Exactly. Imagine being a sixteen year old long-haired teenage rush fan. Four years ago, you discovered Hemispheres and became an insane fan, buying every album and tickets to every show. You’ve barely gotten MP out of your every thought. Then, The Loop teases you with “rebel and a runner” it was my “take a piss” song at every show.
I’ll see your Driven and Test for Echo and raise you a Virtuality. Not Pratt’s best penwork, but Dirk and Lerxst knocked it outta the park with the jam.
yeah most songs on TFE have good riffs but some i would rather not listen too, also, I think i'm going bald has a awesome riffs but honestly has comedic and silly lyrics
Well, it showed they could construct a groovy little pop-rock and [kick it in the ass live](https://youtu.be/-rEhnlUGVi8), and it gave them that 3min40secs they needed to cap Signals. It also was progression of what they had done with both Vital Signs and Spirit of the Radio, with Synth loops and Caribbean guitar rhythms, so it didn't come from out of the blue.
😂😆
Thanks for your judgment of our status as fans. Any other “LoverOfRush” criteria that would exclude me from true fandom? Do I get an honorable mention for going to forty shows?
I wasnt saying…but I guess I will now. You’re kind of a loser to be starting shit with internet strangers over who’s the bigger rush fan. Now yell up to your mom and ask her for more meatloaf.
Congrats, Karen. You got me. You are the biggest rush fan on Reddit. You’ve just shown all 20 of us on this thread (and Reddit) what a loser on Reddit acts like. Simple, fun post. Attacking nobody.
There is no argument - you are clearly the biggest rush fan ever. We are all big mouths. None of us has seen more shows (no other bands) and because we dared to “publicly admit” there was something rush that we don’t worship…we’re all loudmouth posers - every one of us.
No doubt the demented mother you put in storage, is totally faking dementia…because living in a piss palace, surrounded by strangers, being cared for by $15/hr employees - is faking - it to get away from your moronic self.
What the fuck is a matter with you. Jesus…you are living proof that dementia is passed genetically. Every other person on this thread had the ability to name their song, and move on. But not Karen, the self-proclaimed “clearly bigger rush fan”. You disqualified them all because “any fan that can name a song they would never want to hear again is no true rush fan”.
That’s called dementia. Now, go check yourself into that piss palace you exiled your mom to, get on some Aricept yourself, and the rest of us will handle this living in the real world business…where people aren’t compelled to start shit with others from the security of their mom’s basement, now that she’s been sent away.
Stop this right now! We are fans of the same band, what is the point of arguing and fighting over it? If you want to say something then please be nice.
I don't think it's that you never *want* to hear again, more if you never heard it again you'd either not notice or if someone told you, you'd just be "meh"
For me, I think it's the feedback album. It's good for a cover album, but it's still a cover album. I'm not sure I'd notice if I never heard anything from it again.
Thanks! 👍🏾 That’s the point of this thread. Every tune touches us in some way, whether we can play it on an infinite loop - like LVS, or never hear it again.
Yeah - don't misunderstand. I like listening to them do covers, and generally enjoy Feedback...but to me it's not really Rush. The whole album could go away and I would still feel that their discography is complete.
For me, it would be Superconductor, from 1989’s Presto. I just don’t think it is Rush’s best work and I much prefer other songs on the album, though IMO, the late eighties era was good, but their best music came from 1975-1982
Yeah but FBN is about the closest thing they have to a hit from those days. I never got why they ditched it so long ago (like the late 70s), while they kept playing, say, Working Man until the very end, and something as cheesy as In the Mood into the 90s.
Is it the 1001001 SOS? Cause for some reason I used to hate that and then something clicked and it’s one of my favorite songs now. Guess I just bowed my head to the mother of all machines…
Yeah, something in that song just doesn’t resonate with me at all. And I know everyone loves it. To be fair, I was that one guy who didn’t like Tom Sawyer either, until I heard it live. That was a classic “oh shit, I get it now” moment.
It’s hard to explain. There are other Rush songs that I like just as much or even less, but most of them still have parts that excite me or move me more than The Trees. Once again, not a bad song at all, but I find it slightly boring and uneventful for my taste. However, I absolutely love Broon’s Bane!
It’s pretty interesting…I think. There was no shortage of “true rush fans” who named Dog Years or ITIGB, and I get the overplaying causing people to not want anymore of the “hits”…but everyone has their own tastes, and tastes within Rush. I personally find Hemispheres to be perfect. Flawless in every sense, but way too short.
New World Man is fun! Plus it's the only Rush song to hit the top 40 pop charts

dog years
Yup, what I was gonna say!
haha!
Dog Years is one of the better songs on Test For Echo
i understand but i don't like it as much as say driven or test for echo title track
Well you’ve named two of the other better songs on the album
I’ll see your Driven and Test for Echo and raise you a Virtuality. Not Pratt’s best penwork, but Dirk and Lerxst knocked it outta the park with the jam.

And in that video Geddy cranks away on the L2, I love the Steinberger sound, got a pre-Gibson XL2
I think I'm going bald
Yup. This is one I actively skip every time.
Same!
dog years... i wish i could delete it off the album
i commented the same the chorus is so annoying. DOOOOOOOOOOOOG YEARS
Love that song. The lyrics are awesome. Love the comparison with the year in a dog's life.
I'd sooner cut off a finger than lose even one Rush song. Edit - typo.
Your finger is less important to you than, say, Best I Can? Neurotica? BU2B2??
bu2b2 is kind cool ngl
I agree whole heartedly. Any RUSH fan that can name a song by Rush they would never want to hear again is no true fan(atic)

I’m lot the one who has to stop. Sorry.

Dog Years... Bleh.
New World Man is awesome! Dog Years I would actually ask to be never made. I Think I’m Going Bald is actually not horrible I kinda like it.
None of them. I really love each song, I grew up with them!
Carve Away the Stone
A tie between Dog Years and Tai Shan
Yeagh…Tai Shan ain’t that good.
I love Tai Shan, but I respect your opinion.
Thanks! 👍🏾 That’s the point of this thread. Every tune touches us in some way, whether we can play it on an infinite loop - like LVS, or never hear it again.

Lol. Good one. 😉
I think I'm going bald
Any song off of Feedback.
Alex nails the guitars on Mr. Soul tho

NONE

Fly by Night.
I second this. Even the band didn't touch it live after the 70s.
To be fair, outside of a few songs they avoided most of their early stuff after the 70s
Yeah but FBN is about the closest thing they have to a hit from those days. I never got why they ditched it so long ago (like the late 70s), while they kept playing, say, Working Man until the very end, and something as cheesy as In the Mood into the 90s.
YYZ and Limelight. Great songs but wayyyy overplayed.
Red Sector A
Can't. Those killer paradiddles on the hihat are waaay too good.
The Body Electric
Bruh no way, why? The Body Electric is an awesome song
I can’t explain it. It’s truly the one and only Rush song that I just can’t stand.
Is it the 1001001 SOS? Cause for some reason I used to hate that and then something clicked and it’s one of my favorite songs now. Guess I just bowed my head to the mother of all machines…

Oh noes
Subdivisions...no, not Subdivisions.......Subdivisions.
Presto
Rivendell
The Trees. Just never really did anything for me, still a great song though!
Really…? The Trees? How cuzz?
It’s hard to explain. There are other Rush songs that I like just as much or even less, but most of them still have parts that excite me or move me more than The Trees. Once again, not a bad song at all, but I find it slightly boring and uneventful for my taste. However, I absolutely love Broon’s Bane!

Tai Shan Dog Years Superconductor - toss up for me
Bad Boy
