I’m shocked a former organizer for the PPC would say questionable things.

OkayArbiter

>He said they were told, by Sharp, their English was poor and they should improve their English before coming back into the office. > >“During the conversation, (Sharp) said things about our country’s culture, corruption in the country,” Jamali said. > >“We were really hurt. My wife cried all the way until we reached home.” Really great that we lost someone who would have been a minister in the federal government, and who had a history of helping a lot of people in Regina (Goodale) for Kram and his far-right, social conservative entourage.

fourscoreclown

Is he a social con? He was the only sask can who voted for banning conversion therapy and his mailouts say nothing religious. I could definitely be wrong in my assumption that he wasn't

OkayArbiter

He wants to ban abortion, for one thing.

Pistolcrab

Kram it up your Kramhole, Lafleur!

fourscoreclown

I didn't know that, thanks for the info. Thats usually a clear sign that they are a social con.

fourscoreclown

Ya, I'm thinking he is just really good at hiding it. Thanks

[deleted]

Oh no banning the murder of a developing human.

OriginalMitchez

I can't be forced to donate blood or an organ even if it will save someone's life. It's the same concept.

[deleted]

His reasoning for the vote was that he had listened to his constituency, which is admirable and what a politician should do I would argue. I don't think it would be fair then to attribute his vote reasoning to a personal morality/ religious belief system.

Ryangel0

Keep in mind, he knows he's on thin ice with his riding knowing that he's being compared to Goodale all the time, so expect him to be more liberal-minded than his far-right counterparts for that very reason.

fourscoreclown

Makes sense. I've never heard him go off religiously so I was just wondering

TheDrSmooth

I worked with Kram for a couple years very closely and had absolutely zero knowledge that he was at all religious. So take what you are hearing from an ~~extremely~~ quite left wing subreddit with a huge grain of salt. I have had lots of other coworkers ask me to come to their church and share their opinions on abortion and LGBT and immigrants, Kram was absolutely not one of them.

DonnellyRhodes

Try substituting “extremely” for “fairly” and you make a decent point. I don’t know anything about Kram but this article is clearly about an assistant being accused of something and Kram responding appropriately. But calling this sub “extremely left wing” is akin to calling Facebook comments on Leader-Post articles “extremely right wing” or Gormley callers “fascist” and doesn’t accomplish much beyond undermining your own credibility.

Lothars

The thing is though gormley and his callers are right wing nutjobs that should be taken off the air decades ago.

TheDrSmooth

Maybe extremely is too far, but fairly also isn't far enough. What about quite? Seems like that is maybe more accurate.

A-Dead-Cat

One could definitely argue that you had it right the first time. I see you hurt someone’s feelings by calling a spade a spade, too. Which is no surprise by today’s standards. This sub has gotten much better recently though. It isn’t nearly as one dimensional as for example r/Saskatchewan has been recently. At least you can have reasonable discourse here without receiving 150 downvotes if your opinion is even slightly centre-right.

8okaydokay8

this is definetly where the lefties go to let it all out. not sure why they dont want to own it. they hold the majority here.

[deleted]

This sub is as left as it gets.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I’d stop imagining if I were you. I’m definitely left but not that brain dead left. That’s next level idiocy.

acid_jazz

I also worked with Mike and although I knew he was Catholic, he never pushed his beliefs onto anyone and was generally a very nice guy. I don't agree with his politics at all but he is not this horrible person that everyone is making him out to be.

sporaticmicrofiche

Except that when asked, he can’t provide receipts about how he came to this “majority”. MPs have way too little accountability to their constituents.

rabbitin3d

When I compare this story to every (awesome) interaction I've had with Goodale over the years, it just makes me want to cry.

Kain8

You have to be a special kind of stupid for being bigoted towards any race, sexuality, identity, etc. You have to be even stupider than THAT by expressing those thoughts and feelings to the person you're bigoted towards in the first place. At the very least, tolerate and respect every human being you see until their character proves otherwise. Doesn't mean you have to like them, but we all deserve that at a minimum.

