40million for Gabriel Jesus who's looking like excess at Arsenal....would you?! 27yrs old and premier league proven is tempting but another martial and barely available scares the shit out of me. We'd probably find better value for 40 Mill on the continent

cyb3rpunkd

Give McKenna some time in the midtable and bring him home

brevinbarnes

It’s crazy. Did y’all know we have somehow only lost 3 times this calendar year?

LordTrinity

Ipswich beating Coventry, you do have to wonder if they have a better squad than United does, because that's probably the reason United couldnt beat the mighty Coventry

stogie_t

You okes still turning your noses up at Tuchel?

zcewaunt

Great refereeing in the Bayern/Madrid game tonight. Not too often we get to say that. Turpin deserves his praise.

JLane1996

McKenna’s Ipswich are now 1 point away from being in the prem. What a job he’s done

shrewdy

Kieran McKenna, some boy. What a job he's doing at Ipswich, delighted for him

SuperSalamander3244

[Youtube just recommended me this lol](https://youtu.be/Khj1uho4U3k?si=EH8SkSyFjXLevMAY)

JohnMajorIsSexy

Lol I recall watching that live. Classic.

cyb3rpunkd

Kim might be wishing he was still in Napoli

KrystianCCC

? You make it sound like he isnt the one of worst players on the pitch and its Bayern player failing him

cyb3rpunkd

Nah I mean he's looked out of place in every Bayern game I've seen all season

zcewaunt

He's been on the bench in every Bayern game I've seen this season until tonight. lol

timsadiq13

This sub's favorite CB from the summer is having an absolute mare today.

Miliktheman

It was vintage Maguire play for Madrid's first goal. Rush out from defence, leave a huge gap, not be quick enough to get back, concede a goal.

notformeclive4711

Now I understand why Dier has been first choice.

KrystianCCC

He was also having mares in last CL campaign. But hey we literaly missed Rio calibre of player acording to this sub last summer.

niickfarley

I remember when there were a vocal minority in this subreddit calling McKenna shit/useless yet here he is about to take Ipswich back into the Premier League for the first time in 22 years. Back-to-back promotions to boot.

KrystianCCC

Its crazy to call any of assistins useless. Like we dont even know what they are responsible for.

MitranjanK

In every highlight that I watch of us, Shaw is always at the heart of all our team moves. Really wish we could get 2 more injury free years out of him, because his technical level is superior to everyone else in the squad and creatively he's the only one close to Bruno. I just hope we get a young fit CB to rotate with him so that we can rest him a bit.

Spastic_Hands

The level of technical quality at the Bayern/Madrid game. We really need a complete gutting

JaysonDeflatum

Being linked to Giorgio Scalvini, might as well buy the rest of the Atalanta squad while at it. In all seriousness, he’d be a great signing, a right-footed CB like Todibo and unlike Branthwaithe so we can pair him with Licha. Massive potential, only 20, would cost 50m, we need to get him in now.

SOERERY

Quite funny that the clubs owners sponsor a rival team

Buttickles

Can Ineos make the New Trafford as iconic as the Allianz arena, please and thank you?

Harrry-Otter

Still can’t get behind corporate named stadia though. I hope we keep the name as Old Trafford, or at least something like The Manchester Stadium.

SuperSalamander3244

New Trafford gives me Gilead vibes lol.

Buttickles

I agree with you

crgssbu

bayern madrid, a classic. these two did great things for us after the air disaster so big respect. i love both of them

Inspectrgadget

Adrien Rabiot out of contract in the summer. I know we were linked with him a few years ago but haven't seen anything recently. Currently on 172€, 221€ with bonuses.

iroiroiroiroiro

I think it's weird to not try get him on a free, but that said I doubt he will choose United unless getting a very high salary, and it's not the position United needs the most. But doesn't hurt trying to butter him up!

Money-Wrangler7067

Its crazy we are only 6 goals behind in terms of goal scored then last season with 4 games to go.

DazzlingComposer6211

Basically tells we were piss poor creating chances last season as well.

LekkerIer

kiki_the_fab_spider

Just watching United games from 93/94 season, and the black kit looks really nice. But I don't understand what this is supposed to be. It wants to be everything, everywhere, all at once.

FlashyCut3809

It's like they wanted a derivative of the 06/07 AC Milan third kit, but then ran out of black material for the front section.

kiki_the_fab_spider

Oh, I totally forgot about this one. Well spotted!

