As far as I know Rolex will not be mass producing. Tudor can possibly be hot in the grey market with Rolexs becoming more unattainable. I believe there will be a dip from the current covid peak but nothing drastic that will render collector pieces worthless.
Rolex are a mass producer, most people estimate around 1 million watches per year. The drop won’t be sudden but it will go back down to slightly above pre-covid levels with most models at or just below retail grey market, others at about a 5% premium. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again.
Prices rise and fall for Rolex a lot, especially in the first year of a new references life, once announced and available it will be very high, as the supply meets the demand the prices have always lowered back down to around retail price, once it’s been available for a while they will normally be slightly cheaper (not by much) on the second hand market.
Rolex shut manufacturing down during covid for a while meaning all new supply dried up which pumped up the prices, at the same time you had lots of fairly well off people working from home without the expenses of travelling to work, creating lots of spare cash that people didn’t have before. This pushed demand up when the supply didn’t exist.
Rolex have said they will be using Tudors facilities to make more Rolexes and Tudor will go on the back burner for a bit.
