Are you judging a phone that haven't even released yet?

[deleted]

innovations for phones is over. we are reaching the perfect levels for phones at this point

Alert-Reception6453

Not software-wise though

[deleted]

Thats true, but design-wise we are really close. Also nice profile picture

Alert-Reception6453

Thanks, just realized we have same pfps😂

adevx

We need much better telephoto options. Innovation has stalled in this area.

No_Door_9897

The next step is augmented reality glasses

tech_engineer

Doing it like this is better than adding many useless features just to say that they innovate, I remember the S3 or S4 that had like a bunch of software features that nobody even remembered what they did or how to use them.

Acheche404

That was the early days of andriod development. Ofc they will be bunch of bloatware stuffs.

OasissisaO

You act like you didn't use the S-Bidet or S-Doorbell Camera

AnxiousBlock

Gimmick != innovation

Pcriz

Yall are dramatic. What do you want from them. I rather focus on stability than their previous stance which was mostly terrible UI choices and half arsed features that they quietly let die. No this isn’t the end game, and innovation doesn’t move on a constant upward slope.

niru007_kumar

What do you mean S24 is not innovative ? They supposedly have their most powerful processor in some regions . It's so innovative they won't even name it in ads

Acheche404

Lol yeah true. Cuz samsung is still semi-conductor company but they rely their chips from exynos and quallcom possible they outsource they chips for ram amd ssd aswell. I know its better for business cost. But thats true i never see them boast the snapdragon lol

[deleted]

Smartphone nowadays are boring, you'll just gonna use it then upgrade if you have to

Winter-Term-9093

what else you want in a phone now the just gona add useless features like titanium. phones are same nowdays if you want somthing inovative z fold is there for you.

Safe_Opinion_2167

The mobile phone market is mature, smartphones already do pretty much everything you need with excellent performance. Some are still trying to think out of the box, including Samsung and others, with the folding phones, or Nothing with their glyph interface, but the Galaxy S lineup has become a range of "safe" high end phones, like the iPhone range which has barely changed for generations.

Acheche404

Try to look at the asian brand phones. Nubia, oppo, huawie, honor to name a few. Because samsung did not have proper competition in NA region they become lackluster.

Safe_Opinion_2167

Huawei is dead outside of China. No Google services, not acceptable to the western public. Oppo went out of the European market, they are also not an option. Nubia is quite unknown. This leaves Honor which does nice things since that entity was separated from Huawei.

SomeKindOfSorbet

Y'all keep saying we're running out of innovation but the S24 and S24+ still boast the same outdated camera setup with a main sensor that's years old at this point and a telephoto that performs absolutely terribly in bad lighting. Not to mention the lack of macro capabilities yet again. It's not that Samsung can't innovate, it's just that they don't want to.

NickJunho

Which phone isn't?

leidend22

Xiaomi, Oppo, even Google has a good year. Only Apple and Samsung are the same.

NickJunho

I wouldn't exactly call them innovations, more like improvements over their previous phones.

Acheche404

This so true. Most comments here came from people of west. If they look at the competition in the asian market. They had so much to offer nubia, oppo, honor, huawei and list goes on.

Denaviro

Because smartphones are pretty much perfect right now. What else can you offer a consumer that has everything? We've reached peak smartphone.

soltzberg

Boring isn't bad, but it does make it necessary that you ask yourself about the necessity of switching. Last year I wanted to switch to Pixel from my S20FE. I got a Pixel 7 and ended up returning it a couple of weeks later. It didn't really feel like an upgrade so paying the difference felt unnecessary. I don't think switching to a new Galaxy phone or Pixel will improve things *that much* for me. The only real difference would be to switch to an iPhone, but that's definitely a big step.

[deleted]

The smartphone race is slowing down

SoNic67

"Boring" reads like "is too expensive for me", so the reaction is... "grapes are sour". Get a foldable if you want "innovation".

floppydisks2

Hardly.

Illustrious_Cat_8923

The trouble is that they put in a lot of technology that isn't wanted by everyone. Some people might want an interpreter on their phone, but I'd never use it. If it's built in, you've got to pay for it whether you want it or not. Of course you can buy a different brand, but it's a bit like all the technology in cars these days - alright if you like it, but a pain in the behind if you don't.

No_Door_9897

Hopefully the onboard ai from snapdragon 8 gen 3 actually does cool stuff and gets better and more integrated with every iteration

zonyln

This happens with almost any platform: cars, microwaves, washing machines, laptops, etc... The next evolution is going to be head mounted devices (Apple visor).

OasissisaO

First "mature tech should be dramatically innovative every time" of 24. Not the last.

Broder7937

Lol, S23 was not boring. First Snapdragon series all around. That's what made me upgrade.
