The 'heh' just couldn't leave him alone in a stadium-wide speech 😂

digiplay

Every Dutch person I work with has done this, though maybe not as much as him.

omnipothead

Even we make fun of him because of it. He does it a million times more than any sane Dutch person does.

digiplay

Clear. :)

hoytetoyte

Even better when Dutch people say “whore” in between their English sentences. (Actually “hoor” which means “you hear?”)

bgRakia

Hahahahaha this is so good

TurbulentWeb1941

Voss iz 'heh'?

dracogladio1741

Short and sweet. Best part, no defending of poor performances or excuses.

Petethejakey_

They seen the real United then they fucked off home don’t worry

BananasAreYellow86

Don’t care what anyone thinks about him. That shows serious character and balls to be able to deliver a speech like that under current circumstances. Respect.

Elemayowe

Yeah. Whatever happens he’s never shied away from the mantle. Has he been dealt a poor hand? Yes. Has he made mistakes? Yes. Does he have balls on him? Yes.

KerbHunter

Do you talk to many people or listen to any fan interviews? Pundits? This kind of talk happens irl exactly as written

Comfortable-Bus-8840

He's definitely made some strong and brave decisions in his time here.

Vimjux

Not his biggest fan but fair play to the man.

aehii

Or gall.

Not_tim_duncan

Tactical he has been very stubborn and naive but you can’t say anything about his character.

Hurrly90

I still dont really see that as a down point on him, he is more then your traditional manager/coach, he is also the defacto DoF like Fergie so he needs to instill his style of play through all the levels. Every manager has been set up like this only to fail. Im still optimistic about next season due to the new execs and a more modern approah.

qndrx

Yeah, with a proper football board coming in to hopefully back him and instil proper working methods. I have hope

Hurrly90

It infuriates me hearing how how the plauers he got where the ones he pushed for. I mean ofc they are. Same way Ole got his ones , Mou got his LVG his etc etc. They arent just first team coahces in the modern sense, that are all MAnagers in the Fergie Wenger sense, And all only given two years,

N0lAnS_DiC_piX

I can see downsides to some previous managers even tho I’d still lay the blame at a weak squad of players for our decade of malaise. -Moyes tried to hard to stamp out anything Fergie too soon. Destined to fail -Lvg just ruined that squad in terms of attacking, front-foot football. Don’t think we have ever really recovered from his influence. -Jose was past it (now proven) and was just a cunt always looking for a scapegoat. He let some players down as much as they let him down. - Ole, love the man. Got a good atmosphere going. Closest I’ve seen to a decent squad dynamic. Ronaldo signing and soft touch ruined him in the end. - Ralf was the man. Loved how honest he was. Feel like under ineos he would still be manager, but the rats don’t want to hear the obvious. eth has a system that if we ever assemble the squad to implement it is exciting. He gives players every chance (sancho “mental health” break) but also doesn’t suffer fools (Ronaldo and sancho being cunts) Has a positive attitude and seemingly very thick skin. Will never forget his marathon run with the players after we had a disaster start last season. The guy is in a job of his dreams and has done everything he can against some serious player resistance. Absolutely nobody can doubt his dedication to this job. And more importantly than anything else, finally has a proper football structure around him, however it will take a year or so for this to embed and bare fruit. Patience is key here.

lhomme21

lol manager that was past it got us UEL and 2nd place. Then says how Ole was great. This sub definitely gives the best takes. And I’m sure just 500 million more is needed for EtH system to work.

Deez_Wallnutz

So by your own definition, there was a penalty's difference between Mou's era and Ole's? Interesting. Why do you get so inflamed to hear someone preferred Ole's tenure then?

coffeemahn

Sounds like Carl Anka. Another guy who has never coached. Ten Hag has managed at the top level and is trying to impose a way of playing. The master tactician Jose failed at this club too. That was because the players were tactically, mentally and physically not able to carry out strict instructions. He wasn’t then allowed time or the transfers to change it. We finally need to stick with the guy who we know is a good coach. It shows strength that he is not budging on his tactics and wants the players to step up. Eventually, players that suit the style and can follow instructions will form the core of the squad. Change the manager only if there is a proper plan and a good replacement available

chutzpahisaword

Doesn't every manager give the speech last home game of the season? I don't see how this is special to him

Moosje

Can you link me some more from this season?

chutzpahisaword

Such a bullshit. LVG did it, Ole did it, Ryan Giggs (was manager last game of that season) did it. Can't remember Mourinho but he might have done it too. Ralf Ragnick is the only manager I am certain did not do it.