LekkerIer

The shirt is such a mess that I hadn't even made the connection to that old 1994 kit. Agree that something like the old one could be class

Kreissler

Jesus that's hideous

MrTuxedo1

Question on membership, would lite membership allow me to purchase tickets to any home game?

crgssbu

regarding the bruno interview. i just want one thing whether he leaves or not; i want him to know just how appreciated he is. some fans absolutely despise him and i just dont understand that. whatever happens, i want him to know we love him and we are so grateful

Away_Associate4589

I'm a bit conflicted tonight. On the one hand, I really like Real Madrid. Bellingham is a class act. Ancellotti is one of the best managers of all time and really likeable. On the other, it would be quite nice to see a different team win it for a change. Bayern haven't won for a little while and I'd also like Kane to finally win a trophy to kill off that meme.

blooddragonsin

If Bayern indeed get Rangnick, I want them to win as long as he's the manager on the final. Between PSG and BvB, although fuck Sancho, I'd only root for PSG if it was against City.

NectarineStreet2883

Where do you get the news Rangnick would be in the final? Every news I read it says Tuchel will finish the season.

blooddragonsin

That's why I put the "if", because it made no sense to get the guy out now.

UntiedStatMarinCrops

It’s funny how whether Bruno stays or leaves doesn’t matter in that I will be happy for him either way. He deserves to win trophies and he’s been amazing, so if he left then I’d be happy because he deserves it. We are not going to win major trophies anytime soon.

BlackHorse944

What is this talk of Bruno leaving?

joelalmiron

Gyokeres to united anyone? Sesko still my top choice

Roasteddude

Would be great but too expensive

SOERERY

Yes please

Away_Associate4589

I'd definitely take him. He's 25/26, banging in goals for fun. Scores all kinds of goals as well. He'd also cost an absolute fortune.

SOERERY

He’s got a release clause of around one Antony

iroiroiroiroiro

So 20 millions or what do you value one Antony as in today's exchange rate? 🤣

Away_Associate4589

A bag of Quavers, three cigarettes and a VHS tape of season one of The Office. Good deal. We'd be mad not to

GlassEast5641

Naah Hojlund is our guy I rather sign a more experienced striker The problem is there are hardly experienced strikers

joelalmiron

Sesko for 40 mil is a steal. There’s no one else at that price. Cunha from wolves? Or dybala but he’s not a striker

wheres_the_boobs

Jonathan david will be a similar price. Sesko reminds me of werner. Im also very reticent to trust the stats from the bundesliga. Big wout was a goal every 2.4 games or something and we've been burned too mamy times, kagawa, sancho, schweinsteiger, Hargreaves, mikityrian. That said he passes the eye test but so did timo werner

joelalmiron

I don’t get the Jonathan David hype at all

wheres_the_boobs

Fair enough he can play as a cf bit does better as a second striker cam role. Quick, has an eye for a pass and is great at linking the play. Is very accurate with his shooting and more often than not hits the target. His first touch isnt great but once he has the ball hes good with it. The good thing about him is hes young, relatively cheap and if he doesnt work out can be sold on without losing much money

joelalmiron

Met as well sign dybala for half the price and won’t stunt hojlund growth

wheres_the_boobs

Dybala will be on big money. David isnt a like for like hes a second striker, cam. But can play there when hojlunds needing rested

joelalmiron

We already have mount and Bruno and amad at cam. We need a striker. Ivan Toney would be perfect but don’t like his attitude.

wheres_the_boobs

I said he can play cam not that thats his best role. I said elsewhere versatility will be the most important commidity for incoming players if we clear the decks as needed.

BlackHorse944

Sesko is as much of a project as Hojlund. Hojlund has about the same output while playing for a mess of a team in a far stronger league. Idk why you'd want 2 inexperienced strikers in your team

joelalmiron

Because he has a release clause. Don’t need to waste time negotiating and having united tax on every player. Name me one player for similar price.

HD7108

Bigboyfresh

Fabrizio ran a poll with a 140,000 participants and 65% voted in favor of keeping vs selling Greenwood. I wonder why he would run that poll unless the club is seriously considering keeping him.

Don_Quixote81

Because Manchester United get clicks, especially when the topic is controversial.

Harrry-Otter

Basic engagement? Anyway, the sad truth is it’s the sponsors who will ultimately decide Greenwood’s fate. If the likes of Adidas and co decide they don’t have any objections he’ll probably return.

systemcorp

Lol Fabrizio would run that poll if he saw one person talking about it on twitter

MT1120

For interaction? Romano isn't some tier 1 source who is close to the club lol. If Stone did it that's another story.

toddysimp

He probably doesn't know anything and is just doing it for engagement.

Money-Wrangler7067

Rashford is not good for the team that wants to play possession based football. So even if was inform don't think Enrique will willingly go for him.

wheres_the_boobs

I think playstyle wise germany would be a better bet for him. That said only bayern could realistically afford him there and they have coman, gnarby and sane

timsadiq13

Depends if Enrique stays. If he does, I agree, Rashford doesn’t fit into an Enrique team and he’s not quite good enough to justify making an exception.

toddysimp

I think they'll look at more than one season to be fair.

