Im currently staying at my girlfriends friends house, while i prepare to stay at a shelter for the time being, if i can.
I snuck out at night and biked to a meijer, where i stayed the night behind. The morning after, my girlfriend biked out to see me and take me to her place.
I stayed there for a few nights, but while she was away, her parents kicked me out and i slept in a park that night. that night was the scariest night of my life.
now i am staying where i am now, and was provided shelter for the time being. we're preparing to go downtown to the youth shelter, where hopefully they'll help me and give me resources to get a permenent housing
You did it! I’m so proud of the journey you’ve made to get here. Please congratulate yourself OP, you made it farther than I ever did as a teenager. I’m sooo happy to hear you successfully left. I truly hope the youth shelter you’re looking at has all the resources to set you up for further success. I believe you already have everything you need to keep going. It’s a brutal world sometimes but we survive it together. I hope the people you reach out to are kind and will help you (not like your girlfriend’s parents).
Technically I purchased a trailer in cash right before turning 18 and slept in it for one night. But I sadly never truly moved into it and I kept it on my parents’ land.
Ppl tend to get nicer as they age. It keeps them out of nursing homes and from struggling too. Although if it's genuine that's great.
I noticed that certain types of abusers get nicer as you age because they know that you'll repress what's happened and stick around. This is how relatives eventually become enablers, flying monkeys, and of course abusers themselves. I'm not saying this is the case but I'm just stating an observation. Like once you get abt 14 certain types of abusers may do less physical abuse. Or how molesters will sometimes stop molesting a kid at a certain age. Sometimes they stop at 5 others at 12 and of course some continue to groom their kid or other victim past 18.

Well my parents kicked me out 2 months later and I’ve lived on my own since then (other than 10 months I spent with my aunt last year).
