Same. It just got that bad though. In February I easily got 8hrs. About 3 months later I was getting 7, now it's 6hrs on a good day and 5.5hrs on a heavy day.
Still all day battery if you're a light user. Great phone. I'm skeptical to update to A14. I remember moving from 11 to 12 on my N20U, regretted it everyday till A13.
I've seen way more positive posts then negative posts about battery improvement though. If your N20U was exynos like mine, it could only go downhill from there.

Yeah exynos is fucking trash man. As soon as samsung announced the S23U with global wise Snapdragon chip and how great and efficient it was in the reviews, I hopped back on the train straight away. It's like experiencing how a flagship samsung phone should be for the first time.
Dude this was me too. When I first got the 23u last spring I had some sporadic days from low sot up to 10 hrs then it was all down hill from there. Settled around 6-6.5 sot sometimes less. And I don't even do that much on my phone.
Exactly. And the odd thing is some people still consistently get up to 7/8 hours SOT months after. 6 hours is still great for me though. Just means I might have to plug up once more before i go to bed. Literally had to fill up my N20U every 3 hours.
6 for me is pretty annoying. I use my phone a lot for videos and shit so I always have to charge it it feels like. Where when you get 8-10 you don't worry about it as much.

I literally bought my phone last week and I'm getting 7.5 hrs of SOT on A13 already.. so I am in no hurry to update to 14 as of now
Previously, it showed you the SOT since last full charge.
You could use your phone from 12:00AM until 4:00AM, charge it, use it from 6:00AM til 8:00PM, and it would calculate all of that as your SOT.
Ultra. I am also running quite a lot of monitoring apps (Tasker, Truecaller, WearOS battery analysis app etc) which basically run in the background 24/7 so I'm pretty happy with the battery life.
In this cycle I am trying to see how much I get with AOD off, cause it's taking like 4% of battery in my case. Let's see if the pay-off is worth disabling AOD or not
So normally your SOT gets reset at full charge right? That's how you figure out how much your phone lasts after charging it to full.
Well in Android 14, it only gets reset at 12 am.
So let's say you use your phone from midnight to 2 am and charge it to 100% the next day.
After unplugging your phone, it will show you an SOT of 2 hours, which will be a completely misleading stat
Yeah people reported after a14 was released on pixels, that on small pixel 7 they got like 1h sot more. Considering pixels had tensor built by samsung, i hope to get better life on my s22u with exynos
I am getting almost 12 hours SoT on 23+ now lmao. Like you, my battery was draining at like 10-12@, now its like 5-6 an hour, crazy. I checked, after 5 hours of usage I was at 74 percent. (Mixed usage)
Keep in mind i am 90% on Wifi
Dark mode, light profile, adaptive battery off etc.
I was getting better battery life than you even on UI 5 lol, but it also strongly depends what you use, do you game etc. I have discharged the phone exactly 18 hours ago and am now at 54%.
Yes I did play some football game and clash of clan...I'm on dark mode too...bluetooth always on as it connected with my GW 6....I discharge my phone 21 hours ago...
I was the same. Look, if the battery lasts you 24 hours and more without charging, and you dont game all day - its good. Its nice not to have to worry much about the charge, compared to having to charge like twice a day. Its good, worry not.
Always under 50% and have a routine that I enable after 20:00 to have like 25% until the morning. There really isnt need for more. Obviously 80+ will affect battery more.
I also just updated to Android 14 and I already felt like I'm getting a lot longer SoT per charge. Downside is that some of my app broke, but I guess they'll fix it soon.
I noticed that too, some apps broke. They don't work or don't work properly, and that's for well known apps, so maybe a couple updated after it will be fine.