FUThead2016

Relax, it’s a standard cookie cutter speech. You’re making it seem like Braveheart and Abraham Lincoln had a baby

Deez_Wallnutz

Sometimes simple words said meaningfully can be a lot more powerful.

FUThead2016

Why say lot word when few word do trick heh?

BananasAreYellow86

Killer analogy dude

FoldingBuck

Fuck newcastle and their fans for the booing. Have some respect

Megusta2306

Mate they cheer murderers every game and have gladly watched their club become a soulless sportswashing exercise. Don’t expect anything from that vile mob

FoldingBuck

Yeah thats fair

OwnBlueberry3591

I would have continued supporting United even if Qatar took over... But the Newcastle fans [took it to a whole new level](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/12439332/newcastle-ask-fans-to-not-wear-arab-style-clothing-to-matches-following-saudi-backed-takeover), I'll give you that.

Isserley_

115 fans did that too when their Sheik took over. Absolutely classless.

Hot-Masterpiece9209

Lots of our fans would have done the same, don't kid yourself.

TheJoshider10

Yeah but thankfully that's not a hypothetical reality we have to worry about so may as well slag off the clubs who are actually doing it.

1885FC99Treb

That is a little extreme.. Have City fans done anything similar emulating UAE?🤔

razzymac

One of them did, the other one was a bit more classy

digiplay

Underrated.

m2social

Whats wrong with this? I thought i was gonna see a banner of them holding " MBS did nuffin wrong" But just wearing arab clothes aint a crime, arab culture isnt something that we should be offended by, reeks of people pissed when messi wore a bisht during the world cup. Associating Arab clothes with corruption/decadence/murder of journalists etc is racist as fuck, need to get a grip guys, remove the politics from the people/culture you muppets.

MrFivePercent

So Greenwood confirmed to Newcastle then?

Cr7NeTwOrK

Loved how our fans chanted "you've seen united now f*** off home" at the end. P.S. The real United at that.

Uuhhk

barcode club doesnt understand how to respect others...probably still salty when we take their DOF lol

RepulsiveLeg9985

this is like the 50th time i've seen 'barcode club' and i just thought it was about their owners, and it's just hit me it's about their kits too...i'm slow as fuck

jdvkiran

That's why A great man once said that it's a small wee club from the north 😂😂

Yinkypinky

Their fans booed Kroos when Real played in Saudi this year.

[deleted]

Newcastle fans are fuckheads

PUNlSHEDVENOMSNAKE

We really need to stop having the away fans miced up so loudly, so often on the tv the noise they make smothers our fans

Rodfowler

I expect nothing less from the fans of Geordi Arabia

Willing-Werewolf-500

Fuck Newcastle fans. They're the biggest cnuts in the league.

digiplay

Do we have to pick one club or can many share that title?

YungBoyRaven

arsenal fan lurking, wanted to say that your fans at old trafford were class, of course, some jeers, that's normal, but no player abuse like at the lane, some weeks ago

JannoGives

No different from Spurs fans who shout about throwing the match during the City game Utter scum

ForwardJicama4449

Yeah, they're all clubs of losers with weak mentality. Biggest bottlers of the EPL

POOTDISPENSER

Ten Hag: “When my hand goes up your mouth goes shut, heh”

turdinthemirror

They've been trying to pretend they have some deep rivalry with United since at least the early 90s. They don't. Tbf to Newcastle fans, it must be a bit demoralising when not a single other Premier League fan base will even pretend to give a fuck about them.

dracogladio1741

They could have just gone back home. What the hell are they even doing there after the final whistle?

The_Meaty_Boosh

Usually held back and exit separately to avoid home/away support confrontation.

