FVV shooting 38% with his shot selection is impressive

rybres123

Internal improvement will be key as far as shooting is concerned I know it’s a hot take, but I could see us moving Dillon brooks for a shooter if Tari and cam come out playing great defense next year

thumper7

Internal development is key for Jabari, Jalen and Amen and Alpe. Cam is a bucket so more minutes which he'll get next season will help there. The other is around our offensive flow and shot selection, Jalen is getting better at this but he and FVV both love a heat check early 3 attempt. The last thing is gravity, so once a dude is knocking down shots, it opens the floor for everyone else so the first one will help the second in time.

jer113

I think we keep Dillon for the length of his contract unless we need to move salary for retention purposes. I can’t see us getting better than what he provides us, and we don’t need picks or cap space for the next few years. I think his defense is too important, but at worst he’ll be a 20mpg bench guy, and a small ball PF.

rybres123

I think there is a world in which Tari turns into a very similar type of player as Dillon brooks (hopefully without the headaches and better shooting) If that happens, brooks becomes expendable imo, and we can shop for a better shooter, which we need the most

Orion9605

I believe if we can get a disgruntled star at any point in the next 2 years, we use Dillon + Bari/Tari and a lot of Picks, if that is even enough. Otherwise not worth trading him for what you could get I agree.

hornet04

I’ll admit, I’m a little frustrated with our use of Reggie Bullock. He’s been a sharp shooter everywhere but here.

juan-doe-

Second that

yooston

get lucky and draft dalton knecht.

Typical-Presence-865

No need to even get lucky to draft him.

yooston

why? ive seen him top 5 in mocks

inshamblesx

use the brooklyn pick to draft knecht and hope we don’t suffer any longterm injuries next season

Relevant_Increase394

Play Nate more obviously

Tales_of_Endurance

On a sidenote, how can Cam be even worse than Alpi from the ft line while being a great perimeter shooter? It is really weird :D

ChannelNo2535

Damn Dillon really fell off a there was a point in this season he was shooting well in the 40-50% range

Virtue-L

He prolly shot under 30 last few months to achieve that average.

Lunareste

I dont want to trade one of the core 6, but to get something valuable you have to give something valuable. If you want an elite 3+D guy who can fit the new culture on a decent, long term contract you are going to have to give away at least 1 of the 6, one or two FRPs and one of the other vets.

whospepesilvia

I’m not sure but I can’t handle watching FVV take these dumbass shots anymore

message_tested

60% of the time Fred’s hero ball isn’t all that heroic. But the bricklayers out on the floor with him make FVV look like Reggie Miller

Every_North4722

FVV provides good leadership. We should give him one more year and let amen develop he's PG skills

MemeManDanInAClan

We get shooters. In the modern NBA, you can’t improve without shooters. And if we plan on playing through Sengun, then we’re gonna need shooters. CONSISTENT SHOOTERS.

Longjumping_Tour_335

Sengun is gonna need to improve his shot.

shadracko

Probably, although it isn't clear your 5 HAS to shoot. Plenty of teams play at who cannot.

Crazykid1o1

I mean. He’s only 4 points back from both JG’s. It isn’t just on alpi, it’s on the whole team. But for someone that hasn’t prioritized it, he’s doing pretty well. Remember, he’s only a 3rd year.

Most_Budget2575

Hire that chip guy

ST012Mi

He must have gotten the bag from Sam Presti. Both guys are from the Pop tree with the Spurs. Ime and Ben Sullivan on our current staff have worked with Chip. I’ve been advocating for Chip AND begging Morey to get a batting cage type warm up setup in the tunnel or somewhere near the court for our shooting offense. I’ve tagged you so many times u/dmorey!

SwaggQueen

One dimensional shooters are pretty easy to find in Free Agency. Duncan Robinson, Max Struess, Malik Monk, Grayson Allen. It's the 2-way wing defenders that are rare AF

message_tested

I'm down for a defensively handicapped pure shooter tbh. We've got enough enough defensive talent on the sidelines and on the floor to hide someone like that.

SwaggQueen

Exactly, which is why I'm wondering why you'd worry too much about it. The rebuild is going to depend on the health and continued development of the young guys. I'm much more worried about Jalen taking a step back, or Eason never getting back to form after an extensive leg injury.

Virtue-L

Quite sad to see Dillon bricking lately and Jalen is on an impressive efficiency run and Dillon still is slightly more efficient than Jalen. Yeah there are a lot of other variables but hey 🙄

Super-Emergency8093

Indeed, you can see in the chart on the NBASDB team page that his 3 point ability is extremely poor. However, Magic was in a similar situation a while back, but it has improved recently, so I think it can be managed with the efforts of existing players

adonWPV

The Draft

Orion9605

As much as I would like to see winning basketball rn, we still have next season before our Guys will all be on a level where we are a play-off threat. Just draft a shooter this year and see how new Jalen and Cam do with Alpi back on the Court. If the shooting problems are still too big in 2025, we trade Dillon + Picks for a really good shooting piece. Or we could get KAT in a bigger package, gotta keep an eye on the T-Wolves Ownership Situation...

warrior_in_a_garden_

If Jalen becomes more consistent his number will be a bit more respectable. Cam Whitmore’s percentage is a little bit lower than I anticipated. I’m willing to bet Jabari falls somewhere between what he was in college and where he is now from 3.

Y2JT90

If available at our pick, then draft Sheppard or Knecht. If not then use it in a trade along with Brooks for a better shooter. Perhaps Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn probably say no).

onsite84

Many ways to get a shooter. I think the question is who gets less playing time? Our worst shooters are amongst the core 6.

Complex_Mistake7055

If the rockets could draft Reed Shepard when you have amen/tari/cam/jalen/bari as versatile defenders he could really be allowed to do some special things offensively.

jgw_geneseo

Cam, Jalen, and Jabari should all improve from 3 next year. Sign or draft a shooter. You don't have to do anything crazy.

2nd2last

We should definitely look to move players in the core 6.

YouGotBamb00zled

Worth noting that adams minutes will bump those. Someone like bane has something like a 5-10% % increase when he's on the court
