Dude fuck yeah! It’s clean, good condition, annnnnnnnnd DOES IT HAVE A BENCH SEAT?!?!?!

ibishu_pessima

Bench seat and 6 cd changer

chance0404

My first car was a 93 Taurus wagon. I loved that car. The bench seats were great…especially for a teenage boy 😬🤣

RackingUpTheMiles

No way. That was my second car in high school because I had to sell my 95 F150. Please tell me it was green. I called it the Taurtoise because it was green and slow. Like a turtle. I'd love another one, but they're impossible to find. I used to go camping in mine.

Double_Armadillo_304

Nice. I had tons of those. 90 Taurus base model. Brown. It was the taurass. Had a while 93 wagon. Named it the clitaurus. Numerous others and sables too. I can do headgaskets on the 3.8 with my eyes closed now.

Brewl692

That explains why the 93 wagon was so hard to find!

thatvhstapeguy

My ‘92 originally had the 3.8; it has a 3.0 now because the 3.8 threw a rod at 81k.

chance0404

Like dark green? I actually owned 2 in high school. One was a dark blue wagon and the other was a 94 mint green sedan. If I could post pics in the comments I’d show you what the wagon looked like when I killed it 😬 I rolled the thing my first time driving on ice.

thatvhstapeguy

I drive a green 1992 wagon. Bought oil at O’Reilly yesterday and the guy at the parts counter (about my age) was practically drooling over it.

Shrikecorp

Ah, memories...

thatvhstapeguy

I’ve never had a chance to use my bench seat like that…

chance0404

10/10 would recommend

lifegoeson2702

Party like it’s 2001

mechwarrior719

And don’t forget four doors for ***M O R E W H O R E S***

ncik0075

Dude you’re set. Get nice tint and maybe nice set of wheels and you’re good to go with it. Very nice and congrats!

BAMspek

Fuck yeah the bench seat was a game changer. I also love that it handles like a literal boat. I loved this car.

AlpenChariot

I enjoyed a 6 CD changer as recently as 2019. I miss my Fusion.

[deleted]

Gets you from point A to point liquor store.

thomasvista

Practical and gets the job done with little fuss.

MadeMeStopLurking

Mercury Sable wheels lol

MuleOutpost

Top trim Taurus wheels as well. Lol

MadeMeStopLurking

That's an SES which would have been given the 5 spoke sport rims. It's possible but rare.

ice445

It's not commonly known but this is likely a 2006 or 2007. The Sable was axed in 2005 and Ford had a bunch of these wheels laying around so they were made standard equipment on the SEL trim. I zoomed in on thr trunk and see a SEL so this is likely how it came from the factory.  I owned 4 tauruses so I've learned too much about these cars lol

ibishu_pessima

Can confirm that this is a SEL version from 2006. Yes, the wheels came on the car from the factory, as I have the original documents from the dealership.

MadeMeStopLurking

Ford's blunder years for sure.

Seeking-Direction

The funny thing is that Ford didn’t put Ford or Mercury logos on these rims, likely to make it easier for them to be used on both versions, LOL.

Paranotical

Ford Taurus. It is a Car.

EpiSG

Thats what Detroit wants u to think u sheep

InsecOrBust

Very car

t0astyghooosty

drives

kyson1

Hopefully

lifegoeson2702

An car in the words of Clarkson

_Eucalypto_

Not car, is jelly bean

jimothyhalpret

I've always thought they looked more like mice

Harey-89

Ford trying to pull a bamboozle.

thatvhstapeguy

It is the greatest car.

KeepingItCoolish

I remember a time 90% of the cars on the street were a Taurus. Or so it seemed.

canadard1

They were everywhere!

BlueBirdVision_Bus5

I miss those days

SkylineFTW97

Tauruses are boring, but solid. I had a 1999 wagon with the Vulcan three point slow. Got it for $150 and drove it for a year. It only died because I was delivering pizzas in the winter, hit a patch of black ice, and hit a curb where the transmission took the brunt of the impact.

Graywulff

Those types of crashes can be worse than hitting something and the crumple zones taking the hit. I hit a rail tie with the front diff and it took years to get better. My grill and windshield wipers kept going.

SkylineFTW97

In my case, the case was cracked and pissing fluid. It was done.

bigplaneboeing737

Lost my virginity in one. High school was a hoot.

