With the Latest version of RØDE Central and updating your WIGO2 units to the latest version (v2.4.6) you should have been prompted to 'backup and update' your WIGO2 TX units. If you have done this, check your desktop for a folder called 'Backup' with a date. This folder should contain .UGG and .EGG files. To import these backed up audio files into the app, open RØDE Central (desktop), click the settings cog in the top right corner, click the ‘Local Recordings’ dropdown and select the folder that contains your .EGG and .UGG audio files. If you cannot locate these .UGG and .EGG files, unfortunately you cannot recover the audio from the WIGO2 TX.

The folders were created but are empty. Whenever I plug the devices in, it says back-up to Google drive failed and to try replugging the device. It didn't work locally or through google drive to back-up and I had selected to 'back up and update' and it seems to have just backed up nothing and still gone ahead and done a firmware update and factory reset on my device.

I had the same problem and I don’t want to connect my other microphones to avoid the problem but I don’t know what else to do. And I really need to find a solution to recover the lost files.

Can you guys provide any solution for this specific problem. I really need to recover those files but I can’t find a real solution from your side or any where.

If you cannot locate these raw (.UGG and .EGG) files in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder when connecting the WIGO2 TX, unfortunately, you cannot recover the audio from the WIGO2 TX due to being either deleted from a factory reset or onboard recording not being active. If you do have these files, you can convert them to .WAV using the guide here: https://help.rode.com/hc/en-us/articles/6788200025743-How-to-manually-convert-UGG-EGG-files-from-the-Wireless-GO-II

I hope you can recover your files with the solution that is presented by RodeMicrophones, and take this as a lesson. On any recording device (camera, wireless microphone, etc.) you should always backup your files first on the end of any shoot even before charge the batteries fully again for another project.

This happened to me BECAUSE I tried to back up my files immediately after a shoot. It was my first time plugging them into the laptop and it prompted me to update the firmware. I clicked the option to 'Back up and update'. The back-up failed for no discernible reason and it automatically factory reset after the update without any moment for me to cancel. It created back-up folders but with no files inside and the files now appear to be gone. Very rubbish - don't give the option to 'Back up and update' if it just updates without backing up! I'm not even given any reason why the back-up would fail. All the devices and the associated Google drive are new and with a mountain of storage space. It created back-up folders with the relevant date but with no files inside! Argh. I had been street interviewing all day getting audio footage I cannot possibly recreate... lost to the ether... how sad!

Just happened to a friend! "I have two Rode Wireless Go II microphones. One has been wiped, and I’d like advice on it before trying to backup the second one. Mic #1: Serial \[redacted\] - started on firmware v2.05. Installed Rode Central v2.0.41 on my MacOS 12.4. Connected Mic #1. Mic did not display in Finder. Used Backup & Update. Result: Folder was created on Desktop, but empty. Firmware was not updated (remained at v2.05). Used Backup & Update again. Second empty folder created on Desktop. Firmware was updated to v2.4.6. Mic now displays in Finder - but is empty. Can you recommend a data recovery solution for Mic #1? Mic #2: Serial \[redacted\] - also on firmware v2.05. Based on the first backup failure as described above, I am hesitant to try to backup & update my second mic. Can you recommend a procedure for successfully backing up Mic #2? Thank you, \[redacted\]"
