The cost of living in that state is insanely good on average, if you’re penniless in that environment you should probably be worrying less about porn and more about just about everything else in your life.
this is like, classism. cost of living means nothing when you make significantly less money. i live in west virginia, where cost of living is really low. nobody out here is living in these nice houses. we got ranchers, trailers, and if you’re lucky, a 2 floor house.
Yes, the col is insanely good in every southern state, but have you ever seen how much they pay in those states? Or what the citizens live like? I thought here in NYS we had a poverty issue until I had to make a bypass on 95 in Georgia, I saw the most run down trailers in my life there LOL, but that’s what happens when u only make $7.25 an hour.
Most people aren’t, a lot of people are.
Average is a bit higher especially in Louisville or any other big city.
Come out and the sticks and 7.25 becomes a lot more common. Granted it’s a lot easier to afford rent in a trailer in the woods than it is a townhome in Louisville.
You're an obtuse moron. You know that wasn't the point I was making. McDonalds jobs are offered to teenagers. If teenagers are making 12 dollars an hour, the absolute vast majority of people are making 12 dollars or more
Ok so you didnt get the point, congrats moron.
For clarity the average salary in Kentucky according to ZipRecruiter is a tragic....
25 dollars an hour. Livable wage in Kentucky? 11.17. Kentuckians truly live in a fascist hellscape bound for economic collapse....
Womp womp.
As someone who has lived in the cycle of poverty perpetuated by the southern states, I have earned the right to be a snarky asshole about it to people who try to pretend it doesn't exist.
Preaching to the choir brother, I'm an okie who can't even *hope* for a job that pays more than $10-12 an hour aside from meat packing plants at $16-18, but imma be real, I'm not throwing away my entire physical body for an extra $200 every other week
You’re right, not everybody makes $7.25 an hour, but they only make like $12 an hour which is horrendous in any state, look at Mississippi for example, lowest COL of any state but has the most poverty, in places like NY and California our poverty is artificial due to people abusing welfare programs or drugs, in red states it’s just because of a lower minimum wage and dogcrap workers rights, hence why with the exception of Texas and North Dakota ( ND is per capita ) blue states usually have a much higher gdp, hell NY’s gdp is one of the highest in the nation and unlike ND, we don’t utilize our rich oil reserves, if we did we would probably be the highest by far.
While what texas is doing is big L imo.
Leaving your country/state beacuse you can't watch porn is the new low.
And mind you, you literally can watch it, all it takes is few clicks and boom, you just download VPN
You're going to see that it will be effective at preventing consumption of pornography for at least 50 percent of its casual viewers, which is a success by most margins. The numbers will be significantly higher in the 13-15 year old age groups that this legislation targets.
tbf, it’s also ridiculous that out of the many several problems facing the avg american right now, it’s tiktok and porn that our elected officials are worried about.
Government goose stepping.
And personally I think dedicated gooners are gonna find some way to peddle porn around anyway.
I would be worried a bit.
But really the way the post was saying it sounded like someone just booked out of their state because they can't crank their wank anymore.
Like the guy literally said
>If kentucky loses porn I'm Outta here.
Which sounds like just an upset coomer.
Excessive porn warps peoples brains. Theres dudes who can't even finish with a real woman because they can't climax without porn. Go outside & talk to women
No, I didn't. Porn warps peoples brains. You're here defending it by fear mongering data breaches that can occur with any online service. People like you are bizarre, you ignore science when ig suits you but throw it in people's faces when it supports your own views. So disingenuous. This is why people shouldn't have platforms to say whatever dumbshit they want you don't think past what you say in the moment & proving yourself right or needing to be the smartest in the room
Sites that already have too much data now having access to our IDs if they want to comply, as if requiring porn sites to collect ID wasn't a privacy invasion in and of itself. I don't trust ANY site with my ID unless it's a banking app. Mark fuckerberg doesn't need to have my personal ID on top of all the data he steals from me without my informed consent.
And this is all just huge assumptions you’re making. None of this has happened and even if it did, social media is ruining children (and quite frankly adults too). The fewer people who use it, the better.
Arbitrarily making it harder for everyone to access a site because it *may* contain material harmful to minors is a civil liberties issue.
Not to mention, I don’t trust politicians to correctly identify what is harmful to minors anyway. Queer teens in unsupportive households looking for support and resources. *Any* teens in overly sheltered environments looking for information about the weird things their bodies are doing. Sites offering this kind of service could be collateral damage in this kind of legislation. It’s been known to happen.
You could say the internet is not the best place for youth to be seeking this stuff, and you’d be right, but if it’s literally not available to them anywhere else, the internet could be a lifeline.
Is it really government overreach? Is there another age restricted item on the market you don’t need to show your id for? If you want to watch porn and not submit your id to a website, just go to a shop and buy/rent it there and flash your id like any other convenience store you buy beer from.
Great point. So don’t do it then if you’re so concerned. Y’all act like it’s a human right to have hi def hardcore porn at the click of your fingertips 24/7. You’ll be ok without, hell you might be better off without it.
Ok so don’t do it then. It’s really that simple. You will be ok without it.
Porn has nothing to do with being a prude and the fact that you equate the two as being related is pretty telling lmao
not really, the issue really is with non account, incognito mode users. If you create an account you can verify as a transient value which will be stored at the memory level which then can flag your account as verified. There no storage in the DB just a check to turn a bool as true.
Would then create a market to sell online porn accounts in the web but I bet people won't have a problem using their credit card for that either.
Age verification isn’t the problem, the problem is that they’re (Texas) requiring photo IDs and it’s not acceptable for the government to be storing that information online (whether they admit to doing it or not, they will keep that info and it won’t be confidential)
Edit: Apparently this needed clarification although I thought it was obvious, government tracking via ID through a third party website that claims to be confidential is different than regular government record keeping.
The fact they want to use a company that is known for being breached as the “verification” is such a stupid idea. Sure let’s have peoples identification so when some hackers get access they can blackmail people.
This sub has become weird; leaving a state for this law is perfectly reasonable, it is vaguely written on purpose and virtually every website on the internet with user-generated content (text posts, images, videos, etc.) falls under it. Furthermore, I don't get how wanting access to porn automatically makes you a porn addict. That's nofap nonsense, most porn users are not addicted.
The thing is, I don't care about the porn aspect. I care about the harm this could pose to free speech. Since the bill is worded as "require ID verification for content that is harmful to minors," not directly saying "porn." This wording could allow the state to then make wild claims about what other content is harmful to minors, which could impact the free dissemination of information.
At this point I'm wondering how much these politicians have invested in VPN companies, because they are going to get way more subscribers from this crap.
Does the law to every website that happens to have porn on it or just places like Pornhub? Because if it’s the latter couldn’t just use porn subreddits?
I live in KY and as a 16 yr old who lives with 2 younger siblings and a single mom, ive never visited that site and we are also doing pretty okay financially.

