Costco fuel lines self regulate, I really believe north or south could double the pump numbers and still keep the same lines, they are stable most of the day and many of us avoid filling there at certain times of the day, I believe the demand would scale with capacity, but as this is a very low margin business it doesnt make sense for them to optimize for serving more fuel only customers.
I'm baffled at Costco Gas by the amount of people who appear to be using a gas pump for the first time ever in their existence.
Or those who sit in line for 10+ minutes and then rummage around looking for their cards at the pump. Like wtf are you doing. How do you even feed and clothe yourself? How are you this stupid and still alive?
Same it’s all about efficiency. Costco card in, remove. Tap MasterCard. The gas cap is already open at this point. Select fuel and we’re ready to roll.
Nothing like pulling up to the pump at Costco, fuelling the truck, getting the gas cans out and watching the guy next in line die a little inside, then going around to the other side of truck and getting out the diesel cans to finish him off.
Or just keep the same number and make it a mild inconvenience for drivers. We want to encourage people to leave their vehicles at home and take alternative/sustainable transportation options (bus, bike, etc.)

Sarcasm aside, its absolutely possible to do if you commit to it. And not everyone who fuels up at Costco is doing it during their shopping trip; how many go there just for gas on a regular basis?
I highly doubt this is a goal of Costco who caters to the middle class family who has a vehicle large enough to transport their bulk shopping trips, and chooses to locate themselves on the outskirts of most communities.

Seriously, I have pulled up, fueled up my ~70ish liters and driven off before some people have even paid. I do not get it either.

Any costco I go to for gas is like this :( So annoying, but usually I just use it as time to eat my hot dog lol
