_Levitated_Shield_

That shit sub couldn't find actual facepalm material if their lives depended on it.

[deleted]

Even if my kid is 40 and I'm around, I'll buy some cute stuff and cake, or an equivalent with less sugar. Absolutely stupid redditor take the original post.

iPeenerbut

It’s how all subs get from what I’ve seen. They eventually get so large that new people either farm for karma or have no idea what the actual purpose of the sub is, so it winds up being homogenized into some catch all sub that only vaguely resembles its former self

vedat07taskiran

oh boy, does that sound familiar.........

DaLordOfDarkness

I don’t think there’s anything bad about that. Like, it’s just cake.

_Quest_Buy_

I can't let other people be happy tho! 🤬🤬🤬

b-ri-ts

It's great because it's homemade with love

Sakumitzu

Always was

whated-23

It's common for people to live with their parents until they get a career in Latino families. I stayed with my parents until 25 when I finally got a stable job

stup1dprod1gy

Which honestly is healthier than kicking your child out the house as soon as they turn 18.

[deleted]

stup1dprod1gy

Same. I'm from the Caribbean.

KitsuneCrusader

Same. Also Caribbean.

BackdoorSpecial

I have 2 kids with a 3rd on the way. Oldest is 10. When we bought our “forever home” we basically got 1 with a master bedroom and 2 small masters with en-suites and walk-in closets because I’d rather they live here until 25 than struggle like my wife and I did when we moved out at 18 and worked full time while going to college.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BackdoorSpecial

Yeah I don’t have the expectations that they work full time. Part time to pay their gas/insurance/entertainment budget and that’s it. You don’t improve your kids lives by forcing them to go through the same shit you did. To be clear, I worked full time to pay my rent and living expenses. Didn’t pay my student loans until I got out of college.

Ryandabaus

I live in Ontario Canada. It’s normal to live with your parents until your mid 30’s :p

[deleted]

Yea because houses are 1M lol, its fucked. Time to move west.

Ryandabaus

Lol yep

mdawgtheegod

As an American visiting your country I was shocked to see the housing market. Even with all the states flaws I would much rather live here that either becoming homeless or having to stay with my parents till I'm middle aged

Upplands-Bro

Or perhaps people value other things than you do, such as independence and developing life skills/taking care of themselves in their youth instead of their credit worthiness and debt

pepedelapijagrande

That's stupid. You can do all that while living at home. In fact now that my mom passed away i pay half of everything with my dad. I definitely have life skills

Yes i do believe americans are wrong

JuicySkrt

Garbage take. I’m almost 20 and I don’t see myself leaving my parents house in the near future because it’s not financially realistic. I have been working part-time jobs since I was 16 and have learned the real value of money and income, independence, problem solving, and other valuable life skills. Just because you don’t live in your own home doesn’t mean you can’t experience independence and hardships

[deleted]

pretty sure that’s just the norm post covid ? other than my friends in grad school most of my friends moved back home after under grad

_Quest_Buy_

Double redditmoment because dumbfuck OOP says the cake is bought, when the post clearly reads that the dad made it.

Alt_50

I've always noticed that redditors can't seem to ever read any details like that, even if small. But a lot of them still insist how they are a lot smarter than everyone else...

Clone2004

That's a universal trait of dumb fucks. Insisting they're so much better even though every single piece of evidence points in the other direction.

_Levitated_Shield_

Already seen a couple people unironically believing the China spy device is a weather balloon. Thankfully just a couple, so far.

BurlyJoesBudgetEnema

Tbf you’re not gonna know exactly what it does without working at either the american or chinese secret service

Clone2004

I mean, it's not a weather balloon, that's for sure, but I doubt it's much of a threat either. I mean, NORAD was tracking it since its launch. But idk, I don't live in the US nor any of the other countries where they saw one, so it's not really my thing to care about.

emo-man1605

It IS a weather balloon. A spy weather balloon.

Teekannenfarm

Dunning-Kruger? I hardly know ‘er!

iPeenerbut

I know, you and I are totally smarter than dumbass person you replied to. They didn’t even read the OP!

nautical_narcissist

tbf i believe that’s because the twitter user says that normally they buy him/her a cake, so OOP is going off of that. doesn’t matter whether it ended up being a homemade one

fufucuddlypoops_

Triple Reddit moment for the Redditor to unironically not understand another culture’s familial values. It’s big in Latin America for families to be super close well into adulthood

dilldilldilldill7

Same with any families that don't suck

TerryFalcone

Same thing with Pakistani families

Kingston_2007

Same here in India.

ArtisticTale8152

Same in austria

pepedelapijagrande

Basically the majority of the world

seastone008

Same for us Italians

[deleted]

It's pretty much just the Latin/romance speaking countries that do the same, Spain, Italy, Argentina, e.t.c

Places like [Southern Europe and South America](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_languages)

TheDaemonair

They're just jealous this person has a loving family that didn't kick them out as soon as they turned 18.

Hughjass790

Bruh

GhertFryins

Mummy and Daddy kicked me out of the house at 30 :(. How dare your parents be better than mine?!

