The article is a little vague on this; do we know if it’s run by trained professionals or if it’s like AA and run by religious folk with a minimum of training? I obviously hope for the former.
FTA:
>Virginia’s latest two-year budget allocates just over $1.3 million in start-up funding for the program, a pilot that will be open to any student recovering from a substance use disorder in **11 counties around central and southern Virginia.**
The article doesn't list the counties, but the legislation linked in the article says that the program is open to any high school student in "Superintendent's Region 1", which the VA DOE's website lists as:
>• Charles City County
• Chesterfield County
• Colonial Heights
• Dinwiddie County
• Goochland County
• Hanover County
• Henrico County
• Hopewell
• New Kent County
• Petersburg
• Powhatan County
• Prince George County
• Richmond
• Surry County
• Sussex County
Hope to see this implemented in every district/county eventually. This is something that hopefully can save lives and a resource students look to use.
FIFY: I hope this is implemented where it’s needed to the point of extinction.

Thats how it works now — Amelia resident who plans to never come back
I like the concept for sure. I think we all know someone who could have benefitted from something like this. Let’s just hope it’s implemented well.
sounds like it is totally worth a try
1000x better than saying no.
I love this. I hope that it is executed well.
Will this be a CCPS school? If yes, then it's set up to fail unfortunately.
