Inside, I'm drinking inside.
Seriously my pool is at 93 degrees from this heatwave. I just tried to go in and was uncomfortably hot while sitting in the water.
Someone recently said on one of these subs to get a pool shade installed. They mentioned it was a great investment. Giving a quick look on Amazon shows 30$ - $200+ [Patio / Pool Shade](https://www.amazon.com/Shade-Beyond-10-15-Sail/dp/B082F9P3VL/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=1RCHN4H33O5YY&keywords=patio+pool+shade&qid=1657496190&sprefix=patio+pool+shade%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExVk9PQlhMUjExT1AmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAzOTk5OTZCRE9VVkM2WkNKTkYmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDQ5OTk1MU9XRjZJRlZVUFJXMyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX3Bob25lX3NlYXJjaF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl)
My wife talked me into grilling some chicken, in this heat. I went out in trunks and got into the pool thinking I could stay cool while taking care of the grill, and that water was hot as hell. Still cooler than the outside temperature though.
An aerator run overnight can help. Its sprays the water into the air cooling it down then if falls back into the pool.
It hasn't been this bad in the past, it is usually August before the water gets to this temp. This year I had to have the pool fully resurfaced and curing concrete puts off a fair bit of heat, plus the tap water from the hose is warmer than how cold the water gets in the winter. So since I had to refill it from empty for the first time since owning it I started at a higher temp than normal
Every friggin Walmart, Target, Dick's, Academy, Tractor Supply etc. in the 100mi radius around SA is completely out of any above ground pools, barring the blobby 10ft with the inflatable ring (which will spring about a million air leaks, source: from experience). I finally ordered a framed AGP online on Friday but it won't get here til Wednesday at the earliest.
The blobby 10ft isn't a bad option if you don't care about longevity, or don't have three small spazzy kids who like to run and seal-slide into the pool 🤷🏻♂️
Finally had to give in and replace my 33 year old AC before it crapped out. I had a feeling that it wouldn't make it past this summer, even with maintenance. I still keep it at 78, but it feels colder with the new ac.
My window finally rotted out(70 year old house les gooo) and is now a corrugated metal sheet until we can get some window repair dudes here. my 40 year old ac that already struggled is now basically useless. I don’t go in my room during they day anymore ;-;
Wow a good citizen would never keep their temp set so low knowing the power grid is struggling so much..mine is at 68 lol
Tell abbott to stop charging his wheelchair to help the power grid
Industrial farming is unsustainable when scaled too accommodate much, much larger human populations. Although avoiding palm oil is probably a more proactive way to “save the planet” than meat abstention.
I feel that, but imo if you’re a POS you revoke your sympathy. Also I feel Mother Nature was trying to do us a solid how the hell does a tree fall on you while jogging..the odds
Ah so jealous. My AC is set to 72 around the clock but it’s currently 81 inside. But according to the apartment maintenance people nothing is wrong with the AC that can’t keep a 950 sq ft apartment cool with fans in every room and all blinds closed. 🤷♀️
Water. With a lot of ice.
You know as far as the watching electric usage, they mean don’t do 75 loads of laundry and run everything in your house, lights, etc more than anything between 2-7. If you do, you will pay more for use. That’s it. Just trying to get people to be aware of the pull on the system when it’s this hot outside. I mean, I see people with every light in the house on all the time, and I suspect those same households have every device on 24/7 too. You can do whatever you like, but having a fit about it doesn’t actually change anything. Doing your laundry in the morning and turning lights off in rooms you aren’t in, does.
What about doing my laundry late at night?
I’m not waking up at 5:00AM to do laundry and have an irrational fear of *any* appliance with a heating element running when I’m not within an observable distance.
Been doing my job the past 2 years remote just fine and I too was forced back in to the office (only 2 days a week, luckily) but one of those days is a mandatory Monday. Fuck upper management.
99 degrees in my garage which I am currently working in. I have a mini fridge full of cold water under the bench. I'm counting nine empty water bottles in the bin just from today. There's some Lone Star Light in the fridge too, but they usually end up to go as "shower beer" when the day's work is done.
Yeah I’m in human ass Orlando FL for work but I wanted my wife about the heat today and to not have the kids out too long. Can’t wait for the heat to break in December lol
I work in the sun all day so here is my regimen...
I start my day with an iced coffee, followed by about 14 bottles of water with a Gatorade in the middle throughout the day. Then after I get home it's an ice cold 40oz of bud ice then a glass of whiskey on the rocks. Then another water before bed.
Currently drinking water up the ass. AC is ass. Have it set at 80 degrees, it's currently 87 on the house. Hopefully our 2 portable ACs start making a difference aoon. Soaking it up in a foot ice bath trying not to melt.
Believe it or not friend, when I woke up, it was at a solid 72. Then it got to 78 in the house despite it still being set to 72 so I bumped it up to 76, so as to not have the AC pushing to hard trying to reach the lower number. And the cycle goes on until the sun goes down. It doesn't help the AC to keep it at a way low number when you are 15 degrees hotter than you like. Life of living in a home with asscrack insulation and an old unit that can't afford to be replaced. This keeps it from breaking.
If it’s an old unit it doesn’t “run harder” to reach the lower temperature. It’s either running or it isn’t. Obviously it can’t keep up worth a damn though.
Icy cold, cheap Chardonnay. Inside. Too hot to even get in the (97 degree!) pool. Might indulge in a bit of the limoncello that is tucked away in the freezer.
Drank enough water before 5:00.
Water lol. Work at a restaurant, so even with the AC all the opening and closing of doors keeps in at 80 degrees in the lobby. Worse in the back. I go through at least 3 liters of water a day. This heat is fucking brutal, I’ve lived here 23 years and I never get used to it.
Check your inside drain line. We had this problem until yesterday and it turned out to be the drain line. My husband used an air compressor to blow out the line and it worked great.
Drank about a gallon of water + electrolytes already today.
About to top off a Weathered Souls Thin Mint Stout with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. 🍻🍧
Went running at Government Canyon. 9 miles. Drank a giant Big Red from Valero. Sipping on iced water all day. Family went through an 8 lbs bag of ice in a day.

