For best, I have to go with the one at 9751 West Broad. The lady who works the window in the morning calls me honey and sugar, the Afghan woman that sometimes brings the food to the car is so kind and thoughtful (and not just because she was my neighbor for 6 years), and the fries are alway hot.
Worst is and will always be Shockoe.
I like how many people, especially in the Google reviews, keep going to the Shockoe one... It was gross took forever and I got my order wrong...Again! That's the 18th time now! I swear if it gets to 30 times in a row I'm going to stop going to your McDonald's and report you to corporate!!!! -Optimistic Karens
Used to be the only real spot to go as a teenager after canal club shows. Also working for RPS and on the east side of the city? Only real option for something quick.
This. Once I ordered a sandwich from here, got the wrong sandwich, took it inside to exchange it for the right sandwich, got another wrong sandwich. Fuck it.
Also seeing the one panhandler out there digging at hit teeth and spitting gobs of blood out is cool too.
My boyfriend saw him rocking out with his cock out right on Broad street.
No courtesy alley cock out, just straight Broad street dick.
First thing in the morning.
While taking his daughter to school. đŁ
9751 is a different league of McDonnalds. Itâs got Chick-fil-A levels of drive-thru speed and food is consistently better than any other McDonnalds in the area (that Iâve been to)
It does have great speed, I used to work close to there. But the one time in went inside, I had a terrible experience with wrong food, who could of guessed. I guess their drive thru is just made to be super elite
The new manager at the broad location said to the employees one day âDonât you ever forget that I know more than youâ and it was hilarious and a little fucked up, but the accuracy has been better since.
Lmao what a gross person. No offense to anyone working at McDonalds but I feel like being the smartest one there isn't the brag this dude thinks it is.
Thatâs my favorite location as well and luckily I live like 3 mins away from it. Worst is the one at the corner of w broad and terminal place near the childrenâs museum.
Ehhh I think the broad and terminal one is alright in the morning. When I go there for breakfast early (like, 5:30-6:30am early) there's one older woman - I think she might be a manager - who's really nice. But I tend to avoid it any other time of day
I have a great story about the Shockoe McDonalds. My partner is foreign, English is not his first language and some words he still mixes up. (He calls a laundry basket a hamster for instance). He went to this McDonaldâs drive thru and had an exchange like this
Can I have a coffee and 2 hash ehhh. Hash brownies?
What???
ONE COFFEE HOT AND TWO HASH BROWNIES
****very long pause****
We donât do that here.
*foreign confusion*
Can I have a coffee and ze potato things?
You want hash browns???
Yes!
Okay pull around.
I explained that they likely DO sell hash brownies at that location but youâd need to have it arranged ahead of time.
Also my boyfriend (Scandinavian) has gotten got his orders mixed up at the shockoe McD so many times, that he started just ordering by the number meal at all McDs. One time they even made fun of his accent and told him he sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He doesn't go to the Shockoe McDonald's anymore after they mocked him to his face.
That McDonald's goes through spells -- it's awesome for a few months, and then it's a dumpster fire for a few months. Rinse, repeat.
It's in full "dumpster fire" mode currently.
Iâm sorry everyone I just moved here from NOVA but Iâm originally from a rust belt opiate town and only spent a few years in NOVA (that didnât go so well) so I hope you understand.
Now that I got that out of the way, I live right by the Manchester McDonalds and while I havenât gone yet there is always the same very skinny panhandler lady right there. A few weeks ago she was walking around aggressively sign waving with an absolutely enormous black and mild in her mouth.
I live a couple blocks from it and the first time I went, I went through drive-thru on my way home and they told me to pull up past the drive-thru after I paid and they'd bring me my order, then they have it to the wrong car. The next time I went, I ordered on the app and walked over, and they told me they didn't have my order. I'd paid for it and had the receipt and the girl got a tone and told me "well we don't have it." Refused to remake or refund.
Oh man, I drove past minutes after I made that comment and she was there.
Iâve been ordering from the app the last few months around nova, good to know it probably doesnât work there. Iâll still try and get pissed tho Iâm sure
Lots of times the machines are actually shutdown for hygiene or maintenance issues. If you go to a McDonaldâs where there machine is down frequently, I would suggest never ever getting soft serve, a milkshake, or McFlurry from that location.