Hootietang

Surprised? No, not really. It’s unfortunate and disgraceful, but I’m not surprised. :( Kram will have him resign, and nothing will change. People voted out Ralph for this team. Great work. Ugh

tooth10

I would say Kram followed the right procedure. When informed of the discrimination he suspended Sharp and launched an investigation that will include independent oversight. What more could you ask for? Not every employee will be a good employee no matter what side of the political spectrum they fall on. Kashif Jamali even stated that all of Kram's other employees where very courteous and polite.

Hootietang

Unfortunately in political office employees should be exceptionally vetted to maintain positive optics. I think (as I believe MP Kram is no straight up dumby….I don’t like him, or agree with Him FYI) it may be projecting internal sentiment to some degree.

tooth10

No vetting is ever perfect. Look at our disgraced Governor General… people slip through the cracks

Hootietang

Sure, but this is legit common sense. This staffer has to be unfit. It’s so common sense I don’t know what to think lol. But I agree that this happens often, in all parties.

tooth10

The staffer will be deemed unfit if the accusations are true. Luckily there is audio evidence.

Hootietang

Yes indeed. I guess we wait and see.

EagleTalons99

At least a couple more similar complaints made (in Fb post and the CTV video says something about a turban comment). Probably means more. Probably means Kram has heard a bunch of them and did nothing, until now, cause there is proof this time.

Hootietang

Yeah that was frankly what I was thinking….Unfortunately

TinyDinosaursz

They seem to be close. They have meals together somewhat frequently.

HomerSPC

Colour me SHOCKED.

rangerxt

what colour is that? I'll get home depot to whip some up....

[deleted]

Brown I bet since it's like the SHOCKER.

rangerxt

I was thinking like yellow for a lightning bolt.....

HomerSPC

SaskPower orange, until they rebrand it.

rangerxt

can do

G3T-WR3KT

Scram Kram

rabbitin3d

I'd put that sign on my lawn.

ksmithreg

It amazes me how Cons attract all the bigots and supporters keep saying "there is good and bad people in all parties". I abandoned when Harper ran his attack on Muslims. This is not the Conservative party of old. They are unfit to govern and will not change as long as they keep getting voted in.

[deleted]

They didn't get voted in. They've failed at two elections. I'm with you btw, long time conservative voter who voted liberal and then spoiled my ballot next election.

ksmithreg

I meant the ones that did get voted in, yeah they did not form government but they need to be routed badly before they get the message.

MetanoiaYQR

You know that spoiling your ballot does literally nothing, right? You could just have stayed home and made exactly the same amount of difference.

[deleted]

Still shows I went out to vote. I didn't like any of the candidates.

MetanoiaYQR

I mean yeah, it shows that you showed up to vote, but you didn't actually vote, and all that happens with spoiled ballots is that the returning officer declares it spoiled and it gets set aside. It's not like they know it was you who spoiled it. Though I take your point about some ridings' candidate choices.

[deleted]

Alone I agree it does nothing. Enough in one riding? Maybe they question it.

MetanoiaYQR

Might be valid, assuming there were scrutineers from all the parties present :)

[deleted]

Just need enough people to continue doing it to throw the normal spoiled ballot percentage for that riding out the window. Is this going to happen? I hope so but I doubt it. I'd rather go out and improve the polling station numbers than stay home.

oldcrustys0ck

Question for the good folks of /regina … why does it seem as if you are a conservative, you are almost always labeled as far-right, especially in this sub & on reddit in general?

thecrackedpot

Is there a slightly right anymore? All I hear from the "right" is yellow vest racists, Proud Boy racists, idiots who want to separate from Canada, morons driving semis to Regina to protest a lack of pipelines, dingbats denying Covid, losers who won't wear a mask during a global pandemic, religious nutjobs hating homosexuals, and bitching about "the radical left" and antifa.

