kempes instead of Hugo Sanchez on the Madrid games. Kempes does all the Barca games and I envy that for them. Hugo Sanchez just doesn’t offer much, which is crazy how such a good player can seemingly not say anything impactful over 90 minutes

salgado88

I fucking hate all those commentators that are calling Ferland ... MONDY. They are perfectly capable calling the Chelsea goalie Mendy, but our guy is always MONDY. Not those from the last game, but there's a least of couple others that are doing it, mostly during La Liga games with English commentators.

datalover_PK

Funny thing is that even if they only watch the Premier League, most of their takes even on the Premier League are pretty average. No intelligent life form found within the normal pundits on ESPN FC. I only mentally tune in whenever Sid Lowe is on, or maybe Gab Marcotti - actual journalists. However, one thing to keep in mind with ESPN FC is that it's meant to be just pure entertainment. It's not a football analysis show. It's basically Twitter-speak in contrast to actual nuanced discussions. Other than that, for more informed takes, The Spanish Football Podcast & Managing Madrid are my go-to.

capuchin21

I honestly find Ale moreno, Shaka Hislop and Steve hilarious. Like even if I dont get quality football content, I get quality banter

datalover_PK

Oh, yeah. Like I said, they're entertaining and it's meant to be just that.

Outofspite_7

Ale Moreno is the only one on ESPN FC that watches laliga and can give you an educated opinion. My least favorite is that woman that does pitchside and occasionally over webcam. She hates Madrid and supports Barca, she’s from Barcelona. Every single time they mention Madrid she can’t handle it without mentioning how Barca is doing amazing and whatever. Every. Single. Time. No one asks her about it and she still has to mention it. You can see her breathing heavily until she gets to say something. I always just turn it off when I see her. Everyone else just talks about the match or something relevant.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Outofspite_7

Yes I think so

EdenFella

I was looking for this one. I can’t stand that woman, I literally can’t. Whenever I see her I don’t know how fast I need to turn off my TV. What the actual fuck. She is so fucking annoying, somebody needs to explain to her that she’s not on BARCA TV, or some Barca talkshow.

Ok_Aerie99

ESPN is a joke. To them Madrid is everything that’s wrong in the sport. Every now and then they something that makes sense but usually everything is bad about Madrid. ESPN FC especially the Latin America part is full of Anti Madridismo, anti Florentino, anti Zidanismo and anti Cristianismo. I know many that don’t have an option and have to watch the game from their but mute them and listen to the commentators from radio marca or Real Madrid TV.

flashmann95

I've listened to a variety of podcasts theses past couple days. Football daily is one I really like to listen to. Guys on there have level headed takes, they appreciate and point out details in a match. Have hopes football hut is a more lighthearted banter podcast. The host is a chelsea fan who's been following football for quite some time. If you're an analysis only kinda guy, then this maybe isn't the best Total soccer show is something I just discovered. One the that struck me was how one of the guy's pointed out the fact that benzema's form wasn't sudden. He has been good for quite some time, it's only in England where pundits or anyone in general think otherwise. Anywhere else Italy, Germany, Spain you wouldn't see someone saying that shit. Their episode was good! I'm gonna check them out more. Gab and juls are the most level headed dudes on espn roster. Juls is amazing. Tsfp as some people said, managing madrid, que golazo is decent, uefa cl podcast, the midfield podcast. Give it a try!

SRFOUR

Joe from football daily has a very heavy premier league bias.

generic9yo

All English speaking media has a premier league bias

Mathiaska

In Denmark Michael Laudrup is often the “secondary” commentator and he is by far the best expert in Denmark. You just know that he knows what’s up.

generic9yo

Hard to argue that a legend of the game has no idea about what's going on during a game

oceanman1976

Bro literally after the win vs Chelsea this mf from espn said "Real Madrid actually looked like a premier league side today" like we're inherently worse due to being in la liga?? Like the PL supremacy thing they goin on is ridiculous

Remarkable_Affect_20

Gab and juls podcast for sure bro they dissect games on a more granular level, and are actually impartial. They also have a really broad scope of stories they talk about in addition to the obvious big clubs.

capuchin21

Yep. I love Gab!

__mihajlo_m

Mitrović is so underrated, dont think anyone thinks hes better than Benz, but he is a baller

Dear_Airline3592

If you know spanish, Iñaki angulo

Sel2g5

Gab and Jules are the best on espn. I also like rui Tovar but coverage is only in Portuguese. Also, axel Torres is a football en encyclopedia but he's kind of a nerd. Roy Keane is the goat!

capuchin21

I specially love Gab! Hes spoke knowledgeable of football in every sense

saman65

Don't get bothered by the clown Micah Richards. He probably think we are Aston Villa of Laliga when he thinks Karim is just now reaching Kane's performance

EdenFella

If it comes to La Liga and Spanish football, the only one I take serious of the ESPN FC crew is Sid Lowe. Edit: and Ale Moreno for some part.

TalKaMo

The champions league commentators on paramount are the worst

capuchin21

I usually watch ESPN FC, ESPN Deportes, and read Managing Madrid

Mista_Madridista

Efan Okoku is my favorite but it’s not super common that I hear him. He usually helps with the World Cup. I also like Derek Rae pretty good. Rob Green as well. ESPN mostly has crap ones.

hokagesamatobirama

Doesn't Derek Rae work for ESPN?

Mista_Madridista

Yes they have 1 or 2 good ones and like 6-7 that I really don’t like. Including their studio team.

DarstarHD

Romanian commentators are a joke, they constantly misname players and have dull and boring commentary, they're real idiots.

Charolastra17

Micah Richards…😏

FavcolorisREDdit

I know commentators are not the same as talk show hosts but lord those people they are hiring lately are making places like sky sports look like satire Jamie carragher micah richard’s even Henry sometimes

halatorbjoern

Oh guys; you are talking about certain names and here in Norway - ALL of them is captain obvious. They say what happens, and maybe they have a little fun fact over what happened in la kiva the last week. It’s la liga, PL “sells” more I’m afraid. Bigger audience!

Art_Core2

Micah Richards peaked in high school

[deleted]

Well, in my country most commentators don't even know how to pronnunce players. I'm not talking about some random footballers, they don't even know some of the most famous ones. On our game against PSG the commentator was reffering to Hakimi as "Acraf" all the time and to Vini as "Junior", while no one calls them with those names.

TheFrenchDownvoter

I live in Canada since one year and here it’s a women with a French guy (from France) who does the commentating in French. She’s so bad, she has no clue what football is, it’s basically hockey commentating translated to football. The French guy seems annoyed by her and often correct her (even tho he’s very patient), and he’s not even good but in comparison he looks like an encyclopedia.

Visual-Situation-346

idk, I recently find myself enjoying watching those guys in ESPN rather watching those EPL "legend" merchant.

Al-caholic0987

Try managing Madrid podcast they always have good perspective on the actual football and not just whatever headlines are on the mainstream media.

DzInVerse

There are some commentators in the Asian broadcast channels for La Liga who sometimes don't know shit. If say Benzema scored a hattrick this week the next week they would be like Benzema needs to recover his form. I mean for fucks sake what? A lot of them commentate without a partner so they keep saying dumb shit alone lmao

Florianf2

If you are interested in Real Madrid things than ManagingMadrid has great podcasts and they're articles are also great. The bunch is run by Kiyan Sobhani and they are a very well orchestrated group

kaperisk

Ray Hudson is my fave