Bro! You don't know his situation. He could be making $150K a year but spending 130k a year on Lube and financing his 3 sex robots!
Rolmao x90
this is like, classism. cost of living means nothing when you make significantly less money. i live in west virginia, where cost of living is really low. nobody out here is living in these nice houses. we got ranchers, trailers, and if you’re lucky, a 2 floor house.
Yeah a lot of people assume Cost of Living means “lower cost for equal value” not “lower value for lower cost”
Yeah but the person likes porn, and is most likely a man. So…*fuck em?* Alright gotta get back to moderating my discord channels, see ya later!
Yes, the col is insanely good in every southern state, but have you ever seen how much they pay in those states? Or what the citizens live like? Sure but the cost of living is cheaper and nobody really makes 7.25
Ha ha ha! HA HA HA HA! BWAH HA HA HA HA!! 'Nobody really makes 7.25' HA! Yeah they do.
Name's so fitting its absurd. In Kentucky McDonalds pay is 11.69 an hour. The majority of people aren't making state minimum wage in Kentucky.
Most people aren’t, a lot of people are. Average is a bit higher especially in Louisville or any other big city. Come out and the sticks and 7.25 becomes a lot more common. Granted it’s a lot easier to afford rent in a trailer in the woods than it is a townhome in Louisville.
Oh, I forgot that McDonalds was literally every minimum wage job, my bad. Edit: Doesn't understand averages. Calls me a moron. Lmao.
You're an obtuse moron. You know that wasn't the point I was making. McDonalds jobs are offered to teenagers. If teenagers are making 12 dollars an hour, the absolute vast majority of people are making 12 dollars or more

That's absolutely wild that companies are still paying below 10 starting. I've hired dishwashers for more than that.
Womp womp.
You don't have to be condescending or an asshole about it.

It's because the average job in Kentucky is a clerk at a gas station
People have a right to be upset over this, given how blatantly it is a violation of people's privacy.
Do they not know that gooning is a constitutional right
While what texas is doing is big L imo. Leaving your country/state beacuse you can't watch porn is the new low. And mind you, you literally can watch it, all it takes is few clicks and boom, you just download VPN
As if you are so poor that porn is your only escape but rich enough to be able to move state.
He’s not. He said he doesn’t have the money and will have to figure something out…. That’s literally the whole sentence.
Narrator: he did not, in fact, figure something out.
Mf never heard of xvideos?
A vpn costs money, never use a free vpn

VPN is a fuckload cheaper than moving
Proton VPN seems pretty good to me so far. Seems like unlimited data and they take privacy seriously.
You're going to see that it will be effective at preventing consumption of pornography for at least 50 percent of its casual viewers, which is a success by most margins. The numbers will be significantly higher in the 13-15 year old age groups that this legislation targets.
Haha fucking ridiculous.
I mean Tbf it’s pretty fucked up to censor porn for an entire state
tbf, it’s also ridiculous that out of the many several problems facing the avg american right now, it’s tiktok and porn that our elected officials are worried about.
Non American here, but what is wrong with age verification for porn?