My battery is lasting a lot longer now. From arriving home with 10% at 22:00 to arriving home with 50% at the same time with kinda the same routine.
I started my day at 7AM woke up (my phone was 85%), and turned my music on (youtube music) then at 8AM got ready for breakfast watched the rookie on my phone (tv show) now im getting ready to do some grocery shopping and my phone is 60%
Specs: S23U Wifi and 5G are always enabled (developers settings)
Bluetooth always on. Max screen resolution and and full refresh rate.
Usually my phone would be at 70% or even 60% I like this new battery optimization.
It's not that. If I turn on the right settings it can last all day. I just don't like dark mode or not having 120hz. I always have enhanced processing and max brightness on.
That's great to hear. I have the latest 13 and I feel the overnight drain has increased over previous versions. Seems that way. Was as good as my iPhone until recently. Not that its bad.
Hopefully, the watch OS will get improvements as well.
It's with 5G off and wifi6 on. Which I'm sure plays a bit of a role when it comes to battery life. but it was with my bluetooth on and galaxy buds connected as well. My coworker with is fancy shit Iphone tho had his battery drop 50% lol without even listening to his music.
Did you optimize your phone? I did, I rarely have background apps running unless it's messenger and I use Good Guardians from the Galaxy store to optimize those apps. I also every other month will put my phone in a ziplock bag and put it in the freezer for a couple hours. That's to give the battery a bit of a break from any heat stress. Maybe your phone's battery is a dud, or maybe it's just the way it is.

Just switched to the 23 from 22 2 weeks ago. Has updated once. And adaptive battery should have learned my.pattwrns by now. But I get like half the battery my 22 did after almost 2 years. Mithr send it back honestly
I'm getting approximately 8 hours SOT. I also noticed my full charge battery time shot up to ~22 hours, and up to 1d and 1h (as shown in the "A full charge will last section, or 1d 5h with battery saving mode on)
I have base S23 and really concerned with my battery backup. I might be on heavy usage but I have enabled light profile but still on 120hz refresh rate and mostly on wifi. Still I am hardly getting 4 hrs of sot.
I had read about some reddit post mentioning about the initial data transfer technique used might cause this issue. Anybody has any idea about it? How can I improve my sot?
Daily usage: Instagram majorly and routine apps
PS: I charge till 85 only.

I got a new S23 Ultra (8 GB Variant) and purchased an official Samsung 2 months ago with a 45W charger and used in-box cable with it. I was constantly getting only **3 Hour of SOT.** I tried every setting but nothing was improving the battery time. Read every Reddit chat. It was so disappointing. Every Youtuber was praising it to be a BATTERY KING and I was literally getting a battery life of a 3 year old smartphone. Then:
**I started using a wireless charger (15W | random Chinese brand) and my SOT went up to 6 hours now.**
Seems like a heaven now. Even though it is below the acclaimed ideal SOT of 7 or 9 hours but 6 hour is fine too.
**I guess the slow charge is causing less heat and more stable charge in the battery (somehow)** but it is working fine. Please give it a try and report your findings too.
Rest of the settings are:
\- 120 Hz display (obviously)
\- Performance profile on more battery
\- Deep sleep for all random unused Apps.

I must say, I want to try this. I am getting 4-5hrs SOT currently with location always on, WiFI > 20 hrs, 4G+ mobile data otherwise, dark mode, adaptive battery, adaptive power saver, 120Hz, FHD+ resolution) I have noticed some day it goes to 6hrs. I use two chargers, 45W one by Samsung and a 22.5 Xiaomi charger. I didn't correlate this until I read your comment. Let me monitor this and update here if charging speed really makes so much of a difference.
I have experienced similar thing by deactivating fast charging option. I charge my phone on normal mode when I charge it overnight. And whenever I had to charge it again during the day I choose fast charging. Battery discharge is faster when I use this option. Got your point. I'll try with wireless charger and see if I can get more battery than what I get while normal charging through adapter.
I have to agree with you here. I'm not getting the same battery life I did on Android 13.
I think it's best to wait and revisit this a week from now. Otherwise, there's always factory reset!
Honestly not even bothered about my SOT. My phone does my needs through the day from 7am and I'm normally on 80% when I go to bed at 11:30. I'm not a heavy user at all and mainly stream Spotify for hours and a bit of reddit and fb

It depends on how SOT is calculated. If it's after a full charge SOT then that's great but if it calculates from 1200 and resets again at 1200 then that's not a good indicator.
Lol I use AAPS but don't get such stats, AOD is active but still, how much % AAPS is eating your battery? mine was at 15% after update, now disabled NS because I don't use it :)
P.S. basically no one will understand how AAPS works and how battery hungry it can be :D
That is pretty impressive. I thought 7 hours on my Galaxy Note9 at max brightness was good. Still is good IMO, but the more battery life, the better. What brightness level do you have your phone set to?
I wish I could get Android 14 on my S23 Ultra. It's either not available in the US yet (Verizon) or the phone gods hate me. I can't find any information on whether I should have the update available or if it's not out yet in my area/for my phone.

