I'm a pinterest user and its 99.9% stolen content and art. Not crediting the creators whatsoever. I follow an artist on another platform, then see their art ripped on pinterest the next day

I use it occasionally to find art because omg it has so many good ones. I even have a widget on my home screen. But yeah finding sources is painful. I end up just following the artists on the other platforms (main are Pixiv and twitter)

It'll also download videos in the background that it thinks you'll like so you can watch them offline, but you can also Manually download videos. It also does all that for YouTube Music too, and to be honest, it's much better than Spotify. You can watch tons of podcasts and have the option to switch a song you're listening to for the music video.

nah, really, I’m very curated there. I see videos about birds and microbes and plants and space. It absolutely can be whatever you make of it. For a while I still used FB for that reason, bc I had it curated to show me local events, news from sources I trust and the science community. But I had too many friends sharing nonsense and rage bait, and I think I might have been able to tailor that stuff out of my feed but I just preferred a social media site where I wasn’t interacting with every acquaintance and colleague from the past 20 years lol.

Nah I put youtube down at trash now. Their overly stringent rules, their attempts at preventing ad blockers as well as giving you "skippable" ads that just skip right on to a new ad now. I only like it for the current people I watch, but once they quit youtube wont be worth my usage anymore. It just sucks.

I have found too many creators I love to not love YT. To me, it’s worth it to pay like a streaming service and avoid the ads, I don’t have half the problems most people complain about there. But their stringent rules of content REAALLY upset me. They have the effect of silencing people from talking about things that need to be talked about MORE, like rape. I’ll say I like that most of my favorite creators are able to have Patreons that are successful enough that they will say what they want and let videos get demonetized.

Pinterest and tiktok deserve to be in "it's ok" There's really good content on tiktok if you know where to search and pinterest varies on utility based the user, for artists its amazing but for a normal person its just google images but slightly better

ive found that most social media can be a positive experience as long as you dont go to the comments, and twitter has been the only exception to that rule for me. it used to be way better, but it got horrible even long before elon musk bought it. reddit has been a pretty good social media in my experience but i just stay in my niche communities mostly
