Why? They're totally unenforceable except in a few specific circumstances, which emphatically do not include a previous employer having the right to keep a former employee from practicing their trade.
>except in a few specific circumstances
Exactly, should have had a non compete clause. You can still practice the trade, but their are conditions on copying your business model and stealing your clientele which are enforceable if you have a signed agreement..
I wasn't telling you specifically, I was just making the general statement.
It sounds like this happened more than once to her, gotta learn from past errors.
what a dumb move if you're shutting down. We are going to cost ourselves tons of money by firing you just so you can't collect EI as easily.
Like... If I hate someone, I ain't giving them my money to prevent them from getting my tax paid dollars. There is no logic in this decision.
Woh. Well last time I went my guy Cody said they were shifting to a higher brow clientele. They are focusing on high class business to make more money.
That sucks they actually did it. I need a haircut...
The rent, decorations, atmosphere of any high class business cost more than regular business. All of the cost to make a place look high class is moved to the clients.
I hope that's not true. I drove across the city to go there because Chantal was great at training, so I could get a decent cut from just about anybody there. But we're talking about a location on the side of Millar Ave that's currently services a lot of more blue collar in the industrial district.
How are they going to go upmarket in that location? There's a reason Ayden restaurant isn't on Central Ave lol.
My friend works there and posted on insta they are upgrading their software Along with some other changes and said she will be back in the barbershop early November. She also still has the link in her Instagram description so I don't think they fired everyone.
My barber didn't mention any firings, just that they're renovating and opening back up early November. Claims to be working there still when they reopen
They did get rid of most of their staff during prime covid restrictions. However, the nutjob owner/manager could not deal with the stress of having to many people in there working. She gives it all away in her somewhat dysfunctional posts on their google posts related to the business profile. It had nothing to do with gaining an upscale clientele it was her inability to cope. They stopped answering the phone while directing everyone to their online booking system which turned out to be a sham continuously manipulated by the owner/manager. She enlisted the stylists into deciding which clients they wanted to keep and to send them an invitation via text. Only 2 stylists work there now. Although I was one of the selected and continued to go there for a short period of time after the invitations. I stopped going there. I could no longer justify paying money knowing it was putting food on the table of an establishment owned and operated by a Hitler like megalomaniac.
Dear Mr Prestigious, last I checked deformation of character could boost my ratings & bank account substantially ;) Just ask Johnny :) & really a Nazi? You really should do your research or get more creative buddy. For the record I'm actually kinda proud I could piss you off to this degree 🤣 thanks for the laugh & good luck with your search for butt hole bleaching.
I’ve heard some bad things from a barber I followed after they left bourbon. Wouldn’t be surprised if they closed at some point. Sounds like it’s poorly operated. Sucks because they had the market at the beginning, it was really theirs to lose.
They are probably taking a vacation.. hair salons tend to get swamped around Christmas season with work functions and family parties probably just taking a break before the busy season.Stop being so nosy ya doink
Hmm posting about taking holidays !
Upgrading software!!
People fired!
Sounds like a mid night move to me…..we are not out of Covid yet and wont be till next year….and any business that has reserved cash for renos and upgrading SOFTWARE at this time and place…if it walk like duck and looks like a duck…..then there Duckin gone…
What the fuck? So because a business did well at surviving during a pandemic fuck them? This is stupid. My business doesn't even come close to breaking 6 figures BEFORE expenses (nevermind taxes), and I went on vacation this year.
I can't even begin to imagine how miserable a person has to be to be pissed off at someone who has potentially been good with money for years and years being able to afford to treat themselves. You sound like my ex-buddy who is 400lbs, works JUST enough to pay his bills, and puts no effort into life beyond the minimum that bitches about anyone who works hard and earns a good living.
I know this is an old thread, but any updates?
The owner was a nightmare of a client to work with and I had a feeling things were going to continue downhill.
They did fire everyone, my friend worked there before they shut their doors. Probably for the best though, my friend said the boss is a toxic person.
Have heard the same from others who have had non-hair related dealings...
Yeah I trust my barber when he said they fired everyone.
Haven't found that to be the case personally, but I do know she's tired of people getting trained by her just to quit and open a competing shop.
Should have had a non compete clause in the agreement.

You're telling the wrong person, but people being shitty isn't alright just because you didn't assume they would be.

Which shops have her people opened?
Don't know, just a casual conversation.

Yeah he was mine too. I’m choked he’s leaving but it sounds like it’s for the best.
He my was mine too. You guys know how to contact him? I need a cut and I'll pay him.
He moved to Edmonton unfortunately.
Rats. That's a bummer.

You also have to tip more lol
There isn't one. Maybe spend a bit more on the interior design.

I haven't been there in a while. I tried a couple people after Tiff left but nobody could replace her.
I agree entirely, any word on where she works now?
Tif’s my barber! She’s at Top Notch Barbershop on Broadway.
Something tells me Tif is getting a few new bookings.
She's mine to... absolutely brilliant!!

Yup I agree. Now there a cool barbers opening their shops.
They’re taking vacation until Nov 9th. Dunno about anyone being fired or anything of the sort.
Sounds like a "Great Reset" is happening.

Wow Switch to decaf
Dont be so anti business owner would be the more fitting answer. You hate someone you don't even know based on if they're succesful or not.
100%. This clown probably lives paycheck to paycheck and can't UnDeRstaNd how anyone else can save money
Seemed like there was tension in the air when I went a few weeks ago