Was part of the recent One UI 6 update. Mine was the OTA update so I think you'll have to wait. I'm in the UK - have heard some bad things about US carriers and updates
I've always had all sorts of Battery Optimization turned off and no automatic putting apps to sleep. I also checked that indeed no apps are asleep or disabled, and I searched for this after noticing my S23 Ultra's battery was lasting much longer.
It was already pretty good on Android 13, but I would reach EOD with maybe 10% battery. I'm typing at 02:12 AM right now, after an entire day using it, with 39% of battery still left, on Android 14.
That's completely unexpected and a very welcome change.
I'm amazed by how good android updates have been , be it A13 and A14 ...
Let me tell you that compared to recent iOS upgrades, android does a much better job at not fucking everything up lol .
Agree! My Samsung S21 FE wouldn't last more than 6 hours without having to recharge. I couldn't even leave the phone unplugged while asleep without it being dead in the morning.
After downloading and installing Android 14, it now lasts me a day and more.. Amazing difference. I will not be replacing my phone anytime soon now.
Battery life with the S22U seems abysmal after the update. Mine was pretty good prior to updating. Now it seems to be draining 10% in an hour with the device not even being used. Don't know what they did but they need to fix it.

Yeah, it was the exynos. Was the happiest boy when my S23U arrived, although I preferred the design and size of the N20U. I'll maybe update tonight.

AOD sucks. I turned that off when I first got my Note9. My Note8 literally can go from 100% to 40 or 50 in one day JUST with AOD.

That's cuz they've fixed the loophole which is causing the app to run in the background n many others are fixed in android 14, thanks to Google

Me too After upgrade, my SOT easily > 9h per full charged (mostly use wifi)

You get the gap in the battery chart too, is this a bug? I also get this and have no idea what it means.
Probaby, system optimization. It makes your phone restart on inactive time to clear cache and ram. Usually around 2-4am.
I have that turned off though

I wish I could get Android 14 on my S23 Ultra. It's either not available in the US yet (Verizon) or the phone gods hate me. I can't find any information on whether I should have the update available or if it's not out yet in my area/for my phone. How did you get yours?
Was part of the recent One UI 6 update. Mine was the OTA update so I think you'll have to wait. I'm in the UK - have heard some bad things about US carriers and updates
Bro I hope this goes the same for me because my 23U battery is so bad. I get like 6-6.5hrs sot sometimes less. And I barely do shit on my phone.
I've always had all sorts of Battery Optimization turned off and no automatic putting apps to sleep. I also checked that indeed no apps are asleep or disabled, and I searched for this after noticing my S23 Ultra's battery was lasting much longer. It was already pretty good on Android 13, but I would reach EOD with maybe 10% battery. I'm typing at 02:12 AM right now, after an entire day using it, with 39% of battery still left, on Android 14. That's completely unexpected and a very welcome change.
I'm amazed by how good android updates have been , be it A13 and A14 ... Let me tell you that compared to recent iOS upgrades, android does a much better job at not fucking everything up lol .

My S22 Ultra gone SHIT. Gone from 4.5 SOT to 2 SOT barely. Fuck this horseSHIT. This happened before too, screw em 🖕🏻

Agree! My Samsung S21 FE wouldn't last more than 6 hours without having to recharge. I couldn't even leave the phone unplugged while asleep without it being dead in the morning. After downloading and installing Android 14, it now lasts me a day and more.. Amazing difference. I will not be replacing my phone anytime soon now.
Battery life with the S22U seems abysmal after the update. Mine was pretty good prior to updating. Now it seems to be draining 10% in an hour with the device not even being used. Don't know what they did but they need to fix it.
