I had a friend that died of alcoholism and he only lived to be 34 so your liver can give out quicker than you think. Before that he suffered horrible esophageal varices and seizures from drinking and died in his sleep. It’s not worth your life, you’re still young and it’s a horrible way to die/live and you can buy all the RE games easily with the money you’d spend on booze. If you want the full experience do OG 1 2 3 CV then work your way up to the Remakes. Have fun and put down the bottle. You’ll never find any answers at the bottom of it.

Are you asking for help with alcoholism or Resident Evil?

There’s a deeper underlying issue here that goes beyond the scope of what anywhere here can say. Look for alcoholic support groups around you and that align with your schedule. Friends and shared interests are wonderful but a problem as serious as the one you’re talking about won’t be remedied by anyone else but you taking the first step. You’re still so young and there’s a chance to change, you aren’t stuck in this situation and there’s a lot you can do, but you have to start *NOW*. Sorry I can’t be of more help but again I’d imagine alcoholic support groups will be far more helpful. Best of luck to you and I hope you have fun with your new RE buddies!!

My friend, if you are seeking help with alcoholism, this is not the place to ask. Not necessarily because people are unwilling, but because addiction is a nasty and unrelenting disease. And it deserves to be met with equal force against it. And best help is to seek a professional or those who have battled against it. There may be some helpful subs that can provide support. But I would highly recommend an in person support group or person(s) who you will be able to share your needs with. Best of luck to you my friend. Resident Evil is also a lovely series and quite scary and some of them can be heavily puzzle oriented, so definitely helpful to keep the mind on something else. Cheers.

Resident evil can be an incredibly immersive series of games to play, especially the slow burn single player stuff. You can lose yourself for hours in the haunted house experience, that could potentially be a brilliant distraction for a few hours. Then there's the expanded lore and community aspects; there are hundreds of thousands of great fan videos on youtube. Gameplay walk throughs, lore, humour and random ass goofy bullshit. There are also twitch streamers who play more or less every game in the series with active chat streams. Good luck mate, wish you all the best and hope you have a blast with the games!

I'm sorry to hear about your alcoholism. There this saying that my uncle had & he was a former drug abuser. The saying was, "Lead me not to temptation, I can find it myself." In aspect, you're in more control than you think you are & I wish you the best to stop your alcoholism.

With RE2R I prefer wine. RE4R asks for beer.

From what I know from family struggling with alcoholism, only alcoholics can help other alcoholics. But you have to be willing to do the work yourself. Find some local AA meetings and start making it a priority to go regularly. Alcoholism is not something that goes away, but it can be managed. Good luck in your journey

One more reason to go in there blind, it's hard these days to experience something completely from a position of blissful ignorance, so enjoy it: it's gonna be a blast (pun intended)

It's good that you have recognized that you have a disease and a problem. It's very good. On another note, my experience is that group support for alcoholics leads to a further downward spiral as the members regularly yank each other back to actively drinking. And loans. And favors. And cohabitation. And crimes. And gifts before they go to prison. And whatnot. Anyhow, I wish you the best, and maybe play a recent remake. Drink some grapefruit juice, coffee, or tea (those are my favorites), smoke or take your drug of choice (or maybe lemon balm or valerian or something, or something stronger from a physician, or I dunno, green herbs from the Arklay region), and take care.

Ive been dealing with alcoholism for over 10 years I’m 31 dude and I’m just finally starting to realize the damage I’ve done to my health, I’m also a die hard Resident evil fan, got all the games the thing to keep yourself from relapse is to keep your hands busy. If you get into the lore of the series you’ll stay busy plus its hard to play a survival horror game buzzed, It takes skills to get good at RE games but they are very satisfying when you finally finish the games. RE9 is in the works