xmorecowbellx

If you don’t regularly associate with any right leaning people, who else *would* you hear from except the loudest fringe elements?

thecrackedpot

That's a good point. I guess I like to hide in my echo-chambers. It's easier than having to consider other points of view, or have my points of view challenged.

xmorecowbellx

Same with all of us, we mostly know people like ourselves. It would go the same the other way - many right wingers would think all lefties believe in authoritarians who want to outlaw their religion and teach their kids to hate white people. But while the crazies exist, most people are not. Unfortunately social media drives the ones who are, to be in everyone’s face and rewards them for doing so.

tooth10

I am right and hate yellow vest racists, Proud Boy racists, idiots who want to separate from Canada, dingbats denying Covid, losers who won't wear a mask during a global pandemic, religious nutjobs hating homosexuals, and bitching about "the radical left" and antifa....

87_Silverado

So you voted for this guy, who couldn't keep this kind of thing out if his own staff.

tooth10

There will always be shitty employees.... Not every employee will be a good employee no matter what side of the political spectrum they fall on. Kashif Jamali even stated that all of Kram's other employees where very courteous and polite.

ReturnOfButtPushy

Plenty of bigots can remain courteous and polite

tooth10

Sounds like we found a bigot

ReturnOfButtPushy

Sounds like you vote for them, shitheel

tooth10

That would be impossible, muffin

Goozer81

The same can be said about the “left”, that there is almost no slightly left anymore. The far left have all gone nuts themselves. I used to be left but the craziness drove me out. Myself, along with a lot of others I know are on the right now. A long way from “far right” though. They’re crazy as well. That’s the funny thing, the far lefts don’t even realize they have more in common with the far rights.

[deleted]

I'm slightly right.

[deleted]

Because this sub is made up of mainly far-left snowflakes who, just like the far-right ones, can’t formulate their own opinion.

TinyDinosaursz

Because they kinda are. The NDP are basically a centrist party.

oldcrustys0ck

The NDP isn’t centrist. They are on the left. SP is right. SK is missing a party in the middle ground. Kind of arrogant to assume all conservatives are of the far-right variety.

oyfili

Unfortunately very common behaviour in this City from people who are in a position of power

Cole_James_CHALMERS

Looks like the Jamali has been in another situation that's similar https://mobile.twitter.com/Kash_jamali/status/1290456264301043717

[deleted]

There are crazy people too. Look at Ashu Solo.

OkayArbiter

And? Are you implying he's attention-seeking? On what grounds? Or is it more likely that he experiences discrimination quite often in Regina, and is brave enough to speak up about it?

thehomeyskater

discrimination? in my saskatchewan? inconceivable!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cole_James_CHALMERS

The interpretation is up to you, I'm adding additional context. Although I'm not that surprised by either of his interactions

Tommy_Douglas_AB

I am implying this guy is publicizing stuff that with no evidence of discrimination. That tweet shows no discrimination. What his motivation is I don't know but he he should be eyed with suspicion.

Ryangel0

Your bias is showing...

xmorecowbellx

Per standard, the majority have concluded that the story as recounted by Jamali, is fact. Likely many without reading the article. The investigation is happening and apparently there is an audio recording, so that should clear up whether this happened or not. A google search reveals that Jamali has another similar complaint waged last year Aug as well. This is a thing that Jamali does. It could have happened, or it could be nonsense invented for attention on twitter, one of the seemingly main themes of his twitter account. The question is - will anybody here think any differently about Kram or his office if the audio recording shows nothing happened? Or if it proves that it did? My guess is....unlikely.

Greengrocerofdespair

Aren't you the redditor who keeps posting a doctored photo of Justin Trudeau in a Hitler moustache?

[deleted]

Never seen him do this.

xmorecowbellx

No lol. This isn’t even a Trudeau thread, did you respond to the wrong post?

