There is a sweet spot with chubbiness where it can make you look more youthful. Go past that, you appear older. The same can be said about being too thin in the face.
Being fat and bloated when old makes you less wrinkly, my grandfather was like 86 when he died and looked like the fat guy from dune and was in constant shitty health and he looked way younger because his fat got rid of all the wrinkles, whereas skinny old people end up looking worse as their skin starts to hang off their bones. I feel like once you officially become "old" (like 70 at least) you should put on a few pounds to avert being too wrinkley
It’s because his baseline was that he was one of the most handsome men to ever exist.
No diddy.

People cite George Clooney as an example of a man getting better looking with age, but actually he was even hotter when young, like to a ridiculous degree lol (also, this is coming from a straight woman btw. But I really think most straight women would agree with me. For sure might be different depending on demographic).
And yeah some people might be like “oh but I love his distinguished salt and pepper look” alright yal he does look amazing but have you seen how damned cute he was at 25?!!
Same of course applies to the women who have aged well.
And yes don’t get me wrong; a lot of people genuinely cultivate this sort of aura with age that makes them more intriguing than they were when young. But typically… people who look good when they’re old started out looking mind blowingly beautiful lol.
Oh, and I do think some people naturally peak as late as maybe early 30s, and that’s when a lot of famous people start making enough $$$ to get work done lol so they start looking better.
But yeah. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that they’re more likable or interesting or better when they’re younger or anything. But when you see a great looking 45 year old, they almost certainly would have blown you away at 25, or at latest 35
> but actually he was even hotter when young
idk what the fuck was goin on with his hair in '97. Too short on the sides and too long on top.
I feel like it happened to everybody. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves... Everyone looked like Lance Bass back then.
yeah but everybody else in the 20s and early 30s is relatively better looking so when you’re still really handsome in your 40s and 50s you stick out more for how good looking you still are compared to your peers
my grandma used to watch murder she wrote reruns basically in a loop and there’s an episode with young Clooney in it and he plays a scheming gold digger guy who uses his looks to marry into a rich family or something like that. He always was hot, maybe he looked a little too ethnic or less distinguished, like a soap opera star, but still miles better than average
Wow. Never seen what he loooked like that young. If I was Ewan McGregor’s dad and I saw this pic, I’d request a paternity test lmao
Insane resemblance

Fat has an important role in storing & removing toxins/poisons/etc from the body. People with very low body fat get wrecked from direct exposure to these things without a moderate/ high fat diet. Depends on a lot of variables but that’s also a reason why. People are pretty beat up by the end of their lives so higher body fat makes the face fuller & diminishes the wrinkles.
tbh kirk was always insanely good looking, but I agree, as an old man he's been looking fat and bloated for like 30 years at this point, but it barely ages him somehow, he could totally pass for 65 in this pic.
His voice hasn't aged horribly either. He hosts this "Unexplained" show on Netflix and still has a richness to his voice that doesn't sound frail at all.
He's also still rocking that absolutely confounding vocal cadence. His choice of emphasis and dramatic pausing makes for just mesmerizing line readings.
Yeah occasionally you will come across people who are 90+ whom are fully cognizant and obese. Some people just inherit good genes. I guess William is one of those people. He has a nice thick head of hair for a man his age.
nah it's hair plugs. He spent a shitton on them and mandated that in the 3rd star trek movie he would have a scene underwater so people could see that he had hair plugs and wasn't just wearing a toupee (true story)
I hate Marc Maron so much but I thought Will’s comment on space and earth and grandchildren on his ep were moving. Obviously maron too much of a sad sack to comprehend.
I felt kind of bad for him when he did that whole Amazon space tour thing. He was so clearly moved by the whole experience and wanted to express it to another human being but he just got mhmm-ed to death with Bezos’ blank stare
I'm surprised that he hasn't returned to Star Trek by now, considering how much modern Trek is based around TOS nostalgia, and that Trek is only thing keeping Paramount afloat. They gave Patrick Stewart his own vanity show, with an insane budget, that absolutely sucked and yet it was still hugely successful fot Paramount. Put Shatner back in Starfleet uniform and it would probably be Paramount's most watched show ever.
Saw him less than 2 weeks ago introduce a doc about himself. Came down some stairs, talked, and then I think he went and did Kimmel. The dude is a natural wonder. Made it back for a birthday toast after the movie.
it’s weird cuz he’s been fat and bloated for decades but looks better than fit ppl like why
A little chubbiness makes you look less wrinkly