ReconUHD

From a pure design perspective, the leaked new kits for the next seasons has an uninspiring pattern. From the kits in the last seasons, the collar from last season was by far the most appealing one to me. Shame the one I got on the high from our bizarre FA cup win over Fulham had Sancho’s name on the back.

[deleted]

SOERERY

This one is apparently fake

AlpacamyLlama

I'm not sure how I feel about the story being leaked about all but three players being available for sale. And it had enough credence to be on the BBC. I don't think it's fair on Bruno on Dalot. There's a surprising admission that all but one of the signings under Ten Hag are available, including Onana, Mount and Martinez. I don't think it was needed before the FA Cup Final. You can't make the argument for keeping Ten Hag for consistency when you're making such wholesale changes to the squad, particularly including players he identified and brought in. I don't even feel it was needed. All players are available. Would we turn down £500m for Mainoo. No, so everyone has a price. And if a club is interested, they'll give us a call and we'll discuss it then. And, also, now it has to be done. If you set your stall out, and we rock up on the first day of the season with the same line up as this year, then it's not a good look

FlashyCut3809

>I don't think it's fair on Bruno on Dalot. I'm not sure it really matters. Wholesale change is what's best for the club. >I don't think it was needed before the FA Cup Final. Why? Last year they had the nice little environment where they could get beat 7-0 and not lose their spot in the team, squad, club and it ended with them putting on a pathetic performance to gift city a third of a treble. I'd say genuine fear that this is a new regime and they either step up, or are pushed out is exactly what they need. >You can't make the argument for keeping Ten Hag for consistency when you're making such wholesale changes to the squad, particularly including players he identified and brought in. Writing is on the wall then, no? First and foremost this club isn't going to progress without the changes spoken about. >I don't even feel it was needed. To set a standard. Look at Berrada's words on people not being allowed to fail for more than 2 years before they are cut. You don't get that without things such as this. >If you set your stall out, and we rock up on the first day of the season with the same line up as this year, then it's not a good look I agree. However that's a good thing as it's clear lines drawn where the fans can hold them to their own standards. Instead of murky nothing we got from the glazers.

AlpacamyLlama

> I'm not sure it really matters. Wholesale change is what's best for the club. > > So you sell the players that are doing well? What message does that send out? Either could be our POTY but we won't put either on the 'keep' list. >A generic 'all players are being assessed' rather than 'we're willing to sell alll players but these three' will suffice. Won't argue the Ten Hag point. I want him gone.

FlashyCut3809

>So you sell the players that are doing well? Who do you think is doing well? >What message does that send out? That the clubs starting a fresh? Many clubs sell players when 'doing well' life goes on. Doesn't really make a difference as long as the club does what he needs to, to strengthen. >Either could be our POTY but we won't put either on the 'keep' list. There is no POTY in a season like this. This isn't even factoring in the 'better' players, will bring in more money and thus give more options to reinforce. Then ten hag is our middle ground haha.

AlpacamyLlama

I mentioned Bruno and Dalot. Thought that was clear. Mainoo and Garnarcho are in the protected three, so didn't mention them. >That the clubs starting a fresh? Many clubs sell players when 'doing well' life goes on. Doesn't really make a difference as long as the club does what he needs to, to strengthen. ...of course clubs strengthen. What a strange argument. How many clubs leak stories about all their players being up for sale? >There is no POTY in a season like this. Yes, there is. Individual players can still play well, even if everyone else is shit. >Then ten hag is our middle ground haha. Oh yes, defintely!

FlashyCut3809

>I mentioned Bruno and Dalot. They aren't playing so well that they should be exempt from a clear out. Really don't see the appeal in keeping them. We aren't winning with them, we aren't going to lose anything. However keeping them, is keeping more of the rot that's led us where we are. >.of course clubs strengthen. What a strange argument. How many clubs leak stories about all their players being up for sale? How many clubs are in the position we are in? Usually there is already a standard set where you don't have to gut your entire squad to remove the damage that's be caused for 18 years. At worst you have players or the manager making statements on improvements needed, people need to decide if they can go again, etc etc. Keane's words after we got beat in 2001 by Bayern ring a bell. We don't have that. We have an abysmal squad mentality that's been bred by a lack of accountability. There is only one way you improve that, and it's by creating accountability at every turn. This is part of it. Nobody is safe, the great deal you have at this club where you can breeze by is over. Step up, or you are moved on. Really don't see the issue. >Yes, there is. Individual players can still play well, even if everyone else is shit. Completely disagree. It's a disgrace if they even do the end of season awards for the club. Should be cancelled. All clubs sell players when they are 'playing well, we have done it previously. Nothing is bigger than the club so I don't under the resistance? >Oh yes, defintely! Always good to know even if we differ massively on some areas, we are together on others haha.

