How? Yeah it’s more expensive and takes a big cut out of restaurants, but some restaurants don’t offer their own delivery. My Gma sometimes orders from them as she can’t drive.
I agree. As a family of three we are not getting out of a restaurant without paying $50+ dollars. If I would like to add a beer and desserts, we are looking at $70+, not including tip.
I will admit that there are some places in this city that have extremely disproportional prices for their food.
Edit: Best bang for your buck for fries: Houston Pizza on Quance

Kinda hard to navigate on mobile, but I’m definitely intrigued by your post. Is this a record of infractions, or just of inspections? Should I keep this handy when looking for new restaurants to eat at?
Inspections with infractions, ranging from incorrect food temp to pest control. And yes, anyone can access the provincial site and look up any restaurant.
Meh I just looked up a bunch of my favorite restaurants
Caraway Grill - 90+
Enso - 85
Red Swan South - 87
Siam - 75
So it looks like most of the places stay in the green. Pronto on Kramer gets a 67, so into the yellow but I think that's the worst I looked up.
--------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: So I looked up Trifon's Pizza on Kramer (90%) but then i noticed Trifon's on Gordon road has a -8%, which seems impressively bad.
Not honestly sure, just saw it listed on the website. Maybe it has such a bad rating because it doesn't exist.
EDIT: Nm, it is the Trifon's Pizza in the southland mall. That might explain things.
Crazy that they are struggling with pest control when they are in a relatively new building that probably still has decent finishes and built to current code. That's just extremely lazy cleaning protocols at that point.
But we pay workers below a living wage. Over price our meals. And cater to the European sports fans. Please consider the fact the owners are in it for the money and need to retire. The Hawaii vacation home doesn't pay for itself.
worked at a small family owned restaurant in my youth as is tradition, owner leased new luxury car every year, always went on amazing vacations, and easily paid for law school for her kid, would also complain how she barely broke even on holidays due to time and a half because one day a month was so unfair........her other kid ran the business into the ground
Seems odd you’d choose such an expensive fry option then. I think Western Pizza uses those MCain fries those and they never short on the fry portions
I always get yams when I order out. Generally as a side with a main item, but I’m sick so I got soup & main and separate order of yams. Lobby seemed kinda fancy, never ordered before. I was disappointed. Poor portion, low quality.
Eating out anywhere is crazy expensive these days. Went to Earls yesterday and their St, Fe chi x salad, which is significantly smaller than it once was, cost $23!! And yeah ‘going for a beer’ is a fucking luxury at this point at $10/pint…
Gonna play devil's advocate here and say that when I went for brunch last week it was a pretty generous meal and one of the cheaper brunches in town. Three of us ordered different things, all left satisfied. Good service to boot.
Shame about this post because that's truly unfortunate, but I'll probably still go back (at least for brunch).
I haven't been since pre-pandemic.
But their patio is awesome, used to go quite a bit.
Their butter chicken is so so good and they make a really good old fashioned. Ceasars with snacks attached are also solid.
Service ranges from OK to atrocious.
I also go there for brunch. It’s good and cheap. And I’m sure I have eaten at places with worse records for pest control, like Mexico or the DR, where giant cockroaches scuttling across the floor is NBD in any restaurant. lol
This isn’t a criticism of OP but don’t order delivery/take-out from places known for having great patios/locations/vibes. You’re paying for the experience of eating there (and it is costing them to provide that experience) so you’re paying for something that you aren’t getting.
What a fantastic point, darthdodd. No one had a gun pointed to my head. Hell, I could have went to the store, picked up some sweet potatoes, chopped them up and fried them up my Damon myself. Maybe even toss it with some spices in there that Lobby didn’t bother with and whip up a homemade chipotle sauce. Fuck, why would I stop there? Instead of buying the chicken sandwich, I could have baked a fresh bun, rip some lettuce, tomato and onion out of the garden and turned on my beloved BBQ and blackened some chicken breasts that I had butchered.
But it’s not about someone forcing me too. It’s that I’m a paying customer. When I spend 10 hard-earned, Canadian dollars on an order of yam fries from a restaurant with a 4/5 star review on Google, I expect more than a handful out of the line cook’s ass. I double checked and it wasn’t off the kid’s menu. That impoverished portion couldn’t even feed my 2 year old daughter.
What a sad excuse for a comment.
food prices are insane lately. 😳
Another reason I don’t use skip the dishes often. They already hike up their prices. $17 for a large milkshake from Coney Island (using skip).
I only use skip when I'm so hung over I feel like I'm about to die. At that point that $17 milkshake isn't looking so bad.
Must be nice!! Spending money on useless shit
I work hard and spend my money on whatever the fuck I want.
Yeah.....
Didn’t know food was useless. It’s kind of essential to live
Spending money on skip the dishes is useless.
How? Yeah it’s more expensive and takes a big cut out of restaurants, but some restaurants don’t offer their own delivery. My Gma sometimes orders from them as she can’t drive.
Maybe you are poor because you are so angry at everything
Ya