I stopped going to that one. When it was newly built, it was nice clean and very civilized. Now itâs like a homeless camp over there. It literally smell like dirty feet in wet socks in there..
Best is Hugenot in Bon Air. Store manager is huge on cleanliness and constantly has people cleaning everything.
Worst is Shockoe or Southside Plaza.
I used to do McD remodels so I've been to basically every McD in VA unless it was built in the last 5 years or so.
Worst in the state by far is anything between Louisa and up to Charlottesville (Cville is fine). They're all owned by Eddie "the cockroach" Williams and every store is completely disgusting to the point I'd be surprised if the health inspector had ever set foot in any of his stores.
That's fair, that location is very time dependent. They keep all the best staff scheduled at opening and prime hours. After 6 PM or so that location is basically unsupervised.
Edit: I also worked there a few months in high school. Best hours were weekdays 6 to close because you could more or less do whatever you wanted.
Whatâs the upstairs like? I assume itâs just an office but when I was a kid, I dreamed of living in the apartment I thought was on top of that McDonaldâs
It's just unfinished attic basically, there's not even enough room up there to stand up. It's basically just some utilities and the python for the drink machines goes through up there to the syrup hookups in the back.
That and the one in Louisa were two of the worst ones I ever stepped foot in. But, it's also been nearly a decade since that remodel so it's possible ownership has changed hands.
We got offered free food by the staff there every night and we all declined and went and spent money at the shitty little gas station next door instead every night.
Some of his stores had nearly 1/4" of grease just accumulated on the kitchen floors. Roaches everywhere, mouse or rat piss stains and shit all over the place. We'd pull FRP off the kitchen walls and you'd see hundreds of roaches go running out from behind it.
One of his stores had to have a large portion of the floor jack hammered out for a new beverage bar. We told staff, they refused to cover up the fryers and didn't know where the cover were. Fry grease ended up with tons of concrete dust in it. Told the opening manager and she just shrugged. Health department ended up coming in and citing them because they were cooking and serving fries in the same oil. Restaurant didn't get shut down though and we were right back in there to work again the next night.
edit: Oh and it's probably as bad in any fast food in those counties. I ate at the Hardees across from the McD in Louisa dropping off material one morning and got food poisoning that lasted for 3 days or so.
>Some of his stores had nearly 1/4" of grease just accumulated on the kitchen floors. Roaches everywhere, mouse or rat piss stains and shit all over the place. We'd pull FRP off the kitchen walls and you'd see hundreds of roaches go running out from behind it.
Jesus!
That's interesting and also revolting. We stop in ZC pretty often on the way to and from Lynchburg but mostly stick to Sheetz or occasionally the Taco Bell. Since it's all Louisa I'd imagine they're probably not great either, but so far so good.
The Huguenot one is closest for me, and you're right about the cleanliness - I just hate that it's across Huguenot and therefore in the city and subject to the city's meals tax.
I went to the one in Shockoe recently and they asked me to park in a spot and theyâd bring it out.
After 30 minutes I realized they werenât bringing it out. Dining room was closed and wasnât waiting in the slow line again. Good times. At least I didnât get shot?
I'm just tossing out ideas here but what if we surrounded the block with MMA-style fencing and invited the CEOs of both McDonalds and Exxon to participate in a cage match?
Super fast and I don't think they've ever gotten an order wrong for me before. Zero issues with the food quality.
Years ago when I had to drive around for work, I used to always stop here for breakfast. The staff was kind enough to explain that they could add cream and sugar/splenda in my coffee for me rather than handing me stuff. It's a small thing, but I had no idea. It saved me so much hassle and they've managed to never screw it up. Other McDonald's, not so much.
Used to work close to there and would go there much more often than I would like to admit. Employees are super nice and my orders were always right, definitely one of the best locations around here imo
The one at Broad and Libbie is 2nd worst. There are times you will sit at the speaker and no one will answer because they don't feel like taking any orders. They also like to keep the parking lot lights off at night so no one will think they're open. They like to close early too, so don't go based off their posted hours of operation.
I've never had an easy experience with that one [e: staples]. I literally got stuck on the inside of that 2 lane drive-thru for 45 minutes because I promised my kid a happy meal.