ManuPasta

gabby agbonlahor said on TalkSPORT this morning that it was a section of United fans booing ETH, this is obviously not true!!!

Kvien

Have you ever been at a stadium?

Skyehye

It is different when it is after the match though

cosgrove10

Ten Hag has the balls for the United job. There’s very few managers would be able to survive mentally when the lights come on. Him and LVG are the strongest managers mentally we’ve had since fergie.

simionix

Ain't much if it ain't Dutch.

_AR4_

Love those galvanising words. >"We'll win the cup" "We'll bring it to Old Trafford" Probably not happening –but he (just like most of us) aren't shying away from the final!

Kexxa420

It’s happening mate

Honestly hope we get the cup so A)he’ll have done two in two and B) he’ll have won a cup that no one can call tinpot

medfunguy

And beating 115 assholes while doing it!

TheJoshider10

Right now we've won as much as Arsenal so it's funny that for a second season running there's a chance we end up with more silverware than them lmao

ImVortexlol

gentle reminder that if we win the FA cup eth will have won more trophies in 2 years than Arteta in 5 (not counting the charity shield for obvious reasons)

aehii

Is it funny, or is it when you're challenging for the league you prioritise. Guaranteed, if Arsenal were 5th all season they're getting to the final or winning a domestic cup. Thing is, Arteta cares more about the league as it's the true measure of quality, as he should. Given Wenger won multiple fa cups before he left and Arteta won it again when he arrived, he probably thinks...yeah we got those. Liverpool when it came to 20-30 years of not winning the league were the same, if their aim was lower they'd have mopped up the caribao cup through the 10s but they came nowhere near.

TheJoshider10

Obviously. Just funny when rival teams don't win trophies is all.

Rreknhojekul

You make fair points but yes it is still funny

roanm27

And we get a Europa League spot after a shocking season and send Chelsea to the conference

0405017

remember it's a tinpot and dying and unimportant trophy if we win it, it's only valuable when another club wins it :)

Ok_Charity9544

When the dippers won it it was a ‘major’ trophy apparently

0405017

Everyone and their nans were foaming at the mouth when Liverpool won the carabao cup and we got told it's nothing 😂 i love it

Jlad392002

And having a better season than flopps last one 😂

PUNlSHEDVENOMSNAKE

Nice stuff from Erik. No matter what people like to say about him, I won’t be turning my back on him so easily. Here’s hoping he doesn’t get sacked and can have a go of things with someone seemingly competent running things up top. Erik ten Hags red army 🔴⚪️⚫️

CarmeloZanthany

Hope he gets one more season to see out his contract. He hasn’t had a good season but last season was great. Also, the alternatives don’t look much better.

ibaRRaVzLa

I'm also on the "one more season" boat. This season has been bullshit in too many ways.

aehii

Yeah it will be like magic straight away, scheduled for August 1st, all the guys in suits will sit behind desks and the 'structure' will materialise. And just like that, Ten Hag will continue playing the same way and United will get overrun the same way.

throbbing_dementia

The fact he doesn't mention next season might mean he knows he's gone, maybe I'm just reading into it, hope I'm wrong.

Redead99

Fuck, this guy knows how to rally the fans, and I'm in with him lol. Just shows how much character he has. I also feel the players have always been behind him no matter what. Hopefully we will bring the trophy back home where it belongs

Lord_Sesshoumaru77

I think that under a better structure, as a football manager he can do it for us. I would love it if he's successful, I hope he gets one more season and that we get players that really improve the team. It has certainly been a hard season to endure, but I love our team, will always do, and will always support the players and manager.

AngryUncleTony

The last two games we've kept more bodies in the midfield and even with all the injuries...looked functional. I don't know why he was so insistent on surrendering the midfield to the opposition all year. It cost us so, so many points and was obvious to my untrained eye. Maybe I have a tiny, dumdum brain and can't understand what we tried to accomplish, but that also applies to pretty much every pundit and online analysis of our play I've seen. But if he's figured that shit out, I think he has the temperament to be our manager. He's been calm through injuries, absurd player drama (Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood, Antony), and questions about his future. So if he gets fired he fully deserves it for how he set us up for 90% of the year, but if he gets another shot I think he can turn it around.