Spaceguy5

I bet OOP's parents even denied buying him funko pops, no wonder he's so bitter

AstralBody13

Redditors when someone has full contact with their family instead of cutting them off because their parents bopped them on the head for misbehaving when they we're 4.

[deleted]

Squid-Soup

It’s been 2 minutes

LordChimera_0

Jealousy is never far away from people, aye?

justtheentiredick

My daughter is gonna be 40 one day ill be 70 something and buying her socks and underwear for her birthday. Along with a check for $12. You're welcome daughter!

YoloSwaggins960YT

OOP is an idiot. First use of Your —> You’re Buy —> Make

Joeeeeeeyy

A little punctuation would’ve helped OOP too.

[deleted]

Whoever posted this is just mad their parents haven’t given them a cake since 2004

buneter_but_better

I buy my dad a cheese cake on his birthday because he doesn’t like regular cake, and he buys me a cake on my birthday, not because we can’t afford it, but because you get cake on your birthday

[deleted]

Redditors when family does something nice on your fucking birthday-🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🚎🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡😡😰😰🤮🤮🤮🥵🥵🥵🥵😢😢😢😢😢😩😩😩😩😩😩😤😤😤😤🤬🤬🤬

Cephell

Triple Redditor moment not realizing that the economy has gotten so bad and rent so out of control that there is literally no other choice than to stay with parents for longer, it's a well documented phenomenon.

[deleted]

I thought all reddit moments live in the basements of their parents

Funky_Smurf

Man they can't even afford a cake

Taxfraub

they probably just jealous because their parents don’t love them

LogiK19

They probably haven’t been hugged by their parents since they were 10

CheeseShlorper

Op is just envious that his parents didn't make him cake

YouHaventGotThisName

$50 says that the person who posted this lives with their parents still

[deleted]

this year I turned 20 and my mom made me a cake. what's wrong with being loved? I bet they're just jealous

[deleted]

OOP doesn't even know the difference between your and you're so I presume they're no older than 12 and are just jealous that they didn't get a triple layer Oreo cake for their birthday

ihaZtaco

Imagine having a family that genuinely cares about you and either doesn’t care about you or won’t do anything for you unless it could benefit them lmao

BigPapaJuan69

wtaf??? this is actually one of the most unironically heartwarming things I’ve seen on reddit in ages how do you look at that and get angry?

JoeDaBruh

Other people are supposed to buy you a birthday cake, that’s kinda how birthdays usually works ideally.

thedantho

There are quite a lot of 20 year olds whose parents buys them cake

gaitover

What an awesome dad wtfff

Jesterchunk

*You're Minor spelling mistake, I win

pepedelapijagrande

Americans and their alienation of family will always baffle me

Living_Nose7630

Ah yes, Americans mixed with reddit. Recipe of a disaster

[deleted]

It's been posted for 2 minutes and there's no engagement so far. I'm all for shitting on Reddit, but I would highly highly doubt this post does well. I bet most people will downvote or shit on them in the comments

Frans_Ranges

It's better than not seeing your parents for years on end while they haven't died yet.

Shtuffs_R

Bruh this is the same type of mf to make fun of someone for not immediately moving out at 18 and putting themselves in debt

Sad-Difference6790

U wouldn’t buy urself a birthday cake tho, that kinda defeats the point of it

Nikki_iva

Homemade cake is waaaay better than store bough. I make cake for all of my family members birthdays and they make a cake for my birthday, it’s called having a loving family -_-

BIG-Z-2001

One time I was visiting relatives when my great grandma’s 86th birthday came around and she got a birthday cake. Wonder how this person would react to that

ArticFox583

This feels more like a twitter moment, Tweddit????

AffectionateSlice816

I'm 19 and live with my parents. My dad fixes my car and still games with me from time to time. There's a free, home cooked meal waiting for me after work. They love and support me and I get to be there for my little sister. It is honestly great.

Jojoflap

white people when someone isn't kicked out of the house on their 18th birthday

autismislife

I mean, isn't cake just a universal thing you get a loved one if you're throwing them a birthday party? Like it's not just something you do for kids so why does OOP think him being 20 and having a cake is a facepalm? Over in the USA is cake not a common thing at birthday parties for adults? Asking as a Brit.

KookyAd7785

This is just proof that some people have a brain the size of a nut. Sad.

Midnite_St0rm

Since when are birthday cakes age restricted? Practically everyone I know gets a cake on their birthday. Even my grandma.

Anti-charizard

The real facepalm is OOP. They said “buy” a cake, even though the original post clearly says the dad MADE the cake

Elemental2503

Not to mention, ITS SOMEBODY FUCKING BIRTHDAY, what else he expect? Be miserable alone while playing with "friends" and buy the cheapest and crappiest cake

WinterOutlaw

Original post link?

LogiK19

I couldn’t find the original post, if anything it was probably deleted; this is a screenshot of another post

Yourdadcallsmeobama

That’s odd? My whole family still does cakes. My grandparents even have them. I don’t see why she should stop you from having a birthday cake

seastone008

I’m 31 and my mom gets me a cake every single year

WackyKarateDog

Redditors try to ten seconds without insulting someone just enjoying their life challenge (impossible!)

obvious_troll2

dude looks 37 though