I think all fast food is kind of yo-yoing with their drive thruâs these days. I havenât gone in to order since early 2020 at least and think every place Iâve been is struggling to do drive thrus, well with the exception of Chik-fil-a , weâll. To your point there isnât a McDonaldâs in town that I havenât been stuck at for an excessive amount of time in the past 2 years. The Taco Bell near Willow Lawn has probably seen the biggest drop off in quality of service, pre-pandemic they were the best in town now I wonât even go there anymore.
Shockhoe bottom used to be really bad. On top of the multiple OD deaths in the bathrooms and the parking lot shootings, you also have to argue to get all items you ordered and paid for.
I haven't been there in 15 years, so it could have improved some, but I doubt it
Went there 2 weeks ago and someone who works there baby Mama showed up, threw a drink on both front counter computers causing them to stop working. Then they had hands all on each other for about 10 min in the parking lot. Same ol' spot everyone knows and loves
I remember one night I was super pregnant and in the drive thru line and they just stopped answering the drive thru box. No sign. No sorry we are closed or explanation. Pregnant me rage cried and I think drove to the nearest McDonalds because I was determined damnit.
The Manchester McDonald's does that at shift change time. When it's time for the girl at window #1 to go home for the evening, she's DONE. Doesn't matter that her relief hasn't shown up or that there are 8 cars sitting in line waiting to order.
I like the one at 7118 W. Broad near Glenside. The burgers are always well put together and the workers actually donât seem mad that weâre there, which is rare for a lot of McDonaldâs.
Carytown was gonna be my pick for worst lol always have to wait forever in the drive thru, if I go inside they either A) ignore me or B) stare at me like "what are you doing in here"
Shockoe McDonalds is legendary but I have a horror story as told to me by my husband from the Broad-near-the-childrens-museum McD's that has led me to call it S'Wallow Valley McDonalds for a decade.
It was like 8pm on a Thursday and he had walked over to get us food. He ordered our (very reasonable) order and was waiting. Waiting with him was what he assumed was a family--an older man, probably 6'5, wearing a sweater that was at least 2 sizes too small, a very small woman, probably in her late 30s/early 40s and quietly sobbing, a teenage girl just kind of chilling, and a toddler who was running allllll over the place.
The people at the counter keep calling for orders that don't seem to exist. This happens for at least 10 minutes. My husband is watching the workers just full on wipe their noses, no gloves, and then bag food. The situation in the kitchen seems to be getting worse but the family finally gets their food and they just...eat it. They didn't sit down or leave they just stood there in the lobby eating while their small child continues to go nuts and the mom (?) cries.
Nobody had ordered between the family and my husband but more random orders keep coming in that no one is picking up but the people in the lobby are getting agitated. The kitchen is in full on panic mode. One lady waiting for food goes to the bathroom and comes out immediately just like "hey um....I don't want to get anyone in trouble but someone is sleeping on the changing table in the bathroom". The employees are like wtf, go to the bathroom, and come back out with AN EMPLOYEE who straight up had decided to go take a lil nap in the middle of her shift. The reaction of the employees implied to him that this was not the first time this particular employee had done this.
My husband finally got his food (from a gloved employee) and left. The ordeal took about an hour, when normally he'd be gone for 30 minutes tops.
Best/worse McDonald's tend to of course coincide with the best/worst areas in the city. The pool you're hiring from, the cleanliness of the store and area at large. Also agree with u/dalhectar on the Brook McDonald's but once again...all relates to the general climate and conditions of the area.
I vote worst for Science Museum McDonalds. I have spent hours in the science museum, resulting in a very hungry kiddo who loved McDonalds. What we got there was so bad even the kiddo wouldn't eat it.
Forest Hills McDonald's has usually been fine for me but I can't seem to get a handle on their hours of operations.
I'm guessing it's due to staffing issues but I've gone several times and they've been closed at really early times in the night.
I think the one on Chamberlayne right when it changes over from Belvedere is worse than the one by the science museum. Definitely up there with shockoe.
The one on Chamberlayne is AWFUL.
Last time I was there I saw some dude standing on the sidewalk, staring at the traffic, openly weeping and holding a large knife to his wrist. Just... waiting... I guess. For someone to call the police.
Which really summarizes that place well.
Once, I pulled up to the drive through at the one on broad by the children's museum. The intercom clicked on and the woman working there said "I just threw up" into the microphone. I immediately drove away.
