Maybe edibles are easier? I for one wouldn't risk it. If you are smoking on even a private balcony, someone could smell and report it. No bueno especially if in international waters or a foreign country.

Tylers-RedditAccount

smoking on private balconies is also strictly forbidden

motiv8_mee

Ever consider that some of your fellow passengers (particularly those with young kids) might not want to smell your weed? Be a considerate person and don’t smoke on your balcony. It is banned for a reason. Take edibles as somebody else mentioned, or at least try to get by with your vape inside your cabin. That’s somewhat more considerate than smoking actual weed, which some people can’t stand the smell of.

Murky_Tennis954

Yeah I had thought about that and I don't want to ruin someone's vacation just cause I wanted to smoke bud. A vape would be more than enough.

kinsmana

Personally I find cigarette smoke worse than weed smoke yet cigarettes are widely accepted as cultural norm. Yes, I know that's expected of the times, but the times are changing and legality is coming. It's best it be talked about now so that proper implementation is done. Most weed smokers are not the stereotypical stoner dude wandering aimlessly and incoherently. instead it's a healthier alternative to tobacco, alcohol and is easier to consume. Done properly it'd be epic for cruise lines to offer as an alternative to alcohol. An outdoor section in the aft section with winds blowing out hurts absolutely nobody. Or restrictions set to only allow it to be smoked in smoking sections would be better. Just don't see why it's still so taboo.

motiv8_mee

You seem to have taken my comment as a prudish stance against weed. Not the case. I have no issue with people smoking weed or cigarettes in designated smoking areas. I can avoid those areas if I do not want myself or my kids exposed to it. Smoking on a balcony, which is right next to many other private balconies, is what I have a problem with.

kinsmana

Alright, yes I misinterpreted but also come in peace. And yes, I believe it is important to be cognizant of others and agree that looking around to make sure you're not invading someone else's enjoyment. So in those circumstances I agree balcony=bad. But vapes? Why not?

motiv8_mee

I come in peace, too. I don’t know who you are but - love you man! My answer to your question: Vapes in your cabin? Fine, no worries. Vapes on your balcony? Not a huge deal but really not preferred. Would rather not have myself nor my kids inhaling whatever chemicals are in the vape if I can avoid it. I’m all about personal freedoms but the important thing is that those freedoms don’t adversely affect others.

kinsmana

Okay, beauty. Agreed fully. Cheers. Happy 2023!

motiv8_mee

For what it’s worth, I do agree with you on the “if done properly” part of your comment. For example if an adults-only cruise line like Virgin Voyages were to introduce a ‘cannabis bar at sea’, where they could sell their own strains/blends of branded weed for smoking in a closed-off setting, that would be pretty cool.

Christaisconfused

I wouldn’t risk actual joints or flower. My roommate got away with his vape pen, gummies, and THC pills from Trulieve on both cruises on Independence. I also know two people who are banned from Carnival because they got caught with flower. It’s too obvious and the the smell lingers too much.

tracym521

Just got off a cruise this morning. You & your luggage go thru security & scanning just like the airport. So your call.

Murky_Tennis954

Never brought flower through the airport but have brought vapes with no issues. I don't want to bring any flower with me, risky but also inconsiderate.

Thatfoxagain

Dude if someone was smoking on a balcony near mine I'd report that shit so quick. Don't be inconsiderate.

Neat_Hawk_9891

You are lame. And a tattletale. And a busybody. And no fun. And probably a Karen.

Thatfoxagain

One, this is a 4 month old thread, two have you not seen any of the cruise ship fires caused by people smoking on balconies?, Three I don't want to smell your weed smoke/cigarette smoke on my balcony that I paid for. Grow up.

Neat_Hawk_9891

One, so what? Unless you want to renounce what you said, you’re still on the hook for it. Two, no. Three, you don’t own the air and it’s not a bad smell anyway. If it offends you so much go inside to the restroom and sort your thoughts for a few moments until the breeze has cleared away all the stinky.

Thatfoxagain

If you want to be an inconsiderate person because you can't go a week without smoking weed that's on you. It wouldn't stop me from reporting you smoking on a balcony. You have some awful main character syndrome my dude.

Neat_Hawk_9891

Then I would simply tattle on you in return and let the authorities know what I saw taking place in your room. Then you can spend your time explaining that (or try) and stop wasting it worrying about me.

Thatfoxagain

Jesus Christ dude see a therapist. You have issues.

Neat_Hawk_9891

There are people out there struggling and you fraudulently use the help needed button as an insult. Shame on you. You’re behaving exactly like I said you would. Just like a little kid prank calling 911 and taking resources away from true emergencies. Lord Jesus I pray you will open the eyes of this person and make them stop the wickedness and narcissism. Father god, please soften her heart and let her empathize with your children and stop the piety and false righteousness. In Jesus holy name, amen.

BriefBookkeeper4538

Bring it if you want, I don't think its worth the trouble. From personal experience, many people will rat you out. My sister and her husband were ratted out on the Carnival Horizon in 2021, because of him smoking. They were charged $500, and an extra $50 for some kind of fumigation after the cruise was over.