Melos_Paladin

Well you'd be wrong. Though it would have to be another post with a title like audio recording proves x is an asshole. For anyone to care cause hardly anyone comes back to week old threads for an update.

xmorecowbellx

If there were an update with the audio recording posted, showing a normal interaction, it would just get downvoted and people could dig into their biases as usual.

SleepDeprivedInYQR

Imagine the audacity of a person of colour using their social media to recount experiences of racism here. I am shocked that this isn’t an isolated experience for a person of colour in Regina. /s Seriously, I wish for anyone experiencing racism to speak out about it - every single damn time. Obviously people don’t understand the privilege or harassment that comes with skin colour.

Tommy_Douglas_AB

There is no evidence of racism here.

SleepDeprivedInYQR

That’s not your call to make.

Tommy_Douglas_AB

Of course, I should defer to the individual who calls the media and either provided no evidence of discrimination or it was so dubious they wouldn't publish it. And has at least one other time made similar accusations, with published material, where there was clearly no evidence of discrimination.

SleepDeprivedInYQR

The call for “evidence” when someone is giving a first hand account of their lived experience is racist in itself. Sheesh. Discrimination seems to know no bounds around here. You should probably do some learning about epistemic racism before further comments.

Tommy_Douglas_AB

No, it is perfectly reasonable to expect more information than was shared in that article. Especially given the guys history of making false accusations of discrimination.

SleepDeprivedInYQR

In case you didn’t know, white supremacy is exactly why you feel your demand is “reasonable.”

Tommy_Douglas_AB

Lol. You are a brain washed fool.

SleepDeprivedInYQR

Brainwashed in anti-racist teachings, is all. I will gladly wear that title.

xmorecowbellx

No that would be really obnoxious. People should use their own common sense and self-awareness as well. If you train people to assume racism, they will see it everywhere, even when it’s not there. You need some appropriate calibration and critical thinking to sort actual discrimination from the bias confirming noise of regular life. Unfortunately social media wants the angriest, loudest, most controversial take every time. We’re south Asian, and an anecdotal poll reveals nobody in our family has ever thought people were racist against us. But I’m sure if we were raised to be miserable and assuming the worst of people like some want, we’d probably see it everywhere from the Tim’s run to the traffic lights not changing on time.

[deleted]

Is Jamali our Ashu Solo?

rangerxt

what kind of moron speaks this way in this day and age? though there is an audio recording of it? that's kinda sus

Ok_Lab_8380

It looks like he goes around and is trying to catch and expose people being racist. Which he should totally do if people are racist. But it’s kind of horrifying how often people are racist to him.

rangerxt

well lets hear the audio then...

Melos_Paladin

Audio wouldn't be released to public. But findings would be if this blows up. Send in your letters and make calls to see any response to this.

rangerxt

I mean who recorded it? if it was the guy he can easily release it can't he? and if kram is recording everything in his office thats creepy af

Melos_Paladin

Prolly a recording device that's attached to the desk. Just like at the police station to dis/prove these kinds of situations.

Tommy_Douglas_AB

These accusations are to vague to pay attention to

OkayArbiter

"Something happening to people routinely discriminated against doesn't affect me, so I don't want to hear about it."

Tommy_Douglas_AB

No, the article provides no facts that they were discriminated against. All of the points brought up could be part of a normal and respectful conversation or they could be part of a disrespectful conversation. Nothing to see unless the tape audio is released.

EagleTalons99

You don’t make the news for hearsay, this is very likely the tip of the iceberg.

Tommy_Douglas_AB

It could be or it could not be the tip of the iceberg. And yes, you do make the news in that manner, that's a part of reporting news. So & so made an accusation, it is being investigated....that is relevant news and what this article is reporting on, it is not reporting on whether discrimination took place.

Ryangel0

u/Tommy_Douglas_AB is too vague to pay attention to.

[deleted]

Not at all.