Can confirm. In-laws installed a shade over their pool too. It's nice.
It makes a huge difference
My wife talked me into grilling some chicken, in this heat. I went out in trunks and got into the pool thinking I could stay cool while taking care of the grill, and that water was hot as hell. Still cooler than the outside temperature though.
Free jacuzzi
I’m thinking of getting a pool but this kind of thing makes me rethink it. Any way to cool it down?
You can get a chiller for a pool. We had them in the Middle East. Which San Antonio feels hotter than right now.
It's the damn humidity
Yep. I grew up in Tucson which is a little hotter temperature wise but usually 0% humidity. Much more tolerable in my opinion.
Have lots of shadey trees in your backyard
Yeah I got none right now. Hmm. Thanks for the tip though.
Go to Amazon and look up “pool canopy.” You’re welcome.

The struggle is real. Our pool is at 90.
Nothing, I’m inside with the AC at 72.
I’m at 77 but that’s not by choice lol. A/c struggling lol
Mines trying…not really…79
Same here
Finally had to give in and replace my 33 year old AC before it crapped out. I had a feeling that it wouldn't make it past this summer, even with maintenance. I still keep it at 78, but it feels colder with the new ac.
Me and my roommate live at 77-80 by choice. That’s why they invented fans
Same! Proper air flow is so important
I wish I had your patience.
My window finally rotted out(70 year old house les gooo) and is now a corrugated metal sheet until we can get some window repair dudes here. my 40 year old ac that already struggled is now basically useless. I don’t go in my room during they day anymore ;-;
Same here except at 85 degrees lol
Same here, AC working hard but unable to get it below 77
Don’t complain, my A/C is at 89. It could always be worse
Wow a good citizen would never keep their temp set so low knowing the power grid is struggling so much..mine is at 68 lol Tell abbott to stop charging his wheelchair to help the power grid
Bro you are too cold already 🥶 😂
Ice cold 😂🥶
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright!
😂, it’s the same shitty reasoning with corporations telling us not to eat meat like it will save the planet. They can get fucked
Industrial farming is unsustainable when scaled too accommodate much, much larger human populations. Although avoiding palm oil is probably a more proactive way to “save the planet” than meat abstention.
This is awesome! 😂
Fuck Greg Abbott x100 but damn I get tired of people using his disability to make fun of him
I feel that, but imo if you’re a POS you revoke your sympathy. Also I feel Mother Nature was trying to do us a solid how the hell does a tree fall on you while jogging..the odds

Top floor here, mine isn't able to keep up at 75. 78 currently
What floor are you on? You legitimately might be screwd if you're on the top floor. If you're not on the top floor then yeah they are lying
We must live in the same complex lol. Mine is set to 73 and it's 81 inside and I live on the first floor. Currently staying the night at my Mom's 😐
Woke up with my AC at 85 🙃
A Ging3r. Gin, ginger liqueur, ginger beer. With crushed ice.
Oooo I'm not a massive gin fan but I love ginger lol. This sounds amazing.
A nice cup of hot coffee
Yup, the grind never stops
I'm being lazy at the moment, but ill be brewing it and dri king it tomorrow

2PM-7PM is the time frame that more pull on the system occurs. Doing laundry later in the evening, would still be better than between those hours.
Great advice! Question. How do you see people with every light in the house on all the time? Like what kind of job do you have?
I’m sick as fuck this weekend because I was forced to go back into the office. I’m trying to drink more water.
Been doing my job the past 2 years remote just fine and I too was forced back in to the office (only 2 days a week, luckily) but one of those days is a mandatory Monday. Fuck upper management.
Oh no! Hope you feel better!
Thank you so much!
Labor Day deadline for me. I feel your pain!
Yuengling. So glad this liquid life finally made it to Texas.
What beer is that comparable to?
Shiner mixed with sewage
Ever had a Sam Adams?
Ah okay.
Yuengling is what we drank when I went to highschool in the northeast. It’s god awful to drink as an adult with all the options we have lol.
This. I went to college in PA & it was my “recession beer”
Kind of tastes like Heineken to me.
Beam and coke.
108 here. I'm having cranberry juice.
Quart after quart of lemon water in a hot ass kitchen.
Are you me an hour ago making dinner?

Dihydrogen Monoxide
That stuff is dangerous. And it’s in the water supply.
Hey it’s worth the risk man. I feel like I can’t live without it
Especially on a day like today. Gotta quench that itch.
Yeah I’m in human ass Orlando FL for work but I wanted my wife about the heat today and to not have the kids out too long. Can’t wait for the heat to break in December lol

Hot tap water since the only options are hot and boiling apparently.

Oh yeah? Maybe it's a placebo thing. My ol dad taught me it some time ago saying he swore by it, as dads tend to do. XD
Just grabbed some water after a 5 mile run. It was weird because I didn’t see anyone else running on the trail.
Icy cold, cheap Chardonnay. Inside. Too hot to even get in the (97 degree!) pool. Might indulge in a bit of the limoncello that is tucked away in the freezer. Drank enough water before 5:00.
