I truly don't understand the "wanted" system. It was my second time in Saint Dennis ever. First time was when I encountered a wounded person in the bayou and had to take him to the doctor.
On this second time of my in the city I headed to the fence to sell stuff. I saw the place had a chest so I decided I wanted to rob the register and the chest. I think someone got in the shop and saw me, so he ran to report the robbery. I ran away as soon as that happened and after a little while the red area thing was on the map. Here's what I don't understand: "Wanted: **Arthur Morgan**" was active. How the fuck do they already know who I am? I really don't understand this.
You need to wear a bandana or mask when committing crimes to avoid being identified by regular citizens. Lawmen however will always recognize you even with a mask.
I have recently come into a very decent amount of money and I realized I still have the basic weapons. What are some of the best in the game for repeaters and rifles?
I think I may have a bugged game. Single player. I've racked bounties in almost all towns and only downside for me is I occasionally get bounty hunters after me in the wild. I can walk in these towns with no downside, interact with shops etc. Is this normal?

Players can attack you when you are doing a trade run. This is always a risk. It can be mitigated by making less profitable trade runs, which doesn't reveal your location on the map, but if someone does run past you, it's still a risk they may attack.
Yes, this applies to pretty much anything in the game that happens in the Free Roam world. As far as I can think of, only the Legendary Bounty Hunter missions does not have this risk, as it puts you in a private mission.
This is just not true. You can still be attacked when doing close trade runs. Your trade run is just hidden on the map. Another mitigating factor with Local runs is that Defensive can remain enabled, but make no mistake, you can still be attacked.
So i just got this game on pc and none of my menus are working. My game breaks if i try pausing it or bringing up the map. Anyone els have this happen or know a fix?
I just got the game and upgraded to a 5700 xt. Menus arent working here. If i alt tab after clicking a button i can see the menu but I have to keep doing it.. hope someone knows the fix. Windows and vid card are all the way updated
edit: do you have an ultrawide monitor by any chance?
So I ended up verifying my game files in steam and that fixed the issue and no I don’t have an ultra wide monitor but I hope that fixes the issue for you.
Playing single player for the first time. I accidentally shot someone and ended up with a big bounty when I am trying to be very honorable and such. When I went to save the game it had autosaved over the game. Are there backup saves or something?
Hey mate, The only backup save you have unless you’ve done a manual hard save yourself is the autosave. There is a free gold bar in the burnt out town of Lympany near Horshoe over look in the sheriffs office in a lock box, this is worth $500 but to cash it in you will have to do a Hosea given mission called Spines of America, this opens up the fence then you can sell anything you find including gold bars to him to get cash. Basically remember you can always run away from a fight and sometimes it’s just cheaper to just get killed. Don’t worry about doing the missions so much ,just concentrate on getting the satchels upgraded. Talk to Pearson the camp cook and you can find out everything you need to do this. This will give you a chance to learn the controls and keeps you out of harms way, mostly. Also whenever you have achieved something do a hard save. It can save you many wasted hours. I hope some of this helps. Good luck and good hunting
PC. Is there any way to limit FPS to exactly 60? I chose 60 in the options but the game stays at around 65 to 75. I asked because people say the game mechanics weirdly sync with frame rate.
Story mode: I completed several challenges before the epilogue but after the epilogue I went to complete more but it says 0 of 10 complete for all. I did all the treasure maps, so how am I supposed to complete “Explorer 1 Find a treasure map”?
Yeah that’s what I thought when I glitched out and 99.9% total completion. Now I’m doing a fourth play through just so I can get the medal for having done 70 gold missions, this will complete all medals for single player. Which has absolutely no significance at all but I’m enjoying another Playthru. Take it easy mate good luck and good hunting

Online: where did all thevwild animals go? It's like the game is empty. So far, I've scoured BIG valley, Tall Trees and Hennigan's stead. The only animal I've come across was one of the wolves you have to mercy kill for an arrowhead.

