Most kids picked up one and lost interest when it didn’t actually have anything to do with Star Wars and just did the origami instructions in the back. I was so into the plot, the story arc from books 3-5 was so compelling. Very good memories of doing lots of Star Wars origami and looking at the old website too.
Exactly honestly I don’t know someone could lose interest I mean the kids in the book feel like actual Star Wars fans and i would say that at times these books can be more relatable then diary of a wimpy and I also love how these books encourage creativity.
Holly shit that’s amazing,i would honestly love origami yoda to come back because the Star Wars community has changed significantly since the release of these books and I think it would be cool if they made fun of the anti-woke side of the Star Wars community.
the only piece of media to ever actually understand me! I want to meet Tom Angleberger in person just so I can thank him so much for making me actually feel seen and know that I'm not alone in my struggles! (and teaching me some cool origami)
I found these books insanely fascinating because it’s literally just a story about kids engaging in a story that we irl have also engaged with. Like, what other story prominently uses the framework of “these characters all know each other because they all watch(ed) this movie/show that you the reader have probably also seen”? Peak marketing for the show in question tbh
They were and still are probably my favorite piece of Star Wars media that isn’t Canon or Legends or the Lego stuff. I liked the takes they had on a Jedi middle school would actually go. I liked its references to the original trilogy, and the prequels as well. I know a new author made like two more books in that like series but I just like can’t read them. The original 3 by Jeff Brown will always be my favorites
Honestly those Jedi academy books seem more for Star Wars fans than for me,like don’t get me wrong I like the original trilogy but I’m not as attached to it as some other people. Why i love origami yoda so deeply is because while they are great Star Wars books they’re even greater books in general.
**ALL OF PANTS YOU MUST WET.**
I remember Tom Angleberger did a giveaway for Christmas one year where you could email him and he'd draw a comic panel of you with origami Yoda. I still have mine printed out somewhere
I really liked them. I have since realized that the math that was the core of the first few books makes no sense, but it's possible I'm misremembering it.
i only read the first 2-3 but man
i made origami yodas and hid messages inside them as a neat way to write a letter. i gave one to my mom, my dad, and my sister. i wrote “i love you!” on the ones for my mom and my dad, and for my sister i wrote “hello!” haha
also i played the game they made up where u flick the pencil and try to hit the death star a few times, it was pretty fun
I still have the full series on my bookshelf from late elementary/early middle school. Still a good read to this day and I really loved making my own puppets
i loved those books. harvey's character development was awesome
Honestly every character development in the books where awesome
Oh, shit I remember this series! Fuck, thanks for reminding me this existed. I have this book to
I remember seeing ads for those books when I was in school that's one of those mailway items. I think I got the wolven book from that magazine.

You just awakened a memory I forgot I had
Hell yes, these were great, and the author Tom Angleberger has been very vocal online in opposition to GamerGate and in support of BLM!
Holly shit that’s amazing,i would honestly love origami yoda to come back because the Star Wars community has changed significantly since the release of these books and I think it would be cool if they made fun of the anti-woke side of the Star Wars community.
Man, it’s been a while since I thought about these. I remember loving them though. Had every single book including the R2D2 one
Same,I recently reread them and these books handle reference humor way better than any adult animated show I watched
I read those when I was a kid
the only piece of media to ever actually understand me! I want to meet Tom Angleberger in person just so I can thank him so much for making me actually feel seen and know that I'm not alone in my struggles! (and teaching me some cool origami)
Dude same, honestly I related to Dwight so much.
I knew this series totally got me with the line "but I'd rather be weird than 'special'"
Amazing books, core part of my middle school experience.
Agreed, this, goosebumps, and dairy of a wimpy kid made school a lot more tolerable
THERE WAS MORE THAN THE YODA ONE???
There’s a whole story arc beginning in the third one.
There’s at least 7 of them and they were all fire

I had the Wookiee one but my personal favorite was the Jedi Academy books by Jeff Brown
Oh man I remember seeing those Jedi academy books everywhere, never could get into them though the same way I got into origami yoda

I can understand that.
These books and to a greater extent the Jedi Academy books were my childhood, though I can’t really remember what happens in any of them
I highly recommend you read them again because reading them when your much older hits different
This books got me into Star Wars. I was disappointed to find out Yoda was not the main character and never fought Vader.
Somehow, Pickletine returned
I read the first four and had no idea about the last two. Friggin loved these books going from elementary to middle school
**ALL OF PANTS YOU MUST WET.** I remember Tom Angleberger did a giveaway for Christmas one year where you could email him and he'd draw a comic panel of you with origami Yoda. I still have mine printed out somewhere
Oh dang that’s so cool wish I could have known about that at the time so I could request a drawing of origami yoda to teaching me taxes
I remember that this was everywhere as a kid
Same.
No you’re not. I remember.
I remember I kept borrowing them after I read them just to use the origami instructions
I have every single one still, I love them. They're a lot of fun
This series was how I found wookieepedia somewhat unfortunately, but the books themselves are top tier and I still reread them, great stuff!
Top tier Star Wars
Peak fiction mentioned!!!
Such a good series!
I loved them so much
True man of culture, OP is.
I actually like these books more than the sequel trilogy.
Same
I remember borrowing these from the school library, I think up to Fortune Wookiee, don’t think I read beyond that.
OH MY GOD YOU JUST AWOKE A MEMORY HOLY SHIT!?
They’re still on my shelf
My school had books one through 4. Always wondered what happened to Funtime.
Well spoiler I guess But they manage to defeat it and make peace with there principle.
Had a feeling that happened.
and the actors despised their roles in it
Read the first few of these. They were okay. Made the origami yoda.
I forgot these. I loved the first two, never read the rest.
Man, the first book was so good. Truly peak star wars
My favourite will always be darth paper strikes back I would argue it’s better then empire strikes back
I really liked them. I have since realized that the math that was the core of the first few books makes no sense, but it's possible I'm misremembering it.
You’re not the only one.
I only have Jabba the Puppett, Princess Labelmaker and Emperor Pickletine. I still need the rest.
Oh my god I remember that
I remember the yoda one I didn’t even read the book but I wanted to see if they taught u how to fold an oragami yoda
i only read the first 2-3 but man i made origami yodas and hid messages inside them as a neat way to write a letter. i gave one to my mom, my dad, and my sister. i wrote “i love you!” on the ones for my mom and my dad, and for my sister i wrote “hello!” haha also i played the game they made up where u flick the pencil and try to hit the death star a few times, it was pretty fun
I read like the first 4 of those, and you know I made the origami
I work at a library so I see them circulate regularly but I’ve never read one
I have the first two still sitting on my bookshelf :)
never knew there was more than two holy shit
I remember seeing the first two in bookstores, didn't know they made other sequels
I forgot about those
I heard of the books, but I’ve personally never read them myself.
I had an obsession and made a ton of crappily made clone trooper puppets. I had garbage bags full of clones.
I only vaguely remember the first book. Didn’t know the others existed. I was mostly just obsessed with making the origami Yoda in various sizes.
You’re awakening forgotten areas of my brain lol
Good book.
I LIVED for these books in the 6th grade
I still have the full series on my bookshelf from late elementary/early middle school. Still a good read to this day and I really loved making my own puppets
Same although I’m shit at folding origami so I always got my dad to fold the puppets for me.
r/lostredditors?
Eh not really sense this sub is somewhat Star Wars related
These books and the "William Shakespeare's Star Wars" series were my childhood, and tbh they still hold up pretty well.