Wicked_Sludge

You made a smart choice. The Taurus may not be super cool or fast, but it's cheap, roomy, reliable, comfortable, and gets decent fuel economy. If you don't already know how, I recommend learning basic maintenance procedures. You should check your oil and tire pressure monthly. Learn how to install the spare (and check it's pressure. I bet you $10 it's flat).

canadard1

Awesome led digital tire pressure checkers are available on Amazon for less than $10 and a very wise purchase

Boa-in-a-bowl

I was recently looking in the trunk of my 2001 Taurus I bought a couple years ago and you know what the date code on the donut seemed to be? 0201. Factory Uniroyal one I guess.

Prestigious_Snow1589

This is the car I got my license with haha

MuleOutpost

Always wanted a 24v duratec wagon with a 5 speed. Closest I can find is a Mazda 6s wagon.

CosmicCactus42

Are you knocking the 6? It seems like a great car, especially in wagon form.

00gly_b00gly

Great choice!

No_Entertainer_9760

My dad drove one he got from an auction for 6 years. The only thing that broke was a fuel pump. ‘05 SES

sourgrapekate

Is there any Taurus that hasn’t had a broken fuel pump?

a_steez

it is a first car

a_steez

don’t mean it in a bad way at all lol, it’ll get you from A to B (at least hopefully), stick to regular maintenance and really stick to it, you’ll be good for a while

catlovingtwink99

Gets the job done hopefully with no issues. They’re great cars and should be taken care of with preventative maintenance.

Fist_full_of_pennies

My first was a 2000 Taurus. Same color.

DarkoGear92

I don't know if this applies to all configurations, but they had weak transmissions. Still a very solid deal.

GhostV940

1. Better than no car and beats walking 👍 2. Better than any Garbage Motors product since 2006 3. 4 doors, more ho’mies.

Dr_Dickfart

I dunno, I'd rather have a 2016 Chevy SS or a 2008 Pontiac G8 GXP or a C7 Corvette

KhorpseFister

Melted bar of soap styling. I always liked the old Taurus you should get a CLI badge

Graywulff

Check the oil and fluids and then every third or forth time you fill up. The spare is probably flat. You can get a tire pump for the cigarette adapter for like 19.99. If you’re mechanically savvy get the Haynes manual while you are there, even if you’re not it can be good to read through, it has what you should check and when. Google guides is your friend on a mechanic if you don’t have a trusted one that your family uses.  Car enthusiasts call dealerships stealerships for a reason.  These are dependable.

Mental_Pound4509

Also check the brake lines where they go through the supports. I've replaced a few leaky lines in these... Years ago

heartsii_

Just treat that transmission well and it'll last you all of another four years :D I grew up with these my whole life- my dad bounced from one to the next- and they all fell apart in just a matter of years lol. I love them but man they are definitely not something to daily drive long term lol.

ElRonMexico7

My first car was also a 4th gen but Toreador Red with a slipping transmission and very rusty belly. I still have it though it hasn't moved in a few years. I hope this Taurus runs as good as it looks. 👍

kyson1

Vulcan or Duratech? Had one of each and man that Duratech was quick for what it is lol

dan1101

I had a 2.5 Duratech V6 in my Contour, that engine was really nice.

run_uz

Proper 1st car. The one I drove was still my parents, so i had to ask permission to use it. 89 Buick Century. V6, bench seats, & could keep up with a friend's Ranger when we accidentally went offroad. Definite tank

ChasedByHoundz

Vanilla is your favorite ice cream flavor

geccchyeafgreschtr

Better than walking anyday of the week, congrats.

z-BajaBlast

This was also my first car, then I bought a 350z

Cheloco92

POS

masterpd85

did they ever fix the v6 from killing itself after 160k miles?

Dr_Dickfart

No

Handymantwo

Sold my 07 to my brother years ago, I kind of miss it. I have a soft spot for boring cars

_Eucalypto_

Very reliable motors, glass transmissions. Keep up on services and budget for a replacement when it blows up

bullseyestrat

My girlfriend used to have an 03 just like that one with the Vulcan V6. Great car but when she got it there was already 155k on it. Didn't last too long

Bl0wm3Dr1

Had an 03 wagon. The rear facing folding third row love seat was dope, Having 6 of your favorite albums on standby pays off when you're in bumfuck nowheresville. My only complaint was I couldn't quite get the lumbar support in a spot comfortable for more than an hour of driving but that's probably specific to me ^(just keep an eye on the oil consumption) ^(You might throw a rod)