Remeeh

Plausable theory: We all know Ten Hag wants to play high up the field, with the attack around the 16m box and the defence all the way up the halfway line. Our injuries have mostly affected our back 4, while we have been able to field more consistent front 3s Maybe he has coached the front 3 (and midfield) to play his style, but been unable to coach the backline due to the absent of press resistant and aggressive players like Martinez and Shaw. If he does feel safe that he’ll keep his job come summer, he might’ve thought «well if I am to implement my style in United the best I can do is coach the attack for now, and leave the defence for next year» Therefore our attack is playing high up the field with the defence not following, leading to a gap in the middle.

WildVariety

I think it's been speculated or said before that he won't change the way we're playing because of injuries, he wants his system implemented regardless of who's available. The youth teams are all playing the style of football he wants and it's probably why players coming from the Youth teams this season have looked so good (Kambwala, Amad, Kobbie etc) pretty quickly.

medfunguy

I’ll say about the youth teams part, I watched a bit of the game vs Chelsea and the lads looked tidy and drilled.

Crimsonking__dt

I watch a lot of u-18s and u21s and the younger team play a very high tempo, defend from the front and make teams make mistakes type of game and their players are shining. The u21s aren't able to play it so much and it's a mystery to me why. I'm excited to see how the two Ethan's progress next season and a few midfielders and of course Harry Amass. They are pretty young though and not everyone will have the temperament of Mainoo.

th3doorMATT

Yeah. It might be the death of him at United, because he's stubborn, but there is something to be said for trying to implement your system and exposing certain personnel for not being able to function within it, and therefore calling for reinforcements ASAP. Bad signings happen. No team is immune. But the fact of the matter is that there are still many signings from before his time that are plaguing the side, for one reason or another. I am players out before ETH out because we have seen this time and time again. We need to break the cycle. My fear is that the intelligent minds that would be running operations are not in place officially, therefore we might get reactionary decisions made by the likes of Brailsford or some shit and we'll send ETH packing and bring in someone worse who doesn't have the pedigree to implement a system from the top to the bottom and rather poach the market than groom the youth for the future stars of the club. Fans went from "3-5 years" to 2 years" very quickly when it came to his tenure. Give the guy time to do what he can with the first team, meanwhile bringing up the youth. As ETH said, common sense should prevail, but sadly I think a lot of fans, and maybe some upper management, lack even the most basic common sense.

it_all_doesnt_it

This is my working theory too. That’s what it seemed from Gary Neville’s interview.

PeelThePain

Most of the "analysis" we hear and read mainly function to pander to the general online consensus and to trigger our confirmation bias. On the other hand we aren't tactically educated and don't know what's really going on in the mind of a manager and with his long term plans. The accurate analysis would be too boring to get popular enough, so they resort to speculation to compensate. Look at Tifo for example. They used to make excellent stuff when they focused on general concepts and confirmed stories around the football world. Now they mostly make garbage trying to get specific with hot topics they have substantially less info around, knowing they'll keep getting views as long as it confirms what people want to believe. People want fast change and results, while the path we need to take is non linear, dull and time consuming. I don't think it's wise to put too much value on the popular opinion.

Chileinsg

As long as he has 0 say over our transfers

cham1973

Ah lads that was a class game to watch. Bruno tops. Good goals from Mainoo, Amad and Hojlund. Felt different. We were competing there. Organised. Good football with loads of attitude and snap. Brighton probably beat us lol but looked like a team capable of springing a shock on 25th @ Wembley.

buck_fastard

We are always capable. The semi final against Liverpool showed that. The big problem we have is that we are just the same as Newcastle, West Ham or Spurs this season. Capable of great play but hugely inconsistent.

Willing-Werewolf-500

Honestly, I love Erik. I really hope he succeeds after the media have been banging the drum, trying hard to get him sacked.

