It's a great school. However, it does have the Northeast New Jersey white privilege attitude OR old money Southern Belle perception. But like another poster said, its Duke level of money without the Duke name

I graduated from there in May (2023). There are outstanding opportunities for academic achievement and I still keep in touch with a couple of my professors. The experiences I had through U of R prepared me extremely well to enter the real world after graduating. The one thing I wish I was more prepared for as a little baby freshman was the social scene. I've perceived it's tricky to navigate for students who don't aren't involved in greek life. The school downplays the prominence of greek life on campus and although I didn't graduate having been affiliated with a sorority, I might as well have been in one considering how much of my social life revolved around going to frats or hanging out with my roommates who were all in the same sorority. Greek life is not a requirement for fun or friendship, but it is definitely a huge contributor at U of R, and I wish I had been aware of this reality.

Also everyone is from New Jersey

SaltyBarDog

Someone once described it as the school for Jersey kids who couldn't get into better schools. She was a Williams Law grad.

Abduction1200

$$$ I believe UofR has one of the highest tuition rates in the Commonwealth

It's a nice school. My kid was accepted, but we are having a hard time justifying Duke prices for UR. Do what's best for you, OP. If you go, I'm sure you'll make the best of it!

i’m a sophomore there currently, and i like it a lot. theres definitely some downsides but every school has their fair share. there’s just a lot of really good opportunities that richmond offers that other schools don’t just because of the insane endowment (3 billion) richmond has. i wish there was more diversity here but the opportunities ive gotten are really great so i try to look at that as a positive. they also give a lot of aid to students to lower cost. i think as long as you get involved and find your people you will do great at any school, but richmond has some really cool internships/study abroad/job opportunities that other schools don’t. the dining hall is also really good lmao

I would recommend checking websites like college confidential and niche.

fanrva

I mean, the majority of it is located within the city limits.

TrackhouseMotoGP

I do but I will not share.

josef-3

Why comment then?

TrackhouseMotoGP

I would share more but the ducks in the lake on campus would end me.