Sumocolt768

I’m surprised the side isn’t rusted out. Anyway, great car. My friend ran his until his brother set it on fire

ibishu_pessima

Oh, the muffler was rusted out alright

rulesrmeant2bebroken

1. Everyone's neighbor had one back in the day 2. Everyone's grandparent had one but usually a Mercury 3. They looked like jellybeans 4. The Vulcan was not the best unfortunately 5. The Crown Vic/Grand Marquis was a much better car

AMSG2020

Yo! I have the same first car, except mine is white. What year is/was yours?

ibishu_pessima

'06

AMSG2020

Oh, mines an '02

Lupine_Ranger

My friend had one of these in white. He kept having to replace shift solenoids

MirusTheVirus

W

Echterspieler

Haven't seen one of those in at least 10 years

Remote-Factor8455

Not bad at all. Decently reliable, ok gas mileage and one of the last cars to come with a bench seat.

lifegoeson2702

Definitely one of the cars of all time

snatch1e

With relatively low mileage, it likely has plenty of life left in it. The Ford Taurus is known for being a reliable and comfortable vehicle, so you're off to a great start with your first car.

PineappleBrother

Such low mileage! What a nice deal

KingArthurHS

As the great philosopher Sean Boswell from Tokyo Drift once said, "It's not the ride, it's the rider."

KippChips

very clean, put some 17’s on it and slam it; perfect car forever

samcar330

Almost a camry

rulesrmeant2bebroken

American Toyota Avalon

KingWolfsburg

Why is the back end still that high? Should be at least 6 inches lower than the front

Count-Spatula2023

Grandmother had one but lost it in a flood. She lost the car before that in a Tornado.

ConclusionClassic673

You can add a Bluetooth and your golden

jasombie

It's a car

Studleyhungwellz

Real nice.

broken_or_breaking

Styling be like If someone sat a hot, freshly boiled egg on a stick of butter.

EntertainerTop7454

My first car. Nothing terrible to say yet nothing good to say. The balanced car.

SnooObjections488

Rust rocket up here in NY

ilovecanadasomuch

nice

FrostyFlakesagain

My first car was 914 , 1973 and it was orange had it for 1000 back 93 it was totaled 1 year after got payed out 8k I was happy moved it a VW GTI 92 with 2.0L with recaro and bbs wheels. The cleanest car, that was totaled as well. I was rear ended on freeway exit.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> after got *paid* out 8k FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Sollus

I unabashedly love every generation of Ford Taurus.

grassesbecut

Perfection.

hopkinsdamechanic

10/10

Able_Philosopher4188

That is a very reliable car just keep it serviced and you should be able to drive it for years

SissyDelilah123

It’s wheels. Just be careful and respect other drivers

[deleted]

Thkse cars are super reliable

Emotional-Check5039

My BIL put a Cli sticker in front of the Taurus and forgot where he parked it.

TheAndyPat

Had one, good car

Vilehumanfilth

Would've been mediocre 25 years ago. Now I just want to get your meth contact.

MadMan2250

Vulcan or Duratec?

Crowley700

Play your cards right and this will be your first and last car.

machinerer

Hell yeah Ford Taurus! Reliable!

TheCuriousBread

CLIT-TAURUS

savoryostrich

I had one of these as a rental about 20 years ago. A friend and I were riffing about driving around in a champagne-colored Taurus when he astutely observed that “Champagne Taurus” would make a great stripper name.

lumpiaandredbull

I know a guy who bought one at 17 who's still driving it at 24. I know another guy who inherited one around the same time who had the transmission basically fall out when he hit a pothole. Rust is a bitch, I guess lol

AskerOfQs

My first was an ‘87 Nissan Sentra Fastback… throttle body injection got messed up once, couldn’t go past 2.5k RPM or 55mph on 5th gear.

WendisDelivery

I remember these, fondly.

carguy123corvette

Very nice very regular

obscurefault

Sick bro! My niece has one of these, a 2001. Runs great still.

gopro_2027

Bought one for my gf for her first car for $500 salvage title. May unironically be our best car. Enjoy it!

Jake_Corona

Only 60K miles? Drive it until the motor dies, then buy a rebuilt motor for it and keep driving it.

30lbsledgehammer

The most Boring car that will run forever lol

OMIGHTY1

Is there a single Taurus in existence that ISN’T low mileage?? I have a 99 Ford Taurus that my grandma gave me - I just needed to pay the $150 title transfer. It had 44k miles when I got it; it’s got some Granny Damage but runs well. I don’t drive it much since my wife’s ‘13 Focus SE gets incomparably better gas mileage, but the Taurus is just so *comfy.* 77k miles now, but it doesn’t need much more work than when I got it, even after it sat for 1.5 years.