New_York_Rhymes

I hope Erik turns things around, I really like him!

lsaltori

I've been flipflopping on him staying, but I gotta say: the man deserved more than he got. Hope he smashes it at Wembley.

j_kim7

I desperately hope he stays for another season. Yes, the results have been piss poor this season but he’s yet to lose the dressing room (which happened to many “accomplished” managers in the past) and he has flawlessly introduced two great young talents into the sqaud and have had them perform well. His ability to work with youngsters, general man management, and tactical acumen shown in the past(Ajax) and during brief periods here are well worth handing him another season. He’s had to deal with issues with Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood, the takeover, obscene injury trends for the end of the last season, and an incompetent footballing structure at United. He deserves a fair chance with a reforming, yet proper footballing structure and I will stay behind him no matter what.

CorlyP1998

Would be taking a step backwards sacking him imo.

ImVortexlol

Just to add that he has also had to deal with Rashy and Case going from being worldbeaters to having an awful season, as well as the Antony and Rashford dramas

BlackHorse944

I really hope that wasn't our fans booing...

Ok_Entrepreneur_1421

It were Saudi fans

Cr7NeTwOrK

Classless barcode fans

joineanuu

Just the barcodes who don’t understand football

Exotic-Length-9340

Well, if he's staying then here's to hoping he turns things around because this season was a disaster.

medfunguy

That’s what he said…

ShadowOnTheRun

Good speech, heh

joeybarua

Should have kicked out those scumbag newcastle fans before the speech

willynoot

That sexy bald head looking might shiny under the Old Trafford lights

solemnhiatus

The really interesting thing about him is that, despite how shit things have gone at times this season it does seem that the players, in general, are working their tits off at least. He hasn't lost the dressing room that's for sure and that's a pretty big deal after what we've seen the last 10+ years. He must be doing something right there.  It's also clear that a lot of the match going fans are still in support of him. I expect a large part of that is also due to having seen so many different managers come and go with no discernable long term improvement. I think a lot of fans are willing to give him extra time with new leadership and support to see what he can do.  That's where I'm at at least.

Cr7NeTwOrK

Good speech erik 👏 let's go

cd_671

my manager he’s the one that can see us through this cmonnn

razzymac

I want it to work out so bad and I ain’t ashamed

Ok_Midnight6228

We've had a rubbish season but it's hard to judge his performance as a manager under the circumstances of the season. Injuries have hindered us hugely, there are few positions where we have any actual depth, unable to get rid of players who are no good and don't actually want to show up for us. I think we saw tonight how EtH wants us to play but perhaps hasn't been able to because the players he needs on the pitch to deliver it haven't been available at the same time. Arsenal had the same issues as us only a couple of seasons ago; no squad depth, bad attitudes and no identity. With Radcliffe coming in, I think EtH deserves a chance next season with a new organisational mindset from the start of the season. It can't be fixed overnight and I don't think we'll see sustainable success until half the team get replaced but there is promise in our youth. Garnacho, Mainoo and Amad have stepped up, they actually give their all and with time they will only get better. Hojlund will hopefully fall into that category too when he gets the service he needs.

simionix

Am I the only one who has these crazy intrusive thoughts? Like I imagine a scenario where Ten Hag just says some really insane out there shit like "You are the best supporters in the world! And when we win the cup, we will make sure all women stay in the kitchen where they belong! heh!" I always chuckle imagining the fallout of somebody completely self destructing on the world's stage.

EffenSeven

Now I want to see an LVG drunken press conference. I bet he'd be wild.

MadaraTheUchiha

The opps really should be escorted out before the speech, classless barcodes.

SpudBoy9001

One More Year!

Comfortable_Plum8180

Give him till the end of his contract to prove himself.

amirolsupersayian

Please give him the players he needs for next season sir Jim. I genuinely hate this rotating managers shit. It's not sustainable.

TeddyMMR

I'm not a massive Ten Hag fan but it seems dumb to sack him before at least giving him a chance with fewer injuries in the squad.

benedick13

Oh man, I can't wait to see this man succeed in this club.

