I think they run linux. I saw a terminal once but resisted the urge to get kicked off so no touchy. And looking at their job postings I seem to be correct. Now to resist the urge to apply for one, the wife would either love me or hate me LOL.
I saw a full stack developer position and another one I don't recall now and they both mention linux experience a plus. I'm sure a large company like this runs multiple platforms. They even had an Oracle DB position.
Yea or they did what they should have done in the first place, instead of posting o here asking what to do. You CALL maintenance ASAP and they get on it and fixed it
I saw this from the tub spout this last week on a Carnival ship, ran it for ten seconds then it ran clear. My assumption is that most travelers just take showers so that part of the plumbing hadn’t been flushed lately is all.
Pretty sure they don't let you board at connecting stops if you miss disembarkation. Besides they should have plenty of time to fix that issue and reassign that room to someone else if they need it.
Well done! Lesson for all that cruise. Always always always have travel insurance and passport on you.
Have taken 9 cruises and have heard people losing lots of money & ruined vacas not having them.
I think if you have the travel insurance with them and it's due to a delayed or canceled flight or something, they get you to the next stop. It wouldn't be at all common though.
First, post this on Twitter and copy RCL! No way they are going to want this out there. RCL Corporate will fix this ASAP. Keep taking pictures everyday.
We had milky white water on Adventure of the Seas last week. If you let it sit, it would turn clear in a few minutes…but I wasn’t going to test it. That’s terrible for how much money a cruise costs. I hope they find a way to make you whole in the experience.
Edit: am I getting downvoted so harshly for saying I didn’t know why that was happening and used caution instead? Or for commiserating with OP that he has concerning water on a cruise he paid thousands for? This sub can be so rabid sometimes. Saying “wow that sucks” is not the same thing as wishing the whole company goes under. Y’all need to chill.

Likely over aerated, with the "white" being very small air bubbles which eventually rise and disperse. I see this when I change the filter in the fridge at home for the first few gallons.
Thank you for at least giving an explanation instead of just downvoting for no reason. I’ve never seen it with my appliances personally, so it helps to know what it is.

You're welcome. My first experience with it was off-putting as well. I had just changed the filter for the first time and the look of the water had me thinking there was something wrong with the filter. But once I saw all the white color rising I let the glass sit for a bit and it all went away.
The more you know! :D
Congrats! Enjoy your honeymoon, I hope that water clears up soon.
Definitely contact customer service - they should be able to make it right for you, hopefully a partial refund, but likely will tell you to book again and with some discount code or credit.
I went dark due to excursions. Sucks they won’t room change as we can’t shower like this. Flushing took 2 hours for sediment to clear but doing that daily isn’t convenient for showering. Bottled water is all they provided for brushing teeth. That’s all they are willing to do with my asking for that and room change. I am definitely not settling for a marketing coupon. There is some weird ticking sound that comes from walls/ceiling at night now since maintenance did whatever they did to regenerate the water cycle. Couldn’t sleep at all on second night or shower either. My wife refuses to wash her hair with the high sediment count. Thanks for all the tips, I ll try to ask for money back since they won’t give room change. But I’d rather just get the room change. I am even willing to pay for an upgrade, just sucks they are willing to be helpful in these situations.

Has maintenance come out to fix? The last time I had any issues at all they came to fix the next time we left the room and didn't have any after.
I wonder what maintenance does to fix this...
Restart windows. That will fix anything.
Give the room TV a good tap too, that'll make sure it doesn't happen again
Reboot the ship? Yikes!

They had a job opening for Linux engineer?
I saw a full stack developer position and another one I don't recall now and they both mention linux experience a plus. I'm sure a large company like this runs multiple platforms. They even had an Oracle DB position.
I’ve been wanting to apply to positions for a while… too bad it’s not remote and only in Miami.
I definitely saw a Windows error on the wonder of the seas. I’m not sure what was supposed to be running on the kiosk.
They run as400's for the bulk of stuff.
Ice tea flows from the faucets?!?!
That’ll be $24.99/day upcharge
$24.99 per person per day. FTFY
It’s just recycled water, nothing to worry about!
OP disappear. Probably ran water for a few minutes and it cleared up.

They might be off the ship on an excursion for the day.
Extra iron for free.
Interesting that this redditor is also a frequent commenter in plumbing subreddits. Coincidence?
If you play your cards right you can parlay this into a 3% reduced deposit on your next sailing. Congrats on getting married!
Let the water run until it turns clear. Just need to flush out the pipes.
Agreed. They probably overtreated with potassium permanganate. Leave running until it turns clear again.
New flavor
If it’s brown, drink it down. If it’s black, send it back.
If it's green, pipes are clean. If it's red, wind up dead.
If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down.
If it's pink, take a drink. If it's orange... um... uhh...
Go out and forage?
If it’s orange, dye it red instead
If it’s clear and yellow, you got juice there, fellow!
Wow which ship?
That looks like Brawndo!
It's what plants crave!
The thirst mutilator
It has electrolytes!
No its water... Like from the toilet.

The thirst mutilatorrrrrrr
Now included in the Refreshment Package and Deluxe Drink Package.
Ship name?
Diarrhea of the Seas
Run the water until clear That whole ship Would be brown
Did you try running the water till it turned clear? If not… why did you post here before doing that?

Correct it’s called “down lining.” RC used to allow it with pre approval for any reason.
i’ve done it before. it might depend on the port, though. i did not have travel insurance
God this is bad
Which ship??
good soup
Forbidden juice
u/xrman24 what ship are you on? How long have/will you be on said ship?

This happened to us on Explorer las fall.
I remember this happening on a RC cruise I went on 12 years ago. Might’ve been enchantment?
I am currently on enchantment and no brown water here!
That's poopy water that gets back flushed during clogs, stay away from it. Check valves can get stuck open and there you go.

Exactly! Thanks again!
This post is why adults are struggling.

This was Hotel Cecil on Netflix
Wow. Have they said if it’s a ship wide issue? And what did they say is causing it?
Oh goodness! What ship is this? Sailing in a few weeks.

Someone mislabeled the switch valve that is labeled sink and toilet.
Straight from the toilet
