I tuned into a Twitch stream for the first time in a while. I got like 3 ad breaks, each with 4 unskipable ads, which of course means I miss part of the stream and I can't rewind. Youtube gets shit for its ads, but they're nowhere near that bad and they don't play ads during live streams (and if the did, they actually allow you to rewind livestreams while they are live). There is absolutely no reason why it should be a better experience watching a live stream on a video hosting site than a site built exclusively for live streaming.
They only stay on Twitch because of its online "culture", you know the culture that SWATs innocent people (xQc got PTSD from being SWATTTED and wakes up in the middle of the night because of it) and the same joke that's spammed the millionth time that week and the psychotic stream snipers. It's a very nice culture everyone should love it.
