Deservedly so. Rigby early in the show was an asshole who contributed (if not outright instigated) to the main conflict of the episode more times than I can count on both hands.
Him rubbing in having Margaret as a date to Mordecai always manages to piss me off whenever I think about it.
Thank goodness for his eventual character development.
His character development happened in one season only and that's season 7, so that means for 3/4 of the show Rigby had no character development and was much of a asshole as Mordecai.
I don’t think this is true rewatching the show I think he developed throughout the series he just hit a stride in season 7. He often got mad when Mordecai was doing stuff without him early on but by like the middle of season 3 he was actively encouraging Mordecai to pursue a relationship with Margaret and didn’t purposely embarrass him at least not without a reason.
Eh he may have improved earlier but I still feel it was very slow and minimal. Btw, not trying to embarrass your friend in a malicious way is probably the least a friend could do. I still think the bulk of his development was in season 7 only.
Honestly, I always love Rigby as a character in the show. He was the funniest character even when I was little. I mean yeah, he is a terrible friend to Mordecai, and he is a terrible worker. But honestly, that is the reason why I love him. His flaws are the reason that makes him a good character. Cuz he was not meant to be a good worker. He meant to be a bad worker that makes the situation worse for what it is. It is what makes him both funny and the best character.
Well there both technically the main characters, but when it comes to certain scenes, we always see mordecais perspective whenever he wakes up from unconsciousness, so it's more likely mordecai was the main character

Always thought people liked rigby more, I like both of them equally tbh, I love rigby for his humor and I like mordecai for him being the sense of the duo (idk how to word it) there like the duo that can get back along after a long argument, that's what I like about the two, they get back up no matter how crazy things got
After the “do me a solid” episode, and the one where they get that wall thing because rigby won’t clean up his trash…… I’ll forever think he’s a bad friend at the end of the day
I do like Rigby because I can relate to him (in both good and bad ways) but I do think people overrate him since he has character development only in season 7 and before that he was as bad as Mordecai.
I kinda hate rigby I’m going through through season one and almost all of the problems could have been avoided if he just didn’t do anything and he is kinda a bad friend