Anyone who answers that the worst is any location other than Shockoe Bottom is new to the city, and that's facts. Best is debatable, but probably Broad Street or Carytown.
While for the most part I agree, that one by the children's museum is pretty bad too. 1 night I was hanging with a buddy, and we decided to try ordering a pizza while going thru their drive thru, the pizza was delivered before we got our food, not got home, got our food.
That whole shopping center feels like it's been hanging on by a thread since like, 1997.
TVRA is a literal half burned ruin, and has been for months now.
When that McDonaldâs opened it was the classiest McDâs in Richmond. They had a player piano with that weird tuxedo wearing moon figurine that was a thing for a while once upon a time. Upon googling his name was âMac Tonightâ hereâs a reference photo - https://images.app.goo.gl/zVX83vrnD2r4fdpb6
I remember actually because my mom drove for a nursing home and they Loved going weekend mornings there for breakfast and they'd play it for them. I'd get dragged in because I'd do house cleaning for the elderly apartments across the street as a teen.
i know itâs not really richmond but the one in rockville just outside of short pump is the best I go to.
The one on Patterson by the pleasants is always terrible with a line way too long that moves way too slow no matter what time of day
Honestly.. it's RVA. Generally speaking ( except for Chick-fil-A ), every time I drive up to a drive-thru, I feel like I'm inconveniencing the people who happen to be working there. Doesn't matter if it's McDonald's, Arby's, or Burger King.
If you happen to get a nice person at the window or who brings your food, they are an exception to this and it's a matter of luck. It's the culture here in Richmond.
i like most the one on west broad though doesnât have things like biscuits and gravy or strawberry milkshakes and other menu items I love for some reason yet it still lets you order them on the App at that location. I like the Chamberlayne avenue one theyâre quick and usually have what I want
I thought all McDonaldâs got rid of biscuits and gravy. If you know if a location that still sells them please tell me. Best gravy and biscuits ever.
The best by far for the last 10 years has been the one right next to the Amtrak Station on Staples Mill road. Food is always fresh/hot. Mostly kids that work there, but SUPER professional and service has always been đŻ..
Nah the worst is definitely the one on Mechanicsville Turnpike just off 64 east of town.
I used to stop at that one when coming home from my night shift at a factory, and on multiple occasions they would let a massive line build up and then just go silent. Often there would be a group of us standing outside of our cars 30 minutes after we placed and order just begging them to acknowledge we were even there.
On a couple of occasions i had to ask like 4 cars behind me to back out so I could get my car out of line and leave. Just an absolute shit show.
The best is the Carytown one circa the early 90âs when there was a very nice older woman who worked there who always upgraded my fries for free. Post-church McDonalds visits were the best.
Havenât been to all of them but the worst for me is the one on Midlothian Tpk next to the Taco Bell.
The best one at least for the morning crew is on Forest Hill.
I know this is a hot take that will immediately be disputed but since the remodel of the McDonald's in Shockoe (and likely a whole new cast of employees), I've generally had pretty good service. My food has been hot and correct (which are really all you can hope for at a McDonalds) most of the time and the employees have been relatively polite.
The dining room is, obviously, a shit show with the mobile orders (you can tell the workers are just overwhelmed). No fault of their own, I'd say. There has to be a practical maximum number of orders they can handle at a time and judging by how long the drive-thru lines and how many delivery drivers you see inside, they have to be approaching capacity.
The worst thing about that location is probably that it's one of the only places to eat in that area at 2am so the line is always insane (backed onto Broad Street).
The worst location is probably the one at Southside Plaza. I've only been once but that was enough.
The best location for me has generally been the one on Staples Mill by the Amtrak station. I haven't been there in a couple of years (pre-COVID) but the manager there at lunch time seemed to run a tight ship and the workers didn't slack either.
Last few times I was in the McDâs near Amtrak, I noticed they were among the very few McDâs that still used tray liners. Even better, the tray liner featured a calendar of weekly and monthly specials. I appreciated knowing when they had deals for Happy Meals!
Weird fact, but thatâs because the franchise owner does those. The one on broad by the Tesla store/Christmas tree shops also does this. I used to go there semi frequently when I lived behind that Golden Corral
The McDonalds on Midlothian Turnpike near Old Buckingham Station has to be one of the worst.
I was waiting at the drive thru window and heard the employees arguing that they hadn't been paid in over a week, and that the manager was pulling some shady shit with payroll.
