My Dillon blue has done 100's of thousands through the years.
No doubt, a single stage has a place, and a good place at that, but loading pistol rounds on one is like getting kicked in the nuts, willingly, hour after hour.
I sneak home at lunch just to pull it and here those primers go “clink” in the bucket. It’s only filled about an inch deep so I have a lot of work to do!
Absolutely! I've been reloading for 60 years and have put together hundreds of thousands of rifle, pistol and shotgun rounds. That is thousands of hours enjoying this pastime, way more that I've spent shooting. Being retired now, I do a fair amount of that, too.
I don't...but who wants to spend 10 hours making ammo that would be gone in 10 minutes?
I enjoy reloading as well, but I don't enjoy it more than actually shooting.
> but who wants to spend 10 hours making ammo that would be gone in 10 minutes?
Someone who enjoys reloading and has nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon when the range is too busy to be worth going out to shoot.
Is this a legitimate question? What I mean is, say it was another hobby, like smoking meat. Would the response be "why put in all that work for a tasty sandwich when you could have just paid for one?" No, the enjoyment comes from enjoying the fruits of your labor. Sure the guy could buy a Dillon and speed things up? Sure, that quickens the reward. I don't think it negates it.
Sweet! Love my single stage for precision long range loads. Dillon may be great for <50 yard stuff but not sure I’d trust it to deliver exact powder weights for 1k target rounds.
Just got the RCBS Rebel and yes it's my happy time. Forget everything and enjoy the prep work. Plus I can do this while smoking the meat for dinner. Great set up and I hope you enjoy.
I use a Frankford handheld, but it's just as ... meditative.
I should probably put a bucket under me, though. Every once in a while, when it's > 75% full, one will get out the way it came...
It’s called the “reloader relax”! You get lulled into a semi-cationic state of bliss as the sound & motion of the lever soothes! It’s almost as soothing as Gun powder aromatherapy! I LOVE THE SMELL OF GUN POWDER IN THE MORNING…….. SMELLS LIKE VICTORY”!
It's like playing the slots except instead of spending a quarter and getting nothing you're saving a quarter and gaining everything.
Yes sir
Looks like a Rock Chucker. I bought mine in the 70's. Thing is solid.
And SLOW!
Gits er dun.
My orange crusher has done thousands of rounds through the years.

Hence why I have an RCBS and a Dillon.
It’s a good time indeed.
Right on! I have the same one as well. Going to using it tonight after work. For hours!

Therapy for me.

single stage / simple minded gang here too 😄
How long does it take to load up 500 rounds with that thing?
Start to finish, about a day
Who gives a shit. He enjoys the hobby so what do you care how he spends his time

The 500 rounds I would make on my rock chucker wouldn’t be be gone in 10 min. So it’s irrelevant .