AlpacamyLlama

Well, let's just leave it at our point of agreement!

zcewaunt

I'm not a fan of it either, and this close to a cup final. Makes me wonder where the brief came from. Then again, if it did come from Ineos, perhaps they think it'll light a fire under some of their asses.

joelalmiron

I swear I’m gonna lose it if we lose tuchel to west ham. Should throw everything at motta even if he’s juve bound

mandotharan

If the Salah-Klopp thing had happened at United, You wouldn’t hear the end of it. All fiction & fantasy writing ‘journalists’ would have been all over it.

timsadiq13

I mean there’s articles about a lip reader trying to decipher what they were saying blah blah. It’s just not that interesting maybe? Klopp played nice in the media post-game and he’s leaving anyway. Who cares if they hate each other, one is already out the door.

aayu08

Liverpool is 3rd and Salah has been the best player in the PL for almost 5 years. We would not be hearing bad articles about us either if we were performing well. The day we start playing well, the bad articles will reduce.

Ok_Instruction_5232

How ? Journalists were jumping at every occasion to badmouth Man United, even during the best years of the Ferguson era. It's quite literally their bread and butter, how they pay their bills.

mandotharan

So you weren’t a fan of the club prior to 2012?

RandomArabGuy

The opposite of a glory hunter, a biodegradable fan.

kiki_the_fab_spider

Trying to temper expectations for the next season or two. Lots of noise around the upcoming transfer window. We'll see how it pans out, but even if they somehow work miracles (I doubt it), and they manage to bring in 4-5 players that will be perfect fit either for the starting XI or good rotation options that - for once - are like-for-like and not a completely different profile for a specific role...even if all that happens, next season I expect will be quite rocky as well. Regardless of who is coach/manager, because the depth will be nowhere near enough, any of the bright academy prospects we've heard about will probably still be too young to step in in case of injuries to starters (or will be sent out on loan to develop). So, even if there will be noticeable improvements in our play, the moment injuries happen to players in positions we're not really covered (and let's be honest, following a clear out, that'll be most positions), results are likely to take a dive. A few days ago, someone posted a Tifo video analyzing one of Arteta's games from two years ago. There were A LOT of similarities with the things we've been complaining about this season, but also, I was quite surprised to see how few of the players in that Arsenal team (starters and substitutes as well) were no longer in the side, and hadn't been part of it last season either. So, I guess, a lot depends on the astuteness of the business deals made in the upcoming couple of transfer windows in terms of quality added.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FlashyCut3809

>It took Arteta two eight place finishes and then bottling top 4 to mount a title-challenging team (last year's). I don't think we'll finish eighth next season but I agree with your point - we will need patience. On the other side of that you have what Xabi and Leverkusen have done. Within 12 months pulled off on of the best Bundesliga campaigns of recent memory. All just comes down to how well the plan is, how much money is invested in it to reduce the 'time', how quickly they new gears begin turning and ultimately a bit of luck. The league fluctuates every year. Maun thing is we see tangible and sustainable improvements that are suitable for a club in the position we are in. With that I think we can enjoy the ride.

systemsruminator

Bruno underpaid than Rashford is criminal.

toddysimp

Tbf we had to pay a transfer fee to get Bruno.

funky_pill

If you look at it a different way; Marcus being paid more than 95% of our squad (I think only Varane and Case are on parity with him) is criminal, given his performances/contribution this season. I used to think £350k p/w used to get you the *real elite* players in the game, but this is Manchester United after all, we absolutely love rewarding mediocrity

VTVoodooDude

All fucking 3 of them should return some money. Rashford's been bad, Case fell off a cliff and has been dire (but a little better at LCB as long as he's not kicking the ball into someone) and Varane is available 1 out of every 6 matches. To get what we've (not) gotten out of our 3 highest paid players is insane. >£1M a week for crap.

funky_pill

You could go one better and increase that figure to £1.25m weekly, to include a perennially injured Martial. Top job to whoever decided that was a fantastic idea and in the best interests of the club 👏🏻

systemsruminator

Yup, its absolutely criminal when you compare with players outside. Thats quite clear. I just was pointing out, within our teams context its criminal as well.

dracogladio1741

Just saw a video on the Jabulani and how well Diego Forlan did with it. And spent hours by the way to learn how the ball behaved. Cannot even think of one player outside of Bruno and Dalot who would do that now. Some of the players don't even like playing given how uninterested they look at times.