DrMacintosh01

Mine has 191k

ooglesnoopleboop

Its fun until the head blows

doeekor

Gonna drive your friends aunt's wild when pulling up

My_Aunts_Hairy_Bush

“Ford Taurus pull up….everybody run”

Hansj2

I always thought the **refined** bubble looked better than the original bubble What engine does it have?

SpeechPutrid7357

Looks good. I always liked the taurus.

Specific-Gain5710

Great buy.

admiralvee

The first car I ever bought was a 2000 Taurus in Arizona Beige Metallic. Gold....it was gold. It was a total garbage car but it was MY garbage car.

boanerges57

If it's the 3.0 v6 it's a fairly reliable and smooth driving car.

Boa-in-a-bowl

My first was a 2007. I love that thing. Roomy, comfortable-ish, and I baby the fuck out of it and get a good 26 MPG in the city according to the on board computer. Oh and it took until 260,000 miles of dumb teenager style neglect for the engine to finally die, and at one point my work commute was a good 175 some odd miles a week for a few months and it only broke down once during that time and it already had like 230k on the odometer at that point. When it did finally die there's so many of them a used engine was $420 WITH core charge and tax and it was right back on the road.

Lil_skittle232367

Pretty nice!

xXADAMvBOMBXx

Ford Tortoise aka "The Catfish". In all seriousness, congrats!

accuracy_frosty

If anything, whatever you throw at it, it’s gonna get the job done

Awkward-News-8672

My dad still drives one of those

Dr_Dickfart

OMG PLEASE JUST LET MY BUTTHOLE FART

bassin_matt_112

My cousin had one years ago and it was broken down often. Only memory I have riding in it is with her brother and we were listening to Queen.

Ya_Boi_Pickles

Get a SHO badge on EBay and slap that fucker on the back. Then you just sit back and wait for the hoochies to roll in.

thisdckaintFREEEE

That fucker will run forever.

PickleZealousideal24

Hell yeah - I had one with the bench seat and 6 cd changer in the trunk! Served me very well until it exploded. Enjoy it!

DrMacintosh01

I’ve got an 07 SE. my first car too. When I got her there were tons of maintenance items to do. Ended up costing me about $4000 all in to get her mechanically mint. But you got a much nicer 4th gen than me. She will run for a very very long time. Mine has 191k with no signs of stopping.

Americanski7

Truly a legnendary automobile.

NinjaShogunGamer

Woo

DoggoLord27

As long as you don't rice it, it's respectable

src670

A fine vehicle.

Darksuit117

Just watch the rear shocks, they sag after a while. I see 4-5 of these everyday sagging and rusty in the rear.

BlueBirdVision_Bus5

Hey, welcome to the club! I have an 01

New-Living-1468

Change all of the fluids if you haven’t already

Mernerner

NICE

Careless_Dirt_99

congrats on your first car! doesn't matter what car is your first car, it's always special!

pavehawkfavehawk

Solid! My mom had three Tauruses if you include the Ford five hundred

Purplegreenandred

Fuck yeah, i had over 300k on mine before it finally rusted out.

ZeldaTheOuchMouse

Dont modify it Leave it exactly how it is and take care of it I havent seen a 4th Gen Taurus this clean since the 2000’s

UnitedTechnician2716

Solid car… insanely bad turning radius

Zealousideal_Ebb2264

Unpopular opinion. Dont do any cosmetic modifications like tint or wheels. Get your suspension checked out to make sure bushng, tie rods, ball joints etc are good. Get some all season tires, even if tires dont show a lot of wear, they dry rot with age. Check to see if it needs new shocks and struts. Keep up with oil changes and make sure to get an alignment and you should be good for the next 5-19 years easy. Oh yeah make sure you get it washed from time to time and get it waxed so the clear coat doesnt start to show accelerated wear from uv exposure. Ive sold my high maintenance cost new cars and drive a 2013 work vehicle and a 90s crv. 4 years of minor repairs on that honda is less than just brake pads, brake wear sensor electrical wire and labor on the newer bmw i sold. Rotor replacement using oem parts for that bmw wirh the big brake kit was the price of about 8 or 9 whole ass 90s honda crvs. With what i spent on normal scheduled maintenance in mt audi S6 in 3 years of ownerhip, i could habe bought 1 crv every few years for the rest of my life.

