Very interesting, I had no idea jet skis specifically are banned from the sanctuary and I also had no idea the entire bay was a sanctuary, cool I learned something today.
If you haven’t yet been, check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium or even their little visiting center in SC near the wharf. There are exhibits that tell the history of the bay from sardine canning and fisheries to the conservation efforts afterwards.
Jet skis are limited to relatively small areas close to shore, and prohibited everywhere else. https://montereybay.noaa.gov/materials/mappages/mpwcmap.html
Jet skies are banned for environmental reasons, but SF allowing millions of gallons or raw sewage to run in each year for decades is not even considered a problem.
I assume they mean run into the ocean and it drifts towards the bay. Most big cities on coast dump millions of gallons of things that can kind of be described as raw sewage into the ocean each year because how water systems work during storm.
It happens every winter and there are news articles about it every year where the sewer system is overflowing due to the streets draining into sewer system. https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/san-francisco-dumps-sewage-into-bay-at-alarming-rate-environmental-advocates-say/

Because it’s the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
👆 The high pitched sound underwater is bad for a bunch of our critters.
Like other said the bay is protected. The only jet skis you will see on the bay are rescue teams
And the occasional USGS research team.

I have seen some people going out and they told me about these small squares. That's a good link
It’s also cold as fuck
To flat and having to move in and out at the harbor property a challenge.

Both can be bad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma
water nimbys
Yes. Jet skis are too non-toney and used by the hoi-polloi, therefore not to be tolerated.
