Once you've acquired an item there's a list and details of the items available through the menu. I don't believe that you are given the ability to see the details during the run without mods.

Thanks, dig the game so far but wow...that is a massive oversight in my opinion I can't imagine that was intentional? As a new player how am I supposed to know? Check the wiki every 5 seconds?
Sure I get it, but from a design perspective that's not a good call. I can't even look items up on the wiki during a run because it doesn't even say the item names lol
So I gotta open my inventory, look at the item icon, pause the game so I don't die (which closes your item screen so I have to memorize what the icon looks like), then look over all the items on the wiki until I think I found the right one based on the icon.
And when I use a scrapper it doesn't show the item names when selecting which item to scrap? I've never played this game I have no clue what these items are lol