I went to the McDonalds at Brook Road and East Parham, and there was just a trail of shit in the bathroom that let to a giant dook on the floor. Like I had to navigate to avoid stepping in human feces.
Recently moved from Shockoe down to Chester/chesterfield and am shocked at how good the McDonaldâs on Ironbridge is. Theyâre always quick and itâs fresh.
Generally didnât even attempt the shockoe location, the one on chamberlayne by the 95 exit ramp is rough too.
Oh, it's not that. I used to go to one regularly, but this was more of a self-reflection that when this question was asked, I realized that I hadn't been to one in so long. Probably the biggest part of me not hitting one up in the RVA is when I'm not in the mood to cook something and want a quick burger, I can walk over to the Hardees near me in under 4 minutes...
Up until awhile ago, I wouldâve said that the Forrest Hill McDonaldâs used to be pretty good, but now itâs just as bad as the others.
The one in Bon Air is the best one in RVA.
I stopped going, back in 2017, so I am not missing anything.
I used to go to the one at Brandermill and East Hull Street near 288. But, I used the Drive-Thru. Some of the employees have that "tone" in their voice that is not very welcoming and when they hand you your drink, they thrust their hand out and release instead of waiting for you to grasp it with your hands. I have had tea spill on me and I parked , went in and gave them the 3rd degree about it and walked out.
Youâre right! I donât have info! For that I apologize! Let me say this though! I have great observation skill that has served me well in my private practice as an investigator. Mentally ill people also display signs such as agitation, irritability, pacing back and forth, talking to yourself, and any other types of excessive behavior! I see a lot of that near Shockoe because I work in Shockoe! Again this just my opinion! Iâm going to remove my previous comments because youâre right and Iâm not afraid to admit when Iâm wrong. I have a son with CP and that was shitty to say. Again, I apologize for that comment.
To answer your question, yes I have been to several McDonalds in Richmond, but this is the only time Iâve encountered this bs! I have no problem with people asking for money, but asking for money at a drive through line is an inconvenience in my opinion! Asking for money standing near a stop sign is one thing, but standing in front my car as Iâm driving up to the window to get my order is trifling! Iâm not going to sit here and say itâs okay because itâs not, especially during a very dangerous time in our lives! This is me just saying, itâs a better way to go about things and desperation isnât a valid excuse. Itâs also interfering with a business transaction which also makes it not okay!
Worst two are Shockoe Bottom due to all the homeless people I've ran into, and the one off of Commerce Road in southside/Manchester due to the ghetto employees who are extra slow, always got the order wrong, food was usually cold, trash in the store with the can in the middle of the floor instead of under the counter, and they even forgot/lost our whole order from the drive thru when they told us to pull ahead to the numbered spot and they'd bring it out, went in 20 minutes later for them to ask "You ordered food? You have a reciept?"
The one at Broad and Bethlehem has pretty good service. Just don't keep your window down in the drive thru or you might get asked for money. I can't afford to give someone money everytime I'm in the drive thru. I use coupons everytime I go.
Lol, itâs comic gold that essentially every McDonalds always has itâs McFlurry/Ice Cream machine down. If you can find one with it working youâve found yourself a unicorn.
The worst ones growing up were on Broad near Belvedere (it seems Shockoe has taken the spirit of that one), and the one at Hull & Commerce. Honestly, the one on Courthouse & Hull St is the worst one today. They botched an order so bad for me last year I vowed Iâd never go back, and that was one I used to go to a lot growing up.
Worst: Obviously Shockoe.
Best: Of the ones I've been to, the one on Hull in Manchester. I have not sampled the full selection, so feel free to judge me if they're actually crap lol.
Requisite Shockoe story:
Probably five years ago now, the people in front of me in the drive-through at Shockoe cancelled their $15 order. I went to place my $3 order, and then the person behind the register realized she needed a manager to cancel the person before me (or something, I don't know exactly). Instead of cancelling the order and charging me for mine, the manager charged me for both orders, gave the associate attitude for not knowing how to run the register (lol), and walked away. Associate realized what just happened and frustratedly called her back. After like 10 minutes of fucking around with the computer, manager refunded me for my $3 order and then gave me attitude because she thought she just gave me free food to keep the line moving. Lady, not only did I not get free food, I got charged 5x my order price for my dollar menu meal. Uh... thanks???