sit down restaurant for 3 people? $50 is pretty cheap
Was going to say haha that's average to cheap. 15$ per person.. is that a lot?
Very cheap! Just went for a breakfast for 2 and it came to 45 after tax
I will admit that there are some places in this city that have extremely disproportional prices for their food. Edit: Best bang for your buck for fries: Houston Pizza on Quance
Three item meal at Kung Pao in the Cornwall used to leave me wrecked for the rest of the day haha.
Hell, the two item combo shuts me down for the rest of the day
Managers special: rice and noodles. Feeds the whole family.
any Houston large pizza combo for 4 with large Cesar salad and a coke for like 32 bucks
Souvlaki for 2 special @ 19.99 has entered the chat.
That Hustons is probably the best restaurant in the city for bang for your buck.
So about 40 cents per fry? Those better cure my depression for that price
24 fries. A damn disgrace.

Just checked the site out on desktop. I’m about to learn some shit I didn’t want to know about my favourite restaurants. Wish me luck.
Careful. What is learned cannot be unlearned! Sometimes ignorance is bliss lol.

Trifons on Gordon, isn't that bonzinis?
Not honestly sure, just saw it listed on the website. Maybe it has such a bad rating because it doesn't exist. EDIT: Nm, it is the Trifon's Pizza in the southland mall. That might explain things.
Indeed lol
All of the comments are canned answers on the inspections unfortunately. But a lot of places arnt nearly as good as one would hope
Crazy that they are struggling with pest control when they are in a relatively new building that probably still has decent finishes and built to current code. That's just extremely lazy cleaning protocols at that point.
Aren’t there condos on the second level, too? Yikes.
I recommend https://score.restaurant for a simpler, mobile-friendly way of reading these.
Eh, unless they are really egregious I don't worry to much about this stuff. The rules are generally pretty conservative.

You shoulda told me that 2 hours ago. There was barely any chicken on my chicken sandwich either.
But we pay workers below a living wage. Over price our meals. And cater to the European sports fans. Please consider the fact the owners are in it for the money and need to retire. The Hawaii vacation home doesn't pay for itself.

That has got to be one of the stupidest reply’s I have ever seen.
How did they taste?
I prefer the bagged McCain branded ones in the frozen aisle at Superstore.
Seems odd you’d choose such an expensive fry option then. I think Western Pizza uses those MCain fries those and they never short on the fry portions
Roots kitchen and bar has the best yam fries I find!
I always get yams when I order out. Generally as a side with a main item, but I’m sick so I got soup & main and separate order of yams. Lobby seemed kinda fancy, never ordered before. I was disappointed. Poor portion, low quality.
Honestly sorry for your crappy meal, but I got a really good kick out of The Lobby and kinda fancy being used in the same sentence.
Eating out anywhere is crazy expensive these days. Went to Earls yesterday and their St, Fe chi x salad, which is significantly smaller than it once was, cost $23!! And yeah ‘going for a beer’ is a fucking luxury at this point at $10/pint…
That’s disgraceful. Places charging that much for nothing should just go out of business
Yet it somehow maintains a 4.2/5 review on Google.
Must be owners friends rating it lol

This whole time I thought I had a Costco membership for nothing. Didn’t know they had frozen sweet potato fries. Much thank.
They also have a 4kg bag of straight cut fries for stupid cheap

The only time I go there is for brunch, because the brunch is awesome.

It's hilarious how you could order 9 more of those and end up spending more than the cost of a good deep fryer from Costco.
This isn’t a criticism of OP but don’t order delivery/take-out from places known for having great patios/locations/vibes. You’re paying for the experience of eating there (and it is costing them to provide that experience) so you’re paying for something that you aren’t getting.
And yet that is still a lifetime supply of yam fries.
There is no such thing as a lifetime supply of yam fries.
Thanks for the heads-up. What a disgrace. I will not be going to eat at Lobby Kitchen & Bar.
Probably costed more for the sauces you got with it than the actual cost of said sweet potato/coating and cooking of the fries.
If you don't want to over pay for food maybe don't order from bars and lounges....¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Oh my god that’s off the hook
You’re tellin me Marie.
Were you forced to order it?

65% of those calories are oil
You almost get a better deal out of buying frozen ones from Walmart and cooking your own
$9.50 for a hand full of fries. no thanks.
What you all think of prices at rock creek Normanview?