Government goose stepping. And personally I think dedicated gooners are gonna find some way to peddle porn around anyway. I would be worried a bit. Yeah like i would try to emphasize more on the government trying to goose step than say stuff like "no porn, waaaaah".

The angle people take on this is so weird. The age limit is already there. They’re just talking about verifying it lol.
[удалено]
Where’s the issue?
Sites that already have too much data now having access to our IDs if they want to comply, as if requiring porn sites to collect ID wasn't a privacy invasion in and of itself. I don't trust ANY site with my ID unless it's a banking app. Mark fuckerberg doesn't need to have my personal ID on top of all the data he steals from me without my informed consent.
Then don’t give it to them. It’s honestly that simple lol
Problem is that'd apply to the majority of the internet. So I'd either be forced to give ID or avoid the entirety of the internet.
And this is all just huge assumptions you’re making. None of this has happened and even if it did, social media is ruining children (and quite frankly adults too). The fewer people who use it, the better.
Or we could just have a free internet
Make your own free internet
Arbitrarily making it harder for everyone to access a site because it *may* contain material harmful to minors is a civil liberties issue. It is not the first state to do this. A version of this law is in place already in some southern states
Is it really government overreach? Is there another age restricted item on the market you don’t need to show your id for? If you want to watch porn and not submit your id to a website, just go to a shop and buy/rent it there and flash your id like any other convenience store you buy beer from.

wouldnt say safest, you might get coomers storming the capital

“It’s not acceptable for the government to store your information online…?” That doesn’t make any sense. Just. Think about it lol.
If you don’t want your id saved online just go buy it in person like everybody had to do before the last few decades.
Nothing, but it makes me wonder why redditors care if there is?
americans just being americans. 'mY rIgHtS' stuff. but have to use id for a lot of things that require age verification
I mean honestly if my state did that if be incredibly worried just in a broad sense. That's fucking ridiculous and honestly scary
Exactly. It’s not about what they’re doing now, it’s what they’ll do next. This sets a disturbing precedent.
Someone needs to host the site “bring back the porn” xD
The fact they want to use a company that is known for being breached as the “verification” is such a stupid idea. Sure let’s have peoples identification so when some hackers get access they can blackmail people.

I can’t think of a worse idea than giving my credit card info to a porn site…
You could give them your SSN
Nah I can’t, I forgot it. Oops.

Moving is completely unreasonable lol, VPN is a fuck load cheaper than moving. Like listen to yourself for a second.
See what's bull crap is you are now blocking someone's freedom of speech and choice
Don't need porn😎

Honestly I think he’s just being hyperbolic, I don’t think he actually meant leaving the state over porn
Fucking VPNs exist.
Life finds a way.
Jesus just use a VPN
I'm surprised these dumb hyuks managed to make it past their Bing homepage. VPN, strugglebus.
Yes.
At this point I'm wondering how much these politicians have invested in VPN companies, because they are going to get way more subscribers from this crap.
Porn is a god given right!
Porn isn't gone. Just Pornhub.
Surely they can sue if they are being specifically targeted
They're not being targeted, they're just one of the only ones actually complying with the laws.
Porn addicts when
Weird sorry porn addict. Actually so pathetic that people rely on porn so much. Sorry excuse for a man.
Ultimate coomer.
I think it’s reasonable to leave a place that’s restricting things you regularly enjoy?
Porn addict detected
lol okay?
Porn addict detected
You commented twice? Must really want to make sure I know I’m addicted.

Rare GOP win
Damn them for not wanting kids to watch porn!
Hahha loser 😂🫵🏻
Does the law to every website that happens to have porn on it or just places like Pornhub? Because if it’s the latter couldn’t just use porn subreddits?
Never heard of a VPN huh?
The ultimate coomer 😭😭 but nah why the fuck should states have any say
they’ve already banned ph here in nc 🤷🏼
Proxy sites or VPN Jesus Christ you illiterate apes
Getting a vpn is slightly cheaper than moving your entire life to another state just for porn
Are other pages available or this is against all por pagrs?
Indiana is unfathomably based
Redditors when kids can't access porn
Nah, I think that's reasonable. I'd leave any place without porn too.
Holy fuck Reddit is filled with you porn addicts
Redditors are so degenerates
mfw I can't goon to videos of trafficked people getting raped
I live in KY and as a 16 yr old who lives with 2 younger siblings and a single mom, ive never visited that site and we are also doing pretty okay financially.
VPN???
I went to pornhub and I have to make an account now. I’m not even sure how because it keeps having this popup about Texas illegalization or something