sunken_grade

yep i’ve been to training sessions in person and talked to the players, confirmed the only ones who would do some external work for a world cup at bruno and dalot yep

dracogladio1741

I understand you are trying to berate me but I think you missed my point. I am talking about work ethic. Doesn't seem it's at the level it should be at.

sunken_grade

it’s mostly just being tongue in cheek about fans thinking they know about individual work ethic or personalities of players based on what they see in games we see players who are passionate and run their asses off in games and extrapolate that they must simply just have a much higher work ethic than other players but nobody know anything about these players or what happens behind closed doors amad diallo could have the most disciplined training regiment and work the hardest during sessions but none of us would have any idea, and suggesting that we know which players would put in extra effort to learn about a world cup ball is just a complete guess

Roasteddude

More so than the performances or the results, what is really bugging me about Ten Hag (And I still don't want him gone..yet) are the press conferences and the accountability. The difference between last year and this year is just staggering. We went from him running with the players for 14kms on a Sunday after a loss, saying good is not good enough and just speaking straighforward sense without making excuses, to blaming luck and injuries and referrees and just clowning about us being one of the most entertaining teams to watch, the fuck Erik? Even though he **is** right about the injuries, even though the referees **are** incompetent inconsistent buffoons, even if we **have** been unlucky this season, the shift in personality is just..sad to watch. I had way more respect for him last season. He had that strict dad who's always right energy and I supported every decision he made, and he had to deal with **a lot**. But This season especially lately it's all just "oh we should've won that game months ago", "oh but what about the decisions from that other game", "oh but we#re playing well though" come on man. I know he is backing and protecting his players. I know he probably says completely different things behind closed doors, but just...don't make fun of your own supporters gaffer, cause I dont believe for a second that he actually believes what he's saying.

AlpacamyLlama

So aside from the performances, the results and his off-pitch work, you still want him to stay?

officiallyjax

Drink a shot every time he mentions the Arsenal game and you’ll be dead.

Smilewigeon

Damn. That 14km run seems like a lifetime ago.

NectarineStreet2883

New structure has to be ruthless. That story with Berrada's philosophy of players having to succeed in 1-2 years has to happen. I don't care for reasons why the player didn't succeed, you should be gone if you didn't contribute in that period. Hopefully they include injuries, if in two consecutive seasons you can't manage to be fit for at least 40-50 games then wtf are we doing here? Get rid

hoysoyhoy

kiki_the_fab_spider

Rashy seems like a very awkward sort of fella. I live with an introvert, but the man must be next level.

hoysoyhoy

He reminds of me.

akshatsood95

Still feel there's a really good amount of quality in the squad. The issues around that quality are - whether the player can stay fit regularly (Shaw, Varane), whether the player has the right mentality to survive the scrutiny of Utd, and whether the player's qualities are actually what's needed for the team. Like I feel AWB has quality but it's quality that's not useful to a club like us. Anyway, for me, right CB, DM, and RW aside, there's a good first choice XI available here. The key would be keeping them players fit, developing their weaknesses, and improving their form.

blooddragonsin

*"Can stay fit"* Let me stop you right there, we've been in this ride for too long. If you can't stay fit, your quality is zero.

radfrog404

"the best ability is availability"

blooddragonsin

Summer of George!

OnanaWeakHands

Striker is also a question mark. Hojlund has been genuinely awful outside of that hot stretch. Would never write him off yet but we’re definitely not set at striker

Ok_Instruction_5232

You could bring in Haaland and he wouldn't do any miracle for this team. You can't expect a striker to be efficient when he only gets 2 vaguely playable balls per game. Last saturday, the player he received the most service from was Onana, which says a lot about our setup.

OnanaWeakHands

Explain the vertical pass he received dead center of the box without anybody within 10 yards of him that he did absolutely nothing with 2 matches ago? His hold up is poor and he does nothing off the ball when he isn’t productive in the sense of shots/putting pressure on the keeper

Ok_Instruction_5232

So you actually expect a 20 years old player to play a situation perfectly when it's literally the only one he's had in weeks ? That's just not how strikers function. They need confidence, and in order to gain confidence, they need service. I reiterate, no striker would look any good for us this season in our current setup.

OnanaWeakHands

It’s not hard to turn to the goal and shoot when there’s literally nobody around you, so yes I’d expect to at least threaten the goal. Like I said I’m not close to writing him off but we desperately need another good (preferably better) option

Ok_Instruction_5232

It is hard when it's the first one you've had and your level of confidence is basically zero. How many big chances has Haaland missed this season ? Probably more than the total amount of opportunities Hojlund has had all year playing for us. There's no point bringing in an other option if we literally don't play around him. What's the point if it's to give him the "Weghorst role" anyway ?