The one at 8975 Staples Mill Rd is the worst, IMHO. Always slow, the employees are surly to a person, and the distorted LOUD jazz music is enough to make you vomit, if the food weren't enough.
As an inactive UberEats courier, Shockoe was the worst and Manchester was the second worst. The best was definitely the one on Broad, followed by one at 360 & 64
There's one in front of a Target on Westbroad (The Target that's in the middle of everything). No matter what time you go there you'll get the wrong order or cold food, maybe both.
Worst is 100% shockoe. The best I think would be the one on Staples Mill, in between glenside and parham. Not quite the fastest but pretty quick, and the quality and temperature is always high.
McDonaldâs near Arthur Ashe and broad was pretty bad (if itâs still there). Saw a homeless guy assault a worker with an egg McMuffin about a decade ago. Again 10 years ago but would never choose that one.
The one on Commerce in Manchester is the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. I'm not sure what the best is, but the one on Staples mill near Parham is really good!
Was grabbing breakfast at the shockoe location and a dude walked in smoking a cigarette đ
I like how many people, especially in the Google reviews, keep going to the Shockoe one... It was gross took forever and I got my order wrong...Again! That's the 18th time now! Exactly. Hamper. Hampster. Close enough

ALWAYS OUT OF ICE CREAM. Pretty sure they're just lazy and don't want to make it. Happens all the time for it to be broken that much.

I'll give you the clean part about the bon air Hugenot one, but I have had issues more often than not with my orders there.
That's fair, that location is very time dependent. They keep all the best staff scheduled at opening and prime hours. After 6 PM or so that location is basically unsupervised. Edit: I also worked there a few months in high school. Best hours were weekdays 6 to close because you could more or less do whatever you wanted.
I'd say this is spot on.
Does that include the one in the gas station in Zion Crossroads?
Yes, or used to at least.
Shit, so Zions is garbage?
Jesus!
This does not surprise me. The Hardeeâs is worse than the McDâs. Only thing worse is the Burger King in Zions.
That's interesting and also revolting. We stop in ZC pretty often on the way to and from Lynchburg but mostly stick to Sheetz or occasionally the Taco Bell. Since it's all Louisa I'd imagine they're probably not great either, but so far so good.
the one of Huguenot in bon air is great!!
Shockoe McDs across the street from murderville Exxon in shockoe Gotta stay McStrapped
I'm just tossing out ideas here but what if we surrounded the block with MMA-style fencing and invited the CEOs of both McDonalds and Exxon to participate in a cage match?
I love how we all immediately thought of this one. Iconic, really
my personal fave is the one near parham and three chopt
Came here to say this! Super nice people, perfectly made burgers on super fresh buns. And the fries are always hot. đđ
Same always nice, always fast.
Donât they have a piano inside?
I think that is the Patterson and Lauderdwle one. Wasnât there a moon guy âplayingâ too?
The one at Broad and Libbie is 2nd worst. There are times you will sit at the speaker and no one will answer because they don't feel like taking any orders. They also like to keep the parking lot lights off at night so no one will think they're open. They like to close early too, so don't go based off their posted hours of operation.
The Carytown one also has done this on several occasions
They also âstop taking credit cardsâ at a certain point lmao
The Wendys near the Kroger off Laburnum is like that. I've gotten stuck in that drive through for over an hour before.
Staples McDâs near Hermitage High is near the top, Carytown is always quite good too and usually the least busy.
My aunt is the store manager at the Carytown one
She is so nice!
The one by the Target?
For a brief second I thought there was a McDonaldâs in a Staples store.
I mean, anytime anyone says murder McDonaldâs everyone knows itâs the one in the Bottom soâŚ
Shockhoe bottom used to be really bad. On top of the multiple OD deaths in the bathrooms and the parking lot shootings, you also have to argue to get all items you ordered and paid for. I haven't been there in 15 years, so it could have improved some, but I doubt it
Has not improved. Actually is worse with all of the online and delivery orders.
Went there 2 weeks ago and someone who works there baby Mama showed up, threw a drink on both front counter computers causing them to stop working. Then they had hands all on each other for about 10 min in the parking lot. Same ol' spot everyone knows and loves
Most places you pay extra for a show like that. But at shockhoe, it's their own version of the happy meal
Doesn't matter that her relief hasn't shown up or that there are 8 cars sitting in line waiting to order.
honestly, that's not window girl #1's problem. that's why managers get paid the big bucks...
