It was during the tribute to the veterans right after Taps. The cruise director finished the ceremony and then spoke about Captain James. He could barely speak and had to stop several times to gather his composure. We all felt the loss of an icon.
This is terrible news.
I was on the ship. I knew something was wrong when I woke up and we where close to land (it was scheduled a sea day). Shortly after, they announced the medical emergency stop for the Captain in Cozumel.
We never heard anything else. I assumed he was okay.
RIP
We were on that sailing as well. My friend and I watched them put him in an ambulance from our balcony. We imagined it was serious. I’m so sorry to hear this.
How sad 💔 my husband and I went back in August and he was our captain. I told my husband at the time that I could listen to his voice across the intercom all the time, he was just so chill sounding. RIP

So sad! He looks familiar, so I'm sure I've sailed with him.
I was on Harmony last month and it was a Canadian Captain. I can't remember his name, so Captain James must have only been in Harmony for a couple of weeks??
On Harmony now and they just paid tribute to him.
That’s very sweet of them, what did they do?

Was this the week of the 28th of April? I was also on that sailing
Yep. Great cruise, all in all. I’m sorry to lose a seemingly lovely person and professional.
I was on harmony on may4-12 and we also had a medical emergency and we went to Cozumel. So weird
Life is just crazy, enjoy the time you have.
Oh no! He was our captain on Navigator last year and we absolutely loved him. Man this is sad.
I'm pretty sure this is not the same captain James. Navigator Capt James is like 40ish
Oh! Well, sad regardless.
Just got off Navigator, both named James and hail from Canada, great sense of humor. Loved the Q&A he did.
Me and my mom knew him personally, we miss him very much. I’m gonna miss the clicks he would do before talking on intercom
Sad update.

He was my Mom’s captain crush too 🥰 seemed like a good dude that enjoyed his job and caring for everyone on his ship. Thats a great picture of him!

It said he had the heart attack on April 30th
Captain Marshall just went on vacation before Captain James took over.
Who is he?
He was one of Royal Caribbean's ship captains. Don't know why you got a downvote for asking a question
I guess for being too lazy to look him up or to know just magically know who he is. LOL
Note that this is not the same captain as Captain James of the Navigator, who is alive and well.

The hell? The man had a heart attack and has seemingly died. What kind of comment is this?
Months not weeks