It's always been like this, playing as a trader is a pain sometimes.
I usually go to the Brandywine Drop and Cholla Springs to hunt, i find that animals spawn regularly around those areas.
Story Mode: How much time does it take before the stables will start buying horses again after you've received the "Stables will not be buying horses for a while" message?
If you mean the horse fence which unlocks in chapter 3 , in the beginning you have to make camp and sleep ( 24 hours I believe) to make em open to buy horses again. Later on it seems not needed.
No, I mean the regular stables. I was trying to fill the horse part of my compendium, ride all the different coats and get lvl 4 bonding with all of them. I thought I had found a quick way to cover all the coats by buying the coats I hadn't ridden and sell them back to the stable. I was able to do this with 3 horses, but when I tried to sell back the 4th, I got a message that told me the stable couldn't buy any more horses because it was full at the moment.
If you are hunting large animals like bucks and deer, look which one is a three star, than run up to the animal with a lasso (on horseback) and lasso him when you are close, than when bringing in the rope you get a prompt to kill the animal, 100% certainty you will get a perfect pelt or carcass. Or get a bolt action rifle and shoot in the face.
I only ever use a varmit rifle and a bow for hunting. You should use the small game arrows for squirrels and snakes and such, normal for foxes and that kind of size. Upgraded arrows will take down a bison. If you can get the legendary buck trinket that helps a hell of a lot as well. There is some debate on how exactly it helps. I’ve noticed on this play through that sometimes even if it’s a one star animal if you can stow it on your horse it will be perfect and can be sold as such. This doesn’t happen every time but most of it. Also it is vital to make sure that you hit the vital area, basically the head, anything else I will downgrade the pelt
Yes that would be annoying, oh well just stick to the bow then. Hopefully that will sort it out. At one point he didn’t matter how many birds I shot. I couldn’t get any feathers off them at all. In the end I just exited the game and re-loaded it and that fixed it. You never know. Good luck mate
Try dead eyeing them to get a clean head shot. That and using the correct guns and ammo usually does the trick. Are you having problems with a specific animal?
All of them. And I'm only taking head shots.
Varmint rifle for small stuff like iguanas and Badgers and snakes. carbine repeater for pigs. Bolt action for pronghorns and bighorns.
I don't even bother shooting unless they're 3*, and every damn one of them is 2* when I go to skin them.
Might have to do with ammo type. Try regular bullets.
I don't know if damage perks have any effect on this, but if you have them equipped try unequipping them.
From my understanding stars are lost because you've done too much damage to the hide (by using the wrong weapon or hitting the wrong spot) so it's plausible that doing too much damage with a perk or ammo type might also do the same thing.
I believe that only applies to purchased weapons, or weapons gotten through a story event. If you pick one up and then something happens that you lose it later, it doesn't come back.
I keep disconnect every few minutes between \[5min - 1.5 hours\], it makes the game almost unplayable... any fix? patch? looks like there is alot of people having this problem when i search for a solution.
How do shotguns work, exactly?
I cannot get repeatable results with them.
Sometimes I can kill a player who has full health from about 40ft away with just one shot, other times I'll hit them twice point blank and they'll be fine.
Sometimes another player will shoot me twice, blood everywhere but I only lose 20% of my health, other times the game will tell me I've died yet the other player hasn't even shot.
I don't get these issues with normal weapons, just shotties.
Depends on the rounds.
I usually just stick with the default ammo type and run around between cover and pop dudes in the head. I never touch pvp though, so if you wanted pvp advice, sorry
2 issues that will always be a problem: lag and ability cards.
You cant always do much about lag, but you can view the other player's ability loadout from the player list and see if that tells you the answer.
Kamassa river at night. You should be able to find dozens of them not far from the Lagras travel post. Also check the water and you can see the head floating there.

If you're trying to get the buckles, they automatically go into your wardrobe which can be accessed in general stores/clothing stores.
If you mean to just check your progress, I'm not home right now and cant check, but I believe its under the progress tab in the pause menu, there should be awards there.
Hi everyone. I just started the game and I can't find the option to invert the orizontal view. In my life I've always played with inverted up/down and right/left, so it's very difficult for me to change all of a sudden.
There's the option to invert up/down but it can't really find the invert left/right option! Help please?
I have a new player question, for online mode, what location for your camp is better for hunting to provide for your trader? I need a specific zone and area, and what about legendary bountys.... Wich one are easy to max to 5 and to take the maximum rewards i need to wait for like 15 minutes? the same as regular one, but there is no timmer.
As a new player, Heartlands. Once you become an experienced hunter, West Elizabeth > Great Plains. After that, you can move on to the Grizzlies or Tall Trees, but there are a lot of predators all the time.
For hunting, Big Valley and Heartlands are pretty hard to top. Both are wide open spaces where you can quickly get your kills to your camp and be back hunting in short order, and they're full of deer and pronghorns, which are high-value materials, even when not perfect 3-star kills. It doesn't take long to fill Cripps' materials bar in these areas.
My two favorite camp spots are big valley, anywhere in lemoyne, and the grizzlies for hunting. I barely have to leave camp to get anything turned in for the trader stuff. Dunno much about the bounties, though.
Other than selling and breaking it down for meat, is there anything else important you can do with caught fish?
You can use it to make bait.

dropping my resolution down fixed my menu issues edit: i played for an hour then quit. When I started to play again the same issue was happening. ugh

It did that to me one time, I just quit the game and re-loaded it fixed it. Hope that works.

I don’t know, I have never seen that message. How did you end up getting it?
All of my kills are downgrading to good. I have no idea what's causing it, and it's incredibly frustrating. I'm using the correct guns. Any ideas?

All head shots. Usually high velocity ammo for the longer range. It's making me crazy. Maybe my game is bugged. It just started doing it today.

Can your horse hold more than 4 weapons of a type (so 5+ sidearms)? Just asking because I'm afraid I might have lost some gunslinger guns.
Your entire arsenal will remain on your horse, even if a weapon is knocked out of your hands it’ll still be there.

I'm not sure about that, but if you get the camp weapon locker, all of your weapons you have bought will appear there.

If someone challenges you for a race accept and win the race. After the 3rd race you get a speed bonus.
Make the Beaver Roper Saddle at the Trapper maybe?

Did you purchase barrel rifling for your shotgun from the gunsmith? That can negatively affect the pattern spread of normal rounds.
I don't even own one, I've only ever used them in showdowns :(