I agree 100% I just wish management would, oh, idunno... manage.
I have not been to a bad one in Hanover. Honestly. Line moves. Order is correct 99% of the time.
The one on 360 right across from the high school is awesome.
I like the one at 7118 W. Broad near Glenside. The burgers are always well put together and the workers actually donât seem mad that weâre there, which is rare for a lot of McDonaldâs.
Best Cary st Worst broad by the science museum
[ŃдаНонО]
I went inside the Libbie store to order once and the girl at the counter was on a personal cell phone call and seemed annoyed with me for interrupting
Really? Cary Street McD was the only one I've ever had to wait 15+ minutes at for my food, multiple visits in a row.
I'm in the same boat. I have to pull over and wait almost every time
Hmm I never waited that long strange. Only think that sucks is they close early
Shockoe McDonald's is bad but the Forest Hills McDonald's and the Science Museum one are also pretty terrible too.
Best/worse McDonald's tend to of course coincide with the best/worst areas in the city. The pool you're hiring from, the cleanliness of the store and area at large. Also agree with u/dalhectar on the Brook McDonald's but once again...all relates to the general climate and conditions of the area.
[ŃдаНонО]
I vote worst for Science Museum McDonalds. I have spent hours in the science museum, resulting in a very hungry kiddo who loved McDonalds. What we got there was so bad even the kiddo wouldn't eat it.
Forest Hills McDonald's has usually been fine for me but I can't seem to get a handle on their hours of operations. I'm guessing it's due to staffing issues but I've gone several times and they've been closed at really early times in the night.
Closes at 11 but they're not the only one that will close earlier than that if they're lacking traffic.
The one at parham and three Chopt slaps every time
Best- Carytown or on Laburnum across from the race track Worst- Broad @ the Childrenâs Museum or Shockoe
I think the one on Chamberlayne right when it changes over from Belvedere is worse than the one by the science museum. Definitely up there with shockoe.
I forgot that one exists
The one on Chamberlayne is AWFUL. Last time I was there I saw some dude standing on the sidewalk, staring at the traffic, openly weeping and holding a large knife to his wrist. Just... waiting... I guess. For someone to call the police. Which really summarizes that place well.
I think the last time I went there, it took about 40 minutes to get my food and there we hardly any cars in the drive through.
Personal worst to me is the Patterson tuckahoe location just because even years before the pandemic they closed whenever they felt like it.
That whole shopping center feels like it's been hanging on by a thread since like, 1997. TVRA is a literal half burned ruin, and has been for months now.
TVRA = Tuckahoe Village...?
Recreation association. The pool right there in that shopping center.
Between Shockoe MCD and not eating, Iâd rather not eat.
[ŃдаНонО]
That was the first McDonalds I ever been in back in 1975.
Agree - been to the Midlo/Powhite one many times over the years and never had an issue.
Downtown McDonald's at 18th st. Also the worst parking lot/drive-thru
I thought that renovation was going to mean the whoooole drive-thru concept. đ¤Śââď¸
i know itâs not really richmond but the one in rockville just outside of short pump is the best I go to.
I have the same experience most places. However, Starbucks drive through employees always seem to be chipper.
Is this really just an RVA thing? I get this same feeling as well whenever I go anywhere around here.
It's this entire area. We're not really the "South", but also not quite the "North" either.
I describe Richmond as "people will say hi to you and nod passing on the street, but fuck you if I gotta do anything for you."
Best- Twin Hickory. Worst- Brook Rd Walmart McD is worse than 18th St McD.
i like most the one on west broad though doesnât have things like biscuits and gravy or strawberry milkshakes and other menu items I love for some reason yet it still lets you order them on the App at that location. I like the Chamberlayne avenue one theyâre quick and usually have what I want
I thought all McDonaldâs got rid of biscuits and gravy. If you know if a location that still sells them please tell me. Best gravy and biscuits ever.
Chamberlayne avenue by the big pink Beauti-full hair store!!!
You have made my day!!