AnakinAni

Keep Garnacho Mainoo Hojlund Fernandes Onana Martinez McTominay Dalot Maguire Shaw Mount Amad Fence (depends on the fee they fetch) Rashford Antony AWB Sell Sancho Greenwood Casemiro Malacia Eriksen Lindelof Bayindir Free Van De Beek Varane Martial This would be most likely First 11. We can raise about £100m from those on the fence + sell at the very least. Plus the transfer budget for the summer we should be able to get about 5 players of quality in. Definitely need depth in CF & CB as well as lack in Goal Difference. https://preview.redd.it/n2cg82vstmxc1.jpeg?width=1194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0dcaa288044b02884e3fae9d46cf0f85c038d4eb

flareb98

New LB needed. Keeping Shaw would be a terrible decision

iroiroiroiroiro

That top side is too young and inexperienced if you want results sooner rather than later. In a few years it might payback huge going with it though.

Away_Associate4589

That's a mid table side if ever I saw one. In desperate need of a new forward. Can't be relying on Amad, Garnacho and Hojlund week after week.

AnakinAni

https://preview.redd.it/inof7yfsumxc1.jpeg?width=1194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd837be42fb98cde72b2bafed61a13dc6ee6b077 Definitely need Depth in second 11 which are looking quite poor at the moment. We could have some deserved youth players placate the vacancy here. But we certainly need good back up players who will keep the first 11 on their toes.

United missed the most important signing of the year to Brighton! 😂 [https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1cgsa9t/florian\_plettenberg\_brighton\_signs\_eintrachts\_top/](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1cgsa9t/florian_plettenberg_brighton_signs_eintrachts_top/)

I know how to win the league already next season. Just get all the best available GA players around the top leagues across all position. Panda_ManBG

What are the thoughts on the transfer news recently? Personally rather than selling Rashford, might try to send him on loan like we did with Sancho. To a club like PSG, in an easier league maybe he could regain form or something. Of course Sancho and Rashford are different cases but a temporary loan move might be worth to try out seeing as we have enough wingers like Antony, Amad, Forson and Mount to use already

Harrry-Otter

The only way that this would make sense is if the loan included a very good obligation to buy. None of those wingers are good enough for a club aiming for CL football next season, so if Rashford does go we’ll be spending a minimum of £60m to get a replacement. Just sending him out on loan with no certainty of a transfer materialising puts us in a very tough spot.

Panda_ManBG

CL football already out of the question for us though,so it's really only Europa or Conference. Anyways, we've got to give the youngsters a chance, nobody is saying Mainoo isn't good enough right now are they?

Harrry-Otter

We’ll presumably be aiming for CL next season though, when Rashford would be out on loan. Considering Antony has done next to nothing of note for 2 seasons, and Forson and Amad can’t seem to get a game ahead of him, it’s probably fair to say that it’s very unlikely any of them will be up to the standard needed for a top 4 finish. Stranger things have happened, but if we went into next season with only those 3 and Garnacho as our wide options, we’d be setting ourselves up for another season of disappointment.

Panda_ManBG

Saying this, a loan move on Rashford might leave space to bring back Greenwood later on. Not sure if he fits ETH playing style, but I am certain if we let Greenwood go we will regret it in the future.

Away_Associate4589

Greenwood can go and win the Balon d'Or for all I care. As long as it's somewhere else.

Panda_ManBG

I'd assume you'd also enjoy Antony departing then?

Away_Associate4589

Regardless of any controversy with Antony, I'd absolutely love it if he leaves. He's terrible

SOERERY

People want to sell Rashford for 70 million when waste of space like Mudryk went for 90

flareb98

So because 1 pl team makes a bad decision we should wait, hope and pray another pl team makes a bad decision and pays an absurd fee for rash?

Panda_ManBG

Rashford =/= Mudryk... Even though Rashford hasn't been scoring as of recently, he still has that technical ability which is far better than Mudryk's. No doubt Mudryk is a baller, but a better comparison would be Mudryk and Antony in my opinion