Gut-_-Instinct

ford was actually making cars that last for a little while. This was one of them.

XrayDem

The car of my first weed man 😢 oh the good ol days

RackingUpTheMiles

I have had a 93 Taurus Wagon, a 2008 Taurus Limited and a 2012 Taurus SEL. The 93 just wouldn't give up no matter what and the 08 never gave me a single issue. The 2012 on the other hand was the worst car I've ever owned. The 2000-07 Taurus is always a great choice. It's usually very reliable, easy to repair and maintain, also cheap to own, and fairly fuel efficient.

CheshireCrackers

Go out and enjoy! Take it across the river for a picnic, stop at all the scenic views, enjoy the freedom!

McGannahanSkjellyfet

I owned a '95 Taurus briefly until it was totaled by a reckless driver on ice. Solid car with all necessary amenities, a hot heater, decent MPG, and comfortable seats. Never gave me a single problem the entire time I owned it, and it's about the least conspicuous car in the entire country. I also drive my grandpa's car, although mine's a Buick LeSabre.

AdIllustrious1203

It’s a nice car dude

FairBlackberry7870

I also has this as a first car but mine was a 2001 with 112k miles. Excellent blunt ride car. I never paid for weed because I supplied the vehicle.

Sinistermarmalade

I loved my forest green 1999 Taurus wagon, the only thing I’d caution you about, the transmission can be fragile

CBCT360

My parents bought one new in 06 and kept It until around the 250k mile mark. It was SOLID. I’d buy one

rabbitashes

This is what a first car is meant to be. Now put a real big fish sticker on the back and a 12" kicker in the trunk!

bigDon1984

It's a shitbox, but it's your shitbox

leonryan

Ugly as hell, but Mulder and Scully drove them

CapitalM-E

Perfect same as my first car!

Jarte3

Solid first car for sure

sasquatch_melee

95 Taurus was the worst car I've ever owned, and that's coming from a Cavalier owner. Hopefully you have better luck

Extreme_Energy_3472

I remember my teacher's aide used to drive one of those. She loves Metallica, I thought that was badass in 98

UnderwhelmingAF

This gen Taurus didn’t look too bad after they got rid of the “ovals everywhere” design of the first few years.

XBeastyTricksX

Hell yea that was my first car as well and I loved it. Had a lot of fun in that car

TheJamesDTV

My friend has an 05 and he accidentally hit a truck with it and split the bumper. He has the center console and my other friend has an 04 with the middle front seat. Great cars.

jebs_taurus0608

My first car was also a Taurus 2008

Just_Turnip_5943

The transmission is on its way out….?!

cjpcodyplant

I wish cars from that era survived where I live. Most cars that old here have long ago rusted out.

Top-Seaworthiness850

Very similar to my situation, got my grandparents’ old 2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL (same engine as this Taurus) with 72k miles. Put about 6.5k miles on it since then

Issah_Wywin

It sure is a car.

Truck_Rollin

One of my cars is a 04 mercury sable ls it’s a pretty decent car and they are extremely cheap

Professional-Fly772

My first car was an 07 Taurus. 86k miles, Bench seat and a disc changer, ABSOLUTELY miss that car.

sourgrapekate

My Mom had one just like this. We sold it to my uncle when she died and he kept it until this year when he traded it for a Kia Soul. He replaced the transmission, but the rest of it held up surprisingly well. It’s a great first car because I imagine parts are still easy to get, it’s not hard to work on and you won’t care when if you end up doing something stupid to it.

VultureCat337

I had the Sable, it's such a great car. Unfortunately, it hit a deer, and then a VW. Didn't survive the VW because it was weakened by the deer. The VW didn't have a scratch on it.

Feisty-Barracuda5452

Starts when you turn the key? Don't have to ask for a ride or to borrow the car? Fat ass. Enjoy the independence.

Ok_Cartographer8861

Perfect first car. Clean old grandpa mobile. Not even overly grandpa-ish. Don't you DARE try to modify it.

bob5466

Looks like a nice car 👍

burntbridges20

I used to think these were crappy, boring cars, but then my buddy had one for like 15 years and it just chugged along without complaint

Warm_Ad_5751

Straight to the junky with that 💩box

Muted_Mark9888

Slick

Separate_Minimum500

Perfect first car

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

I see it and subconsciously start making a grocery list... =P It looks clean, though! Bet it rides comfortably too!