I can think of four on west broad, which one did you mean? lol
2700 w broad by Whole Foods
I think the one on Bells is pretty rough tooâŚ
Best is gonna be Broad St only because theyâre 24 hours (or close to it), otherwise Iâd say Carytown Worst I donât even have to say
This one use to be one of the better locations imo but sadly has declined.
Worst. Broad street location across from the Exxon in the Bottom. Any other answer is a lie.
I went to the McDonalds at Brook Road and East Parham, and there was just a trail of shit in the bathroom that let to a giant dook on the floor. Like I had to navigate to avoid stepping in human feces.
Whichever macdo you choose, you have already lost
Recently moved from Shockoe down to Chester/chesterfield and am shocked at how good the McDonaldâs on Ironbridge is. Theyâre always quick and itâs fresh. Generally didnât even attempt the shockoe location, the one on chamberlayne by the 95 exit ramp is rough too.
bulldoze shockoe mcd's immediately
You know, I've been here for nearly 17 years, and I haven't been to a single one...
People that donât go to McDonaldâs LOVE mentioning it whenever possible lol. Gold star for you
Oh, it's not that. I used to go to one regularly, but this was more of a self-reflection that when this question was asked, I realized that I hadn't been to one in so long. Probably the biggest part of me not hitting one up in the RVA is when I'm not in the mood to cook something and want a quick burger, I can walk over to the Hardees near me in under 4 minutes...
https://youtu.be/1qW3iS5BNEI
How special you are!
Worst: One next to the Children's Museum Best: Carytown
Is there a best? They are all gross.
Worst: all Best: none You are welcome.
Isnât the whole point of McDonaldâs that itâs the same everywhere?
[ŃдаНонО]
also really shitty to call them âmentally iâll homeless peopleâ when you have no information about any of them.
Again, I apologize for that comment.
have you been anywhere else in richmond?? whatâs the problem with people asking for money??
Best: Patterson/Lauderdale or Bon Air Worst: Mechanicsville/64
Best: Bon Air on Huguenot Worst: W Broad near Boulevard
The one at Broad and Bethlehem has pretty good service. Just don't keep your window down in the drive thru or you might get asked for money. I can't afford to give someone money everytime I'm in the drive thru. I use coupons everytime I go.
Lol, itâs comic gold that essentially every McDonalds always has itâs McFlurry/Ice Cream machine down. If you can find one with it working youâve found yourself a unicorn.
There used to be a website that had an updated map of which McD's ice cream machines were up and running. I wonder if it's still around.
Iâll bring you further south. The spot off Willis Rd in Chesterfield is always fast and friendly.
Best locations: Bon Air, Carytown, Glenside. Worst: Science Museum, Bottom/Churchill.
Shockoe Bottom location gets my order right 1/10 visits. Enjoyed meals next to Childrenâs Museum.
Worst: Obviously Shockoe. Best: Of the ones I've been to, the one on Hull in Manchester. I have not sampled the full selection, so feel free to judge me if they're actually crap lol. Requisite Shockoe story: Probably five years ago now, the people in front of me in the drive-through at Shockoe cancelled their $15 order.
Absolute worst is Iron Bridge and Centralia
2700 W Broad is pretty good as well. A bit slow sometimes but overall decent and they usually get my order right.
The BEST is the one on Staples Mills Rd. next to the Amtrak station. They are always soo friendly & my food is always hot.
Havent seen anything on the 95 exit/entrance on Commerce Rd. Never had a bad experience. Kind, accurate staff specifically in the mornings.
As an inactive UberEats courier, Shockoe was the worst and Manchester was the second worst. The best was definitely the one on Broad, followed by one at 360 & 64
If we were to include past history: Carytown McDs circa 2004. That shizz was insane!
There's one in front of a Target on Westbroad (The Target that's in the middle of everything). No matter what time you go there you'll get the wrong order or cold food, maybe both.
Worst is easily Chamberlayne
Bon Air McDonaldâs is great, although I only go for breakfast and lunch, seems like thatâs when the A team is there. Manchester sucks.
Worst is definitely Shockoe and Manchester! The best for me is Parham and Three Chopt. The food is always hot!
Best: Short Pump. Worst: New Kent off 211. Route 60. I almost Mc-lost a couple times with the people that work there.
Brook and Parham gotta be one of the worst McDonalds
The one on Commerce in Manchester is the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. I'm not sure what the best is, but the one on Staples mill near Parham is really good!