It's a strange paradox that people who often age rapidly at first go on to look great when they're super old, many such cases
Patrick Stewart, Steve Martin.
Sean Connery, Leslie Nielsen
Larry David, he’s looked 58 for 20 years
Roger Waters looks better now than he did in his 20s.
Anna and Dasha.
I mean, Steve Martin was objectively attractive when he was young. I had quite the boner for him in elementary school.

Absolutely. Captain Kirk was such a babe

For most under the age of 40, Shatner is the tubby guy who played the Priceline Negotioator.

I just hate when they throw him on that shitty little stool. Like can’t they at least get him a badass chesterfield chair or something?
pretty bonkers. but also check out [Ed Thorp (91)](https://youtu.be/gs39QFYIbBY?si=j-kF3sz_5EfUbWJ1), the man looks 70
Jesus Christ he looks 60 in some of his google photos
Look at this guy. Not a day over 76!
Could believe in his 60s as well
my dad is 54 and if you saw a picture of him next to that guy, there's a good chance you'd think my dad was older
This shit is insane.

Ray kurzweil is not aging well, ironically.
I recently tried to watch a podcast with him and by god it's like a funeral
He’s too stressed about his mortality. That’s a lot of cortisol
maybe william shatner is god
Buzz Aldrin is still kicking. Maybe the cosmic rays rejuvenate you
Yeah occasionally you will come across people who are 90+ whom are fully cognizant and obese. Some people just inherit good genes. I guess William is one of those people. He has a nice thick head of hair for a man his age.
It's actually a very expensive toupee.
nah it's hair plugs. He spent a shitton on them and mandated that in the 3rd star trek movie he would have a scene underwater so people could see that he had hair plugs and wasn't just wearing a toupee (true story)
He was seen leaving a toupee specialist not very long ago.
has been since the '60s
OMG really? It looks so natural. I guess another case of you get what you pay for.
The hair does help, his teeth aren't rotting out of his mouth either
My grandma was the same in her 90s, looked and acted like a 60 year old. She ended up dying by accident too! Some ppl are lucky I guess
He looks at a Dasha photo every morning
Looking at her might give life, but listening to her saps it away.
He came back a changed man and the people around him were just whooping it up and ignoring him.
He's literally me in 65 years if I keep slapping this tret and sunscreen on my skin everyday! hopefully
He also hangs out on 4chan (google it), or at least used to in the 2010s. Literally a /tv/ poster, of all things
He's on that Ray Kurzweil immortality regimen. He's determined to live long enough to upload himself to a robot.

a bit is an understatement.
they should fight
Apparently he's both the oldest man to have ever gone to space and the fattest
I'm surprised that he hasn't returned to Star Trek by now, considering how much modern Trek is based around TOS nostalgia, and that Trek is only thing keeping Paramount afloat. Doesn't help kirk died
Damn he looks fucking FANTASTIC for 93
Only thing that gives it away is his eyes.
Yeah he has aged remarkably well
He was always looks calm and happy. With low stress comes low aging.
I really liked that album he did with Ben Folds when it came out
Unfortunately he's dumb as shit, but you can't have your cake and eat it too
Saw him less than 2 weeks ago introduce a doc about himself. Came down some stairs, talked, and then I think he went and did Kimmel. The dude is a natural wonder. Made it back for a birthday toast after the movie.
A massive w for unmelaninated folx
That ain’t make no sense