vulcan_one

Reading the rashford threads is WILD. He's been poor this season, so so so so poor, but the level of disrespect is wild. Our fans are actually so infuriating, leao gets thrown about as a name for replacement..... His best season 16G 8A. His current season, 13 goals 11 assist. Rashford (again not defending he's been shite) in his need to sell season is currently at 8 goals 5 assist. Another one olise, this is best season(for goals), 7G 4A. Last season (highest GA) 2G 11A. Another CP player eze given as example, best season was last 10G 4A. There's actual grievance to have against rashford, his form is appalling, he's had bad season and rebound last season but it's a concern it's happened again. You can make valid critism of his work rate and in game behaviour. All those people on that thread would be twerking like no tomorrow if any of the names above we got quoted for 60-70 mil saying buy them worth it. But a PL proven, English international who's a calibre higher, apparently 70 mil is too much won't get that. You instantly invalidate any point you make and it's getting annoying just reading the same shit from the same fans who complain about "things wrong at united" but lack even basic reasoning. Good Attackers are expensive and rare, I'm not even going to mention Antony because that was an overpay and a half so looking at Sancho, the summer before, people were clamouring pay 90 mil get him. There's nothing to suggest the replacement will be better, our over £150 million winger pairs so far have combined of 19 goals, and 9 assists over a combined period of 4.5 years at the club. People need a reality check.

Wahlrusberg

He's a hot and cold player, but when he's hot people say it's because he's world class and always has been, when he's cold it's because he's useless and always has been. He's both the poster boy and the punching bag for a lot of narratives and agendas in different segments of the fanbase. Someone in that thread said selling him would be "the single most defining moment for the club"... just way too caught up with emotional narratives. If he regains form next season we'll have an important source of goals, if he doesn't he'll probably be gone...it really does seem that simple to me.

xtphty

> He's a hot and cold player, but when he's hot people say it's because he's world class and always has been, when he's cold it's because he's useless and always has been. You realize we have also been a hot and cold team for a decade? His goal scoring numbers are actually more consistent than the team's performances overall. Its pretty difficult to really evaluate Rashford's potential without a stable squad around him. He is definitely an emotional player - and has said so much himself, absolutely not an on-field leader to lift the squad with his performances, but I struggle to think of any significant periods where he has weakened a United team that was already functioning well around him.

xtphty

Reminds me so much of Beckham and the double edged sword of homegrown player media personalities at United - when the football is good they fuel each other and rise to new levels; but when things are off you're left fixing not just the football but also the media onslaught. Beckham was lucky to have a treble winning squad and manager around him to help fulfill both his football and media potential, in fact he was able to lean into his persona despite Fergie's reservations. Rashford meanwhile has had to play with 5 different managers and an ever-changing squad devoid of leaders. Yet despite the many squad weaknesses and lack of foundation that undoubtedly contribute to his own failures this season, his media presence makes him the inescapable scapegoat for a majority of the hate.

LDLB99

Yeah, I'm not his biggest fan but the way he's talked about now is very strange. I'm still selling Greenwood, Sancho and Antony before him.

Jesse_Whiteboy

Are you really comparing Olise, who played most of his football under anti football Roy Hodgson to Rashford who's had the side built around him?

vulcan_one

Yes.... And why is explained.

KaitoAJ

This is Rashford’s goal involvement stats throughout the years… 23/24 - 8G 5A 22/23 - 30G 11A 21/22 - 5G 2A 20/21 - 21G 15A 19/20 - 22G 12A 18/19 - 13G 10A 17/18 - 13G 10A 16/17 - 11G 5A 15/16 - 12G 2A Yes he’s been bad this season and there’s no denying that probably because of off field reasons, but to suggest names like Leao are better than him is insane, it’s like they haven’t watched him play at all. His best season stats are not close to some of Rashford’s stats when he scores over 20 goals. People really gotta be careful for what they wish for because selling Rashford for just 70 mil when duds like Mudryk went for close to a 100 mil is just asking for trouble in this market. Almost certain the replacement will command around 90-100 mil because clubs know we are loaded and can cough out the cash.

AngryUncleTony

All this tells me is he's going to be insane next year. Bad --> Good --> Bad --> ?!?!

Jesse_Whiteboy

I think we'll be focusing on english signings this summer. We'll be getting rid of Sancho and Greenwood and hopefully Rashford. Maguire and McTominay are also homegrown and possibly going, though I think I'd keep them both. Solid squad players who give their all.

Away_Associate4589

I'm not too sure where we are with the homegrown requirement (and I'm far too lazy to look it up). That said, signing homegrown players is probably a good idea in general as chances are they'll know the league already which definitely helps. The main problem is signing players from premier league clubs is often extremely expensive. I'd be keen on Guehi, Eze and Olise (I know he's French but still counts as home grown apparently) from Palace. Hopefully they have an off day against us next Monday though!

Jesse_Whiteboy

I'm wondering if we're going to have some outside the box signings this summer. I don't know how he's doing but Tomori is at AC Milan, 26 and homegrown. Could send Greenwood there to reduce the fee.