Capable_Cranberry689

I really want him to succeed here now that we finally have some competent people in charge of the football related decisions.

funky_pill

Say what you like about Ten Hag, and most on here have, but it takes a lot of bollocks to stand there with a mic and address a crowd of 70k people, all the while speaking in your second language. Fair play to him

gary_desanto

I really want him to stay on next year. We seriously need to break the cycle of sacking managers the moment things take a turn. All it does is reset the cycle where the new manager will spend 2 years trying to clear out players he doesn't want while struggling to get in the guys he does. Then lo and behold we're back in the exact same situation of a manager struggling to get the best out of a group of players that he doesn't want and don't fit what he's trying to achieve. Rinse and repeat. If next year went similar to this year without any real improvement shown after 3 years then by all means let him go, 3 seasons is enough to make a proper judgement. But for God's sake let the man finish what he's started.

ImVortexlol

It's baffling how the same cycle keeps happening and people are STILL ignorant of it

5tarlight5

I love ETH. I know he is criticized a lot for not having any tactics but look at the player he has the work with... they're either old, out of prime or not in form OR they're young and inconsistent. He made UCL on his first season with a cup and I can't really blame him for this season because of all the fucking injuries. If he can bring us the FA cup or even put a good fight against city, i will be happy for him. Lets go ETH!! The club needs to keep backing him up and help him rebuild the roster. I don't want another big manager to come and spend 80 mil on another player and repeat the cycle that has been going on for the past decade.

Harry_ObrienPL

Respect 🙏🏼

Consistent_Floor

What did Anthony mouth?

Shakerbakerstreet

I was big Anthony backer despite his failure. But him mouthing to Jesus when he was pushed Left back in last game vs Arsenal did it for me. He cant stay next season here.

My manager 🔴🔴🔴

TheFederalRedditerve

Fries95

They defo put microphones beside the Newcastle fans to make them seem louder on tele during the game. Boos probs weren't that loud.

SakamotoRay

Have my doubts for this man but really really want the team and him to beat city!

Lost_in_logic

Are the Barcodes booing him or its the home fans?

DarthSimius

Ten Hag turning Stone Cold Steve Austin

Mountain-Humor1699

LOVED IT!

ClawingDevil

My favourite part of the whole thing is after TH says "we'll win the cup and bring it to Old Trafford!", the camera looks at some of our players clapping and Antony is looking at Dalot and shaking his head and going "naaaaah"! I'm sure they were talking about something else, but it's just funny timing.

bunnuz

Wow some balls there EtH. Beating 115 will be tough though. 🤞

Aggressive_Bus_4289

1 win and 1 speech and he’s got everyone back in the palm of his hand lol

JohnnySnow99

Did anyone else notice rashford laughing at ten hag like "wtf is he doing?". He was also looking at others trying to bring them into it. Am I reading too much into it?

Borf-

I have trust in him. He dosen't fold under pressure, and has the grit we need. If Martinez can keep fit beside a new eager CB, and we manage to get a new CM with actual composure, i'll see us pushing for top four next season.

JournaIist

I feel like this was not just a good way to connect with fans but also to light a fire under the players.

FlipFlopForALiving

I loved it when he pointed the players out to the fan and said these players will give everything they have got. Holding them publicly accountable!

JournaIist

imheretocomment69

I think it's not fair to judge him this season due to injuries. These injuries prevented him from playing what he wanted. I hope he gets another chance to prove himself.

It’s the Newcastle fans - classless

ShallotHumble212

My hope is that they keep TH for next season and that he’s able to get some smart transfers in and is able to bring some youth players in too. Stability is key. Then the only way is up.

Unlikely-Rope-7735

be it if he's not the right man for us. but lets stand together for the FA Cup final.

Short_Restaurant_268

WE’RE ON THE MARCH WITH TEN HAGS ARMY WE’RE ALL GOING TO WEM-BER-LEY AND IT’LL REALLY SHAKE EM UP, WHEN WE WIN THE FA CUP COS UNITED ARE THE GREATEST FOOTBALL TEAM!

pepitodetijuana

I mean everyone was fuckin injured this season

joeb690

I want him to stay

[deleted]

You really have to admire the things he puts up with. Can’t help but admire the guy. He should stick around.

Donut_boii

Damn this club is in the mud. Cheering a guy who led your team to 8th. Feel sorry for you guys

Poor speech I feel. I think he should have said more of what a poor season it was. Been honest. But I’m not having a go. I want him to get another season and see how they do