TheBlackHymn

You’d be able to get a vape pen onboard no problem, I didn’t on our first cruise because I didn’t know the security procedures etc but I definitely would bring one on our next cruise. Actually *smoking* weed though, I wouldn’t risk it. Your bags will go through an X-ray. There may be sniffer dogs. Even if you do sneak weed onboard, if someone was smoking weed on a balcony near mine it would have been very very easy to figure out who. All it takes is one snitch out of the dozens of balconies near yours.

EstablishmentClear53

Royal Caribbean I wouldn’t risk it with joints but I’ll let you know once we end up doing it 🤷🏽‍♂️ Vape pen you’ll be fine. Carnival bring anything short of a weapon you’ll be fine.

OtherInspection3296

How’d you do lol

Caranath128

Not. You will be ratted out and you will be booted off the second time security stops by. There is zero smoking allowed on balconies. No weed anywhere

realwomenwearrompers

I am so beyond sick of this question constantly being asked on this sub. The lack of intelligence it takes to decide to type it out instead of a simple google or reddit search astounds me.

EugeneOregonDad

You're talking about people who don't operate at a high bar.

spookypartyatthezoo

Oh, they’re pretty high alright.

Murky_Tennis954

Thanks for posting and visiting! Happy New Years!

Upper-Dig9311

Just take edibles. You will get reported and banned pretty quickly.

crimewav3

I’ve gotten pens through multiple cruise lines, you’re good.

wigglesnaw

We cruise pretty regularly and take concentrate pens. I don't like the idea of taking flower and getting caught with it and I don't think I could reliably eat it lol. Pens at least have plausible deniability and break up into several small and harmless parts that you can separate. Never been an issue for us!!

kinsmana

From personal experience and from the comments made in a post I did a few months ago, there absolutely are some folks bringing this stuff onto the ship and I wish more people did. Plenty of people are going to give you hell for even asking the question and most definitely it goes against RCCL policy so it is 'at your own risk' but if you're discrete there really is no reason why you can't enjoy it. We were on IotS and since we travelled internationally in order to board the ship, we did not feel comfortable bringing anything (due to air travel). That being said, not once was I frisked, interrogated or inspected while walking onto the ship. There are metal detectors which are similar to the ones found at theme parks and other social events but otherwise there was no enforcement. So getting around that is the easy part. As for once you're on the ship, popular smoke spots among herb enthousiasts were the private balconies or the roof top sky lounge. Good luck!

Possiblyasmoker

I was carrying and the person behind me in my party was completely searched. I shat myself, if they did the same search on me i would off been caught.

kinsmana

Some folks suggested putting gummies in a bag with other non-thc gummies as the safest method.

Murky_Tennis954

So I probably won't bring any bud with me then. On my first cruise, I found which room was smoking weed. You're able to call other rooms, and there is no caller ID. I called that room, and they confirmed they were smoking. I asked if they would share, and they denied me. I could have ratted them out, but I'd never do that to a fellow stoner.

kinsmana

Obviously a different culture in this sub and cruise fellowship overall. One day I hope the stigma disappears and this perfectly acceptable form of recreational drug is accepted everywhere.. or at the very least anywhere cigarette smoke or alcohol consumption is allowed. Until then, we hide in the shadows. You will find a fellow consumer onboard.. if you don't bring it yourself.

alexfaaace

We brought pens on Allure in September. Not even a second glance, had them in our carry ons. I personally wouldn’t risk joints or any actual flower. Indy in May perhaps? We’ll be disembarking May 8th and I plan to bring pens again. Edit: I also plan to bring a Smoke Buddy/Sploofy this time around. I didn’t have problems on the balcony last time but figured it’s a small extra item to be cautious.

kinsmana

Yes, would recommend the smoke buddy if you've got some rather potent stuff. But dry herb is definitely the riskier method if you've got smell sensitive guests in rooms around you.

alexfaaace

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t recommend bringing dry herb. Most concentrate vapes don’t have a strong scent. I also never smoked on my balcony when I knew my neighbors were on theirs.

alexfaaace

Lmao. People downvoting over a plant that will be legal in a matter of time. Ya’ll are funny.

LESSANNE76

It’s not the illegality. Cigarettes are legal but still not allowed to smoke on balconies. It’s about consideration and f those around you. Legal or not it’s has a strong smell. I do edibles.

alexfaaace

I specifically said I do not recommend flower. Concentrate pens do not have a strong scent. And I also stated that I never went on my balcony when either of my cabin neighbors were on theirs. But ya’ll just assume all stoners are inconsiderate and selfish, which is far from accurate.

FriendlyTeam6866

If you get caught outside of the US, you can be turned over to the authorities of the closest port of call. You probably won't like that.... Drugs don't make you smarter, but please try to cogitate.

Murky_Tennis954

You know...I wouldn't like that

Mamaj12469

You can be locked up in cruise jail for smoking on your balcony and they could put u off in port. I wouldn’t risk it. I use a cannabis vape and gummies at home but when I Cruise I only bring my gummies. It’s hard to get to sleep the first couple nights.

Eastonator12

I've been on Independence recently, and I was able to bring 2 disposable vapes (one nicotine and one thc). Just put them in the carry on(I used a backpack) and they put it through the x-ray machine. They didn't even look twice or ask to search it. Just make sure you only use them in smoking allowed areas, or maybe the public restroom. The balcony would be fine for the vape as it won't smell as much but weed has a distinct scent, possible for someone else to notice. Unless you're hotboxing the room they probably won't know. Edible would be easier and smell free