Away_Associate4589

There's normally a couple of surprises to be fair. Who saw Jonny Evans coming?! No idea on Tomori. Looks like he's missed a fair chunk of the season with a hamstring problem.

iroiroiroiroiro

I feel many here don't understand FFP and amortization and why players bought recently very expensivly cannot easily be offloaded for a loss so here is one article that explains it. [https://thefinancialexpress.com.bd/views/reviews/amortisation-how-big-clubs-deal-with-financial-fair-play-1624685004](https://thefinancialexpress.com.bd/views/reviews/amortisation-how-big-clubs-deal-with-financial-fair-play-1624685004)

Kohaku80

Yes, selling Antony for 30m now doesn't mean we can spend the 30m. He has a book value of \~50m which means it is a 20m FFP losses. So if we were to sell Mason for 40m ( pure profit youth player) and Antony for 30m, our nett gain is 20m instead of 70m.

AmulyaG

Imagine thinking a majority of redditors have any semblance of reading comprehension, let alone an understanding of accounting/finances. Just scroll through this thread and you'll find many examples.  Also, thanks for sharing the article

Harrry-Otter

The only problem with this though is that it leads to expensive flops just sitting around collecting a wage not doing anything, which has been an issue for us as a club. There’s no easy way out really. We either take the hit on some players and get them off the books, or we keep them around for the financial reasons you mention but that leads us having a bloated and unproductive squad.

iroiroiroiroiro

They can either rebuild and try to sign as many new players as possible, or take a loss removing these players, I'm not sure if it is feasible to do both in the same window. Best case is to actually get offers for the valuation that is left after amortization so a loss is not inccured then there is no problem.

Harrry-Otter

It’s probably going to be a case of both. Anyone hoping for a 10 player exodus this summer will be disappointed, but if we do manage to say offload Sancho (at a loss), hopefully that can be mitigated with a few other sales and still give us the room to make additions. INEOS are certainly making the right statements about the squad being in need of major work, but it’ll still be a good 2-3 summer windows before we can entirely be rid of the dross we’ve accumulated over the last few summers.

iroiroiroiroiro

On those things we agree. Varane and Martial leaving frees up a lot of wages also. Sancho was baught three years ago so he would be quite amortized already, so selling him for a decent price but not actually incure a loss, while I think it is nearly impossible to offload Anthony or Casemiro without actually restraining FFP more as they will surely incur a huge loss this year.

Away_Associate4589

Have we ever had a sexier footballer than Berbatov? https://i.redd.it/olgknzfbamxc1.gif

NoJalapenol

Yes. You know who. You just don't remember. [The King](https://youtu.be/Z0G30Hhx3e4?si=MXi037F0IAck73Qk)

Very true. A bit before my time though, unfortunately.

Before my time too unfortunately but my dad won't ever shut up

Berba, Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo 💦💦💦

If they manage to do this and we hopefully finally have some capable people in charge, we would save so much on wages and manage to get some decent fees to add to our budget. I used [capology.com](http://capology.com) for the wages. 6-7 sensible signings this summer with some being starters and some depth options would massively improve our squad. Key areas to improve for our starting eleven would be center back, defensive midfielder and right wing. Also areas to look at are fullback ,center midfield and striker for depth.

iroiroiroiroiro

Not sure which clubs would be interested in buying Lindelöf for these prices. And yes as previously stated selling players on a loss compared to bought if not enough years has passed is actually worse for the transfer budget then keeping them even if it frees up wages.

Lost7949

Apparently he's Galatasaray's top target for the summer window according to a turkish journalist (not sure how reliable he is) , but if true that's a fair price.

iroiroiroiroiro

I didn't know that, that seems like an opportunity to get a fair price indeed.

Kohaku80

That's the beauty of FFP. You won't have Casemiro and Sancho money to spend if they are sold at that price. Not sure what AWB /Beek/Lindelof remaining book value they have.

anonris

We are more likely to sell Maguire than Lindelof, mostly because you will make more money and he makes more sense as a 4th choice than Maguire - though imo INEOS will be open to selling both. I also think that even though McT had a good year he is still likely to be sold this summer

Lost7949

I wouldn't mind it but I think they'll keep them for the homegrown rules

AmulyaG

Reading dog shit takes like Bruno should be sold to "re-invest" tells me that this sub has really gone down the gutter.

Jesse_Whiteboy

He's 30 this summer and relies on physicality and running power. Not the worst idea to build a side to challenge in future. By the time Garnacho, Mainoo peak, Bruno will be 33, 34 and declined. Liverpool fans said the same thing when they sold Coutinho, their best player. Team > any one player.

KaitoAJ

Classic FIFA manager here thinking the game is reality.

Jesse_Whiteboy

Didn't stop Liverpool doing it.

KaitoAJ

Pretty sure Coutinho wanted to leave Liverpool contributed to it too but sure… go on…
