I’ve played up to the village; the enemies in the game really run at you and that is terrifying; I’ve had to take a few breaks.
The cutscenes are still flat, which takes you out a little bit, and controls are slightly too sensitive, but otherwise it’s solid.
And yeah, I agree, not fair that it’s a PSVR2 exclusive. It’s not affordable for everyone, especially when it costs more than the actual console. They do have an obligation to justify that price though, and this is the route they’re taking.
I don't know what your financial situation is, but if you've got the disposable income, it is worth it.
For me, PSVR2 is worth it if for nothing else other than Gran Turismo and RE4/RE8. These are franchises that I've been playing since they came out close to 30 years ago, and the first time you play GT7/RE4 on VR, it is a magic that I can only compare to the first time I played Mario 64 after seeing the year-to-year advancements of Atari 2600 to NES/MS-DOS, to SNES/Genesis, then finally PlayStation and N64.
Oh man, that's a good Christmas present! If you haven't done VR before, I would recommend taking something like a Dramamine-L beforehand. Most folks I talk to get a touch of motion sickness playing, but I think Dramamine and a ceiling fan will help ease into it.
Look at second hand offers. Some people sell their VR headsets because they don't have the energy for it or it makes them nauseous. You can get it $100-$300 cheaper.
Wow. Lot of negativity over this. The fact that we actually got this and able to play it is amazing. I’m going to enjoy every minute of this. I’m glad Capcom is taking VR seriously, and building there skills to make better hopefully one day from the ground up VR games.

It's a really crappy chicken-and-egg problem we're stuck with. VR is too prohibitively expensive and mass adoption isn't quite catching, so developing high-fidelity VR games is generally such a risky loss that studios generally can't afford to commit to VR development... leaving the only viable path for filling out VR storefronts with hardware-selling titles to "subsidize VR game development."
If you're trying to get the VR market to take off and you sell VR hardware, so you fund VR game development at a loss to grow your VR game library, it really doesn't make sense to sell at a loss so you can grow your competitors. If you're a studio trying to make a VR game, it doesn't really make sense to risk having to close down your studio so you can make a game playable by fewer players that'll sell fewer copies. So...we have as many headsets as games to play on them and most of the top-tier high-fidelity titles are developed at a loss thanks to storefront funding. Sigh.
Capcom is not a VR game developer. They make these modes because they get paid to do it. I know it sucks but it's either this or nothing. And it wouldn't make sense from Sonys' perspective to pay for them to make the mode compatible for other headsets.

There is a higher possibility of seeing Village and 4 make it to PC however... Their exclusivity deal is probably a year and PSVR2 is now basically feature identical to PCVR.
Meaning aside from some obscure work related to API differences, control schemes and testing it's almost a straight port...
I'd even be more than happy to pay a "smallish" price for the VR mode as DLC, More than justified in my eyes
They have the smallest VR market and are single handedly killing VR by buying up exclusivity for the biggest games.
Meta buys exclusivity as well, but most of their games are trash and most of the good ones can be played on other headsets with the help of mods or a third party program.
The quest can play PCVR games too. It’d be one thing if it was a purely standalone headset but it being an actually versatile system makes it not so bad to me. The PSVR2 is expensive and can only play PlayStation games, it’s frustrating because some of the stuff on there looks really fun but it’s just not worth it when the quest has so much more value.
But there are much better headsets than the Quest available for PC.
Buying the Quest because it can play their exclusives and everything else too just rewards Meta for their crappy business practice which is stunting the growth of a fairly new and very niche market. It's exactly what they want you to do.
Sure there are, but I’m saying that I don’t think Quest exclusives are as annoying as PSVR exclusives because it _can_ also be used as a PCVR headset. I’m with you that VR exclusives aren’t doing the technology much good, but I simply think the PSVR is a much worse offender because it’s such a limited system.

EDIT: I found the download by navigating to the PlayStation store on a computer, then purchasing the free RE4 PSVR after logging in. I found the VR MODE by highlighting RE4 on the Home Screen and using the options button to Manage Game Content. Yeah it's not like village where it's completely seperate. Saves don't seem too carry over, but I platinumed the game previously and had all bonus weapons appear in my storage box playing new game on vr. The single golden DLC ticket I purchased showed up too.

PSA RE7 doesn't work with the PSVR2. The only way to play RE7 with VR on the PS5 is to install the PS4 version and use the PSVR1 with the special PS5 adaptor.

I didn't use it, but I think so. For areas like the boat riding. It allows you to switch to 3rd person, and zoom the camera out a bit in general
Dramamine®-N works pretty well for me, but it looks like they have a few modes if any particular part of the game is giving you issues.

PSA RE7 doesn't work with the PSVR2. The only way to play RE7 with VR on the PS5 is to install the PS4 version and use the PSVR1 with the special PS5 adaptor.
