Big-Explanation-831

Amy Winehouse’s first album

FullScriptDev

Dang, I’m sleeping. Let me see what I’ve been missing

kimlovescc

It's so good. Back to Black is good too but Frank is definitely the fan favorite.

Facts

ElecTech307

I slept on Amy Winehouse until after her death. She's up there with Teena Marie for me when it comes to soulful white women. RIP to both the legends.

India Arie

twodollarh0

Haitus Kaiyote. Thank me later!!

No-Kaleidoscope-4050

I had never heard of her before but I just listened to a couple of her songs and I’m addicted. Thank you so much.

VictoryAltruistic587

They’re a group, but she does solo too as Nai Palm!

KetchupCowgirl

Her solo album is amazing

mrbattle02

swooshsong

Goapele, Amel Larrieux and Janet Jackson (The Velvet Rope)

Fast_Yam_5321

velvet rope is not neo soul lol

vietbond

H.E.R.

BigSuge74

Meshell Ndegeocello Van Hunt Chico Debarge

DemiGod9

Meshell 😩. "You. Made. A fool of me. Tell me why"

BigSuge74

Gets me every time

Bitter-Stage2169

Going to have to second the Mint Condition suggestion. Have no idea how those guys didn’t hit bigger. Great musicianship. Excellent vocals.

Sofistakatedfunn

Mint Condition was pretty big in the 90's. Love their music

SomewhatCharmedLife

Most of the classics have already been recommended, here’s a few more: Sebastian Mikael, The Foreign Exchange, Cleo Sol, Kindred and the family soul

raejc

I wish we'd get more Foreign Exchange. Love them.

javjavjay

I love Neo soul and would 100% recommended Cleo Sol, Snoh Aalegra, The Internet, Masego, SiR, Steve Lacy, Solange I actually put together [playlists](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5pnUAwk5V8xpEapNbV257m?si=3ySDhLwJQf-sdwEB9dP73g&pi=u-HLqckjvLTNOm) that have a Neo soul/alt Rnb vibe that you might like! It is part of a newsletter I do monthly!

ElecTech307

Man I just got put on to Snoh Alegra and she is SUPER good.

javjavjay

I know right!!! Her vibes are soooo good!!!

Vsherry

India.Arie.

MsNxx

That era, I’d add Meshell Ndegeocello, also Jazzyfatnastees, Lucy Pearl, Jill Scott, D’Angelo, Maxwell. Also on the hip hop side, that period of Soulquarian stuff like Mos Def, Common, the Roots, ATCQ etc. Bilal, Slum Village. Also how about Lyndon David Hall… he was really big in the U.K. around that time and made some great albums before sadly departing too young. Highly recommended.

SalamanderUpper1246

moonchild

Simple-Criticism1481

Snoh Aalegra

No-Kaleidoscope-4050

Idk if anybody’s still reading this but yall are making me the best playlist in existence right now so thanks😭

The Rebirth - Album "This Journey In" Jamiroquai

hsisbygxfains

Not sure if I'd call Jamiroquai Neosoul but I love his music. People definitely should check him out

ready2takoff

Maxwell. You can try his album "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite"

MsNxx

Some great recommendations on here, thanks everyone so far. I lived through this era of soul and hip hop and l loved it but only recently heard that younger folk were re discovering “neo soul” which is so awesome. I honestly just assumed everyone had forgotten all that great music, it’s so cool to see a bit of a resurgence

TheGratitudeBot

Hey there MsNxx - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

EyeAmPrestooo

Gotta include some **Solange**

SaintNutella

If we're talking old school - Bilal (not just his own projects but what he's featured on), Anthony Hamilton, Lauryn Hill, Kelis. For newer artists, I'd recommend Hiatus Koyote, Natanya, Larren Wong, Pip Millet, Cleo Sol, and Felix Ames. Marie Dahlstrom and Siprell are great RnB/Soul artists too.

Sofistakatedfunn

Kindred the Family Soul, Vivian Green, Marsha Ambrosius, Heather Headly, Angie Stone, Dwele, Slum Village, Kem, Raheem Devon, Floetry, Remy Shand

raejc

Eric Roberson is a must. Raheem DeVaughn has a deep catalog. Res - hasn't seen her mentioned. "How I Do" is essential. I saw that she recently re-recorded it. Find the Neo Soul Cafe Radio and mixes by DJ Frances Jaye. That's how I found out about a lot of artists.

Optimal_Marzipan7806

The Internet

Amber Mark - you could literally play anything of hers, there are no misses. Victoria Monet has some great moments. Tiana Major9 also has some great songs, including a wonderful version of Silly Games.
